@5:02 & 6:36 suggestion for both of these tops: Put on a short mid thigh, not tight skirt & wear it like a dress. That's what I did with mine & it works great. Lengthens my short stubby legs.🤣💖
I'd like to challenge you to walk into a Walmart or Target or Marshalls or TJ Maxx and show us how to put together 2-3 cute, non-frumpy outfits that are affordable and age appropriate because, let's face it, a large portion of Americans shop for clothing at those stores. If anyone can do this it's YOU!
Amen to this! Also looking cute for running errands, attending our kid's sport activities in hot sun/wind/humidity etc. I think so many of us wear boxy unisex tees and with capris or basic shorts. An "at the kid's baseball tournament in July" list of examples would be great! A gym-to-street option would be good too. Many of us work out in tight yoga pants/tanks then head to Walmart or run errands and don't want all the creepy men staring at our butt.
Also, many shop at these stores because they work with their budgets. Some are single moms with one or two jobs and children to take care of. Nordstrom is not an option. Thanks for thinking about doing this and perhaps actually doing it.
It would be awesome if you could show some longer (bermuda length) shorts & how you would style them. Not all of us can wear shorter shorts. I'm almost 65 and don't feel like the shorter lengths are appropriate, and I also have spider veins I want to hide. That being said, I still want to look current. I'm sure I'm not alone. Thanks! 👍😃
@40bdg I agree. I don't like my knees and legs that much. So I feel naked in shorter shorts. I also got rid of my spider veins abt 2 years ago and it was the best money I ever spent on myself. They looked like two huge bruises on my thighs. Painfull too whenever my legs got tired. It was cheap and easy to remove them, painless too. I wish I did that 20 years earlier, but who knew then. I recommend it so much. Check deals on groupon around you if you live in the USA. Best of luck.
@@megwhite8624 So do I. It looks really great. Also, when I see things like the moto jacket, I think, where do these people live? No one where I live would wear a sweater or jacket in spring or summer bc it is HOT.
True...I am 73 and look younger bec of my size....I always wanted to be tall but now am happy I AM 5FT 4IN I can wear petite or regular size much of the time...I was able to buy crop pants when they were popular and on sale and they fit me like ankle pants.
I’ve had bunions since my 20s and have been self conscious my entire life! Finding shoes that are comfortable, cute and that hide those ugly protrusions are a nightmare!
I don't hate my bunions. Even though I had them all my life. But finding a comfortable and good looking shoes is always a task. Naturalizer is one of the comfortable brands. Best of luck. @ Kwit
@Kwit, I hear you! Especially difficult in the summertime. I’m glad there are plenty of cute sneakers available. My summer shoe now because sandals are out, as much as I love them.
Ditto. I hear ya. In the summer, I wear espadrilles (closed toe with ankle ties and a little heel) and those work well for me. Otherwise I stick with chunky heeled boots (my fav tall leather boots are by La Canadienne - pricey but worth it, I've had mine for 8 years and still going strong), Ecco walking sneakers, metallic sneakers from M&S (UK), Sam Edelman Loraine Loafers, flat mules. Still trying to find a comfy pair of ballet flats that don't cut right into the bunions!!
I have the same problem! I've always been self conscious. No strappy sandals. And, my feet are slightly wide...not wide enough for a W, but enough to be a problem...especially sandals. UGH!!!
I live in Ft Myers where Chico’s home office is, and boy does the over 60 love the styles. I love their jewelry in small quantities… but yes, she is showing their line in this video. They also over do the palm and animal prints which are bleeding into WHBM. Old!
I am learning so much from you Erin, learning and evolving in 40's ... Wish I knew all this earlier, so simply and beautifully explained... You are a genius ❤️❤️
I have foot problems as well and if I’m going to be walking a lot I absolutely wear the most comfortable shoes but not then I will wear something a lot cuter with an orthotic.
