I was there when this video was shot in my neighborhood, but my 12-year-old self was scared to go up in the front to dance so I stayed near the stairs🤣. BDP is legendary. This is when hip-hop belonged to the inner city, in its purest form. 🔥🔥🔥
@@RYANDEOROCK Around the corner from 166th Street & Boston Rd at 1122 Franklin Ave there used to be an Armory Men's Shelter that Scott La Rock worked at. Some of the video was shot down those stairs across the street from that building.
His lyrics about kings just rule… that was a subtle diss to Run-Dmc. He threw subtle digs at them a couple times. It’s significant to note because he later had a cameo in Run-Dmc’s return of the kings video. It was cool to see.
"The way some act in rap in kind of wack...and it lacks, creativity and intelligence, but they don't care cuz their company's selling it!" More relevant now than ever before.
Timeless! 🔥🔥🔥 The problem that some have with the current generation of rap is that, we had most rappers/emcees spittin knowledge and wordplay, the consensus was for a rapper to be somewhat knowledgeable, even the ones who weren’t trying to teach or preach, only for the art form to degenerate to what is popular right now just like he’s describing in the song.
Keep up the Good Work Young Sister Its encouraging to see the younger GensZ yourself bring the GREAT Hip Artist like KRS-1 who still puts it down lyrically to the Young Ytubers audience and even the older. We need to be reminded that REAL HIP HOP still lives on to the New GenZ and ALPHAS and beyond.
I was 12 back in 1988'' when this album came, And i be rockin Boogie Down Productions since Criminal Minded way back In 1986'' KRS 1 has been In the Hip Hop game pushin 40 years. This is his 1st video that got him more popular at that time, But Us real Hip Hop Heads Know of Kris for the diss track The Bridge Is over Dissing Legendary Juice Crew Rappers Mainly Mc Shan, Roxanne Shawntae, Mr Magic And Marley Marl. KRS.1 Is a Legend And he is still a Active Mc Now.😎
Fun fact. When this video dropped, it was one of the HARDEST videos to find! I mean you'd watch Rap City and Yo MTV Raps for WEEKS and never see it. When I finally caught it again, I couldn't put the VHS in the deck fast enough!!!
I love your reaction. But, I find it funny that you're like just my kids - just came back from the pool. Really, good reaction, darling! Keep going....
yo kidddo no fiction if can you follow my writing you'll see i'm not lying; i am way too oid for you Except as a mentor.. I already got two too but they're over there, not trying to get in anyone else's underwear i want someone who can rap back to That's all nothing else see i need your perspective, your wisdom gee yeah, I only need your mind and your wisdom i'm not a kid so i ''m not I trying to be one. If you want to... Enter the cypher... press enter and go, yo, yo ,yo can you handle your own... I already have a beat in mind depending if you can come back, and rap, or -you cannot do that? Silliest song but, Britney Spears "hit me one more time" A piano heavy beat, with solid bass, and some funky overtones. I cannot do it alone...Are you up for the challenge? you can PM if it is more comfortable for you.
Please react to Hilltop Hoods “Live and Let Go” and/or 2013 Cypher Golden Era Records Both are Australian Golden Era is the record label and the 2013 Cypher has all the rappers on the label including the Hilltop Hoods.
This album (By All Means Necessary) is in my top 3 all time. The album version of this song is better. You don't get thevwhole first verse in the video version.
If you'll recognize, that sample: "It's not about a salary, it's all about reality.", NWA used it as a sample on one of their songs; a 'hook' for that particular jam. This song is partly WHY I chose philosophy as a course of study...and such.
I wish , you would not have played the video because in the video there is a huge chunk of the first verse that was missing when he went acappella. That is made apparent when you play the song without the video.
I LOVE this song but HATE the video....real Old School HipHop heads know why. The edits that they did in the video destroyed the vibe of how the song originally flows. Listen to an audio only version, trust me you'll see what i mean. KRS will ALWAYS be one of THE greatest!!
This is when Hip-hop was truly Great!! KRS1 is one of the 5 greatest MC's of All-time!!!
Alot of what he said in 88' is still relevant today in Hip Hop and life
Especially when he spoke of rappers showing less creativity and intelligence!
"The way some act in rap in kind of wack...and it lacks, creativity and intelligence, but they don't care cuz their company's selling it!"

Im in BX everyday. I was trying to figure it out! Where was it filmed?

I can imagine the energy that was in that room
@@robertwilliams4887 Definitely!!!
That Kool... I always wondered what are those kids in the video doing now
The sample is from a 1972 song called
"Sister Sanctified" by Stanley Turrentine & Milt Jackson
thank you cuz....much love
He has a crazy bounce to his cadence on this song which is still unmatched 😅
His lyrics about kings just rule… that was a subtle diss to Run-Dmc. He threw subtle digs at them a couple times. It’s significant to note because he later had a cameo in Run-Dmc’s return of the kings video. It was cool to see.
He threw subtle digs at them, mc shan and LL.
Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone 🙌🏾

I agree and I notice other genres devolved, as well, particularly country and rock.
That was a truly innovative point for music videos when he started the video with the in & out acapella
Krs One is a philosopher, his raps are about teaching. It's no gimmick as he still does this to this day. Check his interviews.
" Knowledge Reins Supreme Over Nearly Everyone"
