I agree because you won't find out it doesn't work until it doesn't work during a EMP attack LOL you won't even know the attack is there until everybody starts getting sick and then it too late to use a device and everything and if you live right now the rest of your life with wrapped up in some kind of device then nothing happens well that would be kind of silly to why spend your time worrying about that there's other things to be more concerned about like people's salvation. I just had a lightning strike hit a large oak tree about 25 ft. from my home. We did not notice any electrical problems until my wife tried to use the electric clothes dryer. It wasn't working. We went to the electrical box and saw that the breaker was tripped. Hit the breaker and a flash bang it tripped again we hit it a few times and finally looked up on top of the panel the EMP SHIELD was almost black like it had been burned. Then we knew lightning had hit our electrical system. We had an electrician come out that day and he knew what happened. He took off the panel cover and showed us what happened. The EMP SHIELD has to be connected to a 220v line and that was the dryer. He disconnected the wires to the dryer and all was well.
The EMP SHIELD took the hit from the lightning and did its job with on harm to our electrical box or service. We called The EMP people and they sent a new unit out to us in 2 days at no charge (usually its a $50. charge).
    THANKS GUYS.

You are correct, an EMP will likely be the worst case scenario we could experience. And a hard reality that most Preppers either do not realize, or refuse to see is that there really is no way to prepare for an EMP. Once Society collapses, likely within a few days of an EMP, it will be every man for himself. Those who have prepped will be able to survive a little longer, but only some of them. If anyone knows that you are a prepper, and have stockpile food, you are a Sitting Duck! Once your neighbors kids start dying of starvation, those neighbors and friends of yours will turn to desperation and will take from you whatever they have to do to survive. And I feel sorry for these UA-cam Preppers, everyone knows that they have a stockpile of food and supplies. They will be the first ones to go down, and likely lose their lives in that process. The key in prepping is to not let anyone know. That will buy you a few more days, a few more weeks maybe longer depending on where you live.

Actually, I think the solution to the mobs of people wanting your stuff is not keeping it a secret, but rather gathering a group of like-minded people to form a group to protect each other. And of course spreading your stash in different locations.

    • @theoriginaldashriprock
      @theoriginaldashriprock Рік тому +32

@@theGEnericE that's a good idea in theory, but it's not practical. If you live in your home, your support group is going to be where? In the end There's no practical way to be ready for and to be able to defend yourself in a situation like this. Again, in order to survive you will have to be on the Run. It will be sad for the elderly and for the weak, and those with children.

In my humble opinion a powerful widespread cyber-strike is the most devastating weapon humanity has, and would cause destruction and death beyond the worst nuclear strike. It could literally send countries back to the dark ages.
EMPs and CME's are overrated especially from the prepper community, and there's been a lot more research by scientists and engineers to protect trillions of dollars in businesses than the prepper community understands.
All I know is a glorified surge protector isn't going to protect you as you expect. Positive, negative, and ground wires?? Sus, and most likely prepperbait. The most sure way to protect against an EMP/CME is a Faraday cage.

I feel fortunate to live in an area where religious leader have preached the need for food storage, while very few families have stored enough, most have some. There are local church leaders that will take charge of our little area or delegate as needed. Many assignments have already been made. The local church leaders are networked to area leaders, then to regional leaders, & then to global leaders. My fear is that these leaders will try to work with the government. There will still be a few lone wolves but not many as they would eventually need help also.
The fear of complete SHTF I feel is overblown and only the smallest chance of happening. My fear is the SLOW burn of society (which is happening now in my opinion).

Marfoogle news have been pushing "emp shield" for years now as an affiliate. Firstly, how do you REALLY know that it works? It could be the ultimate scam? This channel is pushing their products because they're getting them for free from the company to push onto us? Free advertising? To the exact niche audience who would be suckered into paying their extortionate prices? And secondly? With a CME with the power of the Carrington event? Even if the shield did work? The houses to the left, right, front and back of you, plus your town, even your state, will be on fire. Just something to think about. They are a business and all businesses are profit driven.

