A few weeks ago, I cut my husband's hair for the first time and needed some guidance. Your video was by far the best I'd seen online. Thanks to you, his haircut came out great! Today I cut it again and watched your video to refresh my memory on how to do it. After the first haircut, I told you that you deserved to have a million views (you had 19K) and wow, now you are over a million and have sponsors! I'm really happy for you. You totally deserve it.
I am a cosmetology student and sadly my teachers did not go into depth on a men’s haircut. This was the best video I have found by far!! Thank you very much!!!

Clever clever lady ⚘ it takes nerves of steel when it's not your natural profession. Making your hubby and dad proud - giving 'us' the courage to have a go. Thank you ⚘
Out of all the tutorials on how to cut men's hair, the is by far the best one that explains the hows. I really appreciate that it was done in "slow motion". It was very helpful to see how to cut it while you were explaining it. The down side, however, the music was drowning your voice out. Less background music and more of your voice. Great job! Thanks!
I tried this on my brother and it went very well. Here are some tips- Trimmer/clipper part will be easy. You can't go wrong in that because the length is fixed. Now coming to scissors, it's only natural to be a little scared for a beginner (like me). Trust me, just go with it. Always make sure there is comb in between the scalp and scissors before cutting, so that you don't get the hair too short. You don't have to be perfect, just go for it. It will surprisingly take shape on its own. It fact, I felt using scissors was faster and easier after some time. Also thank you for the amazing tutorial🤗
Thanks for your tutorial. I have watched 4 different clips and found yours easier to follow. I have never cut anyone’s hair before. Now my younger son’s (aged 12) hair is soooo long for the summer in quarantine lockdown, I am obliged to try. Voila! I put the ipad next to us, paused and followed thru. After 1.5 hour, we are so pleased with the results. Thanks! Now my older son (aged 16) books me for next weekend to cut his! Wow! 5 stars!
I wonder how many men have the same haircut now because of this video 😁 I'm going to cut my husband's hair since he hasn't had a haircut for a year now and he'll be one of the men who have this haircut 😅
This is the best hair cutting tutorial I’ve watched - as someone who has never even picked up clippers, let alone switched them on, I now feel confident to tackle my teen’s overgrown hair. Thank you so much lovely 💙
My 12yo son has barber anxiety. He had a bad haircut before and now will only go to a certain barber that lives the opposite side of my city. It’s a big journey so a real inconvenience. His hair grows so fast and he was in need of a cut, I couldn’t travel to the barber he usually uses.. but he refused to go to our local barber shop. I found your tutorial and was able to cut his hair myself, successfully. He wants me to do it from now on! Saves me money, time and makes my son feel at ease.. Great!
I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair since the start of lockdown last year, I always go back to this video. My husband said I get better each time😂🥰 Thank you for this🙏😍
This is such an excellent video !! I just finished cutting my 16 year old son's hair for the first time and it turned out really well! He is actually willing to go out in public! It was not as easy as Chelsea makes it look, but her instructions and video is so well done that I was able to do it!! My haircut turn is next. I will have my wife watch and follow your video as well. Thank you for posting this!!
I've cut my boyfriend's hair 4 times now I learned how by watching this video and refer back to it each time! It's awesome and easy to follow and we're both happy with the hair cut every time! 10/10 tutorial!
In the dozen hair cutting tutorial I’ve watched the last couple months, I found this to be the easiest way to follow. Now I can improved my cutting talent 😂 (right my talent for the couple months having to cut my husband and son’s hairs while quarantine) Thank you @Chelsea for your simple hair cutting technique.
My husband doesn't like hairdressers/barbers/people and I decided to give him haircut following this tutorial. I needed two attempts but it looks really good! Not as good as profesional hairdresser would do but still, my husband is happy with his haircut. Thank you!
You did a great job of communicating and demonstrating the techniques clearly. My husband’s cut didn’t come out half bad for a first time attempt. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your help!! I'm going to start cutting my dad's hair. He's in a nursing home. And they aren't allowing barbers inside the facility. Hope I'll do a good job. Thank God he's 83 years old and still with us.
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial. We bought clippers to do my husbands hair and I wasn’t to confident to use them. Your calm presentation and instruction was so easy to follow and he now almost looks like he has been to a hairdresser........
I have been cutting my husband’s hair for years, but it was only the generic one used mostly for school boys, I recently decided to look for a guide, watched a ton of them, but yours is by far the best one I have watched and it really helps settle my own nerves for venturing into a new way.
