Just seeing this older video now. "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Literally! Awesome job transforming this piece of furniture (at no cost) and keeping it from the landfill. I think it turned out beautiful. You two are inspiring.
You are extremely talented to be able to repurpose a chest into a shelf. The finished product was excellent. It looked so nice in your living room. You and your wife do such a good job with your projects.
Looks good and the fact that you had the stuff on hand and repurposed a find is awesome. Love repurposing, you know what they say, necessity is the mother of invention. Thanks for sharing.
that is great doug you should be proud! as a diyer i have found that some things like drywall or furniture refinishing take a lot of repetition to get really good at so stop being so self critical . love you guys !
I SEE A LOVELY JOB. DOUG YOU HAVE A MECHANICAL MIND YOU TAKE THINGS APART SO EASY AND PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER AGAIN IN A NEW FASHION. THIS DRESSER LOOKS LIKE NEW CAMPARED TO HOW YOU FOUND IT. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
I love how you use what you have to make something useful that you need. There is way too much waste these days. It's unbelievable what you can find in the trash.
It's so gratifying to see other folks taking a frugal and green approach to decorating their home! 🏡 It looks so good! Keep on keeping on. I for one didn't mind the music.
I think you did a beautiful job, Doug! I would be very pleased to have something like that in my living room. I think the fact that the top isn't perfect makes it more genuine, if you know what I mean. I love to crochet and my husband tells me that the flaws in my work just show that it was handmade and he thinks that is special. I think that is how I feel about the "flaws" in your bookshelf. You did an amazing job of turning an abused dresser into a very nice piece of furniture.
Idk about were you live but we find free dresses all the time the one has 6 draws and we gave each of the kids their own draw for their shoes then we used the other 2 for their hats and gloves we have 4 kids and buy stock in hats and gloves when we can get them cheep cause they are always losing them. We took another one and left the drawers out and put it in our basement for our over flow pantry. With so many people in our family and a small kitchen we had to find another placeto store our dry foods. Really like this video gave us ideas for the next free dresser find. Thanks for sharing
Don't put yourself down it turn out great. It will be cherished for many 🌙 moons.I've seen what you can do with wood and the ability to turn something from trash into a usable piece of furniture.👍 great job.
I wish I had a fraction of the talent you guys have. So awesome, and gives people ideas. It is sad that we live in a disposable time, I miss the old days when things lasted longer, were fixable.
Looks great! A lot of work but that bookcase will last. U inspired me to repurpose & finish a few pieces I have in the garage that my Grandpa made. Thank!
I think you did a Great job and it was free. You had a plan and you implemented it. I think it was a success. Maybe your video will motivate me and able me to think of something as well. Have a dresser want to convert into something. Have a blessed day you and your family.
My husband took an old tv stand, cut it crossways. Made 2 book shelves out of it. One with doors. It had to be fastened to the wall to keep it from being tippy but, he moved some shelves, much like you are doing, and added some by using those little shelf holders you can buy. He drilled little holes into some of the braces, and had room for those little shelf holders. Voila, 2 shelving units out of one. That turned out great. Didn't even need to buy shelf supports. Can't even notice the uneven shellac on top. Besides, buy the time you put a 'scarf' on top, a lamp and a plant or some other chotchkies, It'll be covered. I love it and I'm sure Ashley does too. Kudos.
In my opinion, it looks GREAT!!! 👍💜 Did you do it all in one day?! You two work together so well! That's fantastic and something to be very proud of. It shows your children how married people SHOULD BE!!! 💙💜💙💖
I found your channel by happy accident and am so very impressed with the two of you. So, I have subbed and looking forward to seeing more of your life.
Picked up a free marketplace curb alert dresser missing the bottom drawer and damage to bottom sides. My idea was to turn it into a bookcase. So came to youtube to see somebody else do such a transformation. Thank for posting your work.
What kind of stain was used on the top? Nice work. I'm refinishing an 80-year-old curb find dresser now. Real wood, rabbet joints, and entirely built with nails. It's so interesting to see how they built things back in the day.
Use the back part for storage. I'm screaming "NO!!! NOOOO!!!" as you said chop it! :'( Lol! But great job! It's very cool and didn't cost a dime - gotta love that!
when you put that dark 'stuff' on the top I shouted at you, loud and louder, NO, NO you did not hear me! But then when you wiped the top I saw how beautiful it turned out, then the finished shelve, oh my goodness, very nice. As usual, good job!
That opening made me laugh SO HARD. It reminds me of when my niece was that age lol, they are just so goofy. Anyway, thank you so much for showing this DIY! I have an old dresser that I just cannot part with; but I also don't like using dressers. This was the perfect solution.
Doug, I'm not sure how I missed this video. once again your vision & skills are amazing. Great reuse video, and new edition to your home. Nice bookshelf!!
It looks good! I’m so impressed with the way you took it apart and made it into shelves. I never think about doing that. What a great project! Thanks for sharing with us. You’ve inspired me to think about how you can repurpose things into something useful!
I think that was more of a chest of drawers than the dresser cuz it was so tall. I still have my dad's and it's just sitting around collecting dust cuz I can't part with it. This inspires me; turning it into something new instead of getting rid of it. Thank you.
That’s what I’m thinking to do with one of my old dresser, into a bookcase. But I’ll leave the regular hight. Because I love books and have a lot. Thanks for sharing.
I like the lines of this piece. I would've picked it up off the side of the road too. And, you did a great job repurposing it and choosing the correct proportions for the new height and the placement of the shelves.
SEEN YOUR VIDEO HERE ON MY TIMELINE & WATCHED IT. NICE FIND, & U'VE DONE A GREAT JOB WITH TURNING IT INTO WHAT YINZ BOTH DESIRED A BOOKCASE & ON TOP A PHOTO DISPLAY.... .....AND YES: I LIKED & SUBSCRIBED AZ WELL .....