First of all, have a pre solid state diesel vehicle as a back up.
Second buy a older exec condition or rebuildable 1940's to early 60's Generator, and place the
unit in a real faraday cage
for storage preferably underground or in a sub basement.
Third purchase older robust electrical gear like Motors and pumps. The more pre 1970 and the more heavy duty the better.
Forth: Purchase and FULLY rebuild one of the BIG Three
TUBE General coverage radio receivers from the late 1940's to 1960. they are:
      U.S.Army R-390 or R-392 units.
      Hammerlund Super Pro 600
National Radio HRO 50 or 60
      With ALL the coil draws.
In any case replace all the aging capacitors even it the
      unit is operational at present
Also always have three back up TUBES in storage for each tubes on the chassis.
Have as many as possible 1960 back tube Transmitters
Like the Johnson Viking or Ranger or the World Radio
Labs 300 or the better sets from Hallicrafters. some people use 1950s kit trans mitters from that Era.
Purchase and properly rebuild a good TUBE CB Radio from the pre 1970
Era of CB. Like Poly Com,
      or Regency or Browning or
Marie use intended units like Ray Jefferson.
      And don't forget batteries.
car batteries which will no longer crank cars WILL often give a few years of reliable 12 Volts continuous service. A lot of rejuvenation techniques DO work! But
you have to get to know the ropes AND any close contact with batteries IS can be very DANGEROUS. Always take precautions like eye and hand protection.
Good luck and we need you to survive and fight.

HEMP is a high energy (megawatts), broad spectrum (all frequencies), nano-second pulse. While the device inside Mr. Bucchin's EMP shield may be an extremely fast avalanche device, the wires (or inductors) leading in and out of the device slow down, attenuate, and basically isolate the device at extremely high frequencies. Furthermore, while I don't doubt Keystone's ability to create a testable pulse disturbance in the lab, no one really knows if a device is EMP proof unless it is subjected to a real-world EMP. As far as I know, I don't think anybody has actually detonated an EMP to see if their stuff says what they claim. IT"S ALL SPECULATION!

You're pretty sharp, JD! So few people have done anything to survive an EMP, be it at their home or business, they won't make a bit of difference when the time comes. Not only did I work for SoCalEdison for 15 years, but I learned a lot about the power grid even before then.
The magnetic field pulse from either a CME or a nuke over our heads, will travel through everything that is not properly shielded, and induce a surge of electricity in it. Diodes and transistors generally run on less than five volts, so the amount of electricity being broadcast per square yard won't need to be very high to fry them. Every power line, both Transmission (high voltage, like 66KV to 220KV) and District (25KV and lower) will be a giant antenna, picking up huge amounts of electricity from the air. If you go to YT and see the arc of electricity between the contacts of a line disconnect that has been opened, that is from the electricity that is in the air all around us. There are huge circuit breakers with pressurized Sulfur Hexa Fluoride gas that are opened up before those disconnect contacts are opened up. The gas under high pressure keeps the high voltage electricity from jumping the contact gaps inside.

This is a very interesting conversation. As a former U. S. Air Force, Strategic Air Command officer, the question is more, Do you want to survive any of these issues? In the 70"s I really thought about this a lot. My choice is to be as close to ground zero as I can get. Am I prepared, of course. However, if you want to be the 10% that survives any of this, It will be a very slow and painful death to just become the 1/2% of the remaining. Your life if you still survive it will be life resembling the middle ages. You will not be able to grow food due to radiation, wildlife will be contaminated. Okay, you will need a shelter to live, clean air, water, that you cannot leave for at least a year. Do you have 10 plus years of food before you can start growing anything.

