I only measure in baking. I do everything else willy nilly. I am the queen of throwing stuff together and seeing what I end up with, or taking parts of several different recipes, and making my own.
hi I think I would play it safe and measure it out first. great video today. especially the spaghetti casserole. spaghetti has always been a favorite in my family. for years to now.
I eyeball everything! Maybe I'll make the "timeless " spaghetti to take Wednesday night to Bible study! Always looking for something new to share so thx!!
Please excuse me as I drool. These both look and sound so delicious. Can't wait to try them. I laughed when you whispered. My mom makes something similar to the Million Dollar Spaghetti, but with chicken and alfredo sauce.
I agree with you! This yummy recipe has been around for years! 😋 I'm glad you shared because it's been a long time since made it. I'll need to make it again soon. I even have the ingredients!! ❤
i really liked that bible verse. thank you. and thank you Lord! your husband is really sweet! i am glad he stopped in to give his professional opinion on your delicious cooking!
Yum. When I make it I will make one to share with my son and daughter-in-law both working parents and two kids under 5. Who has time to cook in their house? Throwing something in the oven and out comes a meal that even little kids will eat is like a dream in a 9x13 pan.
I’ve been making spaghetti pie as well but sometimes we make a taco version. I measure like you, guesstimate. So yummy though. I can’t wait to try the first recipe
A couple of months ago we had a game night. I misjudged having enough meatballs and spaghetti noodles and needed to come up with a dish which would feed us all. I sliced the meatballs in thirds, had a ricotta mix (for shells) leftover in the freezer and used the spaghetti noodles and some other noodles and made a pasta bake. Everyone was satisfied and we still had enough to send home with our guests with leftovers the next day 🥰
I eyeball 👁️ it. Pretty much baking is the only thing that is measured. I can honestly say there’s a lot of meals I’ve never had before until I tried it because of watching you. My mom’s Japanese so a lot of our food was Asian based.
I’ve been making spaghetti Pie for over 40 years. I cook ground beef with garlic and onions, salt n pepper. Then I add a big jar of spaghetti sauce. In a bowl I mix cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese and parsley. I cook my noodles and drain, then add butter, 1 egg beaten and Parmesan cheese. Place all your noodle mixture on the bottom of a sprayed baking dish, top with cottage cheese mixture, spaghetti meat sauce. Cover and bake 35 minutes then remove cover and add one ball of grated mozzarella cheese and bake another 15 minutes or until all cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove and let set at least 15 minutes. It’s better the next day.
I think measuring it would be a waste of time since it all melts together in the dish while it bakes and when it's served it's a bit messy anyway. We called it spaghetti pie 53 yrs ago when I got married. Thanks for the great video.
Enjoyed your scripture and thought you might appreciate Hebrews 13:6 also. It is my very favorite scripture and one I remember almost as easily as the first one my Mother taught me at Proverbs 22:6. She was a very smart mama! Hope you enjoy these two verses!
Must admit, I have been cooking for 50 plus years and I have never measured for a lasagna type casseroles or even for cake batter split in half. I have thought about it but never did it. However, for baking and most spice ingredients I do measure.
When making a spaghetti bake or lasagna, I definitely eyeball. I don't want to dirty anything extra, etc. Ain't nobody got time for that😂 Both those casseroles looked yummy❤
Multiple videos on YT for this. Super easy, although I do like to keep a couple cans on hand for when I'm lazy or in a time crunch. ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=how+to+make+cream+of+soups
They are the same members mark pans from Sam's club. I just got a new set of them. They were not gifted to me. It was a great opportunity to gift my "old" ones to someone else.
My measurements are "about" this much! Do measure when baking or making a new recipe for the first time. I use my cheese shredded like you have all the time. Block cheese is better, fresher and melts better. We try to keep everything fresh and stay away from the food additives. 😊
Measure casserole ingredients?? When I was starting out as an adult I went to Grams to write down some of her recipes. After getting totally frustrated I asked her, "How do I write, enough of this to add the right color, until the consistency is right, well, you know the seasonings you like, etc..." Fast forward a couple of months and my husband & I were at another couple's and I was showing her how to make something and she said, "Do you ever measure ANYTHING??" I beat feet to Grams' house & ran in saying "I did it, I did it, I did it, I'm a great cook, I turned into you!" She said, "You've always been a great cook...but would you like to explain the rest?" Boy did she ever laugh! So I can easily say no, I'm not one to measure anything unless I'm baking. Even then I measure teaspoons in my palm, and after all the years I have been baking many things in baked goods I eyeball. And yes, things like the casserole you made have been around far longer than my 60+ years. A few months ago a girl on another channel got so excited when she found a homemade hamburger helper 'recipe'. Back when I was first married and when my daughter was little money was so tight making things like that from scratch was the only way we ever ate, and often had to be made without meat. Casseroles have always been a great way to stretch meals & dollars!
?where are you getting your no salt products.also I have started using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream love it not much of a flavor change yogurt is just a little more sour taste not much at all.thanks for the tips.
And as always love the Bible verse, something everyone needs to hear with all the Internet trying to put fear into everyone about elections and what's supposedly to happen.be prepared always for life changes but don't fear because he is always with us .and what kind of life would it be if you woke up to fear every day.God Bless ❤
I’m 63 and my daughters want my recipes but I eyeball everything. I’ve been cooking since I was 9, real cooking. My mom left when I was 9 and my dad and I had to start cooking then.
So I am a very literal person. The recipe in the description doesn’t match the video. You cubed the potatoes, no mandolin. Recipe calls for milk, you didn’t add that in video. You also said to add one can of “cream of”, recipe calls for two. The two versions are just dissimilar enough to make a difference. Which should I follow?
your husband is like me- viral like on tik tok or viral like Imma get sick? Measuring only happens in baking in my kitchen. My 12 and 16 year old girls know the difference between the two and they act accordingly..sometimes they have a wee bit much uhm"heart" when adding garlic and ranch..