I agree! I would love to wear those cute shoes with heels but I have terrible feet and bad knees and I just can't. I try to wear the nicest shoes possible but it is not always easy. Plus I am tall and do not need the heels.
Have you tried Clarks? I wear orthotics most of the time but when I want to dress chic for work I can go all day in my Clark heels or wedges. They’re expensive but they last for years.
In my day we referred to poopie butt as Diaper butt. I love your videos. I started a 2nd career at age 65 working as a photographer in the NM Film industry and I enjoy my life 100%. After 8 surveys and including fractures from L1 to L5, covid and being home so long I was looking homeless, and at 71 that is not a pretty picture, I am still going strong You reminded me of who I am and what I can do when I feel good about myself. Thanks! NOTE to ladies If I can do this at 71 YOU can do this at whatever age you are and all it takes is finding yourself and follow your passion.
Super ideas and suggestions! I agree that horizonal stripes flatter no one....but the capri length comparisons were an eye opener for me. I never thought about the most flattering "length" .... Thank you for your wonderful talent and guidance!!!
Hi Erin, I agreed with your choices but ‘frumpy Erin’ looked so happy. She was dancing and posing, I hope she didn’t cry when you took away her stripey coat? Lol. Loved it!
Frumptown is just one outfit away for me . I've got a flattering outfit on today but might slide into frump tomorrow . I kinda like that second outfit with the blue striped coat but it is the colour that is appealing to me . Sharkbite tops look especially bad on me - they emphasize the hips too much on a small frame . Amusing and relevant presentation !
I found your channel a few weeks ago and I absolutely love watching them. You inspired me to purge my wardrobe and I have slowly begun to fill it with your recommended basics. When talking petite I have a issue, Im barely 1.59 cm but weighing a hefty 80 kilos. Im not really round, but quite curvy and have a compact body. Been watching and trying to find if you had tips for my shape specific but no luck. Still grateful for this amazing channel ! love your energy and personal approach
Thank you, Britt and welcome! I'd start by taking your measurements and determining your body shape. I'll link a video here that will help show you how to measure. Once you determine your shape, then you can watch the video that is specifically made for your shape: ua-cam.com/video/DNDrVVoHtAw/v-deo.html
Super helpful. And relatable ! Life saver in a sea of confusion. I feel like I’m coming back from the dead and have no idea where to start! The shoes are so helpful. I’m a comfort seeker with a flat foot and weak ankle. So cute shoes are hard to find. Thanks so much
I loved that horizontally striped 3/4 length blue jacket! I would wear it with a popped collar, slim dark jeans and platform dark shoes (+hat, always!). A waist-length jacket makes me look stumpy and fatter...I have no waist to emphasize! Different strokes🤪!
I’m 35 & love your channel and tips, but this 1 specifically I had to share with my mom. She’s turning 60 this year & know she’ll benefit for this one 👏
Hi Erin love your videos I’m currently on a weight loss journey due to menopause blah anyhow could you maybe do a video that has shape wear just maybe what is good to use to smooth you out not trying to look skinny
Thank you, Melissa! I share a bit about shapewear in this video: ua-cam.com/video/GQXoZ1bOu7s/v-deo.html. You may find it helpful because the the video is focussed more on smoothing than looking smaller. xo
Great video. I feel like I watched the shoe part from a previous video and it helped me to buy a pair of more modern sandals. The biggest middle aged lady mistake I see is a look with white pants, colored shoes and colored top that matches. I don't wear that look any more and have green, red and blue shoes that never get worn now. I think other people said this but that emerald top is gorgeous on you! Thanks for the great content.