Thank you so much. :) It does look very nice in our living room. We've been looking for a long time for something to put there too.
Wow!!!! What a beautiful bookcase. You did a wonderful job! ♡
LOVE what you did to it. Music is VERY annoying tho. You did a great job!!!
That music drove me up the wall!!!
I just turn on close captioning and turn sound off it works!!
😄 I must be weird cuz I loved the music
Totally agree about the music...very annoying!
Looks good and the fact that you had the stuff on hand and repurposed a find is awesome. Love repurposing, you know what they say, necessity is the mother of invention. Thanks for sharing.

The piece you cut off would make a great childs bench! Add backing....etc. Love to see reuse! Great video!
I thought the same thing!
Don't sell yourself short. This came out great! Those imperfections makes it perfect!
Idk about were you live but we find free dresses all the time the one has 6 draws and we gave each of the kids their own draw for their shoes then we used the other 2 for their hats and gloves we have 4 kids and buy stock in hats and gloves when we can get them cheep cause they are always losing them. Looks super. It's refreshing to see someone recycle.

Reduce, reuse, recycle is a big thing in our family. 👍 really like this video. I think it looks amazing! You did a really good job
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this transformation! Looks like something at an antique store😀😀🐦thank you! Genious!!
Very nice! I love repurposing things.....and often pick things up off the roadside.
Beautiful job , thanks for sharing.
You did an amazing job. I'm always impressed when someone can see the value in discarded things...and give them a new life. Well done.
Would make a great tv stand too! Awesome job!
Looks great! A lot of work but that bookcase will last. U inspired me to repurpose & finish a few pieces I have in the garage that my Grandpa made. Thank!
Great job 👍 your wife should be proud to have a great handyman to make beautiful things out of junk👍 I think it turned out gorgeous ❣️❣️❣️
Awesome job..love it!!..beautiful..my 12 yr old getting up for school said instantly "what is that creepy music?" I said,"its a furniture video."
haha, thank you.
Absolutely beautiful! U did a beautiful job!
I think the top looks good! So, much better than when you started! Great project!
Turned out great! I love doing this stuff.
I think you did a Great job and it was free. You had a plan and you implemented it. I think it was a success. Maybe your video will motivate me and able me to think of something as well. Have a dresser want to convert into something. Have a blessed day you and your family.
I like the dried areas, they just offer a bit more character. I love how methodical you are! Great repurposed dresser.
The top half of that dresser would make an amazing bench with some hairpin legs added.....
oh that is amazing! you did a sensational job - oh no the top does not look lousy - it looks wonderful!
Thanks!! :)
OMG!!! No Way you never did that before! That looks fantastic!
I think it looks great. Free is great. I have an old beat up dresser so you gave me some good tips.

