  • Moving to France post Brexit, then you have to watch this!!!
In this video, I answer our subscribers questions about the trials and tribulations of moving to France after Brexit. But despite all the woes, it has definitely been worth it.
We left the UK to live in rural France in 2023.
And we did so with the help of channel 4's tv show A Place in the Sun which is due to air sometime this year...kind of a catchy lyric isn't it? well watch to the end.
We decided that we had had enough of living in England, the UK, sold everything, cashed in our pensions and moved with our two children to the Charente region of rural France.
Well that was nine months ago and in that time we have dealt with some issues believe you me. Condemned electrics that we had to sort, a condemned log burner, a condemned chimney, a leaking roof, a none conforming boss tank, and trip to the A&E (Emergency room) when our puppy scratched our sons eye and he needed stitches.
We have put our two children into the French school system, have started to renovate our house, we have finished the attic and almost finished the bathroom.
This video begins at the very start, when we were in England. We explain about the post brexit visa process and much much more. Our channel has over 250 videos which pretty much documents everyday of our lives for the past 18 months. Our videos are educational, informative but most of all fun.
Oh, and to put everything out there, I was medically retired from the Police due to being diagnosed to complex PTSD due to psychological trauma within the military and Policing. My videos also talk about mental health, anxiety, catastrophising and mens mental health in general. I had done a video on this too.

Hi Robbie & Lisa, great vid informing viewers who want to know all about France. We brought our house in 2017 as a holiday home, we loved it so much I sold my business, my husband gave up work & we moved over permanently in October 2020. We have a Hand Holder she was brilliant & still is, she has just done our tax returns, our French is not very good so she has been a life saver. We managed to sell our house in Somerset just in time before the Brexit withdrawal agreement,we had to be living in France before 2021. We are so happy living here, it’s the best thing we did. Hope you will be just as happy ❤🇫🇷

Great Video im awake dont worry. Yes I agree with you I seem to be more busy since I have stopped work and moved to France but had to give up work early because of sight problems. You can be as busy as you want I can get out when I want. Sit in a caffe go visit somewhere. Pop back home for a bit of lunch and out again. You look more relaxed now then at the start of you videos. Just coming across more happier.

Glad the Q&A sessions are popular! ... I have another question 🙈🙈
Are you mains waste or fosse? ... we've inherited a fosse ... if fosse ... what tips have you regarding cleaning without bleach or cleaning painting brushes etc

    • @Escapetofrance-Charente
      @Escapetofrance-Charente  3 місяці тому +1

      No worried Michele at all.
We have a non conforming fosse. You can get fosse friendly bleaches apparently. Every week we put a sachet of something down the toilet which goes to help the fosse create bacteria.
We are probably making loads of mistakes but a new fosse is on our list to get…..one day

Hi Robb. Great video today. Q&A is always interesting and your property looks so lush and pretty. Very impressed with your tile work too. Love seeing you and Colin getting out and trying some new things, fishing & kyacking next. Great things to pass on to Robbi and Angel eventually. I know I’ve been a bit quiet lately, things going on here, but I’m always checking in. Take care. ❤❤❤

Hi Rob. Very informative video. Thank you so much for reading out our questions, the answers you give are truly gold dust regarding the visa application & visit. When the time comes If Diane & myself get our visa, I swear by the all mighty god that if we happen to buy a house in Department 16 Charente. We will take you and Lisa out for an Indian & a few drinks to show our appreciation & thank you personally.
Excellent Aerial footage of the Vienne river. Enjoy that cold beer mate , you deserve it.
P.S. A couple more questions if you don't mind answering. (1) How far is the town of Confolens & any Large supermarkets, plus a hairdresser. Diane would like to know, from where you Live? Q-2. I love watching football on TV. Can you watch English football over there ? 🙏.

My view is that there's slow paced for retirees and then there's French slow paced - Sundays are forced relaxation with closed shops or taking a proper break mid-day and generally not rushing around all the time. I enjoy and appreciate the French lifestyle, both mentally and physically. It is easier to see why the French have a reputation for being happier and healthier.

I liked having Robbie with the transition. A nice touch. Those tiles really helped finish off the bathroom. I bet it feels very good to have it done now. A well deserved adult beverage. Do you need to have a fishing license or anything like that there? Here in the states, each state has their own requirements. A few more like that, and you can fill up a full Sardine tin. Great video as always my friend, Laterz!!

No worries at all. Google translate is great, but you need to be careful. For example, I texted the motorbike dealer asking when i could pick up the bike....in google translate. It translated to "when can I elevate the bike".......it didn't go down well lol

The roses are lovely 🌹I had a very hectic job in retail. Your on your feet a lot, serving customers, online orders/ click and collect, filling shelves, merchandising, stock taking, putting up prices/ sales prices/ clearance. Checking out of date stock.