Thank you SO much, Katherine! Yes, the clips in this video are from older ones. This is a "best of" compilation style video featuring our favorite clips from our popular frumpy series. xo
Hi from UK! I love your videos! When you showed the jeans that "looked like you took a dump in your pants" I nearly fell off my chair!!! I love how you keep your videos fun and lighthearted 🤣
As an older woman, you tips are great. They really help those of us who want to stay on trend, do so without looking ridiculous, or as if we’re trying too hard. I will admit at 5’1”, I could just never do ankle pants, being as short as I am, I just feel, they cut my leg & make me look shorter. As a mature woman, stilettos are no longer in my shoe collection, it’s 3” heels & under for me, but I still rock a reasonable platform. Thank you for showing comfortable, yet fashionable shoes. For was too many years, I would shy away from these, as, to be honest, they were frumpy looking. So, it’s nice to see, that these companies woke up, & realized, yes, comfort can also be fashionable. Thank you again, for your tips, they truly are helpful.
I can’t skip the horizontal stripes. I hear this all the time and it’s the one fashion don’t I always choose to break bc I love them so much lol. I love the tips on here. I just have to keep my stripes.
Vionics shoes are cute, and made for those of us with plantar fasciitis or arch problems. They run from $120-250, and as a retired teacher who stood all day ever day, I highly recommend.
Kudos to you, Erin, and thank you! This is one of the most helpful videos regarding style I've ever seen. I loved every "after" look except the dress that stopped mid-calf and the sneakers (sorry). It appears to shorten the leg and I'm old enough to remember women wearing dresses and sneakers on the subways, buses or El trains (before changing into heels at the office) and it conjures up bad memories...Lol. I won't be sad if this trend goes away. I loved your clothing picks..you looked amazing! Thanks again for the tips! XO❤
You have given me so many great ideas and tips. I will be getting at least three of the items. Just what I needed thank you. FYI flip-flops cause bunions.
I recently discovered your channel from a Facebook video and I think you are terrific. I'm 58 and your style tips are spot-on. Your recommendations, especially in the area of accessories have raised my style game. Many thanks!
The tips are perfect for us who may not have it all together every day...lol...it’s a good reminder, we need that from time to time. Your like that girl friend that don’t want us to go out without looking our best version of ourselves.....😊 thank you Erin. Why ,oh why , do the people who make these ‘before ‘ clothes think in what World would that style of clothes make a woman feel good about herself.? Not this one, even with all that’s going on in the world today, we still like to feel good about what we wear, even if we are just in our houses and or going to get groceries. Stay safe people, take care of yourselves....❤️🇨🇦.
I love the jewelry tips . I got rid of all my big chunky beaded necklaces a few months ago . For one thing , they were heavy !! Currently Replacing with nice , lighter pieces I can wear every day .
I love this Erin, it can be challenging to style your look. The tips on capris and tops. Like you I am 5’1 but also large busted the combination makes it a challenge.
Hi Erin , I love your videos , your accent and your cheerfulness, you take us into your life and we learn so much and you improve my English vocabulary !!!
One of your best episodes this year. Every tip was spot on and made me chuckle because many of us “older” women make these kinds of choices on a regular basis. Thank you for giving us appealing options and ideas to change our look from frumpy to fabulous. My favorite tips are the shoe ideas. I will be giving away a few pairs of shoes!!!!!!
Ohhh I’m so excited!!! I know I’m a little bit late to the game but I’m totally lost with my style I’m turning 50 this year and I’m freaking out I don’t even have a style I don’t think so I just subscribed to your weekly and daily newsletter I hope this will help thank you so much for your UA-cam channel and for all day tips and tricks you bring us! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love this! I’m 66, and I don’t do frumpy. I see all of the boxy tunics, and wonder why women want to look like a square. I know many women want coverage for their tummies, but don’t go super oversize! You’re just adding weight and bulk at that point. And yes, the shoes are critically important. Good luck everyone! Have fun with your wardrobe!
Erin, you crack me up! What a wonderful helpful video! Now I know why the resale shop I frequent doesn’t take any of my Chico’s items, even basic white shirts. Thanks for your energy and your dedication to helping us feel and look good!
Thanks Lots of great ideas. I’m on the brink of 70 and fashion has always been important to me. You don’t have to pay a fortune to look good. You just need to know how to put it together.
