A lot of these houses got flooded when Harvey hit. I did a lot of contract work when these houses were being built. Just putting it out there.

@@YC-dx5vl Maybe not that neighborhood, but several neighborhoods near Towne Lake flooded. There are lots of lakes in those areas, and the houses are 20+ years old.
I remember back during the 60's. That area was a German farming community with dairy cows and dirt roads. A lot has changed over the past 60 years. My family settled there in 1960. Just 120 years after General Sam Houston camped in the area. While on route to capture Mexican General Santa Anna at the battle of San Jacinto.
My dad just moved from Tennessee to Cypress Texas. Over there on morning cypress. He absolutely loves it! He is also retired military so he has finally found a loving home.

This was an awesome video. I've been wanting to make that 3 hr drive to the Houston location to see these different areas of Houston but right now with Covid I'm not comfortable doing so but you took me there right from the comfort & safety of my own home. My current jobs both have locations in Cypress so it would be an easy transfer but I wanted to see what Cypress had going. I'm sure there's more to Cypress but this video was exactly what I needed. My hometown is College Station which I never visit but I'd like to be closer to my family so when you mentioned that I was like awwwww. My family would be just a skip, hop, & jump away. Thank you for this video. I know who I'm coming to find next year.

I live about five minutes from Towne Lake, and about 15 minutes from Bridgeland.
Im so torn between CYPRESS and KATY I plan on moving before August. Im so torn. I just want the best community and best schools and a walkable community so the kids can ride their bikes etc

Cypress is really nice, but nothing to do unless you love food. Every road got like 15-20 restaurants, and I'm not kidding. Just go down West Little York, Fry Rd, Baker Cypress, and or Hwy 6 nothing but restaurants. Even though every new restaurant does come to this area, or Cinco Ranch which is about 15 minutes to in hour from Cypress.
A little of that is Katy where I live, but I live a mile outside of Cypress, Tx so it applies.
If I didn’t have to come into the city often, I’d live out there. I love it.

Just moved to Katy 6 months ago. North of 10. Loving it so far.

It’s a bit late but after living in. Cypress for 11 years I can say katy would be ideal to live in. It’s a fair amount of time between houston and cypress 😎

A lot of the homes did not get flooded. I've live in Fairfield since 1998 and never flooded once.
Far too often folks are being fed misinformation these days, even here on UA-cam unfortunately. The vast majority of Houston DOES NOT experience flooding. I wish folks would believe me when I say that. They'll just have to come down to h-town and see it for themselves I suppose! 🤔

In 40 years of living here in Houston, I've NEVER had a snake anywhere in nor near my house(s). I guess I'm lucky, because I do NOT play around with snakes.
Wondering if you had to choose between cypress and Katy which would you pick?
Both... 2 different vibes, but both are nice. You'll just have to take a trip here to understand and see which area you vibe with the most... I'm thinking you're more of a Katy girl though

Hello Irma! Houston's is the 4th largest metropolitan in the country, so we absolutely have a downtown and midtown for that matter as well. Cypress is a suburb of Houston, so you won't find a downtown specifically, but it's only a 30 - 45 minute drive from Cypress to Downtown, Houston, TX.

This video is bit older now, so I wonder if the opinions are still the same about distance between Cypress and the city? I’m moving to the Houston area and can’t figure out if I should go with Katy or cypress. I want to be able to go to the city within 30 minutes from either place. Cypress on the map seemed like a great choice and it’s in between more developed cities. Still a go?

You won't find anything in townlake or bridgeland in that price ranch but other areas in Cypress you can.
Hey Yall. Im a 22 year old music producer from detroit and im looking for a new place to be. I considered houston because the vibe is amazing. I lived in atlanta & it was cool but just over saturated. I want to move to Houston but I have a huge fear... Hurricanes. Starting off I planned on moving to Houston and staying at a band rehearsal room so I have a secure place to be as loud as I want and then grind my way so I can afford to keep my studio & get an apartment. But the fear off hurricanes keeps attacking me. I'll be moving here alone with no family and I just keep thinking about me bringing 10k worth of music equipment I worked so hard for to get damaged. Thats all I have.. I know theres apartments thats designed to not be flooded but I wouldnt be able to make music or mix songs loud there.. any thoughts and opinions ??
