US Vice President Harris received this medication only 3-4 weeks after her 4th dose of a COVID vaccine. Was that helpful? Is Pfizer being transparent with its data on this new medication? I am a consultant in Internal Medicine with special medical interests in gastroenterology, cardiology, and echocardiography. I am a a full-time practising physician in these areas. I was an undergraduate at the University of Toronto, Trinity College where I received a number of scholarships including one for top student at Trinity College. I attended medical school at the University of Toronto graduating with a gold medal. My internship was completed at McMaster University in Hamilton followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in London. I then completed a fellowship in General Internal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. I am an active echocardiographer who has been certified and recertified by the National Board of Echocardiography. I am certified in cardiac sonography and have trained and completely educated a number of cardiac sonographers. I am the medical director of my cardiology laboratory which was established in 2001. My laboratory performs echocardiography and stress echocardiography amongst other tests. I maintain my certification in the American Board of Internal Medicine. I have over 27 years of experience as a hospital-based consultant in internal medicine and intensive care unit attending physician. Hello Dr. Moran, do you have any information on immunosuppressed people who also have to take immunosuppressants? Paxlovid is still under an EUA, and the warnings given at ERs include serious interactions with immunosuppressants.
Isn't Paxlovid discontinued for "AIDS" because of the horrid side effects? I read that on a medical journal site.

Excellent. It is good to get reliable information which is impossible with the CDC.
Jeff CDC released studies in 2020 and 2021 showing Infection Fatality Rate was 0.4 %, i.e 4 deaths per 1,000, average age 78, average co-morbidities 2.6, later increased to over 4, and 94% of the 0.4% had co-morbidities. These studies told me the official response was a massive over reaction, when you compare IFR of Spanish Flu, about 5%, i.e 5 per 100 for which a massive response is required. So CDC did two worthwhile studies, in my opinion.

As a clinical Pharmacist, I had those same questions as I was reading though the limited data. Just like with the vaccines, the CDC and the government have immediately jumped into recommendations without much transparency from the manufacturers and the FDA. Thank you for providing some answers and guidance.

Seems like many of these studies compare apples to oranges. Data can be manipulated to prove what a researcher wants to prove.

Excellent points Dr. Moran. Same questions and concerns that I have. I've also been reading that some who are now taking it for 5 days for symptomatic infections, are having reduced symptoms while taking it, but have symptoms return upon finishing the 5 day prescription🤔
Thank you for commenting. One or 2% of the people in that particular study did have a relapse of symptoms. That was seen in The odd person in the placebo group and to be honest we sometimes see that were someone's getting better and then feel unwell for 2 or 3 days and then feel great afterwards. Improvement with an illness is not always a gradual steady recovery in all people. It's not completely clear what is causing this observation.

I happen to be a genetically poor specimen gifted with inflammatory autoimmune diseases.😉🤣 I am glad to hear that so far it seems to be a small percentage. Very possibly people like myself. 🙄

I am a nurse practitioner and I was just speaking with a fellow physician colleague how frustrating it is that we now have to question info from the CDC, WHO, source like Medscape, Up to Date, etc. Ironically, a You Tuber physician provides more objective information than most of these sources. I learn more from your videos than I do from those sources that seem to only want to push a drug or vaccine for everyone. Unless I was lied to, I was told to always take an individualized approach to medicine in school. Hopefully, we can get back to this some day. Keep up the great work!

One of the biggest mistakes in the pandemic which I think I mentioned in my video about pandemic mistakes is the fact that most healthcare providers are not able to critically appraise the data that we have to make decisions. Too often people read the abstract or conclusion of the study and simply accept the methodology. It needs to form a larger portion of medical training as well as ongoing continuing medical education. With respect to this video you commented on, Pfizer has finally done a press release on their "standard risk" cohort and Nirmatrelvir/Ritonavir was not better than placebo. The UK panorama study is going to take a look at different high risk categories using this medication. It's sad to see in the US that about $10 billion have been spent on this medication to give out to many people who were at very low risk of having severe disease to begin with. Some physicians actually have been giving it to patients to take with them on holidays to other countries where the drug may not be available (In the event they develop COVID while away) and so many of those doses aren't even going to be used! Many physicians on podcast simply state that this medication reduces your risk by 90% of hospitalization but that is only in the unvaccinated group at higher risk which is disingenuous as I mentioned in the video. Healthcare providers need to be more critical when we look at our practice patterns.

Vaccine free ...had covid Feb 2020 .
No symptoms since .
Typical big pharma trying to find more profits. My wife an ER nurse and myself are not vaccinated , I contracted covid in Jan 2021 and recovered in 10 days . Treatment was monoclonal antibodies , hydroxicloricon and ivermectin. Being 68 and having a problem with atrial fibrillation, I did ok.
Having a very good background in science ,I feel the M Rna concept has serious future implications.
In regards to VP HARRIS I HOPE SHE HAS GOOD WELL BEING. HOWEVER IT IS HARD FOR US COMMON PEOPLE TO EXCAPE BAD DECISIONS FROM A COLLUSION OF ILL INFORMED POLITICANS AND GREEDY BIG PHARMA.science

It seems somewhat reasonable to recommend Paxlovid for patients who are unvaccinated and who have not been previously infected or especially for those who are immunocompromised but to give it to the rest of us may be a waste of resources. Thank you Pfizer for the vaccine but maybe you've already made enough money from this pandemic.

