will be late in comments as i have limited internet access. But how is Lisas application going as I am in melt down at the moment. I am now 26 days over with no documents or extensions. Still going down the Prefecture and no answers. It was a shame to leave the Charente in July for September is almost always the prettiest month of the year. The mornings are misty and cool. The sun is warm. The grass, refreshed by the first autumn rains, is green. Fruit hangs heavy on the apple and pear trees. And the French countryside seems to sigh with relief. The hot days are gone. And so are the summer visitors... family and friends... the children with their happy cries from the yard... and the parents with their shrieks of horror at the bats flying through their bedrooms. All of that is over. It is time to sit in the sun... and enjoy the calm. And clear as gin night skies when you feel you are amongst those stars in the heavens I miss.
More prosaically, how did you find obtaining insurance in France for your bike was? I am finding it trying to say the least back here in the UK. I am being quoted £4.5k for a Hayabusa.

4500 for your bike? I’m paying 90 euros a month for my MT10 and that’s because I’m starting from scratch with my no claims discount. I used a company called Fab French who are really good

Hi Rob back from the uk today so I am just trying to catch up great to see the kids and grand kids, but WOW my former bit of the uk is well crowded / intense/ wall to wall cars horrible roads holes everywhere so glad to get home, just 4 days, blew me away, as I haven’t been back for 4+ years, I’m desperate for a mobylette or a motobecane sport missed 2 recently great fun, I’ve still got 2 years before the Enfield is due for its 1st CT but had the Vespa px 125 done a couple of months ago and it was so bloody funny the poor tech obviously hadn’t ever seen one before, tell you about one day, 🤣🤣 sorry mate but I think the chickens were ignoring you, French lessons, I’m rubbish in that situation, sorry missed the live chat. ….pete🇫🇷

@@Escapetofrance-Charente Blimey Rob it was more expensive than I was expecting, I think it was €80 for 3 years possibly €70, I was expecting €57 that was what the press was saying, but for 3 years cheap in my estimation, prob more cos my little Vespa was a bit of a challenge 🤣🤣🤣
This one may be a little long!… in your night vlogs over the back field there seems to be a road and also a house which are not seen during daylight. Are my eyes deceiving me? Lisa on horseback is pure gold….sharing with my daughter cause that’s what she loved…and the horses are beautiful! Have never had a curry here in North Carolina, but yours looks delicious! Yea, I was going to say the riding boots are important. They will slide out of the stirrup easier if you fall off. You don’t want to get dragged by the horse, if you are caught in the stirrup.

I highly agree with you about the technical inspection. Simply, this protest certainly comes from the cost linked to this mandatory inspection. Times are hard, and people control their smallest expense. 😋

Good on Lisa for getting riding lessons. It’s very therapeutic. They used to have lessons for disabled children here in Sydney when my son was young which the children enjoyed and they looked forward to each week. Not sure if it’s still going. I absolutely love curries, but my hubby doesn’t sadly. Good for you for making your own from scratch. This is only the beginning you’ll start experimenting 👍

The cost of a contrôle technique for motorbikes is about 30 €. Of course there is the cost of repairs afterwards. And some motorbikes and scooters are "trafiqués" (sorry, I can't remember the english word at the moment), making them too noisy or too fast.
Sounds as though the CT for motorbikes will make French roads safer and quieter

When you do your curry's and rice, make the rice the night before and leave it overnight in the fridge. This turns it into a resistant starch that it better for your microbiome (stomach) helps you not get fat..then just fry the rice in a little oil... Diane et Eliott le Chien

I'm used to obtaining an MOT for my motorbike / car but in NZ it's called a WOF (Warrant of fitness) still have to have a rego but the bike prices are creeping up due to ACC charges, insurance is optional 🙄 how stupid is that ... Good for Lisa taking up horse riding, I have a horse and yes you have to have deep pockets 🤨

About VPN, they "anonymize" you, but the exit points (ip adresses) of the VPN providers, particularly the well known ones, are known by the TV providers and they blacklist these ip addresses. You may have more chances with a small VPN provider.

Lisa certainly had a good seat/ position for first time on a horse for a while. I used to ride professionally when I was younger. There are so many genuinely lovely and helpful people in the horse world.

