People who do videos like this deserve medals. I was really wondering about the difference between these two particular units, as that was the EXACT choice I made recently with TNVC. Thank you. The difference is *clearly noticeable. Whether it's worth the extra $1,500 or not is up to the individual, but the L3 definitely outperforms the Ebit.
I'll keep the extra 1500. Having done this for a while... reliable repeatable. I've used 6's, 15's, 14's.... you don't get that much time. Specially under ir you won't see the difference.
This makes me happy I went well Elbit instead of the L3.. there definitely is a difference but it's not enough to justify the cost IMO. It basically looks like a picture on your phone when you drag the contrast up a little bit and if you made it a little warmer.
@@musicman1eandacurious, can you enlighten me if spending more on the L3 has aged well in mid ‘24? Looking to get my fist unit but $4500 for a single tube is hard to justify
@rogerloess2379 I actually managed to get the best of both worlds; saved money, and got L3 this year. I got my L3 RVM-14 monocular with 37.5 SNR for just $3,350 from Night Vision Inc., and I LOVE IT. If I remember correctly, $3350 was the Father's Day sale price, and around $3800 was the standard price for L3 from him! I'd reach out to the owner, Glynn Sziraki, to see if there are any upcoming sales.
@@marcusthompson9011 yeah, TNVC and NGI for their release of these offered the DTNVG, RNVG, and pvs-14s with these tubes with a discount for about two weeks for Fourth of July. The DTNVGs I got were $6499.
Have you got yours yet? What were your specs? Mine had FOMs of ~1780 and EBIs of ~1. The spec sheets I saw from people who bought the NGI PVS-14s from the July 4th sale had FOMs of ~1450. I feel like they definitely cherry picked the tube they sent to this guy because they knew it was being sent to a youtuber.
@@12gaugeTim I’m happy with my specs; RES 64/64, SNR 26.8/27.1, FOM 1716/1735, EBI .74/.59, Halo .9/.92, lum 2279/2227, Gain 68725/67459. What put mine down into XLS territory was extremely small blems in zone 2. You will never see them in normal conditions. I had to stare at a white wall for several minutes to even notice them which was still difficult to notice them.
Hey brother, thanks for spreading the info, you have helped me quite a bit and I really appreciate the folks who volunteered some merchandise to experiment .
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION Thank you. Now I'm torn between grabbing a set of XLS duals, or buying another blem L3 filmless PVS14 from NVISON and running dual 14's. Is the extra weight worth the better quality filmless L3s? Looking at the weight of the dual XLS vs two PVS14's, it's a difference of about 5.5 oz. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it's plausible that I would notice the weight difference. Have you had any issues wearing dual 14's for extended periods due to the weight?
Brandon Dual -14’s are heavy but they are manageable IMO. If you’ll be using them for long periods and more physical activity the weight is definitely a detriment compared to lighter binos. The main issues being neck discomfort and because of the weight they may tilt your helmet more requiring frequent helmet adjustment. Truthfully, my Sentinels do the same thing in terms of needing helmet adjustment. I can run dual -14’s all night and it doesn’t bother me but others have a hard time with it. If I were in your shoes I would most likely get the XLS RNVG’s and keep the filmless -14. It’s a pickle that’s for sure. Worst case, you’ll be able to sell either for about what you paid for them in today’s NV market
Haha! For alot of folks, it can be the difference between getting them or not, being able to afford a laser or not (if shooting with them) or kitting out the helmet/mount properly or not. Im getting ready to jump in here, and can say that being able to throw that extra 1500-2000 at a good mount and laser/illuminator will make all the difference in the world.
@@rogueoneoverland4431 I get that, but then just wait a little bit longer. Patience, buy once, cry once. I live my life like this and it's way cheaper and more rewarding in the long run
@AaaaandYerDhem Depends on budget. I have saved up $2k so far for nods but it took me a year. To put that in perspective, the question for me is if I should wait an extra year or so to get L3 or should I settle for elbit? Another question for me is if I should wait an extra 2 years to get binos or get a monocular much earlier?