This is a "Best of" compilation style video featuring our best clips from previous videos in our popular frumpy series. We thought it would be fun change. xo
Statement jewelry. I have such a variety of jewelry from vintage to chunky modern to dainty. Over 60% I don’t wear. I really need to weed out my jewelry box. I already got rid of half of my vintage brooch collection.
Fabulous tips, Lots I didn’t think of.....thank you! Your hair looks amazing in the green blouse. Love the colour and curl style. Thank you for all you share and do for this channel. Ciao.
So the first time I watched your frumpy video where you showed that great contrast between the "jailhouse" stripe top and the super-flattering diagonally placed thin stripe top I thought "wow that's amazing, look at the difference!!" For some strange reason, though, it did not cause me to toss immediately from my closet an old, unflattering, horizontal striped tee, that I regrettably wore just this past weekend. Apparently I needed to watch this second video before finally pulling it out and giving it the boot. Thank you, Erin!!!
I used to wear a popular brand on a shopping channel...until I realized all those ruffles, lace details were right on the widest part of my body...I donated those tops! Another great video....thank you!
What really helps is to have a full length mirror at home so you can see what you look like, your completely look !! Take another mirror to check yourself out from behind, to see your behind !!!🙂( I think it was Anna Wintour who said the most important accessory a woman can have is a full length mirror. ) Great video !!
I wholeheartedly agree with you about the shorts! That tapered look is so unflattering to my hourglass figure, but it is SOOO hard to find shorts with a little bit of an a-line and roomier legs -- and not too short, as I am 5'9"! Shorts must be designed by men who are clueless!
Love The Advice You Give.I Can't Wear Shorts or Short dresses. I've Cellulite On My Thighs And Dark Knees. Still Struggle With What To Wear. Love Your Advice❤
Thank you, Cynthia! If you don't want to wear shorts or shorter dresses opt for pants that hit right above the ankle bone and that are made from lightweight breathable materials. Midi length dresses are also super chic and cool in the summertime! xo
Erin, Those cute black and white print pants would look better with black strappy sandals to lighten the look. The sandals featured were too heavy looking for the pants. Also, that striped black and white top looked nice on you. You could wear anything and look great.
Thank you Erin for the clear cut instructions. It’s hard to look pulled together in retirement in a coastal southern community. I would love to see every day summer retirement outfits for a tall apple shape!
Aetrex-super cute sandles and wedges, boots....! , abeo- amazing arch support and cute sandles and wedges and boots and (vionic-heels for elegant) are for arch support and planter fasciitis 💕
The black dress with white top under and sneakers!! I love 💕 it. Just looked up to order everything unfortunately they do not have my sizes at this time LOL
I love that look too, Kim! Looks like the shirt is still in stock:rstyle.me/+acZ3dzvvPJUAKFrl4qFHfw. I found a few more sizes of the dress here: rstyle.me/+MA0tGiDiaVvYgLxXldR16Q I hope that helps, Kim! xo
Great tips! Any advice for those of us with flat butts? No matter how good my jeans are (Moussy Vintage is my new fave!) they can't do anything about the fact that my booty is non-existent. I'm a Zumba instructor so I work on lifting my booty, but at 49 I think it just is what it is. I need fashion tricks to make it look a bit more round.
I'm SO glad you find them helpful! Look for jeans with higher pockets that are a bit closer together. This can help make your butt appear more lifted and rounded. I talk a bit more about that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Y6eM9qzp7Zs/v-deo.html
Where were the jeans from that you wore with the diagonal shirt tucked in? They had the side diagonal buttons? I didn’t see the link! Fun video, very honest!!!!
I loved the shoe tips. I didn't realize how much the color can shorten your legs and as a petite woman that's the last thing I want. I'm also 5'4". I think that's what you said you were also. 👍☺️

The long dress with blouse and sneekers!