I've just started training to become a hairdresser, my partner has decided he wants his long hair cut off and wants me to do it! No where near learning mens cuts yet so this has been super helpful! Thank you
What a professional tutorial. You deserve, my dear, a gracious tip for this upload. Because of the Pandemic, I will be cutting my husband's hair this week for the first time, so in the meantime, I'm going to study your trimming methods repeatedly so I can make it right. Thanks, Chelsea, for taking the time to put together this haircut video for beginners.
I was mesmerized and blown away by your video. Oh my days, it's when you came to start at the front and use the guide that I truly learnt the art of cutting mens hair. I'm truly thankful for your video. Yeah! 🤗👍

Of all the videos I’ve watched, this is the best one. Step, by step. Good visual; some videos the tutor is in the way so you cant really see up close. Now, if my husband will sit long enough for me to take my time and do a good job. He is very restless and impatient
I used your guide to cut my sons hair. My son liked my work and it was largely due to this video among others because the explanation was just so clear and methodical. This is a great fundamental men's haircut video. I'm watching this vid for my third haircut revision before getting on with it again.
I gave my boyfriend an impromptu haircut just by his guidance of what he believes to be what his barber does; which left us both frustrated with each other when the results weren’t the best (to say the least 😂). Your video makes it look so simple and I’ll definitely apply your technique next time. He said I’m supposed to start with the sides first but I’m gonna do just like you and start on the back first!

I always watch your video before so I don’t forget any steps. I appreciate your kind manner and gentle teaching. You are generous to share your expertise, thank you ! Much gratitude.
Bought a Wahl barber set at Costco; watched this video 3 times and cut my boyfriend's hair. He loved it. Great video-gave me the confidence to try it. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!! I have been searching for a long time to find a good one for cutting men’s hair!! My husband has been insisting that I cut his hair and I have never cut his hair before! You broke it down so that anyone could follow along! Thanks for showing how to blend it! I can now give him a good cut!!!
@@Kenny-kx2ge it went well my mum did spend ages tho like 2 hours😅 sorry for the delayed response Considering my mum has never cut hair before in her life too
I have been cutting my husband's hair since COVID happened....never thought I could, but this video saved the day! I rewatch it every rime he needs a cut. It may not be as good as his old barber's cut, but that's because I am not as skilled as she is in this tutorial...he still is very happy with the results (and it's free, haha)! Thank you; great video!
You have been a life saver!!! This video gave the perfect guideline of how to do a haircut for men. Did one for hubby yesterday and he is justifiably ecstatic!!! This was my redemption for a bad haircut I gave him a decade ago.....thank you sooooo much!!!!!
Very well explained! I’ve been watching videos like this to cut my family’s hair and this one will help me master the basics and cut my own hair. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been cutting my boyfriend’s hair lately and had difficulties getting the fade/gradual length to the back without cutting too much. It’s better to know the right movements to get a better result since I have to take his new passport photo as well. I’m just a photographer, not a barber. 😄
Great help to a dad who has a special child 🙏🏼. My learning curve flattened since I need to cut my son’s hair as he refuses to go to any barber . Thanks . Thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you for this awesome video!! The first time I cut my hubby’s hair (after watching a different tutorial) I totally botched it. This tutorial was SO helpful! Thank you for breaking down the steps for each area of the head and mentioning how far up the head to go! Awesome video!
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I just finished a haircut for my significant other. I started with #4 guard in the back and used #6 on the top with a comb, instead of a scissor cut. I blended the sides with #5. The area around the ear was tricky with his growth pattern, so I used the scissors for that. Perhaps I’ll get brave another time and try a scissor cut on top, but he was very happy with the results, and it doesn’t look like a rookie job.
You have the most thorough video I've seen so far in my search. I think I'll give it a try if my husband likes this style. I'll keep y'all posted 😜 I tried just doing it on a whim last time and I failed epically so hopefully this tutorial will solve all my problems. Lol. If not it's not your fault, it's mine!
I cut my husbands and 2 son's hair all the time years ago. I learned from watching my mom cut my brothers hair. The techniques were a little old school but I got better over time just trying to figure it out in my own. The neighbor boys liked my work and started coming to me for hair cuts. I wasn't experienced with the variety of textures, thickness etc. Gave a couple of bad cuts and stopped cutting hair for like 7 plus years. Recently my son has been requesting a hair cut. He usually went to his older friend and cousin for hair cuts but his cousin isn't available. My son is in high school and I don't want to embarrass him so I am here for pointers. Thank you for the video.
Thank you!!! I've never cut hair before, but my husband's hair hasn't been cut for over six months now and I was desperate. Your video helped me do way better than I thought I was capable of doing!