Awesome job on the video. Thanks for taking the time and creating all the different shots/situations to really give "us" the randos on the world wide some perspective. Appreciate dude 😎👍
It all comes down to the application. Is clarity going to save your life? Is seeing someone milliseconds before they see you going to save your life? It's all about application.
Love your vids dude and you insight and explanation is spot-on, like moon and moon cast direction and canopy/clutter, not seen any other vid that explains that moon light direction and shadows make such a difference.
You're videos are killing me. I enjoy night hiking with my pvs-14 and sometimes even my pvs-7. But these tubes blow mine away. BTW my wife doesn't like you much hahaha. Thanks for all the videos.
Well two days after I watched this video I ordered 2 L3 filmless pvs-14s like yours.....holy crap they are amazing! I had to paid a little more than you did, but they were in stock. Again thank you for you videos, I almost bought some photonis tubes last year, but your videos of the filmless changed my mind. Keep em coming sir!
Looks to me that a SNR in the 30s and a smaller halo would make the Elbit a much more comfortable tube. They are definitely a much more competitive tube for the price. I'll keep looking for a high end Elbit tube personally. L3 hurts the bank a bit too much.
Hands down the Filmless is way way better, the amount of noise in your demonstration shows how much noise interference the films phosphorous does. I’d say it’s worth the money to get the filmless for the clearer view. In several of your photos the amount of noise was crazy. Years ago, I purchased class 1 tube, near flawless. Gen3. At you distances, I can read the lettering on a T-Shirt… Great review
I'm just a grunt used to rocking 14's, but it sure looks like the L3 is a bit overpriced when comparing the performance of the Elbit. I know which one I'll be going with.
No, the L3H unfilmed excels in both. It’s hard to capture in the video but if you select the highest HD setting the differences are more noticeable. There’s a point in low light where cameras make all tubes look crappy. It’s much better to the human eye
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION I'm watching it on a 4k monitor, and to my eyes there is a difference, but I see it as slight. The xls is a bit darker in low light. Based on the vid, I can go with the xls and be served well enough for it.
Given the higher specs on l3 I'd say the conclusion is that there's virtually no discernible difference solely based on tube type. In other words, if the specs were reversed, the elbit would be receiving the praises
That’s a fair statement for the average user. The unfilmed gives much better details especially in the dark dark that can’t be captured by the camera. Nods are notoriously difficult to video in those conditions and they all end up looking the very similar on camera
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION You can use good quality video equipment and save it in non-compressed video formats like .MOV... ...but youtube compression will butcher it anyways.
@@PaulMcDonagh-rv6vc it still does a decent job demonstrating it. Better than no video at all since it’s difficult for most folks to demo nods. FWIW, We do a try before you buy 1 day class through our TNVC training staff. Folks can find it via the TNVC website under the training tab
It seems that the xlsh is slightly brighter. But not as defined as the other. The one on the right for me, is easier to distinguish what im really looking at. Ty
Really appreciate the time you put into sharing gear that most of us otherwise can only read about. Have a selfish question for you. I got one of the 4th of July special TNVC thin film WP Elbit XLSH PVS-14s. My tube has 22.8 SNR and 1.77 EBI which seem to be not great numbers. I am on the fence about returning them and hopefully picking up a better tube. With all the tubes/specs you have had experience with, do you think my tube is worth keeping for $2350? Would my tube be noticeably worse than something with better specs in realistic use, or just when it's super duper dark/would probably use illumination anyway? Thanks man.
It honestly depends on how it looks to you and if you're happy with it. Those specs at that price is a fair deal a new gen 3 WP. I've had tubes that low and they worked good but obviously not as good as tubes with higher SNR. Typically, tubes with these specs will have more scintillation (snow/static) than tubes with a higher SNR and it's more noticeable the darker it is. If your tube has a lot of scintillation and you don't mind the wait, then I think it's worth returning it, and getting one with higher specs. I'm sure if you return it for those reasons, the folks at TNVC will make sure you get one with better specs. But like I said, if you're happy with it, that's all that really matters. I have a buddy with a GP tube with similar specs and it's good enough for him but he also doesn't use it very often. He keeps it more as a SHTF resource in the gun safe.