While what you have posted is mostly accurate for areas that have fairly dense population, industrial, high tech or Military bases near by. There really is no place to go that could provide survival for anyone in those regions. There are areas in the Rockies and Sierra Nevada Mountain ranges and the Oregon
Cascades that are remote enough for seasoned young outdoor type people. I grew up in Carson City, NV., and I know of several areas that provide good remote survival possibilities. Living out in these places will be very challenging and most difficult for the first timer. If a few have camped in those area, life can be sustainable since you will have some basic knowledge. It will be a 24 hour a day job. If Kit Carson the great Western scout can survive in the mountains of the wild West, others will also survive. Of course Kit, at one time had a very knowledgeable native American wife who knew where to look in the forest for edibles. I married an Island girl that grew up in a small island north of Okinawa and her mom had a wealth of knowledge about what island plants were edible and what could be harvested from the sea when the tide was out, not to mention best ways to catch fish. So those are all parts of the secret to survive for as long as you can. That Island I consider my second home, but I did have help since my wife and her family are well known and well liked in their village and around the island.

If your ears can hear an explosion, they can be damaged (so wear hearing protection at all times 'to be safe' from loud noise damage).
If your electronics can pick up RF energy, they can be damaged - unless isolated well enough (like ears).
Antennas, cables and wiring in general pick up RF energy, and the longer the wiring the lower the frequency it is capable to pick up (at long range anyways, and this is where it 'counts' - below 1GHz, which has a wavelength of 0.3m or around 1 foot)
Removing any antennas from equipment not in use and wrapping/enclosing it in metal (Faraday's cage) is essentially the same as wearing ear protection on ones head - it will attenuate the incoming RF energy from damaging to tolerable levels.
EMP protection devices must therefore be very close to the item you want protected, and it must connect to all inputs and outputs with cable/wiring/antennas - if it will work as intended. (This is also what electrical type-testing or ElectroMechanicalCompatibility EMC requires, so devices won't interfere or be vulnerable from other devices interference)
Is a metal bucket a scam, no (not if the lid is made of metal and it is placed on the bucket) - but it is quite impractical to use whatever is inside.
Is 'EMP protectors' located far, far away (meters, yards) from say ones TV which has an antenna hooked directly up to its RF input port a scam... Most likely, and if grounded - it might even make things worse, if RF energy can flow through the antenna input, through the TV and into your 'protected' safe-zone ;ø)

EMP Shield is just a fancy surge protector that has a response time fast enough to shunt the E1 component. We use the Siemens FS140 with a 1 nanosecond response which is plenty fast enough for any EMP.
Thing is, no EMP protection will keep your electronics safe from a Nuclear EMP because the E1 couples directly into the electronics at the circuit level.
Siemens FS140 is about $200. Dr. Arthur T. Bradley from NASA recommends the FS140 over everything else. He is a PhD Electrical Engineer with specialty in electromagnetic wave propagation and has done extensive testing.

No one knows exactly how all of this will sort out. I believe that there are more good people than bad. There are more heroes than villains. I work hard to be a good Christian everyday. I've done everything that I reasonably can and I'm turning the rest over to God.

And anyone who has a stockpile of anything, it will be taken from them by the desperate. There will be no law enforcement, there will be no medical services, there will be no way for you to defend yourself, other than with what firearm you have in your hand. The reality is that in order to survive, you will have to be on the Run, otherwise you'll be a Sitting Duck.

An EMP going off over our country is pretty low. If your home is lit after an EMP your a target for those who don't have power. The Grid would be destroyed and the power would be out for a long time. In my opinion you will need some if the following: Woodburning stove for food prep and heating, cast iron pots and pans a good supply of fresh water and a place to store it. Plenty of dry goods and self protection tools and seeds for those tools and a good head on your shoulders. Thats it.

As for pacemakers...their are mixed opinions on this, but the most prevalent is that they will likely survive since they are tiny devices with some protections already built in. As for the vehicle EMP Shield, you really need to evaluate whether it is a priority. There are many good things that need our attention...if this is down the list it should wait. We strongly encourage everyone to live frugally and prepare in the best way they can without any unnecessary debt. Thanks for doing great things...keep making it happen!