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm going to start cutting my husband's hair as his long time barber gal suddenly sold her shop. Though if you do make another video like this, please turn the volume either way down or only have it going at the beginning and the end. Thank you Chelsea! :)
I cut my husband hair the first time and need some guidance and you are the best, easy to understand and I had no trouble to following it. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I will be looking forward for your next tutorial.
WOW. Amazing video. I've been cutting my own hair for years and always seem to get calm satisfaction from it. I've developed some of these techniques. But when cutting someone elses hair, I get nervous because I don't have a plan. Seeing you detail this process step by step is very affirming for me. Thank you.
I'm cutting my boyfriend's hair tomorrow and I'm terrified! In my opinion you gave the best tutorial. All the other videos have women who are overconfident and make you almost feel bad for not knowing how to do it! You're awesome :)
Don't be terrified! You can do it! Just remember to take SMALL sections while cutting the hair on top and keep it damp :) Thanks for your kind words. So glad I can help! Good luck!

I’m going to cut my husband’s hair next week when the electric shaver comes through the mail. Due to COVID we’ve been quarantined for ten weeks already and his hair is getting long. Your tutorial is helping me feel a little bit less scared.
Ching Scoular Good luck! It takes time as a beginner, just remember to take small sections with your scissors especially if he has thick hair. You can do it !
Good luck! We have the same thing going over here but 3 boys & my husband. I just did my youngest son’s hair & it turned out decent. Next will be the middle & then oldest. My oldest (16 tomorrow) said he wants me to practice on them before I do his 🤣 Even though I cut his hair for years, he hasn’t let me in the last 7 & the clippers are brand new.
@Jenna Frazier thank you. I just cut my husband’s hair last Saturday. And it turned out good. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely not bad. I can used more practice for sure. It’s funny that you’re oldest son said he wants you to practice first with his younger brothers and your husband. 🤣

Every time I cut his hair I review your video and play it while doing the haircut (its not exactly a natural talent for me)!
Thank you!
So glad it helped !!
I never cut anyone hair my whole life. (36 yr) I watched this video and cut my husband hair and the result is great 👍. You are the best .
So glad it turned out !
Selena Crossen you’re welcome! Thank you for saying that! Let me know how it goes :)
Quarantine round 2 and this has so far been the best explanation and camera angles so far so we will see how it goes tomorrow 😀
How did it go
@@Kenny-kx2ge it went well my mum did spend ages tho like 2 hours😅 sorry for the delayed response
Considering my mum has never cut hair before in her life too
I have been cutting my husband's hair since COVID happened....never thought I could, but this video saved the day! I rewatch it every rime he needs a cut. It may not be as good as his old barber's cut, but that's because I am not as skilled as she is in this tutorial...he still is very happy with the results (and it's free, haha)! Thank you; great video!
I'm about to cut my boyfriend's hair this weekend, I'll be keeping this video close by lol. I hope I make it look good
You have been a life saver!!!
I started cutting my family hair and so far I am on my way to be professional! Thank you for assuring my work is good
Thanks for the tutorial!
Yay! So glad it turned out well!
Watching this to prepare for cutting my dad's hair tomorrow for Christmas, wish me luck!
How did it went?
@@jelly_zeri3011 it went great, I was very surprised tbh
@@Jette... Nice 👍
@@Jette... 🤣🤣
I tried this haircut for my Dad as salons are risky during the pandemic. It came out soo perfect!! Thank-you so much dear!! 💕
You have the most thorough video I've seen so far in my search. I think I'll give it a try if my husband likes this style. I'll keep y'all posted 😜
I tried just doing it on a whim last time and I failed epically so hopefully this tutorial will solve all my problems. Lol. If not it's not your fault, it's mine!
You can do it! Let me know how it goes :)
Very helpful! I was able to cut my boyfriend's very this and curly hair. He loves it. Thank you!
Thank you!!! I've never cut hair before, but my husband's hair hasn't been cut for over six months now and I was desperate. Your video helped me do way better than I thought I was capable of doing!
Boyfriend has asked to cut his hair and this is saving my life
Don’t mess up if you do 😹
Same here!
That's exactly why I'm here😂😂
Same!
Same same lol
After watching this thorough video, I think I have the courage to cut my husband’s hair. Thank you!
I'm here because my 3 year old is scared of going to the hair dressers. 😅 I'm going to try to cut it now. Wish me luck!
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm going to start cutting my husband's hair as his long time barber gal suddenly sold her shop. Though if you do make another video like this, please turn the volume either way down or only have it going at the beginning and the end. Thank you Chelsea! :)
Thank you sooo much! I’m getting ready to give my husband a Covid cut, and would not have attempted without this vid. 🤞🏽🤞🏽
I cut my husband hair the first time and need some guidance and you are the best, easy to understand and I had no trouble to following it. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I will be looking forward for your next tutorial.