Earned my subscription and appreciate for the Awesome videos me and some family are looking at getting nods because of the United States going down hill and when you start trying to supply 2 fire teams it gets pretty expensive I’m definitely going with the night goggles xls one day I’ll get a dual tube l3 un filmed set up but I just left active duty and can’t drop 13k on Gucci gear
I remain torn, lol! RNVG with Elbit XLHS vs. a baller L3 filmless handpicked 14. I have used binos and PVS14 walking around and such, and didn't find a huge difference even on un-even terrain. Still, the binos were more natural of course and more "comfortable". That said, I feel like the high spec 14 would "show me stuff" I might miss with the XLSH binos. I have seen XLSH and they were alright in person. Not "bad" at all. However, I have never seen the L3 filmless in person. What's your take between the two, given the above? I will use it for run n gun, hunting vermin, and hiking. NO driving planned.
@@UnobtaniumsQuickReviewsYes, at that price range. If you need to be in that price range $5,800 due to budget, the Night Goggles XLS line is the best bang for the buck I've seen so far for a new gen 3 WP system from a reputable company with a solid warranty. The specs I've seen all have been pretty good although there have been a few with SNR in the low 20's, however, they also had very low EBI (in the .10-.18 range) which will help offset the lower SNR. I won't try to spit shine it though, a lower SNR will have lower performance. It's the price point for what you're getting that is great. In low light, use a decent helmet IR illuminator to make up any performance loss. If you want to be guaranteed the highest specs possible and don't need to be in that price range, I would look at something else. Where I see their value is if someone is in the $4k budget range for a filmless -14 but they can stretch it to $5,800. The reason I say that is because most guys will want duals/binos after they get a -14 and if they were already constrained by budget then going filmless duals/binos can get very expensive. You can add a 2nd filmless matching the specs best as possible between $3,300-$4k (N-Vision blem is $3,300 and everyone else is near or over $4k) with a dual bridge mount. It is fairly heavy and some guys just hate it, which if you're the same it means now you either have to pull the tubes out to put them in a bino housing (which will void warranty) or sell them in order to buy a dedicated bino. Starting off with the lower cost RNVG XLS, most likely you'll like it. Worst case you'll be able to sell it for close to what you paid for because the warranty is transferable and NGI/TNVC has some long lead times right now.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION understood. Great explanation. I will see what I'm feeling by the time I purchase, but as I understand it unless you do a lot of FoF with incoming lasers and incoming white light, tubes last decades. Might as well consider the purchase pain as amortized over a handful of years, and I'd rather buy and cry once. I lean hard toward l3 filmless with handpicked specs.
@@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews Even doing all that FoF stuff they should still last decades. The biggest risk is getting a laser burn blemish. If you want the best performance possible, hand selected filmless WP is the way to go
No doubt l3 filmless are better but the tubes are really far apart in specs. Would be nice if you reviewed an XLSH tube with similar SNR 33-34, low EBI and similar FOM
I didn’t have a choice to choose when I made this video but I honestly feel it’s a fair comparison. XLSH tubes run the gamut in specs. The minimum SNR is 21.0 so this is in the middle. I’ve seen them in the 30s but more in the high 20s. This gives someone a good idea of what to expect on average for the cost difference with the Night Goggles XLSH offerings since they are all priced the same regardless of high specs. The comparison was regarding what to expect for the price difference
@@slipknnnot Nice. The XLSHs can have great specs but it's no guarantee based on the grade minimums. Something kicked it down into the XLSH grade instead of the others, usually a spot/spots or another spec that was too low, etc. Doesn't mean it's a "bad" tube by any means. Most are pretty good. Your specs are really good.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION that’s why I like companies that let you “hand select” which unit based on parameters you’re looking for. Takes time but most good things do.
It all depends on the actual individual tubes and not so much the grades per se. XLS tubes failed a requirement to be a higher grade tube and the minimum signal to noise spec is fairly low but they can have good signal to noise ratios. I would only recommend buying an XLS if you know the actual specs or if the seller can let you choose or accept returns if you’re not happy. If buying purely based on the grade, I recommend an Omni 8 grade as they normally average between 25-30 signal to noise ratio.