If you live in an apartment building, you can create a Micro or mini safe zone.
First, do you have a Circuit breaker box in your apartment? If you do then having an EMP SHIELD will give some protection because you are isolating your unit from the rest of the apartment. Think of EMP Shield is like a " FIREWALL" it's there as protection. As they say just like chicken soup " It Can't Hurt",
Second, Do you have a ballcony or access to the outside from within your apartment if you do then you can setup solar panels with batteries for storage energy and or use a Small generator if needed. PLEASE USE GAS OR PROPANE GENERATOR WITH LOTS OF VENTILATION A.K.A OUT SIDE NOT IN YOUR HOME OR APARTMENT. PLEASE STORE ALL FUEL FOR GENERATORS WITH LOTS OF VENTILATION OR OUTSIDE NEVER IN DOORS
Get some EMP bags to keep your Emergency equipment in. Find out how to me make a faraday cage to store equipment.
Use the nesting method for protecting items. That's put a box in a box concept. Use multiple layers increase survivability of items.
It's a lot but we'll worth learning what to do.
YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO BEAT AN EMP, AFTERWARDS YOUR OUT OF LUCK .

Great Question and awesome responses. Each situation is a bit different...look at your situation and evaluate your options. A great place to start is building a community of family and friends who are like-minded and develop some plans. You will want to be discreet in your decisions about who to include. Food and water (stored and the ability to find and purify) are high priorities, as is security and personal protection. Look for safe, low tech solutions to meet your needs, but a protected power station may help with critical needs such as medical equipment, etc. Travel will be difficult...perhaps not possible or safe. Having a community close is not just nice, but critical if at all possible. If you have vulnerable electronics that you will want/need, build or buy a Faraday enclosure to protect them. Look at everything you do and determine is that activity is critical, and if so, how you will meet that need. So much of our world revolves around all things electronic/digital. I certainly hope and pray that an EMP/CME never happens, but as I look at our crazy world and the threats that are facing us, we need to prepare as best we can. In my opinion, the most important thing you can do is develop/strengthen your positive, faith-filled attitude of cheerfully doing what lies within your power, then allowing God to take care of the rest. This will drive and direct you and bring peace of mind. SMALL STEADY STEPS! Connect back if we can help further...keep being part of the solution!

I have 3.5 mil and 7 mil mylar bags with ziplocks, that can also be heat-sealed, and I love them for storing dehydrated greens, veggies, nuts, and grains. (I like to Pack Fresh). I put my phone in a bag and closed it, and asked my wife to call me, and the phone never rang; both bag thicknesses blocked the radio waves. Out of the bag, both phones worked. If nothing else, I expect that keeping your phones in such quart or gallon mylar bags would prevent the 24X7 pinging and nonstop surveillance that we are constantly subjected to. Don't let the jerks trace your location; only use your phone when YOU want to use it. Similar mylar bags are also available in 2 gallon and 5 gallon sizes. QUESTION for anyone: I am wondering if such EMF signal blockage would imply that these inexpensive (25-50+ cents) bags could also be used to protect phones, LED's, radios, flashlights, etc from a major solar or weaponized EMP ???

    • @experimentmagnet
      @experimentmagnet Рік тому +2

If your bag is non conductive, it doesn't do anything.... period... physics. It also has to be thick enough to shunt (short out) the energy absorbed.
Fun experiment. Put an old CD ROM in the microwave for 30 sec. (Don't breath the results) great demo of a shield that isn't heavy enough. Put your mylar bag in the microwave. Did it burn up like the CD? Do nothing (non conductive)? Or get hot as hell and maybe toss sparks from the corners... (that one might just work).
A microwave oven is a pretty damn good EMP simulator test.