It's so good! Such a great way to change up that traditional spaghetti
Million dollar spaghetti is truly that good! We love it! I love that you end with a Bible verse. Inspiring! ❤️🙏
Thank you!
Yep. Never measure. 😊
Same here!
We love baked spaghetti. The recipe is flexible so it's hard to ruin it.
So true!
I cook by eyeballing, always have always will!😂
Yep! Me too
@@FeedingtheByrds I love the fact that your husband likes cream cheese in his casseroles yet Steven is just now trying to accept it!🤣🤣🥴🥴

Did you make this for your Bible study?

Going to have to try these recipes this fall

It's the best!
Toss it in and hope for the best🙂
Yes!!!

Such a great idea!! I bet they would appreciate that
I love the cheese shredder. I use it for cheese but also veggies.
Absolutely!! We use it for so many different things.
Good night Amber and thank you for sharing your yummy meals
You are so welcome!
Will make the spagetti 😊😊
So good! You'll love it
@@FeedingtheByrds can you make a video for great recipes for a single person??? Thanks

I made a taco version in today's video!
These looked delicious! And I need to start making my own cream base.
It's so easy!!

Cooking: all winging it
Baking: exact measurements 😊
Love that!
No measuring here♥️ These all look delicious ❣️
Thank you 😋
Use a pastry bag with a small tip to get the ricotta mix even.
Great tip!
I learned to make this recipe and layer it in a pie pan so we always called it spaghetti pie! You are right that was as a newlywed 50 years ago.
It's funny how things circulate in the internet.
Both recipes look great... Thank you 😊
Glad you like them!
I've never had baked spaghetti before. Maybe one day
Try it!! So easy

I use a specific spoon to measure ish lol ❤ it’s not perfect for me because I use what looks right same as you hun

Yes, this is what I remember my grandma calling it as well!
Everything looks delicious. Well done on the pronunciation of “wuh-ster-sheer sauce. In the U.K. we usually just say “wuh-ster” sauce. 😊
😄😀You gotta be careful with that one!
Awesome video, thanks

Ate this as a kid in the 60's. Spaghetti Sunday night, spaghetti casserole Tuesday night. Planned-overs not left-overs.
This made me giggle because I remember that as a kid.

Put a little oil in your water you cook your noodles in to keep it from sticking together.

How long should I cook the potatoes if I peel them
Just until fork tender
Just until fork tender
Fork tender is good. You don't want to overcook them since you'll mix into the casserole
♥️

Where can I find your recipe for cream soup base
Here you go!

You didn’t add any seasoning to the beef and potato casserole?
No, the flavor from the cheese and the homemade "cream of" works perfectly. Obviously cook the potatoes in salted water though.
