Victor, I think that speaks volumes about your character that the older gentleman came and asked for your help, much respect and keep up the wonderful content coming!
I've had other BPM baits ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
I love Spanish mackerel, so I was immediately drawn to this excellent video. The pier activity made me envious, but your kitchen expertise made me hungry. Many thanks!
Spanish Mackerel is my favorite fish for making ceviche, just scrape the meat with a fork, add some lime juice, salt, pepper, mix with grated carrot, tiny cubes of red onion, thin cucumber slices, and serve up all of the mix on a crispy corn tortillas. Enjoy! Greetings from Nayarit, Mexico!
I'm from Ny.. My grandfather has been taking my lil brother and I fishing since I was 11 years old. Canarsie pier, sheepshead bay, and Rockaway cross bay Blvd. We're use to porgy, flounder, snapper, sea robben and blackfish. Now that I'm grown up with a family of my own, I'm looking forward to traveling to Florida for this excitement.
Is it pelican or pelican't. Them Gotcha's really get the job done. You are 100% spot on with the commentary on the life surrounding that area. Nothing like it, quite literally. I've said this before, your culinary skills and creativity definitely give your fishing prowess a run for the money. Until next time, tight lines & good vibes.
Smoked fish backs are pretty amazing brushed with a 50/50 mix of Italian dressing and BBQ sauce. Sounds crazy but it is amazing. Also many fish have cheek meat that is almost always forgotten about and it is very good to eat, and has a different taste and texture. Makes for a great appetizer
It's not a family recipe, but something I've adopted is the use of Indian spices and sauces with my king and dolphin. A real crowd-pleaser so far has been king mackerel korma, with almond slivers and raisins. I cheat and use the Patak's korma sauce from a jar, but you have the skills and the kitchen to make it from scratch if you prefer.
Hey Awesome Fisherman LandShark Fishing !! Your the best Fisherman and your a Legend chef you should do a cooking competition because if you did you would win the cooking competition Victor !! I love you Fishing T shirts they are the best !! And the same goes for you awesome UA-cam Channel !!! Cheers William !!
In Australia those mackerel you caught are called doggie mackerels and are caught at the start of Winter when all mackerels run up the coasts toward New Guinea. when you freeze the fillets you have to leave the skin on other wise the fillets turn into mush. Very good eating fish.
what pound line do you fish for macrael I went and used the gatcha lure yesterday on Deerfield pier and caught a macreal on 26 do you think that is enough
Great video Victor! I love spanish macks. I'll keep the skin on, throw it in a hot pan skin side down to sear for a few minutes and then finish it in the oven on broil to cook through. Then serve it skin up to keep it crispy! Instead of scoring the skin, try leaving it alone and placing a plate on your fillets in the pan to keep them from curling. Only needs to be on there for a minute. Then take if off before you throw the pan in the oven. Works great to keep the skin in contact with the pan. Thank you for the video!
Love the videos... ft pierce here, why did you clip the mackerel tails? Just curious... got myself a few today. Just got my spl, got 31 pounds of small jacks, need a better technique if ima make some money lol
A good recipe is: 1.Get a fish that has not too much bones (whole) 2.Clean the fish, take the scale/guts out 3.Dry the fish with some paper towel 4.Place your fish on a plate where it is big enough to fit the fish and make sure it can fit in a wok, big pan or big pan, make sure it can fit in. (Don't forget to score the fish to get the seasoning in) 5.Place about 2-3 cm of water and start to heat it up and wait for it to boil, while waiting season your fish. 6.Add a little salt, soy sauce, sugar, chilly, sliced ginger, sesame oil, garlic salt and spring onions for topping. 7.Once the water is at a boil, place the fish in the pan or wok, and cover with lid and steam for about 10-15. No longer or else meat will be chewy, not soft! 8.Once time is near, check and try moving the meat of the bone, if no meat is left on the bone, then it should be done. 9.Get a piece of meat and dip it in the sauce. Enjoy ;)
Wish I lived closer to saltwater! I fish about 40 days a year in freshwater for stripers, blue catfish, and some walleye/saugeye, but it's not enough!!
