I make it from scratch. I didn't tell the family it was Keto-friendly until they devoured it. Now we have to make triple batch for holidays (and still there is not leftovers).
He also gets it wrong of coming in later when people wanted to be healthy and make their own sauce. At least one goes back to earlier, I believe the 50s or 60s, in the Betty Crocker Cookbook calling for condensed cream of mushroom soup - not exactly light.
Worldwide? hate to break it to you but no, on this side of the pond most of these casseroles are not only not popular but they´re also unknown + we certainly don´t mix cheese with everything, just not healthy.
"In time for her nightly soaps???" More like a quick and easy dinner for a woman who has worked all day and then faced an evening of cooking, cleaning, homework, getting the kids bathed and in bed, and more. As a single Mom of four small childre in the 1970s I knew that drill well. Sometimes days went by before I even got a chance to watch any television at all.
When I was growing up (‘50s and ‘60s), there were no “nightly soaps”, and our mom was too busy to sit and watch TV after dinner anyway, while we kids did our homework and our dad was working.
Hamburger helper "casserole" had a variety of dishes. It is still sold today. This guy tried to combine it with the very distinct tater tot casserole. The writers are crazy. We still eat all of these. We call a lot of them comfort food. 😅
It was very interesting to hear him describing, step by step, how to make macaroni and cheese, while watching someone make something completely different.
I make a great stuffed peppers, and green bean, and tuna casserole. I also make an amazingly simple chicken ala king. Now I want to cook a casserole. 😂There's so many good one dish meals out there, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Happy cooking everyone!
Although I grew up in Florida, my parents were from middle Tennessee, so we ate a lot of vegetable casseroles. I never had Mexican food until the early 80’s or late ‘79. It just wasn’t popular enough where I grew up. Now, Mexican food is absolutely one of my favorites. ❤
I grew up in FL as well. Both of my parents were from the Deep South where everything was fried! My mom never made casseroles but I've sure learned to love them over the years! Easy peasy! 😊
Why do I watch these videos?? They always include stuff we all eat regularly. OK maybe I'm picking up a store made pot pie vs making my own sometimes, but that is indicative of life today. We are rushing and tired and grabbing food. Although I try to cook more than grab. And other than the corn casserole (which was never super popular up North, but I still enjoy a variation of it a few times a year), I make most of these. I really think the point is so we all comment that we still make them LOL. Been there for the forgotten desserts I still make, the forgotten sandwiches, etc.
I thank you for all these recipes. It’s crazy how some of them have gone out, but that beef noodle casserole and the broccoli casserole is a must try for my house.
I'm so thankful that my mother never got on board with the tuna noodle casserole fad. Hamburger Helper casseroles are now done in a skillet but there are plenty of varieties on the grocery store shelves today.
I've eaten a few of these casseroles over the years especially Tater Tot Casserole which we eat a lot here in Oklahoma for lunch and supper it is really good to eat thanks for the delicious memories.😋🥘🥘😋
I grew up in the 70s and my father made his own recipe for Baked Macaroni and Cheese. It was a real treat when he made it. I still make it today. Thanks Dad.
I literally just made tuna noodle casserole, tuna noodle casserole and a lot of the ones are probably going to say is coming back because they're affordable they're easy to make and they can stretch
I made tuna noodle casserole for the kids I use to nanny. They never heard of it before. They LOVED IT!! And would ask for it often. When I left the position 5yrs later, I was asked the recipe.
My husband and I were talking about the tuna noodle casserole just last night.. and I wondered if they had white tuna on store shelves back in the 50’s.. or in our case, the 60’s. I keep trying to get my husband to take even just a little courtesy bite of a white tuna sandwich or a salad but he refuses! His mom over did it with the tuna casserole as a child and his dad had a thing for hominy and my hubby won’t go near either one of those food now. I am forever telling him that we have better options now in the canned tuna department but he doesn’t care, he has no desire to try it. His mom ruined his tuna experience. 😂 And I agree with the majority here, who says we don’t make these casserole’s anymore!!
I've been making tuna casserole (with rice), scalloped potatoes, zucchini casserole, stuffed peppers (with mideastern seasoning) and macaroni and cheese for 58 years. I also invented an egg Florentine casserole---with noodles, spinach, hard boiled eggs and a cheese and cream sauce. I also have a casserole recipe from a 1960's called "Potato Pan Burger". It's seasoned ground beef seasoned like beef Stroganoff with mashed potatoes on top. I'll NEVER stop making casseroles---especially in the winter. I don't like broccoli, so I don't use it in casseroles.
So sorry to disappoint, but I grew up eating these n so did my children as they were delicious n cost effective for filling ur tummy n producing smiles. We made our own hamburger helper type casseroles, not from a box, also ckn n tuna casseroles.
When my kids were still at home casseroles were the way to go. Ziti, lasagna, chicken pot pie, enchiladas, chicken divan. This was only 6-7 years ago. I never used any of the “helpers” it was just as easy to make your own rice or noodles
I make most of these still today. The chicken pot pie, at least once a week. the corn casserole every Thanksgiving, green bean casserole, every Thanksgiving. boy have y’all got it wrong?
I have already planned on making Enchilada Casserole tonight, my family still loves it, but I only make it a couple times a years. I don't want them to get tired of it.