Good job Lisa, get the stable girl to lengthen your stirrups, they are way too high, your legs need to lengthen so you can stand up in the stirrup and clear the saddle by a couple of inches. They have you in high-speed jockey settings at the mo....and you will be so much more secure with a longer leg. xx

This cannot put people in a good mood.

En fait les contrôles techniques pour les motos sont inutiles. En France les motards prennent soin de leur moto pour plusieurs raisons. Premièrement une moto ça coûte cher à l'achat et à l'assurance et si elle est accidentée neuf fois sur dix elle finira à la casse sans toucher d'argent de l'assurance ou très peu. Donc son entretien est primordial. Deuxièmement les motards en France, en Angleterre, en Allemagne, etc Les motards sont des passionnés et souvent d'une marque en particulier. Ils ne prendraient pas le risque de perdre leur moto du fait d'un mauvais entretien. En France comme partout en Europe ce qui tue les motards et de manière implacable se sera les glissières de sécurité. les infrastructures routières, les chaussées endommagées, etc. a la différence des conducteurs et des passagers de voitures, un motard n'a aucune protection autre que son casque ses gants, sa combinaison en cuir, aucun motard ne prendra donc le risque de conduire sa moto alors qu'elle est défectueuse. Rare sont les motards qui n'ont jamais mis les mains dans un moteur de leur moto.

J’ai assisté à un accident mortel de la route alors que j’étais dans la police, causé en partie par des motos mal entretenues. J’aimerais que nous puissions faire confiance à chaque propriétaire de moto pour entretenir sa moto, mais malheureusement ce n’est pas possible.

N'est-ce pas ce que nous faisons avec chaque loi et chaque règlement ? Tout le monde ne tuera pas quelqu'un, mais nous avons quand même besoin d'une loi pour que les quelques personnes qui le font soient encouragées à rester respectueuses de la loi.

Concernant votre arrivé et votre installation en France. Si vous avez besoin d'aide il existe des associations gratuites de français(es) qui transmettent leurs savoirs et leurs aides dans de nombreux domaines comme les travaux dans une maison, comment mettre en place un potager et une basse court vous permettant de vous occuper tout en produisant une grande partie de votre alimentation qui sera plus saine pour votre santé pour vous même ainsi que pour votre famille.
Par exemple pour vos poules. Vos systèmes d'alimentations et d'eau peuvent devenir problématiques en terme sanitaire. L'eau comme vous la mettez au sol peu favoriser des parasites dangereux pour vos poules et votre système d'alimentation posé au sol la encore va attirer les rongeurs vecteurs possible d'autres maladie, etc.
Si vous le souhaitez je vous mettrais en lien ici même le discord de l'archi pelle qui regroupe un grand nombre d'auto constructeur, de fermiers, maçons, etc qui transmettent leurs savoirs gratuitement mais aussi d'une communauté qui vient en aide à celles et ceux qui en auraient besoin notamment pour des travaux de gros œuvres, terrassement, etc.

Une chose dernière chose, pour avoir vu nombre de famille anglaises venir vivre en France notamment à la campagne et malheureusement repartir car ils ne sont pas du tout adaptés.
Même si la barrière de la langue semble être un frein il ne faut pas baisser les bras et ne surtout pas vous isoler. J ai vu nombre d'anglais ne fréquenter que des anglophones installés en France mais la plus part du temps ils étaient seuls en famille sans aller vers les autres à l'extérieur de leur zone vie.
S'isoler quand on est un étranger dans un autre pays est toujours pénalisant au final. Vos enfants vont vite se faire à leur nouvelle vie leurs capacités d'adaptation comme tous les enfants est formidable. Leur faire faire du sport est une excellente chose il existe des club de rugby aussi et pour les garçon il n'y a pas mieux pour se faire des copains pour la vie^^.
Les adultes eux sont souvent plus paresseux ou préfèrent ne rien changer à leurs habitudes de vie. N'aillez crainte d'aller vers les autres de leur dire bonjour, de leur sourire quand vous croisez quelqu'un dans votre village. Le tissus relationnel dans toutes les campagnes ici en France comme en Angleterre d'ailleurs est très important, se sera votre ticket d'entrée pour une bonne installation dans votre nouvelle vie parmi nous.
Soyez les bienvenu sur le sol sacré de notre pays et puissiez vous y trouver un second souffle pour votre famille et d'y vivre en paix en y trouvant le bonheur.