I have been following this tutorial to cut my boyfriend’s hair and this will be my third time cutting his hair. 😍
WOW. Amazing video. I've been cutting my own hair for years and always seem to get calm satisfaction from it. I've developed some of these techniques. But when cutting someone elses hair, I get nervous because I don't have a plan. Seeing you detail this process step by step is very affirming for me. Thank you.
Thank you, Chelsea. This was brilliant. Just did my old dad's hair for him and the lovely ol' fuss pot was thrilled! Lol. Great tutorial!!!
I love the way you describe your experience. You made me chuckle. Pleased for you the haircut went well ... ⚘
Feel confident to help me dad, toddler son, and husband cut their hair now. Thank you so much Chelsea!
Good luck!
@@chelseawelechenko6526 thank you so much!
Great tutorial! Using this video and a good pair of scissors, I've cut my husband's hair seven times. Saved a lot of money and he loves it!
We bought a clipper for father's day, and this is just what I needed to cut my dad's hair, thank youuu❤
Followed this tutorial n gave a quarantine hair cut to my husband. He loved it! I was so happy with the results! Thank you so much for this amazing video!
My only advise would be not to wet the hair...clippers cut better when the hair is dry...wet for scissors but dry for clippers
True that’s what I was gonna say thank you
I mean what i be seeing’s is thats what how all women’s cut
I just cut my husband's hair an hour ago after watching this video. I used No.4 as I was concerned that my husband didn't like it. It turned out great! Thank you for this video. I spent an hour on it, next time I will try to cut it quicker!
@Chelsea Welechenko thank you. I will take your advice on taking small sections of hair. 😘
Thank you so much for this tutorial - I started cutting my husbands hair during COVID and have not stopped and I review your video each time and it is great! Thanks so much!!
If I ever get married and/or have a son, I'd love to be able to cut his/their hair. It seems like such a loving act. Thanks for this video!
Great job, I’ve cut hair for 20 years and stumbled upon your video, very informative, simple guide for beginners.
Thanks for sharing.
What a great tutorial for us beginners! You were so sweet to do this and explained everything so well!
Thank you for breaking it down to simple steps, gonna try cutting my son’s hair tonight!
Your video has been a pandemic lifesaver! Thank you so sincerely ❤ (PS Your calm instruction and upbeat music helped calm my nerves. I'd never done this before and my husband was so pleased, entirely thanks to your excellent tutorial. So grateful for you!)
After watching your video I cut my father's hair -and it looks great! Thank you so much for this clear, detailed video!!
A really good cut and tutorial - I am starting to cut my own hair but struggled to blend my sides properly. Ended up cutting way too high and still not great. Any advice on this would be most welcomed. thank you...
Put a bowl or band around the head for a stopping point & blend little by little from there. Small pieces until you get more comfortable
Hiiii I almost messed up my boyfriend's head and then I decided to go to UA-cam! I used to be in beauty school but didn't get the chance to be there long nor did I get to haircutting but with these instructions, I was able to fix my boyfriend's hair and I am so freaking proud and I am super grateful for your informative video. I made his a different style, but this tutorial still helped me perfect his hair thank you so much!!!!
Love this video. I'm going to cut my little boys hair as our hairdresser us still closed. Thank you for this. If you do women's hair please do a video my mum has short hair. Thank you. Xxx
Thanks for this video, I'd watched your tutorial several times and started cutting my husband's and my teen son's hair during the lockdown last year. They reluctantly let me try, but after first haircut both said I did better job then their Turksh barber. My husband bought me a set of clippers and proffessional scissors and do this DIY haircut for them regularly since then.
Excellent tutorial with easy to follow instructions. Thank you Chelsea!
Definitely the least fussy and forgiving (from what I watched) and organic way to cut a guys hair ! Great work!
I've noticed how most of the comments were made during the quarentine lol we where all in the same crazy hair situation
We are all in this together!!
This was uploaded during quarantine lmao
THANK YOU! I just want you to know that this is my go-to video for cutting my husbands hair after the Covid fiasco. Every time I cut his hair I review your video and play it while doing the haircut (its not exactly a natural talent for me)! The only challenge I have is dealing with a bald spot and very thin hair on the top. I just use scissors here and there for that!
I’ve just cut my boyfriends hair and messed it up big time and his hair is precious to him. So thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you for this video. Just bought a hair a Philips hair clippers to cut my husband's hair for the first time since the lockdown began. Your video is very thorough and excellent on technique, but of course I will watch again at least a couple of times before having a go on my husband!!