🤭 my sister used to call shepherds pie S***'s pie when we were kids😂 she still ate it tho...so I cant help thinking of it by that childish name, I still chuckle😊 and I still love it❤
I had Shepherd's Pie two days ago at Cracker Barrel. I live in Texas and I'd never heard of Mexican Egg Casserole. I'll have to try it this weekend. I thought at first that was Enchilada Casserole until I saw it was coming later in the video. I made Enchilada Casserole in 8th grade Home Ec class. Baked spaghetti and chicken spaghetti were staples at our church potlucks. Cheddar's used to serve baked spaghetti. My wife makes both stuffed poblano peppers and poblano pepper casserole. I could eat beef and noodle casserole and Hamber Helper every day and twice on Sunday. I loved the Cheeseburger one while my dad favored Chili Macaroni. Sometimes I'll ask my wife to make the Chili Macaroni one in remembrance of him. (So clearly it's still around).
8 ounce custard cups are perfect for individual casseroles. That way they can be personalized. Just cut steam vent in initial of eater The problem with casseroles is they are very high fat
Tuna casserole is still around, most people just don't know how to cook anymore. And you need tuna in oil for the flavor. I'll stick with my poor man's shepherd's pie, made in a deep dish pie shell with corned beef hash mixed with a can of mixed vegetables and dark gravy topped with mashed potatoes. I made scalloped potato casserole with chunks of spam last week. All the enchilada casseroles I've ever had used a thin layer of cornbread on the bottom and top with the filling between and topped with cheese. The best Mac and cheese I've ever had was on a Roach Coach that visited the jobsite. It had a lightly diced mix of jalapeno peppers mixed in. Why do people keep calling tex-mex food authentic Mexican? Prime example - the Taco Bell garbage. NOT MEXICAN, everything wrong. I prefer my stuffed peppers simmered in a pot of spaghetti sauce with 1lb rice meatballs in the peppers. My wife's home economics education consisted of nothing more than casseroles made of leftovers, canned cream soups and topped with corn flakes cereal with cheese on top. We haven't allowed her to cook for the last 30 years.
My family and relatives still eat tuna noodle casserole to this day more often now then in previous decades because of inflation and how expensive everything is becoming. My family's never eaten shepherd's pie but we do eat cottage pie at least two times a month if it's made with ground beef it's a cottage pie if it's made with lamb it's a shepherd's pie we don't eat lamb in our house. 😅
Shepherds pie gone out of style? In Québec we call it pâté chinois. I make it all the time. Layer of ground beef, layer of corn then a layer of mashed potatoes. Delicious.
Out of 20 "Casseroles that we don't eat anymore" I still eat and enjoy 7 of them. Some are on semi-regular rotation. LOVE chicken pot pie, cottage pie, green bean casserole, scalloped potatoes and a variation of tuna casserole. Going to try King Ranch Chicken as I have never had it before.
You didn't eat tuna noodle casserole at restaurants. You ate it at home. It was a Friday night staple in pre-Vatican II times, when Fridays were days of abstinence. I'd rather have Jiffy corn casserole. Green Bean casserole is made from French cut green beans, Campbell's chicken of mushroom soup, & French's fried onions. Just hamburger, not hamburgers. Oh,my! Forgot about some of these casseroles. Made some so often in my early years of marriage. Ones l made alot was the broccoli rice dish ( nice for company ) and the chicken and rice. I still make tuna noodle casserole....one of my favorites and corn casserole. Thanks so much for sharing!😊
This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And no, most “folks” are into hunted game instead of comfort foods. He’s mentioned animal heads and testicles in other posts. He’s kinda out there and gets things wrong a lot.
If you, dear video makers, don't eat tuna noodle casserole, that's your issue, not a "we" issue. My local supermarket sells chicken pot pies that look exactly like those shown here -- and has a whole freezer section of pot pies. Corn pudding is Southern; if it were Southwestern, corn would grow in the Southwest and the pudding would contain green chiles. And with that, my viewing ends, because I'm not finding a whole lotta truth in this vid.
Sure like to know where you got the idea we don't eat these casseroles anymore. I make them all the time.
I agree. first one is a regular on my list.
Green bean casserole has never gone out of style. It is most popular during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We eat this at Easter too
My niece always makes the green bean casserole 😅❤.
It will never become outdated
I make it from scratch. I didn't tell the family it was Keto-friendly until they devoured it. Now we have to make triple batch for holidays (and still there is not leftovers).
He also gets it wrong of coming in later when people wanted to be healthy and make their own sauce. At least one goes back to earlier, I believe the 50s or 60s, in the Betty Crocker Cookbook calling for condensed cream of mushroom soup - not exactly light.
I make casseroles all the time. They are delicious and cost effective. Some things will never die.
I still make most of these. NO prepackaged foods for me! Everything is from scratch in my house, cooking baking all of it.
My mom's ham and scalloped potatoes were the bomb! I still make it and I make pot pies, gr. bean casserole, etc.
YUM!
I used boxed scalloped bc inflation. Lol...my mom added winter blend veg too loved that addition.
You're crazy saying "we don't eat anymore".........Who are WE? A lot of people worldwide STILL eat Many of these.....................WOW!
Worldwide? hate to break it to you but no, on this side of the pond most of these casseroles are not only not popular but they´re also unknown + we certainly don´t mix cheese with everything, just not healthy.

