I have been in love with this instrument for so long and I know it is very expensive but I think I could maybe make it myself with some friends help but do you think you could make a video with more details about how it works? I think it's amazing and the sound is lovely
@@5SunkenHeights5 Thanks, Reverb doesn't have any now but I'll keep an eye out. I did find one on Ebay Germany, but the starting bid was over $2000 plus shipping etc.
Incredible sound - sounding somewhat like east/southeast Asian free reed pipes (bawu, khaen, sheng) Also intense nostalgia in that it sounds like the synth used in the early days ringo starr Thomas the tank engine music
It sounds like that because those tubes are tuned, their resonant frequency is the note frequency. That means they resonate and thus vibrate and create their own sound. The tubes also greatly emphasize the fundamental frequency of each reed.
Do you still have it? If you are looking to get rid of it, I'll buy it from you. I am located in the United States but I know someone who lives nearby in the Netherlands who would pick it up if you do not want to bother shipping internationally. Let me know.
Lovely instrument - I enjoyed playing it at that concert with you and Wally a few years ago. I thought you might also show how the left-hand vibrato works...
It has a gorgeous, expressive melancholy sound
The sound is very pretty.
Sounds good. Looks good!
Based on the sound, I'd guess it's using East Asian style free-reeds, making this something akin to the sheng, but with a piano keyboard.
sounds like a mellotron!
Now they’re making acoustic instruments to imitate electronic ones! What will they think of before?!
is that weather report at 1:45??

where did you find it?? I'm looking for a claviola for a very long time now!
greetings from germany!
A friend found it in Germany almost 20 years ago
Look into 'arthritis gloves' - the IMAK ones are just like those but look less homeless. (the Hohner is cool)
This instrument is basically a Pipe Melodica. The Pipes act as resonators mellowing out the tone.
It's more than just that. It's using a slightly different kind of reed, the kind used in instruments such as the sheng.
Surely somebody still manufactures this somewhere? It's a beautiful instrument!
Was that weather report at 1:40 ? 😅
Yup!
@@playingthehakencontinuumwi2789 cool :D
Beautiful. Do you know where I could find one?
They’re hard to find at this point. Maybe look on Reverb.com where you can set an alert...?

Yeah they’re not cheap at this point. They also had design problems with sticking keys
Holaaa, very nice video. :)
I have a Claviola un black but the white is more cute to me. Regards from México.
If you ever decide to sell it I would be a serious buyer 😊. Cheers from Los Angeles!
I have on in germany@@Furniturefosters
@@klaufisch6786 Is it for sale? I'm very interested!
Hauntingly beautiful

sounds like a moog synth

LET ME TAKE YOU DOWN~~~
it seems like an organ of clarinet!
strawberry fields forever

I’m so jealous
Oh man! That is a beautiful instrument.
Very cool!
Great demo of a lovely instrument!

@@THEH4RLEMSH8KERS hey, sorry I want to keep it, it is just a too nice instrument 🙈
@@musicfridge Please enjoy it as much as you can! Thanks for responding so quickly!
beautiful sound ❤
Well, it is Hybrid between Melodica and Blues Harp.
But the Sounds is more between a Flute and a Clarinet.
Very cool 😎👍