Thank you for the video, and asking your opinion for first pair of night vision. I am want dual tubes, unfilmed white phosphor. First time seeing L3 and am torn between that ese three. TNVC has DTNVG white unfilmed at 10k. Night vision inc. has the L3 Harris/PVS-15 and L3 Harris avs-9 at basically the same price. The L3 looks great, put aside the price difference I am making this Invest and want to know what you would go with? Your help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Librado Piña III Out of those 3 housings I would go with the DTNVG. I love the Anvis-9 and have them but they are pretty fragile. I would recommend a sturdier housing. The -15 is an outdated design that is heavy compared to modern goggles, doesn’t articulate much, and can be more difficult to service if you damage the housing or optics.
Cade Edwards I haven’t. I’ll have to check them out The last time it came up I was going to try them but then I ditched dual -14’s and put the filmless into Anvis goggles. I put the filmless back into -14’s so I should give them a shot!
@@wherenowhow6037 Personally, I don't think the gamble is that risky at the XLS price point. RNVG's with gen 3 WP for $5,800 is outstanding considering that before these the cheapest a guy could get were RNVG's with Echos for $6,100. A lot of guys are already overstretching themselves to go binos and that amount of savings is substantial considering they still need a mount, helmet, etc. If someone wants guaranteed higher performance then the XLS is not the best option and they will need to spend more money. I don't see these as being aimed at that buyer and from what I've seen they've been very up front about that. I also don't feel that they cherry picked the tube. If they wanted to do that they would have sent one with higher SNR. I've owned over a dozen thin filmed tubes most of them SLG / SLGDT GP. I've never had one with EBI this low but honestly it looks the same to me as EBI under 1.0 except WP. A guy on ARF just got one with even lower EBI.
Thank you so much for this review, literally 2 exact pvs 14s that i have tabs open for a week now and trying to justify $900 difference for l3 and i think I'll go ahead and cry once :) blur on edges are thicker on elbit than l3, i thought maybe it was camera but all of the shots are same. I know camera doesn't do a justice and it needs to be seeing so can you confirm on the blur?
Lexo B The blur is from the camera adapter I was using. It works better without the eyecup ring. I didn’t take it off on the XLS because I was borrowing it but I did have it off with the filmless.
It's actually not a $900 price difference unless I'm missing something which is possible he's comparing a $2455 Exhibit tube to a $4020 L3 Unfilmed tube. Also from the specs on the L3 Unfilmed I would say that it's very likely he did a handpick on it which is when you pay a little more (usually $200-$400) and the vendor handpicks you a higher spec'd unit based on what they have in inventory rather than grabbing a random unit out of inventory for you.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION Thank you for clarification, in that case it's an amazing tube for the money. What do you think? For $900 i can buy hhv balistic helmet, a good mount and still have good wp tube that performs well in conditions that you have demonstrated. This is my very first investment in NV.
Lexo B The $900 difference you’re comparing it against the N-Vision zone 3 blem I take it? Asking because the no-blem filmless -14’s are $4k and higher. The N-Vision blem models are an awesome deal if they will let you pick your tubes. If you’ll be using it in very dark environments the filmless will perform better. However, adding some additional IR light will negate any performance loss. If you want to run as passive as possible using as little IR light as possible, then the filmless is the better choice.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION Yes, i meant N-Vision zone 3 blem pvs 14 that i think is a fantastic deal, thank you again for your input, really appreciate it. Gonna give them a call soon to see if i can choose the tube from them that would be great.
I have an L3 Harris on the way with similar specs as yours in the video but the halo rating is 1.0. Will that be a lot of difference compared to the .7 of yours?
Not in terms of the image. It’ll only impact light sources as that’s what the halo does. 1.0 is noticeable compared to 0.7 but only noticeable when looking at lights or laser bloom
No. The XLSH is a lower grade commercial tube that is essentially a “fall out” and doesn’t meet the requirements of even the higher grade commercial tubes. They are still good tubes but something is off with them which knocks them down to the XLSH grade. It could be spots, specs, or something else
The first time I ever got to use NVG’s was when I was watching NEOWISE…some badass random dude walked over to me and let me try on his NVG setup, it was some white phos dual tubes(I didn’t know this at the time) and it was so badass! I remember thinking damn I HAVE to get me a pair, then I saw prices and my soul imploded. Haha. Amazing experience though.
