Thank you for another great, informative video. Just received my PVS-14, L3, un-filmed monocular from TNVC with mounts, shroud and fast bump helmet. Very pleased with entire process (questions, sales, process and delivery). Keep cutting edge product reviews coming. Best regards.

At $8K plus these should be amazing. Thank you for the information. Talking about e-coti accessories, "pretty expensive..." Lol. No doubt since the device is also very expensive.
Great Review and matches my experience with my eCOTI. Since the PVS31A came out, I have a matching cable on order to power both from the 31a’s battery pack. Pricy but slick!
TNVC’s ECOTI webpage states that the first shipment sold out, and the second shipment is expected in mid-February. What is the current order/backorder, queue/availability status? What’s the expected wait time on backorders, from order to delivery?
Hoping to see a comparison of this vs. the TAD, when it’s finally in stock. The lack of Patrol Mode on the TAD seems like a pretty significant usability issue.
One thing TNVC has that I would like to see is their high end military or law enforcement only thermal weapon sights that hopefully will become available to everyone
They still use inferior VGA or low pixels density OLED displays (640x480). Also, there is a serious gap between military clip on thermal weapons nights and civilian models (the SNIPE IR is a joke.. even more so at $10k). Hopefully some of these superior sights make it to the market soon.
hello my friend regards from chile i , have a question if i may , can this system PVS -31A by L3Harris can be fused with the Optics 1 ECOTI ??? , i can see you can mount this gadget /thermal ) into the monocular, but does it works on a binocular night vision ? thanks
How did your brain handle the slightly different image between the two eyes, with one eye not getting the thermal overlay while the other eye does? Was your brain able to fuse the two images relatively easily? Did you try the advice @WhereNow&How gave in his comments to your previous video, about turning down the gain on the ECOTI-less PVS-14 to half that on the ECOTI PVS-14 (in Patrol mode), and how that facilitates image fusion between the eyes and brain?
So if you had to patrol in the woods, I'm talking thick canopy at night, would you rather use this or the Breach system? I've had very little success with night vision our here in the Pacific islands. We have thick jungle canopy and lot and lots of rain that lasts for months. There's virtually no ambient light since the clouds block out the moon and stars, and even on clear nights not much light makes it through the canopy. Thermal is NECESSARY in the jungle, but I'm wondering if this or the NOD and Brach combo is the better route.
Great question. I’d go with the Breach for dense terrain since it works great at shorter distances and gives a better overall thermal view. So, basically, walk with the -14 / nods and stop and scan with the breach.
Hi Will, congratulations on the gig with TNVC, sounds like a great fit. I have been following your breach/pvs14 videos and have been planning on making the move to something similar to that setup (possibly with the mh25). I plan on using it for animal detection and purely for recreation however I’m now confused as to whether I should get a Coti (pas29, ecoti is out of my price range) or a dedicated thermal monocular. Which do you think would be best for that sort of detection? Already have an unfilmed pvs 14 and g22.
I’m actually going to do a video about this soon. The short answer is that you need both for the best results. By both I mean night vision with a COTI/ECOTI and a hand held thermal. The COTI is great for detecting but in many cases you can’t identify what the hell it is unless the animal is large enough and at a good angle to ID it. Otherwise, you can see that something is there but that’s about it with the COTI, so you can use IR which may or may not work to ID, or do the same with a handheld thermal. A dedicated thermal will run circles around the COTI in terms of faster detection and identification. If you can only afford one or the other, then a PVS-14 and thermal (MH25, Breach, NOX, etc) will give the best overall results but at the sacrifice of having a monocular only for night vision.
COTI needs to be periodically NUC’d while in use. Is that also the case for ECOTI? If so, does that require putting the lens cap back on ECOTI’s objective lens when NUC’ing?
@@charleswhalen7332 do you also put your hand at front of coti to check if you not forget to remove the lens cover after calibration? for me it's a part of routine lol
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION thanks. i need that for custom powering project, it's for TACS-M initially, but am very curious if it's possible to work with e-coti since original coti/ecoti power cables are uncommon, non-standard (like 31/psq36/gpnvg) and expensive. @@wherenowhow6037 yeah, they looks pretty the same, but it's possible the threads are different. Me personally never because I have binos. You can do it however. The drawback is you’re limited to the positions you can mount it due to the -14 body and which bridge you’re using and it adds extra weight to the already heavy dual -14/

@@Raunadraug you know I didn’t try that and I don’t have it in my possession anymore to see. You can get thermal reflections off of glass, so if that happened, the thermal image could affect the NV image. However, it takes a second to put the lens cap back on the thermal which would alleviate that if it occurred.
From TNVC’s ECOTI webpage, I gather that ECOTI has the following two options for auxiliary external battery packs: 1) Optics-1’s 6-Cell GPS-enabled External Battery Pack and Cable 2) BNVD adapter cable for use with the AN/PVS-31A BNVD’s Cold Weather Battery Pack (CWBP) Could you please let me know for each of the above two options: a) the pricing, and b) the added runtime?
