The best tip I can give for catching big kings is to fish as much as you can in the spring time. Typically April is when I’ve seen the most big mackerel over 30 pounds caught. Another good time is early summer when they LYs start to show up in June is also a good time for big kings.
i need a rod that is good for casting far and catching mackeral, tarpon and etc what do you think i should go with? i was thinking about asking a local rod builder to build be a rod but didnt know if i should do that.
@@tomcruise11 ok.But the only problem is that im a kid,so idk what i would say to the builder, or i could just get my parents to talk to them bu i buy it.
I use three different websites either the rod room, mudhole, or eBay. Whichever I can find the best price. You can also check with local tackle shops if there are any around you.
I got you. So if you’re ordering from mudhole the guides and sizes I’d suggest are a fuji k series double foot kw model size 50 for your biggest guide then the rest of your guides can be single foot guides and I’d go with the Fuji k series single foot KL model with sizes 30, 25, 20, 16, and 12. Then for the last guide and smallest I’d go with Fuji KT running guide either size 10 or 8. As for the inserts of the guides that’s based on home much you want to spend. The alconites are the cheapest but they work well I’ve never had any issues with them. If you have any more questions let me know. Also if you message me on the Facebook page it’ll get the notifications sooner and it’s easier for me to respond. I hope this helps
Thankful no. it has stopped and everything is back to normal for us. We ended up with 12 inches total. It’s the most snow I’ve ever seen and the most I ever want to see haha
Sorry bud I don’t live in Florida anymore it wouldn’t be worth the money for shipping costs for the rod for me to build it you would end up spending more than double what the rod costs just to have it shipped to me then having it shipped back.
Also for tying 20lb leader I tie it the same way I tie my big leaders. If you haven’t seen my how to tie 7 strand leader video go check it out. If you’re having issues with it pulling out. Try tying it tighter. And wrapping the tag end up the main part of the leader very tight and add a few wraps. I’ll show how to do it in my next video.
how can u tell when a king is eating ur cigar minnow when u keep ur line off the roller

I’d recommend a rain shadow 1088 it’s a great all around rod

Hey man I was just gonna ask ya is live bait or fake lures better for king mackerel and what fake lures should I use
If the wing is blowing over 20mph I prefer to throw lures. If it’s blowing less than that I like live or dead bait
Where did you get all of your accessories for you rainshadow 1088 blank ? I’m going to purchase a blank and build a rod myself.

@@tomcruise11 did you purchase the rod building kit from mud hole ? I think I’m going to go with that kit
Which guide kit are you looking at? Also what are the sizes of the guides the kit comes with?
@@tomcruise11 that’s the thing I don’t know anything about guides and how to choose them

could you make me a rod?

Don’t the Spanish get leader shy
Yes. Spanish will get leader shy at times. I only recommend 60lb leader for king mackerel.