I am normally a consumer of Contant. But when I see information that will miss lead preppers, I feel I have to correct that information. This product will only protect this product according to its own testing most electronics will be safe or partially damaged, depending on the impact of E1, E2 and E3 event if you are directly impacted Only a faraday cage will save you most will not be directly impacted. Meaning your car and all electronics will most likely operate or mostly operate. I feel fear tactics are in here to get you scared they don’t mention reactor stations that would trip or any other black sites or safety measures or counter measures that are already in place for these events, I love the prepper community and need to let you know that this is an issue but not as big of an issue unless you are directly impacted within a few miles. If that happens, you’re most likely screwed, but the area outside that is most likely going to be fine meaning that you will not take everything out unless we are attacked by thousands of these which is unlikely And the probability of intelligence on this is Linda not yes the risk is there, but the risk is low and the risk for hitting you directly is most likely very low or minor impact so even if it shut your car off, it will most likely turn back on with the check engine light on, but still function I hope this information helps my fellow Americans when seen information like this, reduce the risk and probability meter and focus on preps. As always be prepared.

As a E.E. for over 40 years in power plant generation I have seen all types of suppression, protection, screening, shielding and a lot of hype in consumer products out there. Professional EMP products use a ferrous metal enclosure Ridgid metal or EMT physical conduits shilding all wires. PVC does not! People think for a minute a true faraday cage is steel enclosure not aluminum, not copper screens! Non steel only works for electro-static discharge (like a Van de graaff static generator).

Why does everyone refer to the Carrington Event and claim falsely the electrical grid is going to go down. Yes there was an event that made issues with telegraph lines and the electrical grid. These modern claims completely ignore the fact that in 50 years, the CME events are better understood, and the electrical grid has been updated to be immune to the event.
For example, Telegraph and telephone lines used earth ground as part of the circuit. With a CME event, the earth's magnetic field separate the charged particles and create the Aurora as the current flows through the atmosphere to the ground. This puts a high current in the ground,. This makes the ground for point A a different voltage than point B, so current tries to take the lower resistance path through the wire. In addition, exposed wires can collect some of the current in the atmosphere and put DC current on the AC lines. This caused transformer core saturation and failure.
Fast forward 50 years. Enter the various High Voltage Labs, such as the one by Bonneville Power Administration in Vancouver Washington in the USA. Google it and see the nice photographs and videos.
One major change to the electrical grid is the breaking of the DC path between substations. One transformer has a Y winding to provide a ground for DC charges as well as a path for lightning. For the actual lightning strike, the inductance of the transformer is high, so to ground the HV pulse, lightning arrestees are used throughout the system. Now a pulse is shunted safely to ground, DC charges are shunted to ground, but a DC ground potential difference does not cause high DC current on the line, so the transformers are safe.
Sorry this is so long, but there is so much dis-information out there based on 50 year old knowledge. SCADA Supervisory Command and Control is connected between dispatch and the substations on Fiber Optic Cable. Yes lighting does occasionally take out a local fuse, or re-closer, but is is far from a nationwide outage.
Spreading Fear is a great way to sell products, even if you know the truth, your customers often don't and can be sold on fear alone.
Knowledge replaces fear. Yes we know more about CME than we used to. We know more about lightning than we used to. We know more about EMP than we used to, but we know a lot more about protecting the power grind to make it more robust. There are huge advances in monitoring, circuit protection, and design improvements for reliability.
Go ahead and study CME and EMP. You probably have lighting covered except a direct strike. Now study the protection of power distribution systems. It is a fascinating field. Ignore the fear by anyone with a product to sell to protect against the unknown.
The Microwave oven as a faraday cage is just as described. The reason for this is the door seal is a tuned antenna. Take apart an old microwave oven sometime to expose the bent row of tabs in either the door, or in the rim of the cavity. This antenna shunts the microwave operating frequency and is not effective against other frequencies. EG the 2.4 GHZ signal is contained with very low leakage, but a 5.8 GHZ cell signal is unaffected by the door seal. Use an old paint can instead and hammer on the lid for an electrical seal.
Wow, the amount of the lie of a single device protecting the whole house, while providing no RFI and with that EMP shielding. The device for the house is a lightning arrestor. No the Wheelchair or CPAP is NOT protected from a radiated electromagnetic pulse, just because it is plugged in. Please stop the disinformation to sell a snake oil product.
