I'm what you call a tractor alcoholic.... I love tractors since I was a kid and as a adult I own a dew. From ford john deere and international. Not judging but nothing beats the sound of a international tractor. I got a 966 it's not pretty but man i love that tractor. Great video and channel..... love your content 👌🏾
That 2840 looked slick. I bought at 2640 JD with a 146 loader.... nice little outfit works good but when feed cattle and sheep wish i had front wheel assest. Soon as it gets little muddy its hard to get anywhere
I know absolutely nothing about crop farming, I'm a livestock guy. My grandfather raised cotton, corn, and soybeans in the Missouri bootheel before he made the conversion to hillbilly when my mother was a kid (I think it was the late 50's or early 60's when they made the move). I must still have some that flatlander in my blood though, because I have dreams of pulling a 1 row corn picker through a small patch of corn with his Farmall 300. LOL!!!
Rain at an auction makes everything look good and shiny. The combine and corn picker were good prices depending on how far you have to tow it. My Brother had to replace a few mailboxes when he was driving the picker home and didn't move the draw bar. Condition of the tires comes into play if your pulling it home from the auction.
6 years ago you installed an electronic ignition on your M distributor. How did that work out is it still running ? Are electronic ignition kits reliable?
Well-kept equipment always brings more money. Looked like nice stuff. 2840 was not one of JD's best. There were some around here at one time. Most had hydraulic problems. Guess if you got a good one, they were ok. Nice to see a smaller auction with usable stuff instead of all big equipment. For that price I would have loved to have the picker. Looked nice.
Excellent Video Geno :) , also nice farm auction sale and what person ask on how buy machinery is how much acres to with , what animals do want also do have big enough barn , what crops plans are and get prices! Find how big tractors need , machinery for crops plant and take off ! Plus got storage for hay , straw bales , corn in pick or silo , grains want use , plus Soybeans what machinery needs! My dad & uncles and aunts farm plus grandparents used old used machinery for years! Shocking found price sold for then used and check auction when needed by compare! Plus some old machinery is one bad fall is some certain parts can't buy new only used good condition and makes them out business down fall! Like David Brown company I never heard about since my uncle Doug had one in till 2013 when past away that in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦!
There was a copy of an old dealer video on youtube, I think either AC or Farmall, that gave expected acres per day each tractor could complete. The numbers were quite high for 1930-50 tractors. Homesteaders don't need the hundred horsepower mini tractors on the market these days even if the dealer sells them they do. I think Ford N-series two bottom plows could cover 3 acres an hour. Long day do 30 acres of a 50 acre homestead or two half days. FF you should time your plowing speed with each tractor and plow you use, pace off a plot size and a stop watch. That would be a very useful video. Speeds of plowing, fitting, planting, harvesting, brush hogging, etc.
just got done with my corn. my neighbor is so far in debt at 48 years old he told me IF things go right his sons take over they get no more debt and he retires at 65 his sons will have to carry debt for 18 more years after his retirement BUT my corn planted with a deere 7000 planter gave pretty much the same yield as his 3 year old kinze planter that he is in debt for! i have a double disc deere planter like that i do all my beans with. my neighbor NO debt does 20 acres a year of beans with a allis pull type combine just like that
Gd day FF That 2840 6 cyl without turbo. A neighbour had 784 & out turbo on, he was told so many hrs & turbo will bpaid for, even my 574 is hard on fuel compared to Massey. A neighbour had 65 dieselmatic pull 4 furrow with it, can't see how. Did mult-power work? Wow 65 brought good $ This was a good clean sale Ths
2840 is 80 hp . I owned one back in the 90' s.Great tractor just don't try to start it below 40 degrees. I always said if you walked past the radiator with an ice cream cone, it won't start
Great auction video as always 👌 the MF 65s were quite a popular tractor over here 🏴 great traction for draft work but just my opinion engines weren't very lively 😕
A buddy of ours had a 2840 me and my dad had to split it 6 times no joke the it would hydo pressure to the trans we redid the whole trans and brakes still didn't work here there is a relief valve on the floor board that jd said it wasnt the problem but it was my dad rigged it still works today but the hi and low unit was bad he put a good 8k in the trans
If your just starting out..... no money? look around and you will find an old farmer that should be retired but its all he knows to do.... trade your time and help him and learn from him. done right you can make a good mentor friend that will teach you what your getting yourself into. those guys are all over... you just have to pay attention
I just finished restoring a tractor, I’ve been watching your channel since last winter. Would love to send you a pic, it’s red. Lol. Not your red though. Wondering how I can send to you?
It's getting hard to find good older used stuff, no matter your color preference. I remember back about 6 years ago, a beautiful low houred case 2090 came up on auction. It almost hit $30 grand
The 65 looked still good for a tractor not built since 1964. 52 hp tractor for $3500 That AC combine was a 72 or a 90. $600 was criminal. What a walk away steal for a highly coveted machine Those AC all crops are in hot demand due to their ability to could cut and clean very small seed crops like clover etc. And that little JD grain drill would be perfect for the weekend farmer if it had a grass seed box. $425 for a 323 late model picker! This isn't an auction It's highway robbery. The owners had to be disappointed
If someone had about $20,000. to spend, one could have a complete small farm equipment line up, tractor(s) included. That's less than the price of a single new tractor today. Only thing I saw missing is a front end loader
@FarmallFanatic I have a 3/8 impact and a driver I have had them for a little while and haven't had a minutes trouble with them yet I also have a combination wrench set from there
To be specific 'category 2' or 1 for smaller tractors. Cat.3 is usually on 120+ hp . It takes a while to understand all of the tech jargon and slang. Have a great day
You're either attending too many auction or you need to build a data base like Machinery Pete. 😁😂 That was the 3rd one row picker since September sold at auction. There was one at Tri State for $1500 and Chesley for $375.
These guys make me laugh, mint , Original paint Corn planter 1st thing buddy does is use it for a muddy boot support. Dosen't even own it yet .I'd like to see it in a year !
It certainly is good equipment and CLEAN!
Definitely
I hope you never quit I love your tractors Auctions and red power in the Field love every video farmall fanatic ❤keep it up
It's not my plan that's for sure
Nice little auction, looked to be good quality stuff. That 65 diesel was the Belle of the ball in my opinion
💯

