as a former IHC dealer I have a suggeston for you --the easy one is take remove the shifter lever and check the bottom shape of the half circle shape on the lowest end of the lever--if its quite worn use your welder to rebuild then grind it back to an estimate of the original shape--re-install and try it-I have done a lot of these on farmall H and M models and always worked
I don't think I ever drove one that didn't come out when it slacked up. 5th doesn't mesh that deep. We always just wrapped our leg around the gear shift to hold it in.
Looks like this H had been fitted with steel wheels. It would have had the 5th locked out at that time. You will get to the bottom of it. Good luck young man.
check and see how much slop you have in the shifter its self the cross pin wears the hole out bigger . look up Farmall H Shift Lever Repair Pin Kit. little slop here a little slop there makes for big sloppy shifter
My dad always used to pop the bean can off the muffler that made my day when I was a kid riding with him

I think a super h engine with the h gears would be the ticket. I always thought a super h was geared a little high for heavy baling

If it pops out of 1st and reverse. It's the input shaft bearings. Split an h . And fixed it 40 years ago. Small engine class high school.
Probably have'nt had much done in that area in 80yrs.
Slider shaft and slider gear worn ,walk back under load.
20 sec into vid I've solved your problem. Torrenton bearing on input shaft to main top shaft. Why all the drama dude?
