  • Moving to France post Brexit, then you have to watch this!!!
In this video, I answer our subscribers questions about the trials and tribulations of moving to France after Brexit. But despite all the woes, it has definitely been worth it.
We left the UK to live in rural France in 2023.
And we did so with the help of channel 4's tv show A Place in the Sun which is due to air sometime this year...kind of a catchy lyric isn't it? well watch to the end.
We decided that we had had enough of living in England, the UK, sold everything, cashed in our pensions and moved with our two children to the Charente region of rural France.
Well that was nine months ago and in that time we have dealt with some issues believe you me. Condemned electrics that we had to sort, a condemned log burner, a condemned chimney, a leaking roof, a none conforming boss tank, and trip to the A&E (Emergency room) when our puppy scratched our sons eye and he needed stitches.
We have put our two children into the French school system, have started to renovate our house, we have finished the attic and almost finished the bathroom.
This video begins at the very start, when we were in England. We explain about the post brexit visa process and much much more. Our channel has over 250 videos which pretty much documents everyday of our lives for the past 18 months. Our videos are educational, informative but most of all fun.
Oh, and to put everything out there, I was medically retired from the Police due to being diagnosed to complex PTSD due to psychological trauma within the military and Policing. My videos also talk about mental health, anxiety, catastrophising and mens mental health in general. I had done a video on this too.

Thank you for the mention I will give them a call for the S1 refusal when prompted to do so. I was at the CPAM office in Poitiers to hand my documents in person as the application never arrived. Then I went over to the main Prefecture for our region I was told and also asked for advice. In order to get your first CDs when your Long Stay Visa comes to an end. You have to renew it each year for 5 years in a row. You get a photo-card valid for the year And was advised to apply 4 months before your visa ends as there is high capacity in the system , Until your get your 5 yrs or 10 yrs CD issued to you. This is for people after the Brexit agreement. And you have to submit your first French tax return on paper. For the first year only. I was then told to get E-Photos from a photo booth as they have a reference number them. They tap in the number and your picture comes up on the document.
Question . As ex-forces have you applied for a UK - Veterans Card it really does open doors here in France on paper work,
    Merci Jean-Marc

Hey Jean Marc, thanks for all this great info. Really useful to know..
I’ve not heard of a veterans card. I’ll have to look into it. Any ideas as to how it opens doors?

I think Lisa deserves a lot of recognition for the hard work put in to the garden and the growing of the veg. It's very organised and neatly laid out. It takes a lot of effort. I hope it all comes together later this year and you have plenty of homegrown stuff to eat. It always tastes so much better. Top video and nice to see the subscribers going up. Well deserved. AJ

Hunter's are rubbish these days, they've become a fashion brand more than useful, rugged wellies. Personally I'd have Le Chameau everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday over a pair of Hunter's! They're still a lot of money but they stand the test of time, for what my opinion is worth.

It has been a terrible year for growing vegetables in the garden and greenhouse, slugs and snails galore, I've resown and grown Runner beans and French beans, Courgettes are doing fine, peppers and Aubersgenes very slow to take off, and Onions gone to seed early. Tomatoes were doing well, gave away ovezr40 Tomatoes plants as all the seed grew..

Most wellies these days are not made to last, they want you to buy new ones every year. 😢 My Percussion ones last about 4 years but eventually split. I hear Dunlop do a really long-lasting welly. Ahh... shame about the onions! There's always something that struggles every year. 😊

I most definitely am familiar with the 7Ps. They are very good words to live by. One of these days you will get the chance to befriend the wicked witch of the tip. LOLZ! Why in the world would anyone think of wearing wellies as a fashion statement, better question why would a company make such horrible wellies? Having a veggie patch is nearly a full time job it seems. Good stuff my friend. Laterz

Don't apologise about content mate, you can't be on the go 24/7, you'd be bloody knackered 😂 it's nice that you just bring us along doing whatever, I was wondering how Unique was if you do get a chance to give us an update soon. But just do what you do, you put a lot of effort into every video and it shows!

Enjoyed the vid Rob. Kestrel, beautiful bird. Where I live on a hill, the woods are at the top of our garden we manage to see all sorts of wild life, we get deer's visiting foraging for food a Kites circle above us, one sometimes sits looking proudly on top of my shed, has massive talons. Also see a woodpecker bashing the maple trees, and squirrels sometimes look into our back window, our two chase them away lol, but they return again, probably a game they enjoy teasing the cats😊.
Question for you : Are there any other U.K migrants/expats living near you?
    Passé un bon weekend.

As for your question, there are loads. Out of the 6 houses in our hamlet, three are occupied by English. The hope charity shop in Confolens is run by British people (its massive) and is mainly attended by the English too

Thanks again for the reply Rob. Should of mentioned that our cottage is on an elevated view. From the inside and outside the views look over the whole town below us and far out to sea. Only concern we have that spoils our position is that we have a scumbag neighbour a (paddy pikey)😡 You being ex-police would most probably have dealt with rats of his kind. I could tell you more, it would have you shaking your head in shock. Hence one of of reasons we want to move to France.
