Telling apart a 4 and 6 cylinder is really, really easy tho. Listen to a CA18DET and an RB25DET. The engines are basically identical apart from the RB having 2 extra cylinders. They sound very different just like all 4 vs 6 cylinder engines. Also, some clarification on the models Altezza RS200 has a 3S-GE beams 2.0L i4 engine the IS200 has the 1G-FE 2.0L i6 with a 6 speed trans the IS300 has the 2JZ-GE 3.0L i6 with a 5 speed trans
I have the same colour is 200, only with the black interior. I have owned it five weeks now, and I couldn't be happier. It's gonna take me a while to grow tired of it stock, but I am here looking at possible future upgrades. God I love these is 200's. The downside is no cruise control in the manuals, and very high track sensitivity on the 17 inch Lexus rims.
Love the vids. Please bruh keep the channel going like you have. Don't mess with cinematics with generic music etc (thatdudeinblue, tj hunt, everyone basically). Keep it simple!
I think I just saw this car in Burton on Trent in Staffordshire yesterday, it was a supercharged IS200 in this colour anyway! It had a single 4" or 5" exhaust pipe though
With a supercharger you do not need to run a Blow off valve at all as it runs off engine RPM through the throttle so as soon as you let off the throttle the supercharger stops pumping compressed air through.
There's Supercharged is200 in my town. I swear couple times guy flew past I thought it was McLaren P1... Then other day I saw it. I was like how in the hell this thing sounds like that. Now I know.
Not super keen on the whine, and I love turbo noises. That said, a supercharger build is a lot easier since you can run standard headerback exhaust. Might do something like this to mine.
I'd say super charged. My reason is the power difference isn't big enough for these engines. Most I've seen out of one of these is around 420bhp but that was like a full engine strip and rebuild with forged internals.
Plamen Nicolov i have the tte version compressor they told me to put a bigger pulley and change the injectors in to 230. What advice you give for mapping or piggyback or change the ecu in halltech
Well, if you have the standard version, you're using a 130mm pulley, which gives you about 0.3-0.35 bar of boost and 205 hp. Your best option is to get a 150mm pulley for 0.5-0.55 bar of boost and change your injectors to 1ZZ-FE ones. They are 260cc and are perfect for this boost - all AFRs are good and I have many customers running this setup without any issues. At this point you don't need any mapping, as you're still in the correction threshold of the stock ECU. This will give you about 240 hp. Anything over that and you'll need a piggyback or a standalone ECU - There are guys running a 160mm pulley with 0.7-0.75 bar of boost with 2ZZ-GE injectors and Greddy eManage Ultimate piggyback ECU without issues and as daily drivers. This setup will make about 260 hp. I'm making the pulleys you'll need for 110,00 EUR incl. shipping in the EU. I can safely say I have the highest quality ones on the market and have sold over 40 already.
This particular one isn't THAT strong. Good for 260 hp reliable when supercharged, 280 hp reliable when turbocharged and the absolute max is 300 hp turbocharged. Any higher than that and you'll need rods and pistons.
Nice project.I really like chasis. This color is really nice and rare. I'm couriuos what kind of injectors, He used(size or from what kind ofengine) ?? What kind of ECu?
What I'd like to know is, how is the old, 4-speed auto doing in a IS200? If anyone has any experience with it, that is. I'm wondering if it (the autobox) would handle the added torque of a supercharger. Yeah, I know .. why bother with automatics, get a manual and so on. I can't drive a manual. Period. Now if anyone has any answers .. do write something please.
To be honest I don't know, but I think some guys on the is200 pages on Facebook could help you out there. There's a guy called Marc Soars who sells various parts for the car and is very knowledgeable about them, you could probably ask him if you contact him via his website.
If you’re still in the market for one, the automatic gearbox in the is200 is a complete piece of shit. It’ll get you A to B, but if you plan on driving it enthusiastically it will not last. From my experience it lasts about 10 months to a year before the gearbox starts giving out.
@@andersonphromjom7684 I did buy one, yes. It was november or december 2021. '99 IS200 automatic. ~190'000 km back then. 230'000 km now and still no problems, but still no supercharger either. I want to keep it, but sadly it's nowhere near fast .. Marc Soars said the gearbox will handle the supercharger. I might still go down this route.
Hey! After watching this video I was very tempted to do the same for my lexus. But there is one think that i want to ask. Can i get some drawing of that supercharger holder? Or maybe some picture? That would be a really big help for me. Thank you in advance! :)
The ECU is OK up to 0.28 bar of boost, so he's just put a fuel cut defender on it. He's running 0.5 bar of boost which is really the most you can get out of it with just a fuel cut defender. More than that and you need some kind of piggyback to run the fuelling and/or timing advance. But for what they are, the ECUs on these cars are reaaaaly smart and can adapt the fuelling and ignition timing to boost.
in most of the countries in Europe swapping a non-standard engine is illegal. Meaning, if there was no IS produced with that engine, you cannot put in it, otherwise you won't get MOT. That is why people here gotta work with what's in the car. In theory you can put a 2JZ-GE in it, but IS300 is not IS200, so it depends on the country if they accept it
All in should be no more than 25-30kg. The heaviest stuff is the cradle and the supercharger. Everything else is aluminum piping, silicone connectors, an aluminum pulley and a fuel line. Also you remove some unnecessary factory stuff like the stock engine cover/intake, some brackets etc.
Check out a video for a black turbo 300 running around 1000 bhp. I think the block is still a ge block but with a head rebuild or something like that. Think the car is called the jet.
It uses the Eaton M62 out of a Mercedes Benz SLK230K, CLK230K, C230K, E200K, C32AMG, SLK32AMG, CLK32AMG all up to 2001. It's good for 240 hp without much modifications and 270 hp with A LOT of supporting mods.
Yes, it's a roots one with a bit of an angle on the rotors and rear inlet. So not a classic roots supercharger, but with some twin screw characteristics.

What's fuel like? Mpg is the main reason I don't go for a decent build
The factory boosted model made 205hp and only lost something like 3% fuel economy. I can't speak to this custom build but it's still a tiny engine.
Oh that's not bad at all. I guess fuel economy isn't too bad of an issue for building cars
Heard these engines don’t take well to super chargers or turbos
if the alloys are volk racing alloys they'll be stamped/cast also saying such on the rear