I don’t know what side of the world you’re from but some of us still eat casseroles. Maybe not every night but they have a place!
Who wrote this nonsense?

I still make tuna noodle casserole 😊
I make it at least once a month.
Sometimes I make the casserole on the stove top and use potatoes instead of noodles.
Me too
I made it this week.
I’m 80, and so far, they’ve named all of my go-to’s for Sunday dinner!
I LOVE casseroles!!! All kinds of casseroles!❤️❤️❤️
It was very interesting to hear him describing, step by step, how to make macaroni and cheese, while watching someone make something completely different.
I agree. Poor video. He said put fried shallots on the green bean casserole. Smh
Not sure where you live but I am sure all of these casseroles are eaten still to this day!!
I still enjoy Tuna, noodle Casserole!
Me too, I make an awesome one.
I hate to tell you this but I STILL make some of these casseroles
Same with my family. Love them.

Casseroles never go out of style maybe you are asking the wrong group of people grow up on them and still make them and love them
I'm so thankful that my mother never got on board with the tuna noodle casserole fad.
Hamburger Helper casseroles are now done in a skillet but there are plenty of varieties on the grocery store shelves today.
Ok
Several restaurants in my town still make Shepard pie
Still eating tuna noodle casserole
I've eaten a few of these casseroles over the years especially Tater Tot Casserole
which we eat a lot here in Oklahoma for lunch and supper it is really good to eat
thanks for the delicious memories.😋🥘🥘😋
I still make many of the\se on the regular - but I i live in Minnesota - where the “hot dish” is our soul food. ☮️💟
I remember a tv character calling out, "Hot dish comin' through, and she's got a casserole."
I use to make the Tuna Noodle Casserole often it is really quite good.
I add sunflower seeds to mine!
I grew up in the 70s and my father made his own recipe for Baked Macaroni and Cheese. It was a real treat when he made it. I still make it today. Thanks Dad.

