    The Nahuan or Aztecan languages are those languages of the Uto-Aztecan language family that have undergone a sound change, known as Whorf's law, that changed an original *t to /tɬ/ before *a. Subsequently, some Nahuan languages have changed this /tɬ/ to /l/ or back to /t/, but it can still be seen that the language went through a /tɬ/ stage. The best known Nahuan language is Nahuatl. Nahuatl is spoken by about 1.7 million Nahua peoples.
    If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.

    Looking forward to hearing from you!

      seems the typical mexican accent and intonation when talking is indigenous to that area. its just that spanish was added on top of it due to colonization . its like how indian english has a distinct pronunciation and accent fully indigenous to that area too..

    I’m nicaraguan of nahua descent. My great grandma was from a nawat nicarao community in rivas called “nahuatan” which means “nahuat land” or something like that. Her grandparents spoke nawat but the language died with them in the late 1800s, around the same time that nawat went extinct in nicaragua. Proud of my nawat heritage 💪🇳🇮

    My heart beamed with joy a few weeks ago when I heard these two Náhuatl speakers at my local store.
    They were from southern Mexico ( I forget what state).
    I felt a sense of bittersweet awe and envy knowing that could've been the fate of Nawat in El Salvador had it not been repressed to near extinction.

    it’s a little sad that we can’t even properly depict what the cultural clothing of the indigenous peoples of Elsalvador looked like because it’s so much less preserved than the rest of the indigenous peoples in different countries…it would’ve been cool to know what they looked like before colonialism..

      Yeah unfortunately the only artistic evidence we have is from the Lienzo de Tlaxcala that depicts them in battle. We also know the warriors wore cotton armor and red ribbons around their hair. But the common people mostly wore henequen clothing since cotton was reserved for the nobility.

    It reminds me of Brazilian Nheengatu, which is a modern version of Old Tupi, it has easier and softer sounds, just like Nawat campared to Nahuatl. "Ta rikwé indijina/tapuya nheengaitá", may the indigenous languages live!

    • @julianxiu2032
      @julianxiu2032 Рік тому +6

      @@AnthonyHernandez-ng8py Yes actually I also tend to consider it a separate language. It was documented in the early colonial time that there was a " broken" Nahuatl spoken in El Salvador, because these people pronounce tl as t, like children. And they also mentioned at that time classical Nahuatl can be used almost with any nahua community but not completely intelligible with this one. So it can be estimated that it separated very early.

      @@julianxiu2032 Náhuat has a common ancestor with Pochutec and Náhuatl, Náhuat diverged from the proto-Nahua hypothetical language that is the ancestor of Pochutec and Náhuatl and Nahuat, Previously it was thought that Náhuat and Pochutec were the same as Nahuatl but they have marked differences , example: in Nahuat ash is called neshti and Pochutec nosht and in Nahuatl neshtli, Rio in Pochutec is aten and Nahuat apan (The word apan can also mean abundance or abundant) and in Nahuatl atentli, fish in Nahuat and Nahuatl is michin and in Pochutec is michóm, in Nahuat gusano is kwilin and in Nahuatl okwilin and Pochutec ug-lóm, it is very probable that proto Nahua existed. possess Nahuatl and Pochutec, it is Nh or in the international phonetic alphabet ŋ is called velar nasal and F
      also called voiceless labiodental fricativa and the R, another difference, Nahuatl does not have B while in Nahuat and Pochutec this sound does exist

    Same language. Different dialects. Second variety sounds very much like Salvadoran. Cuzcatlan. My ancestors along with the other tribes in the area called them Pipil. This is because their language sounded like the speech of children to their ears. It’s a beautiful language. If you learn the Mexican varieties, or one of them at least, this one will come very easily to you. I once worked through a small, 10 lesson course based around Central Nahuatl and I found it so close that I was able to pick up a lot of what I heard in interviews recorded on UA-cam in the Salvadori and variety.