Another excellent objective and informative video. I say when something is covered by insurance it makes it way too easy to just say "yes I'll take it" and potentially waste money rather than assess the value proposition if someone were spending their own money out of pocket.

I was receiving alerts on my phone that were actually paid for advertisements advising me, in an urgent tone, to ask my doctor about this pill/ medication if I had any symptoms. The commercial , ( which seemed like it came from the CDC), warned at the end ' ... before it is too late. ' I checked into it and found out it was an advertisement from a company That I am not familiar with. I blocked it and reported it to Google and u-tube. But now I wish I had saved it and alerted the authorities about this type of misleading advertising. I feel Iam usually we'll informed, but even I almost fell for this ploy. I did mention it to my doctor. He said he considered the pill a little too new to the market to regularly subscribe. He didn't mention that I would have to stop taking my cholesterol medicine,which I feel is risky. Thanks again!
There are people who are NOT asking for the "recipe" for instance or people's names in the so-called "trials" but, why is it that mRNA (Pfizer in specific) is NOT willingly releasing the "data" on either its vaccines or the Paxlovid for (if they could help it that is) for 50 to 75 years? Would any of us be alive then due to normal causes or sane enough or would the companies be around? I think NOT! How many Jabs would be "enough" then and is this newer pill like the Tamiflu that most doctors do not prescribe due to efficacy? What about "informed consent" reasons? John, you are right that there is only a boost in antibody for a short period of time which will reduce the odds of a symptomatic infection during that period. The real question is whether the 4th shot actually helps with any long-term immunity. We don't know the answer to that.

Side effect risks ⁉️ Vioxx killed my father. Robust health at 90...daily yoga & walking 2 miles a day. An immediate care prescribed Vioxx for his knee discomfort. That was the beginning of the end. He seized/stroked in a week. VA hospital baffled. They thought heart condition. He almost died right there needed a blood transfusion. Yet no one asked/figured out in the hospital about the Vioxx. Six months later heard it on the news but the damage was done. Daddy was never the same.

D and zinc don't do f all, a friend of mine thought that, he's no longer with us. Antibodies would have helped him but he was convinced.

@@kittendkat5100 apparently he took 10,000 IU per day for 2 months so he probably took too much , (it has a U curve) , too much is as bad as a deficiency .The false sense of security that killed him came from thinking this would do anything at all. Big trials on D shows it does nothing. It sure didn't make antibodies.
Yeah it would be nice if more people would do the simple things. There is a lot of evidence that vitamin D and Zinc help reduce the symptoms and length of viral infections. Maybe this would be a good time for CDC to remind people of the affect that obesity has on your immune system also. Along with all the other health problems it causes

Really strange. There were so many other off label drugs that could be used for covid treatment which could save lives, but we were banned from medicine. I am vaccinated because of forced vax. But i do believe on natural immunity.
@@pietrotm1949 natural immunity didn't work for 15 million people. You don't make antibodies instantly, it takes 10 days or so. If you give covid a 10 day head start it replicates wildly, some people can't handle that and they never get on top of the virus or when they do it requires such a large inflammatory response it kills them. Having antibodies early works. I don't know about the other drugs, I think suppliments like D and zinc are useful if you have a genuine deficiency , and sure eat well be fit and healthy but the push for hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin was political and misguided and a lot of fraud was found in the bigger studies, one the main studies that supported ivermectin the authors had enrolled dead people into the control arm of their study. All I know is disinformation killed my friend 💔 and it may not be a popular take but I actually think vaccine manufacturers (whilst not angels) the run of the mill scientists and doctors who work in the field are being massively misrepresented by a bunch of disinformation specialists like afld and aflccc. What is Dr. Moran’s opinion on giving pfizer vaccine to kids under 16 years old? I watched so many videos and forgot his view on this.
I’ve never been vaccinated or infected, and have been hoping to use Paxlovid when I need it. It seems hard to get, which is disappointing. I’ve been so careful all this time, because I’ve been waiting for an antiviral.

you better careful about pfizer, it is not good idea to take medication. i have 3 doses, the second dose, three day from vaccination, i notice my chest pain on the left side. and the third doses, extremely headache, in the third day, my nose is bleeding. and now suffering congestion nose which never happen before. they want you to get sick. you still going to get common colds..

If you are implying getting the vaccine would have shortened the pandemic? ....the vaccine has effectiveness of 12% for first few days and then it declines rapidly ( per Pfizer own documents) and does NOT stop transmission. @Kelly S I hope you have some immunity from an asymptomatic case. Paxlovid, malnupiravir, ivermectin, or immune suppressants should help in a symptomatic case.

Don’t worry about going off statins especially if you have never had a heart attack. They are highly overrated.
That's an important point, Susan. Statins are clearly indicated when someone has had a vascular event such as a heart attack or stroke which we call primary prevention. Otherwise, if you haven't had a vascular event taking statins for secondary prevention is less beneficial and depends upon the patient's risk.

It would if that person had risk factors. There was a chart I showed at 9 or 10 minutes Into the video about how doctors in Canada might use Paxlovid in people who were unvaccinated and vaccinated.
My understanding is they are only using it for people with risk factors so I have no idea why the vice president got it unless she has risk factors