Green bean casserole was invented in the late 80', early 90's??? Explain my mum making it in the late 60', early 70's.
I first had it in 1960.
We had it every thanksgiving in the 1950’s!
Yup. Created in 1955 by the Campbell Soup Co. The topping isn't fried shallots. It's French's Fried Onions in a can.
🤭 my sister used to call shepherds pie S***'s pie when we were kids😂 she still ate it tho...so I cant help thinking of it by that childish name, I still chuckle😊 and I still love it❤
I eat these quite often, except for the Mexican ones. Home made foods are what we eat, not the pre- made frozen stuff.
We don't eat any more? Six of these recipes appear on my table regularly.
Dorito Taco Bake Casserole is a family favorite of ours now days.

I do make corn pudding on Thanksgiving every year 😋
Chicken Vienna I never heard of this dish nor did I ever eat it how can I be everybody's favorite when I haven't heard about it
Tuna casserole is still around, most people just don't know how to cook anymore. And you need tuna in oil for the flavor.

The shepherds pie with corn beef hash sounds so good!
Tuna noodle casserole👌
You bring corn pudding to a potluck or family gathering. You won't have any left.

Shepherds pie gone out of style? In Québec we call it pâté chinois. I make it all the time. Layer of ground beef, layer of corn then a layer of mashed potatoes. Delicious.
Does it have a gravy or anything else?
Mac and cheese is made all the time!
King Ranch Chicken is great. I've only had it a few times, but someone always brings it and baked spaghetti or chicken spaghetti to a potluck.
It's not a casserole, it's just baked macaroni and cheese
We never had it. Not tuna fans.
I absolutely love tuna casserole Scrummy!
For those that don't like tuna, you can still do the tuna noodle casserole, just with a different meat/protein.
And I don't think I've ever considered pot pies to be a casserole.
And I **still** love scalloped and/or au gratin potatoes "casserole" ... same with stuffed peppers (not sure if I'd consider them a casserole, though ... I mean you can use a casserole dish to cook them however they aren't the looks/style of a traditional casserole).
And WHERE IN THE WORLD do you think Mac & Cheese - casserole or otherwise - is no longer eaten ????????
People make green bean casserole every Thanksgiving.
Shepherds pie is still popular!!!
I still eat and love homemade chicken pot pie and baked mac and cheese and casoseroles
I still make all of these sooooo🤷🏽♀️
Where's THE BEST casserole ever? Lasagna! I could eat that all day... yum.
I' still make most them
What about chili mac casserole
Oh,my,tuna noodle was my first thought before this started
I still make a lot of these casseroles and freeze them left overs so we don’t get sick of same thing. Wasn’t there a casserole with sausage in it? I remember it being creamy?? Any ideas?
This seems to be the same video of 4-5 years ago... the narration voice is done by AI then the channel owner changes the order of the dishes to make it appear to be a new video. Of course after watching everyone replies...we still eat this that and the other.
"All you need is some thinly sliced zucchinis and casseroles..."
We called it in Iowa “scalloped corn “……
My mom made tuna noodle casserole when we were kids. I hated it. I swore I would never make it and to this day I never have. I make the rest.
I had to tune out after the Shepard's pie! People still eat tuna casserole, pot pie, Shepard 's pie etc!!!! What's going on here?😮
I don’t like tuna casserole any more, but I make and enjoy most of the other dishes.
Shepards Pie is still widely considered a great dish.
I still make tuna casserole!
5:37 Shepherds' pie by definition uses lamb or mutton.
I prefer cottage pie, basically similar, but made with ground beef.
Puh-LEASE!! I had tuna noodle casserole last week. But we make it from scratch.
Imagine thinking macaroni and cheese was out of favor 😮
Tuna noodle casserole is still high in protein Still made today.
Chicken pot pie, shepherds pie, scalloped potatoes in my house still