Not really a fair comparison... Can we perhaps see top end Elbit gen 3 WP vs top end L3 gen 3 WP? Like in this video look at the specs... besides EBI the L3 blows the Elbit out of the water. The L3 has 2462 FOM while the Elbit only has 1753. Current Elbit mil spec tubes have 2600-2700 FOM. I only ask this because I am debating between the PVS-31D (only has elbit tubes) or a DTNVS or 1531 BNVD with unfilmed L3 tubes
Armasight pvs 31 with elbit tubes are running 13 grand on optic planet. 2376 fom. Is that what they sell for?? Those seem to have the best stats for a duel tube that's available right now. Am I mistaken?
2376+ FOM is extremely common with L3Harris unfilmed WP tubes. You can get 2376+ FOM with L3Harris unfilmed white phosphor in many other systems for less money such as in an RNVG, DTNVS, and also the L3Harris BNVD AN/PVS-31A and BNVD1531. The L3Harris unfilmed tubes also have much better performance than comparable filmed tubes such as what is in the Armasight goggle. Also limited lifetime warranty (10 years for tubes and lifetime on the rest of the system) from TNVC for TNVC built systems and a TNVC 5 year warranty on the L3Harris BNVD systems.
I have a PVS 14 L3 WP filmless 20 UA and a set of ELBIT DTNVGs WP. My question is this: Keep what I have or sell the everything to get a pair of L3 WP filmess? @nitewalker
Joel Aispuro Have you compared them side by side to see if you think the difference in performance is worth it? For me it is but for some, thin filmed WP is fine.
Kick ass video I really like that you do very low light shots everyone else aviods that because they want to make the unit look as good as possible but I'm out in low light more than I am in high light so it's important to see functionality. I've got a high spec L3 Filmless and there's a difference there but that little Exhibit tube didn't do too bad for the money not at all.
Gs Xr 💯👍 I really like showing the low light stuff because that’s where it really counts IMO, even though I do get asked a lot - “how come they look so bad” lol. Almost every gen 3 tube will look pretty awesome under a good Moon or in higher ambient light.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION I agree the low light performance is what's really important to me but I use my 14 alot in wilderness areas that don't have any city light at all and in those conditions what we're seeing here is good performance even from the Exhibit it did pretty well in very demanding conditions. I appreciate that TNVC provided you a unit for testing and a video I would imagine knowing that some very low light shots would be taken.
The XLSH is not the top tier ELbit tube. It is a mass market consumer grade tube. The top tier thin film tubes are quite excellent. I have had several thin film tubes with fantastic performance.
i noticed your xls tube has higher specs than your itt/harris tube but looks noisier, is this true or am i wrong? which one looks better to your eyes if you dont mind me asking?
dont forget with unfilmed you get a lot of FPN (fixed pattern noise) in some tubes. My DTNVS has L3 unfilmed... my next purchase will be with high spec Elbit tubes
It depends on the specs but if they are in the same ball park then it will look similar. The phosphor color may be a little different but I've never used an L3 thin filmed WP so I'm not 100% on the color.
the reason I got night vision is literally for astronomy. Been doing astronomy for 20+ years. mix night vision with a hydrogen alpha filter and the skies come out with many hidden gems
That’s just how that one looked. In the low light conditions the lower signal to noise ratio is more pronounced compared to the unfilmed tube with the higher snr
Is there an auto gating whining sound from these XLSH Elbit tubes? Also where are you finding the guys showing their tubes from the sale? nice video thanks!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video! I've only had the one so I can't say on average how loud the autogating is but the one I had was virtually silent. It's on the AR15 forum: www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/Thin-filmed-WP-from-TNVC-sub-2400-ARRIVED/18-513044/
ok . because i went to check on the TNVC website and the snr for the L3 harris gen3 un-filmed wp is "24:1" minimum. I wanted to make sure of the exact snr when i buy it. thank you for your answer.