Anymore I fish every day it's not raining or below 40*F but I've caught more of our landlocked striper here while fishing for Cats than I have targeting them...lol Just waiting for some of those big Mucky or Pike to nail my like Gills next. In another comment above I mentioned I even caught a Mallard once, well it caught my lure while Bass fishing.
I need good pier recommendations. I am from Michigan and am coming down for spring break to fish rather than to party. Im looking at anywhere on the east coast. What area has the most piers? And would you recommend the north, central,or south, for catching the most variety. I am extremely interested in cudas.
It's a Sea Striker gotcha lures(plugs) and he did a video on pier lures he uses. Video link below from 4:37 he talks about the lures. Hope it helps. ua-cam.com/video/mXNiTSr5_qY/v-deo.html
LOL!!!! great video as always but bad title .. did i miss it or he never mentioned the lure hahahaha! anyways for those who wanted to know that lure is a "Gotcha Sea Striker" theyre great they come in many colors and are surprisingly cheap.. I got a mixed color 4 pack 3/8 oz from Dick's a few weeks ago for like $12 i think.. havent used it yet but after watching this Im def going to throw it off the jetty this weekend.. also thank you for the fillet tutorial.. im always impressed with your filet skills
while i agree.. i think it should be said that he's lucky to have a great woman on his side who loves fishing..hot or not.. Brook is the real deal and so is Vic.
bloody hate it wen sea birds make a hassle wen ur fishing whether it is trying to steal ur catch, getting in the way or stealing ur bait, its bloody painful
@Jabb Throne lol true haha doesnt help though when they try to steal the catch u worked hard for XD but don't get me wrong: wen im not fishing i enjoy watching the birds do their fishing haha
what time of leader do you recommend for the gotcha plug? i just ordered me some from Ebay and i dont want to loose them, if i use a wire leader do they still work properly? mono? Fluoro?
The Recipe you should try Legend Chef Victor is Fish and Chips also known as Battered Fish and French Fries with some lemons !! That is the best meal in Australia right now and that is were I live !!
Question on the avocado oil, has it got a neutral flavor? Sorry on the recipes, my family is English and Irish from New England. I find most of what *you* do kind of exotic. I mean garlic? Pretty fast-lane for me, Vik. Nah, more seriously, while I worked in restaurants for a number of years and do know my way around spices and herbs (and garlic), but my presentations are pretty standard western European. But you know, it's still hard to beat a properly done haddock & chips, although since I moved to Florida, I've found that a grilled grouper sandwich gives it a run for its money.
Hey guys, I will be in Florida next week to visit my inlaws. I am from South Africa, and just want to know if there is a size limit on those mackerel and blues. Also what can you catch snoek in December? On more thing, what is the bag limit?
Have you ever cooked a LADY FISH? I caught a bunch at clearwater on the west coast, and we took them home and cooked them up. They were actually really good!!
when I get to fl I will start making some tradition fish cooking LOL , the real sweet n sour fish, steam fish w ginger and scallions and if I can catch some lobsters I can even make ginger n scallion lobsters all Cantonese style (Hong Kong)
Hey Landshark Outdoors! I love your videos, here's a VERY famous Asian-style way of cooking fish. My family and I use this way of cooking for fishes such as our cod and bream (I live in Australia). It gives the fish a tender yet soft and somehow flaky texture. Search "ginger soy-sauce steamed fish" on Google images, enjoy!
Victor, I think that speaks volumes about your character that the older gentleman came and asked for your help, much respect and keep up the wonderful content coming!
walrus thank you!
I thought you were going to eat the pelican as a lesson...
Alejandro Hernandez lmao exactly
Agreed! Pelican burgers!
@@zw5509 Lol I am not too sure how that would taste
@@AlejandroHernandez-fw6ur like everything else, it depends how hungry you are! (:
Catch and cook indeed 🤨
You're not a real fisherman until you've fought a bird.... or hooked yourself
Caught a Mallard in mid flight once,or should I say it caught my lure..I'll take that over hooking myself any day...LOL
agreed 😂😂😂
I hooked a seagull while trolling, ngl kind of fun feeling it in from the sky
Or had a favorite seagull you fed and knew who you were
I did not long ago. Tried pulling it out

Do you live close to Sebastian? I go there all the time and I never knew you fished there. It would be awesome if I ran into you because I'm a big fan