@5:02 & 6:36 suggestion for both of these tops: Put on a short mid thigh, not tight skirt & wear it like a dress. That's what I did with mine & it works great. Lengthens my short stubby legs.🤣💖
Kķ
Lovely 🥰 thanks 😊
I'd like to challenge you to walk into a Walmart or Target or Marshalls or TJ Maxx and show us how to put together 2-3 cute, non-frumpy outfits that are affordable and age appropriate because, let's face it, a large portion of Americans shop for clothing at those stores. The difference between the diagonal striped top and the horizontal one is amazing
Right?! It is so clear when you see them side by side! xo

Crotch framing tunic!! Omg hilarious!
I think the horizontal stripes look better on you. I think it would look great on me. The diagonal ones would draw attention where I don't want it.
The fact that your are so tiny and petite makes you look 20 years younger than most of us👍🏽
Great tips ❣️

It appears to shorten the leg and I'm old enough to remember women wearing dresses and sneakers on the subways, buses or El trains (before changing into heels at the office) and it conjures up bad memories...Lol. I won't be sad if this trend goes away. I loved your clothing picks..you looked amazing! Thanks again for the tips! XO❤
You're SO welcome, Pat! xo
You have given me so many great ideas and tips. I will be getting at least three of the items. Just what I needed thank you. FYI flip-flops cause bunions.
Glad you enjoyed, Lupe! xo
I recently discovered your channel from a Facebook video and I think you are terrific. I'm 58 and your style tips are spot-on. Your recommendations, especially in the area of accessories have raised my style game. Many thanks!
That's AMAZING! Thanks for sharing, Amy! We have a ton of videos on UA-cam that I think you will enjoy and find helpful! Welcome! xo
You're SO welcome, Bernadine! xo
I love the jewelry tips . I got rid of all my big chunky beaded necklaces a few months ago . For one thing , they were heavy !! Currently Replacing with nice , lighter pieces I can wear every day .
I love the Donald Pliner Fiji platform sandals. I have them in three colors, and an older pair in leopard. They are like grown up, more elegant Birks.
Perfect! Thanks for sharing! xo
I love this Erin, it can be challenging to style your look. The tips on capris and tops. Like you I am 5’1 but also large busted the combination makes it a challenge.
I'm SO glad you loved this one, Darcy! xo
Hi Erin , I love your videos , your accent and your cheerfulness, you take us into your life and we learn so much and you improve my English vocabulary !!!
You are SO sweet! Thank you, Michele! xo
Always great advice. Thank you!
Love your advice. I am over 70 and simple and elegant has always been my style so I am told. Ann from Va.
Thank you SO much, Ann! xo
Oh my goodness! What a difference all of the looks made!
I'm SO glad you think so! xo
Love your style videos and how you present the tips!
Super helpful tips!!! Thank you!
SO glad you found this helpful, Maureen! xo
Love love love your videos! ❤ Lots of great, useful ideas.
You made me crack up with some of your comments. Thank you!! :)
I'm so glad! xo
“Crotch- framing tunic”. I laughed so loud! 😆🤣
Right?!
Hi Erin...i hope you could do video or some tips on what to wear for a tall and skinny woman at 40s. Thanks and God bless😘
That would be great, I lol every time she says “ so you look taller” . At 5” 10 and 34 inseam, looking taller is not a goal 😎
Hi Erin, Can you do a video on sunglasses to suit faces and flattering frames to help proportion faces.
Great suggestion, Caroline! We are actually working on that research now. xo
I like the green top
Awesome! Even for under 40 👌🏻
Definitely! So glad you enjoyed! xo
You got this! So glad you are here...I think my videos will help! Take it one step at a time! xo
@@BusbeeStyle thank you Darling ❤️
The crotch framing tunic makes me laugh out loud every time. Hahahaha!
I'm SO glad you loved this one, Peg! xo
Erin, you crack me up! What a wonderful helpful video! Now I know why the resale shop I frequent doesn’t take any of my Chico’s items, even basic white shirts. Thanks for your energy and your dedication to helping us feel and look good!