Sweat a beautiful finish to the top! I am impressed! What a beautiful piece of furniture you ended with!
Excellent job you did with re purposing that dresser & best of all it was FREE!! Looks really nice in the living room & the height is right.
In my opinion, it looks GREAT!!! 👍💜 Did you do it all in one day?! You two work together so well! That's fantastic and something to be very proud of. It shows your children how married people SHOULD BE!!! 💙💜💙💖
Excellent refurbish!!
Wonderful job. Perhaps a small lamp and a couple of bookends for the top. Of course framed pictures would look great as well. Thank you for sharing.

I found your channel by happy accident and am so very impressed with the two of you. So, I have subbed and looking forward to seeing more of your life.
ditto Jan n Bruce
Nice job looks like it was bought that way. And for the people who dont like the music there is always the option to turn down or mute the sound.
I really like the bookshelf I'm amazed how it turned out.
Hi, I think you did a wonderful job. There is history and a lot of character in this piece. Wonderful job.....
Looks good I do stuff like that every so often.keep it up
Thanks!

Another Great video!!
It turned out great! I always enjoy repurposing items. I find that the most fun and satisfying challenges just use what one has on hand.

Outstanding job. It looks beautiful! I have been doing things like this for years and I love seeing how each one comes out!
Use the back part for storage. I'm screaming "NO!!! NOOOO!!!" as you said chop it! :'( Lol! But great job! It's very cool and didn't cost a dime - gotta love that!
Looks great, I guess I am outnumbered, I liked the music. Can't please everyone. :) Thanks for sharing.
when you put that dark 'stuff' on the top I shouted at you, loud and louder, NO, NO you did not hear me! But then when you wiped the top I saw how beautiful it turned out, then the finished shelve, oh my goodness, very nice. As usual, good job!
it's beautiful and if you are worried about the top just put a pretty runner on top :D
You did a great job on that dresser :-)
anything can be done with all the fantastic tools u have. I'd love to have ur workspace.
Well done! That turned out beautiful! You two are very talented. God bless.
Nice work. I think the top looks fine
That opening made me laugh SO HARD. It reminds me of when my niece was that age lol, they are just so goofy. Anyway, thank you so much for showing this DIY! I have an old dresser that I just cannot part with; but I also don't like using dressers. This was the perfect solution.

Thank you so much!
I love that style and I think it turned our GREAT! Love it! Great job!
I really like what you did with your roadside find. I would be interested to know what you did with the other half of the dresser.
Awesome, but way too complicated for me. Great job! Thank you for showing it inside, in the living room! Very nice!
Great video I've always wanted to stain some of my antique furniture. It really came out good.
It looks good! I’m so impressed with the way you took it apart and made it into shelves. I never think about doing that. What a great project! Thanks for sharing with us. You’ve inspired me to think about how you can repurpose things into something useful!
Belle was so funny jumping like that and then playing opossum Lol
looks great. add a nice lamp so you can choose a book & read at your lovely bookcase. soft lighting options in a room makes such a big difference too.
great idea. you were able to see something special out this trash. Thanks for sharing.
I think that was more of a chest of drawers than the dresser cuz it was so tall. I still have my dad's and it's just sitting around collecting dust cuz I can't part with it. This inspires me; turning it into something new instead of getting rid of it. Thank you.
Yes, I would consider it a chest but I felt like it could be confusing for a title so I called it a dresser because more people could relate.
It's beautiful! Great eye to see garbage as something beautiful! ~Trish
Thank you, Trish :)
Looks great! Love free!
Super result; thanks for the video sharing!!
Great job! It is so good when you see the end result in your mind and then it all works out. I love your mcm style.
Wow you are a pro!! It looks totally AWESOME 👏 👍🏻😀 great video

Great build enjoyed your display of skills!
Looks so good. I can dig it and the music
Your husband has so many skills! Where did he learn all this stuff? :)
Just learned over time and he also seems to have a natural ability for this sort of thing :)
i would put some baskets on the top shelf for some hidden storage
Very nice, my dad who used to repair antiques would, like you, give it a sideways complement amidst the critique.