So, I've been hunting around for some tubes. I was looking at the Photonis Echo clean hand picks from some people for 1,800. But I heard from some of my friends about the ELBIT XLS tubes that I could get better performance out of them for cheaper. I have seem some of your videos with the comparison with the Harris and the Photonis in lowlight and it seems like yes I can see a little more but not by much and by then the noise/scalling seems like identification is pretty much impossible (at least on video) while the echo image is still sharp but just not as bright. (So would the argument be said both would be using IR by that point?) I also came across one other comparison on ARF showing the same thing across the L3, ECHO, ELBIT . But that was the only one comparison. But as the market is right now I'm unable too find any nor any idea on what that "Cheaper" price is. Plus the majority of reviews I see of the echo it seems people are comparing them to the hand picked L3 filmless. I also already own a very clean GEN3 LTT thin film which I'm going to be comparing them too. (I'm building a set of binos)
It’s pretty much roll of the dice if you buy XLSH tubes sight unseen without knowing the actual specs. Some have high specs and some have low specs. Unfortunately, if you want higher performance, you have to pay for it and ask for spec requests. Personally, I found the Echos to be too dark for my likening even in brighter light conditions. Most of them do provide a nice image however.
Enjoyed video comparison thanks i am retired army guy using wifes account im looking to purchase a high end night vision any suggestions anybody that hives militart any discounts?
Pretty sure the Elbit XLSH is the lowest quality intensifier they make. In descending quality, Elbit offers VH (aviation grade), YH (mil-spec), SLH (upper grade com-spec), and XSLH (low grade com-spec). It's comparing a $2000 tube vs a $3600 tube. Not bad for the XLS
That was the point of the video and mentioned in the video also. It is a comparison to show what to expect from the lower cost tube compared to a more expensive unfilmed one.
By design (physics) unfilmed tubes will have greater light transmission in the darkest scenarios and higher image quality and sharpness with less bloom than a filmed tube. That much is true and apparent in the video. Is it worth close to double the cost? Objectively, no. You're paying almost double for 10-15% more tangible real world performance over even the most standard of Gen 3 milspec tubes. Moore's Law but for night vision: the last 10% is always the most expensive.
It's good to have a wife willing to sling a rifle. Nice to know when you are in the yard working hard you've got an ace up your sleeve at the kitchen window. Just how God intended
It’s not meant to be. I know most folks don’t watch the whole video but I explain why in the beginning. It’s to show the difference to expect at the two different price points. Most sellers up charge higher spec XLSH tubes whereas Night Goggles doesn’t but also they don’t allow for spec requests. This video was meant to show what to expect on average
Selecting the HD video setting shows the difference better. It’s more obvious in the finer details and contrast. The shot against the building is a good example. Video doesn’t capture it completely

Hey brother, thanks for spreading the info, you have helped me quite a bit and I really appreciate the folks who volunteered some merchandise to experiment .
OK. I can totally work with the Elbit XLS.
Definite noticeable difference in image quality and edge clarity. Thank you for the comparison.
Brandon The edge clarity is a result of the camera adapter I used. It works better with the eyecup ring removed and it wasn’t removed on the XLS.
NVGs are like level 4 body armor: once you get to a certain price point, further improvements require a lot more money.
Buy once, cry once. When you're already spending $8500.....what's another $1500? Thanks for this video. Exactly what I needed
Thanks for this great comparison

Awesome job on the video. Thanks for taking the time and creating all the different shots/situations to really give "us" the randos on the world wide some perspective. Appreciate dude 😎👍
Yeah, that difference is definitely NOT worth $1500.

Keep em coming sir!
dan jones Glad it helped! Filmless is awesome.
Looks to me that a SNR in the 30s and a smaller halo would make the Elbit a much more comfortable tube. They are definitely a much more competitive tube for the price. I'll keep looking for a high end Elbit tube personally. L3 hurts the bank a bit too much.
L3 IS HUGELY OVER HYPED, WHICH IS HELPED ALONG BY THE INDUSTRY pr MACHINE.
I'm glad I got the L3. Dont get me wrong, the other is still good, but I need as much as definition as possible for the task at hand.
Yet another fantastic video - thank you for this information!
I love these videos! More of these please! Maybe show us something that is under 60K gain compared with 70K?
