Kaleene, I loved this video and can relate to most! As a not brand new prepper,I would really appreciate a video series on basic home and farm security, both cameras and gates and outdoor security, as well as indoor security especially for children such as making a safe room in the bathroom or bedroom or such, forming and drilling security plans with the whole family, etc.
I'd also really love more videos on freeze drying down peppers. I have had mine for a year and have recently slowed way down right when I need to be increasing my food preps, because I'm stuck on what is best to freeze dry, how best to reconstitute meals or proteins so they are tasty, how best to store things... I would love a video or two on these things!! I know that between you and your hubby you will have already figured out the best way to do these things. I have chronic pain and I homeschool my kids, so I don't feel that I often have enough brain power or energy left at the end of the day to figure these things out. And I don't want to waste expensive food or supplies!
Thank you so much for this video, your channel is one of my very favorite for the encouragement and practical hands on advice!!

With both our boys living away from home they now have battery power stations and the skills to charge from their cars but also keep their tanks full in the event of having to get back home. It's the basics but makes me feel a little more secure.
Thanks for all your great videos. I really enjoy them and often find they prompt me into action

    Homestead goals:
    1. set up new raised beds (already purchased just ran out of summer) 2. continue work on earth-sheltered greenhouse (last year’s portion complete.) 3. grow more sunflower seeds for chickens, and 4. plant next layer of food forest (hazelnuts and raspberries were last year.)

Where I live you can’t have sheds in your yard.
For those to say move, it’s not always that easy to just move, people have lots of different circumstances.

Drawing closer to God is number one on my list along with keeping a journal. I started a 6 month list of things that I wanted to accomplished in the first half of 2024. I limit it to about 4 things each month, and one of those things on the list has to be a money saving item. I am amazed at how many things I have already accomplished on this list, WITH GOD'S HELP, even before 2024 started. Just two 2 days ago, I finished the last of moving my garden beds and getting them ready to plant up this month when the seeds arrive in the store (Houston, Texas). Please stress how important it is to write the goals down and pray over them. You will be amazed at how fast the list comes to fruition. I can't have chickens or other livestock in my city, but I can grow rabbits and have been thinking about doing that as I have raised Californian rabbits with my kids for Ag class. They are not difficult to grow, kill and dress out. I prefer chicken, but cannot raise them here.

Thank you so much for all of the advice you provide! I’ve never been a “prepper” nor have I thought about it, but now that I have two children under the age of 2 it really opens my eyes. I want to be prepared of anything that may happen and have that sense of security for not just myself, but my family. Your tips and advice truly will help me accomplish this!
    Thank you!!

I really appreciated hearing your honest, manageable goals. Goals seem far more relatable than calling them resolutions. There’s a scripture that says faith without works is dead. There’s another that says work while it is yet day. These are simple commands that are for OUR benefit (as is all of scripture)….yet, we sometimes avoid the Truth that those dictates provide. I honestly hadn’t set any goals for myself thus far. Going to ponder and pray and see where I am guided.

I started in 2020 and much of my foods now are past their Best Buy date! Tons of water stored in bottles and Gallons but fear the plastic particals have contaminated it after so long. My Biggest fear is if the SHTF, desperate people will bust in and wipe out everything I've invested years in prepping for!

This summer I got stung by some sort of wasp. Happened to have a sting kill wipe in the truck. It sure saved me a lot of pain. I am adding instant bee sting/jelly fish sting treatment to our family first aid boxes. Don't want the little kids to suffer that kind of pain.

Kyleen: Be mindful that your pets and your neighbors pets are inclined to find both quail and rabbits fascinating. They will dig under and climb over fencing. Cats are especially fond of birds and may catch them and not necessarily eat them. Also be mindful of urban wildlife. A lot of people are completely unaware of these animals because many of them are nocturnal and have adapted to urban environments. Rabbits are safer in a cage and will still thrive on garden and kitchen veg scraps with a few exceptions (potato peels are one of them) and reproduce well. You just have to get past the cuteness factor when it is time to harvest your rabbit crop, its better if you don't name them. Keep up the good work.

My first goal is all about sourdough bread making. I've gotten quite good. We don't eat many carbs but sourdough is one that we love. Also, bread is a wonderful gift and is filling for anyone hungry. This year I hope to DIY a rocket stove/pizza oven for efficient outdoor baking. We expanded our food production/preservation last year - I think I'm up to about 1,000 jars in the pantry but I'd like to find places to add wheat into our growing areas to further supplement bread making.