You are so welcome, Melissa! xo
Love the dress with blouse underneath with sneakers.
Thank you, Teresa! I love that look too! xo
Thanks Lots of great ideas. I’m on the brink of 70 and fashion has always been important to me. You don’t have to pay a fortune to look good. You just need to know how to put it together.
Exactly, Marilyn! xo
Erin loving that mint/ blue pastel color. Girl you are glowing beautiful 🥰❤️☀️☀️☀️👏
Thank you so much!! xo
I'm pretty sure I have seen that video before, months ago... still fun to watch
This is a "Best of" compilation style video featuring our best clips from previous videos in our popular frumpy series. We thought it would be fun change. xo
Watch twice and take notes! A wonderful video.
I'm so glad , Cynthia! xo
Your lower body in those dark pants/jeans accented with the gold buttons looks phenomenal - example 3 (?). I'm tempted to get a pair.
Thank you SO much! They are a favorite of mine, but are pretty old and unfortunately sold out!
Ciao.
You are so welcome! xo
You are too funny...sometimes it doesn't resonate until we see ourselves in the look. So glad this was helpful, Jenny! xo
I used to wear a popular brand on a shopping channel...until I realized all those ruffles, lace details were right on the widest part of my body...I donated those tops! Another great video....thank you!
You're SO welcome! Glad it was helpful! xo
What really helps is to have a full length mirror at home so you can see what you look like, your completely look !! Take another mirror to check yourself out from behind, to see your behind !!!🙂( I think it was Anna Wintour who said the most important accessory a woman can have is a full length mirror. ) Great video !!
Yes! I absolutely agree, Karen! xo
LOVE the beige and white on you. Not so much me, but the shoes and everything ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, that green shirt is all you need. It was the top thing I’ve ever seen in your videos. Beautiful.🌷👑👼
Thank you SO much, Karen! xo
I love horizontal stripes but they don’t love me. I have one horizontal striped top with small stripes, but I layer a sweater over it.
Loved all of the tips.
Glad it was helpful, Audeliz! xo
Looks like i was right in my dressing style Fashion sense then all along , So glad i took Fashion designer & Cosmotlogy & Hair design , It all helps .
I'm starting to "curate " my wardrobe. The jewelry was a winner for me. I'm getting back into gold. THANKS
Yay! I love hearing that! xo
Thank you Erin for the clear cut instructions. It’s hard to look pulled together in retirement in a coastal southern community. I would love to see every day summer retirement outfits for a tall apple shape!
You are so welcome, Gina! We will be doing a ton of summer content over the next few months! xo
Love your videos! Video suggestions: dresses, rompers and jumpsuits for summer (easy and quick). Thanks Erin!
You got it! Thank you, Carol! xo
A dump in your jeans!!!😂😂 You are hilarious!!
Thank you 😊
One of your best video jet
Kip then coming please .....god knows some of us need your advice
Thank you! Will do! xo
Aetrex-super cute sandles and wedges, boots....! , abeo- amazing arch support and cute sandles and wedges and boots and (vionic-heels for elegant) are for arch support and planter fasciitis 💕
Now I know what I'll be throwing away. Thank you!
I found a few more sizes of the dress here: rstyle.me/+MA0tGiDiaVvYgLxXldR16Q I hope that helps, Kim! xo
@@BusbeeStyle Thank you so very much! Looks like such a cute teacher outfit LOL
Excellent tips and video ! 😊👍
Glad you liked it! xo
I love them all. Thanks
I'm SO glad! xo
Thank you for fabulous tips. Please do more on shoes. I find it difficult to wear high shoes but I’m short and need to appear taller! Help please
Cool sunglasses really do complete the outfit.
They really do, Michelle! xo
In #2, that color green is insanely gorgeous on you!
Thank you! xo
I'm SO glad you liked this one! Yes...I'm also 5' 4" tall. xo
