Just seeing this older video now. "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Literally! Awesome job transforming this piece of furniture (at no cost) and keeping it from the landfill. I think it turned out beautiful. You two are inspiring.

I think you did a beautiful job, Doug! I would be very pleased to have something like that in my living room. I think the fact that the top isn't perfect makes it more genuine, if you know what I mean. I love to crochet and my husband tells me that the flaws in my work just show that it was handmade and he thinks that is special. I think that is how I feel about the "flaws" in your bookshelf. You did an amazing job of turning an abused dresser into a very nice piece of furniture.

Idk about were you live but we find free dresses all the time the one has 6 draws and we gave each of the kids their own draw for their shoes then we used the other 2 for their hats and gloves we have 4 kids and buy stock in hats and gloves when we can get them cheep cause they are always losing them. We took another one and left the drawers out and put it in our basement for our over flow pantry. With so many people in our family and a small kitchen we had to find another placeto store our dry foods. Really like this video gave us ideas for the next free dresser find. Thanks for sharing

My husband took an old tv stand, cut it crossways. Made 2 book shelves out of it. One with doors. It had to be fastened to the wall to keep it from being tippy but, he moved some shelves, much like you are doing, and added some by using those little shelf holders you can buy. He drilled little holes into some of the braces, and had room for those little shelf holders. Voila, 2 shelving units out of one. That turned out great. Didn't even need to buy shelf supports. Can't even notice the uneven shellac on top. Besides, buy the time you put a 'scarf' on top, a lamp and a plant or some other chotchkies, It'll be covered. I love it and I'm sure Ashley does too. Kudos.