So appreciate your content and the common sense way you present. I have said this before but will say it again. Your channel is one of only two focussing on preparedness and self reliant living that I am subscribed to. My main preparedness objectives (not goals) are: 1) WATER To complete my rainwater harvesting system. Still waiting for a completion video of yours. Obtain a high volume water filtration system. 2) EMERGENCY POWER Redundant emergency power systems. That's a big one. There are smaller ones that will be worked on as well.

Most of our 2024 goals are related to the house. We purchased our house last summer and there's a lot of things we'd like to change or update, like a more robust front entry door, adding lights to the exterior of the garage, and taking out some of the overgrown (or dead) trees & shrubs. A lot of it I can do myself, some I can do with my spouse's help, and some of it (like the trees) we're going to have to hire out.

You might just add a little bit of carb to your evening meal making protein and fat the higher proportion of the meal. I personally have things in my pantry that I will eat in SHTF situation that I don't eat on a regular basis--pasta and pre=packaged foods. I will drop some pasta into soup, but I don't make a meal of it usually. I eat bread--sometimes in place of dinner in the form of a peanut butter and bread sandwich with milk and a slice of fruit. Vegetable carbs are a different story, but I prefer them fresh, frozen, dehydrated from my own garden, or canned as a last resort. If you live alone, you might consider getting with a group of girls and doing a one day cookathon. Each of you cook what would be a meal for the members of the group. Come together and divide it up into meals for the week--- or menu plan together for the week. Pitch in together and buy the meat and cook all the stuff you need to make it last for one week. 2 precooked chickens from the grocery store can be turned into all kinds of stuff for one week for 4 people.

like i say every year, i don't set resolutions i set goals (specifically with the SMART system). That measurable piece is so important in my opinion as it allows you to check in on your progress throughout the year. I don't always succeed (especially with the weight loss lol), but it does give me he opportunity to reevaluate and shift focus as I check in quarterly. For instance last year I realized at the end of q1 that I had hit 73% of my annual charitable giving goal but only 7% of my savings goal. This allowed me to reevaluate and shift priorities. Funny thing is, by doing this it actually tricks my mind into going above and beyond my goals (which while attainable are not easy). For instance last year I ended on q4 hitting just over 250% of my charitable giving goal and 120% of my savings goal.
One of my big goals this year is to learn 6 new skills. I'm still in an apartment and there's a hard ceiling on how much i can physically prepare here realistically. But knowledge weighs nothing, and with all the resources out there (classes at public library, etc) doesn't even have to cost much to acquire. I'm also continuing my savings goals towards buying a property so I can work towards more long term preparedness.

Love you guys! Great video!..Its sad to see the word Chaos, etc in your titles these days. I’ve been following you for years now and it just used to be, how to build a rocket stove if your electricity ever goes out, how to use mylar bags, etc....And, we’ve all been doing our best to do whatever we can all this time, to have a little food put aside, some candles, solar, water…etc for times such as these.. Its just scary how fast the world changed for the worse and we’ll never go back to normal.. Maybe I didn’t really think I would live to see the world like this!..I listened to Psalm 91 on YT on the way home from work tonight to get some comfort from God’s word..And with the new year starting out with 3 earthquakes, the political insanity that will only get worse as the year goes on, the fuel of hate that will rise from that, I just wish I could sell my house and move to the country..Oh well, thanks for what you do and we’ll all keep watching and learning.. 😊🙏

I have made many resolutions in the past and didn’t follow up with any EXCEPT my last resolution made about 50 years ago. That resolution was “to make no more resolutions”. That I have kept.

Stock up if you can as food prices are highly likely to go even higher imo .

I checked the Box and it was 175 grams hmm
I checked the boxes in the pantry one box was 225 g another 200 g and 175g all the exact same item ,the prices have increased a lot too. shrinkflation is getting bad .

I have never had chaos or any problems with food and fuel. I did have cancer, now have diabetes. Those are my real problems. For prepping I have never had one prepping problem in 60 years since I was a Boy Scout at age 12. Enjoy my off grid cabin. Enjoy camping and nature. So far, in MN here, never had a problem of any kind. We did have the George Floyd riots but I was in Saint Paul, MN. Sheds are an issue. I have too much junk. Decluttering is on the agenda. Exercise, lose weight, eat whole food. That's it.