@dodgeman338 running strong...I bought one from the IH dealer
A nice line of well kept machines. Most were reasonable for the good shape
Definitely
That little JD 2 row was a nice little planter . Thanks for the auction content Geno !🇺🇸
Appreciate the view!

Smaller auctions are the best!
@@FarmallFanatic Yes they are.
All the tractors and implements look quite decent
They were
All that equipment was very clean looking. He must have kept stuff in immaculate condition and had inside storage on most of it. Some great buys
My thoughts exactly

@FarmallFanatic welcome Geno :)
My grandfather had an allis chalmers pull type combine just like it is perfect condition
Holy shit $ 2600 on that 2 row . Feed mixer and baler
were a good buy . Tractors were good price .
Someone wanted it
Nice looking 65 Massey Ferguson

Wow 65 brought good $
This was a good clean sale
Ths
Those older tractors were built to last!
It's amazing that a two row planter can go for that much! People add it's good for a plot it jumps a thousand dollars automatically!
Right!
Sweet corn Baby!
Those are definitely the best types of sales to go to. That one planter went for more than I thought it would.
It was a good one.
The semi- mount plow was an Oliver 4-16
Ok 👍
Nice seeing you yesterday. I got the lime spreader and you didn’t film it sell lol
I didn't get it on camera. I'll try to get more next time.
Boom
Guy kept his gear well.. Credit to him
Definitely
Not a bad deal on the MF 65 and JD 3010.. the JD 2840 went for all its worth IMO.
Agree

There's a 7210 magnum on an aumann auction in Gettysburg pa. 386 hours on it original. I bet it sells big
Should
Let's go let's Farmall 💪🏼❤
Always
thanks for the insight for a city guy
Glad it was helpful
Happy Thanksgiving FF!!
Back at ya!
That first 2 row JD corn planter brought plenty enough. Does it rain at all the auctions you go to ?
Yes...or snows
Great auction video as always 👌 the MF 65s were quite a popular tractor over here 🏴 great traction for draft work but just my opinion engines weren't very lively 😕
Thanks 👍

That top link on the JD corn planter ($725.00 model) belongs to the MF 65 tractor.
@@jamesolson9423 lol figures
Now that's a hay baler not to be confused with a hay roller.

If I knew you were there I would have definitely stoped and said hi

Kinda off topic, are you going to move the coop once more this year? I collect eggs for the neighbor, he's thinking about moving his one more time.

And you’re right about the front loader, that's a must have for any farm operation.
If that Massey Ferguson has a Perkins in it, it’s a good tractor.
Habor Frieght is a good place to buy your tools and your rechargeable drills impacts and drivers
I like the Harbor Freight brand for some things.
@FarmallFanatic I have a 3/8 impact and a driver I have had them for a little while and haven't had a minutes trouble with them yet I also have a combination wrench set from there
How do you find all of these auctions I'm in New York wish I could find a website to go on
Auctionzip
“Obligatory racoon turd” lol 😂
Lol
2840 is about 80 pto hp
The first plow that you showed on the video was an Oliver
Good to know
Buy cheap and be prepared to self maintain everything you can. I got plenty of tools, but probably something's missing.
looks like that deere is setup to help push wagons around
Right
My 14 year old son wants a 1 row picker in the worst way. They go for no less than a 1000 in our area
Gotta agree with your philosophy buddy
Retirement auctions are the best. Not consignment auctions, people selling their problems
Right
The 3010 went very reasonable
Good luck with that kubota . . .JUNK
How are u figuring?
Farming welcome to debt
Yep, just how much debt u can stomach
425.00 for that one row picker… good buy on that
Absolutely 💯
...I agree, a good set of hand tools....!!!......You load 16 tons and whadya get....another day older and deeper in debt.....(Hopefully not....)
Roger that
IH disks were always better than a John Deere disk
No red power?
Nope...more of an aid video for newbies
@FarmallFanatic gotcha
Tractor Therapy Session in Progress.
It sure is!
You keep using the word cap 2 what is actually a cap 2🤔?
I think he's saying cat 2 which is the size of the balls on the 3 point hitch arms hope this helps

Correct
Cat 2

2940 deere is 80 pto. Horsepower
2840
Yes 2840 is 80 pto. 2940 is the same just a newer model
You're either attending too many auction or you need to build a data base like Machinery Pete. 😁😂
That was the 3rd one row picker since September sold at auction. There was one at Tri State for $1500 and Chesley for $375.
Nah, I'm just gonna pass his boring arse in subs...still amazes me that he has a TV show...Bueller...Bueller...Bueller

Hey FF have a look at sunrise auction in ontario, if you get a minute real clean gas/diesel 400 nice tractor.
