  • Learn how to make bath pearls; they melt in water, releasing skin-loving oil/butter. All recipes I researched said to roll the pearls by hand… Not with my recipe! Easily mold the perfect bath pearls. After the pearl dissolves, you're left with moisturizing, sparkling, & scented water. Um, yes please!
    RECIPE: 25 grams butter, 15 grams stearic acid, 10 grams coconut oil (expeller pressed), 10 grams polysorbate 80, 6 grams fragrance oil + "action powder": 22 grams baking soda, 22 grams cornstarch , 22 grams citric acid.
    SUBSTITUTIONS: Use a brittle butter, like cupuacu, kokum, illipe, or murumuru. Stearic acid is a hardener (like emulsifying wax or cetearyl alcohol) & makes pearls firm. Coconut oil is moisturizing, is solid at room temperature, & melts easily. Polysorbate 80 is an emulsifier which allows oil/butter to mix with water. The "action powder" is crucial; it makes pearls firmer and allows it to melt/disperse oil/butter - you can also add salt. *Don't add coconut milk powder, it makes pearls soggy & gooey*.
    DIRECTIONS: Sieve "action powder" (dry ingredients) together. Separately, add other ingredients (except fragrance) & melt. Add fragrance around 215 degrees F; it'll cool to 200 degrees F or lower = the perfect pouring temperature.* Mix everything together then pour into mold. Freeze pearls solid (15 minutes). Unmold pearls while frozen & immediately coat in mica. Once they're room temperature (couple hours), remove excess mica; roll them on paper towel until no more mica comes off. Or heat pearls 1-3 seconds, then roll them in mica.
    **NOTES: ALWAYS experiment with a tiny batch first. *Mixture cools quickly; work fast &/or make small batches. If mixture cools & no longer pours, you cannot reheat it (it'll activate mix), throw it out. If mixture puffs up, try to save it; swirl it around in cup until it depuffs then try to continue to pour. ISSUES: Mixture puffing up can be from adding the wet into the dry too quickly, or if you are using thinner liquids/butter, or if you're using too much liquid. If your pearls smoosh or melt to easily, try using a harder butter like murumuru, illipe, or cupuacu, or add more add more action powder (baking soda & citric acid). If your pearls don't melt well in the water, add more action powder and/or a softer butter that melts more easily.

    I love watching your videos. I’ve learned so much from you. I’m looking for a recipe to make m&p soap dough. Do you know how to make pliable, mouldable pearls and other things? I don’t have a mini mould but I’ve seen some recipes which I tried and they didn’t work. I’m hoping you can help. I’m looking forward a recommendation for dough that is similar to soft play dough that I can mould into pearls and other shapes, that will then harden so they can be added to bath bombs and bath dust. Is that possible??? Thanks in advance

    Hi Dora! You are SO awesome!! Got the ingredients and mold for this! I used Kokum n coconut per your suggestion. I’m in MN. I poured at 167°F and did the half spheres because my pour spout is just way too big. I put them in the freezer for 90 mins. Took em out, melt them a tad n smooshed together. All seemed well with the world. Put them in the mold to keep their shape while setting. I went to check on them at room temp and the slightest poke shifted them. Do I need to add more dry? Get the liquid hotter? Does humidity play a factor? Did I pour hot into powder too fast? Thank you for any insight you can share! Trying to perfect these for a birthday gift next week❤❤❤

    Hi Dora, I made some of these on the weekend and had the cutest jars to package them in. They came out great but today I found them crumbling. I poured under 200 but added the powder to the liquid. Maybe I did not let them get to room temp before rolling in Mica? I used Kokum butter for my hard butter. They were very stable at first. Any ideas to help troubleshoot?

    No matter what I do, my mixture puffs up and thickens too quickly to pour. I pour right at 200 and it immediately puffs up. I've tried 3x

      She said to pour UNDER 200 and the impression I got was to go well below that temp.

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  10 місяців тому

      I go over all this in the description. But I pour mine at 200 exactly bc the mixture cools very quickly. any cooler & mixture seizes in the middle of pouring. OR you can make tiny batches (that don't have time to cool). If your mixture is puffing up swirl it around & try to pour when it goes down. You can try to save it, but it cannot be saved once all the way cool (you cannot reheat it). Mixture puffing up can be from adding the wet into the dry too quickly, if you are using thinner liquids/butter. Try changing amounts. Add less liquid &/or add more dry ingredients. I recommend to ALWAYS experiment with very tiny batches first, changing the recipe & temperatures a little bit until it works.
