Six years! I’ve been with you two. Your show takes me back. Somewhere, somehow someone was arguing about Farmall and John Deere tractors every day at school. Enjoy your show. Thanks.
Hi , I know it's not what you do normally in your videos, but I wouldn't mind seeing you doing all that work you talked about on the 400 I think that would be some interesting videos. Just my 2 cents keep up the great videos.
I've spent a lot of time on a 4020 John Deere and I guess pick your color. That horsepower range just seems to work well for so much on a small farm. I pull a notill drill or a six row notill planter. It's got plenty of power to pull the baler down the road with a wagon 200 bales full. We used to Hussle chopper wagons with them as well. Yet I can get it into tight places to put equipment away or whatever else. Last summer I had to do some rim repair on my Oliver Super 77 and ended up putting new tubes in and replaced the cloride with washer fluid. I don't think I'll have to worry about those rims and tires for the rest of my life, unless of course I find a deer antler.
Always have liked the way you’re taking your time on the bigger tractor purchase, and not knee jerking to purchase something you might regret. When she comes along you’ll have that good ole gut feeling, as many tractors as you have purchased you know the game…stay safe hoss🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
I think the 1960 cut off is because that's the year before John Deere figured out how to use a foot clutch and admit that they needed more that 2 cylinders to keep up with BIG RED!
I went from a 560 to a 966 Loved my old 560, but the 966 wss a lot more power Better creature comfort and was easy on the fuel . Kept all the same implements , worked out well for me.
Excellent video Gino :) also on Farmall 400 Loader tractor are changing light bulbs to 12 Volt Negative ground types or don't need too! Yes some tractor are interesting how pull limits or past on weight they rated for and I say wow ! Why say that because in 1992 my one school buddy need change motor in car also ask my dad plus brother my uncle for permission they say yes and help too! Funny for 350 V8 , Manual Transmission floor shifter on 1963 B414 Loader tractor Desiel motor did performance excellent no damage to car or tractor to ever even a person! So can say we gotta winner get stuff down and yes like all explained do to tractors and machinery to Gino !
Agree 400 is SMTA with better hydraulics and a dash. I have a 2000 loader on my '62 560. I use it every day to feed round bales, push snow, and clean cattle sheds. It lifts most bales, but struggles with wrapped wet bales. If a 2000 loader lifts a ton, be assured a 2001 loader will NOT lift a ton and a pound.
Lamb & Webster 👍 I used to work there as a parts guy.. I live close to Springville ny but most my equipment came from north Java or Springville location. I was sad to hear monroe bought them out but hope they continue the service Ev and Tom had
I’m wondering if a previous owner was pushing brush and a decent piece of wood fell on or wedged itself on that pulley. Brush work tends to be hell on anything exposed.
They keep the 1960 and prior to keep 4020 and 1206 tractors out. Keep it at 560 and 730 style tractors. They make serious HP with a 560 now with RD 501 truck engines but a turbo 361 out of a 1206 can be made too wild for small pulls
@@bobpaterson1845 ok this is uk year bands veteren 1939 and before vintage 1940 to 30 years before 1984 so vintage in between though some say 1970 to 1984 classic

The 15 series are only 3 speed.. (as I'm sure you know) I grew up with a 1586. Awesome power, but if you are used to having 4 speeds, you might miss having 4.. We had: Cub, 140, 560, 856, 1586, 7120.. I still have the cub, but now we have all modern stuff. Pumas, Magnums
Lol! I do have a 2017 and a 2007 here everything else is 1988 in Pryor clear back to 1941. But couldn't help but laugh around our place where they called a 1586 some of the modern stuff. LOL again!
Somehow, I missed or forgot your 400 acquisition. I just got a 400 a couple of years ago, and although I kinda like the looks of it, I spend more time with my M, SM, SMTA, and the SW-4, SWD-6 . You might enjoy a 1066 or a Hydro 100 if transmission is good. Some models have ridiculous collector inflation, (1206 1256 1456), and some are just solid value farm tractors like a 1066 or 1466.
We bought a new 400 in early spring of 55 and it stayed until the 450 showed up in 76 . It was our only loader tractor until 81 when we got a new Kubota L305DT . I should have bought that 450 when we sold it in the fall of 89 .......
@@FarmallFanatic if you can't find a 400 fast-hitch closer I have most of one...I'd have to check to see what it's missing. I'm pretty sure it's got the swinging drawbar attachment. I'm thinking you might have parts guys closer that could have one .
Speaking from experience,I don't believe you would like a 1566 unless you are just going to do heavy tillage with it,they have a 3 spd transmission and your always a gear too low or a gear too high.A 1456 is probably going to be big bucks. The best large frame Farmall ever built was the 1066 and they will match a 14 or 15,hell they are basically the same tractor, but with a 4spd that the 15 doesn't have and a good 1066 that hasn't been beat to death can still be had fairly reasonable.Just MHO,that and a quarter won't get you a cup of coffee. The DT414 in the 1066 will turn whatever power you want it to.
Most people would say a round muffler goes on that tractor, but to me, it doesn't matter what muffler goes on it as long as it works on that tractor, then it's fine with me 👍👍👍

@@FarmallFanatic my 1420 combine has a d358. I can say it starts good, and is relativly good on fuel. What I dont like about it is that it seems like it has to be wound up to make any power and isnt all that luggy. Pushing a 4 row corn head or 15 foot platfom as soon as the combine starts to slug it falls on its face. Ive run a 1440 that is just a little bigger with a NA D414 and it seems like a much more powerful engine.
@@FarmallFanatic oh yeah I know all about perkins things, my Oliver 1850 loader tractor has one. Nice tractor but it sure isnt an IH.