Hands down the Filmless is way way better, the amount of noise in your demonstration shows how much noise interference the films phosphorous does. I’d say it’s worth the money to get the filmless for the clearer view. In several of your photos the amount of noise was crazy. Years ago, I purchased class 1 tube, near flawless. Gen3. At you distances, I can read the lettering on a T-Shirt… Great review
👊🏼
I'm just a grunt used to rocking 14's, but it sure looks like the L3 is a bit overpriced when comparing the performance of the Elbit. I know which one I'll be going with.
So main takeaway is that in bright moonlight, the L3 excels, but in darkened environments both tubes are almost the same in performance.
Thank you for making this video freaking great
Given the higher specs on l3 I'd say the conclusion is that there's virtually no discernible difference solely based on tube type.

The one on the right looked the best.
Hey thanks man. I think this will get me to get into night walking. Keep up the good work.

The L3 showed more stars in the moonless shots.
Is that due to camera sensitivity or is the situation the same for the naked eye?
Arno nümuss Sam’s camera settings. The filmless was better with the sky.

NUTS
Unobtanium'sQuickReviews Take the RNVG’s. Binos will let you do all of those things far better than with a single -14.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION even at omni V performance levels like the elbit xlsh tubes are coming in at, vs a true omni VIII pvs14?
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION interesting I picked up a XLSH with snr of 33, ebi 0.51 and halo 0.7

Awesome video as always
Great video. Thank you for the info!
Thx for the nice comparison. If on a budget, would you rather choose XLS GP or Omni 8? How do you see these two performance wise? Thanks again!
If buying purely based on the grade, I recommend an Omni 8 grade as they normally average between 25-30 signal to noise ratio.
i know this is an older video, but i recently got ahold of a xlsh tube with better specs than the l3 in the video and wondered where that would fall.
It should look similar to the L3 tube provided the specs are close to the same although the phosphor color may be slightly different
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION thank you for the reply.
NITEWALKER thank you very much!
great comparison. Have you used Sure Shot Night Visions SNB filters? i would love to see you use them.
Cade Edwards I haven’t. I’ll have to check them out The last time it came up I was going to try them but then I ditched dual -14’s and put the filmless into Anvis goggles. I put the filmless back into -14’s so I should give them a shot!
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION Awesome!
WhereNow&How I’ll have to give those a shot
@@wherenowhow6037 Yes! they are amazing!
Excellent comparison video.

Dope video man, super helpful
I have an L3 Harris on the way with similar specs as yours in the video but the halo rating is 1.0. Will that be a lot of difference compared to the .7 of yours?
Not in terms of the image. It’ll only impact light sources as that’s what the halo does. 1.0 is noticeable compared to 0.7 but only noticeable when looking at lights or laser bloom
Is this the same Elbit tube that is in the 31D?

SO YOU WERE LUCKY TO GET THE LOWEST GRADE XLSH TUBE FOR COMPARISON…. THAT ELBIT OFFERS.
Guess it's just my eyes but the xlsh looks better to me in crappy conditions
The L3 filmless is hands down better
You rock
It's good to have a wife willing to sling a rifle. Nice to know when you are in the yard working hard you've got an ace up your sleeve at the kitchen window.
Just how God intended
Side with your white brothers if shit goes down.
@@fantomxjagger2603 I side with my white brothers regardless.
Not really an apples to apples comparison as the elbit has shit photocathode and snr numbers compared to the l3 specs
Mak3s sense. Thanks for making good content
If she takes good care of her feet then you know fo'sho she takin wonderful care of the poom poom !!
I see no difference?
Selecting the HD video setting shows the difference better. It’s more obvious in the finer details and contrast. The shot against the building is a good example. Video doesn’t capture it completely
Unfilmed shows a boost in definition.
Set the video to HD helps
Nightgoggles.com seems completely sold out
Giffy Yeah they are. From what Vic the owner said, this was their biggest sale to date, and they took a huge amount of orders.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION That's awesome. I hope business continues to progress.
Giffy Crazy times people are buying up NV
I love my xlsh i will get an l3 one day soon though and kick the elbit to my gf and use the g.p 14 as a loaner
VOLUME TOO LOW
Unfilmed all night every night.
💯
