Thank you!
Been using Lr for almost 2 years now and I can say I’ve finally found a decent tutorial explaining how to use the targeted adjustment tool. Thank you and looking forward to experimenting
Anthony, this is one of the most useful and beneficial tutorials yet to date for the "average" user. Just excellent. Thank you for sharing. And I agree that using the Targeted Adjustment in the HSL is better for the reasons you mentioned.
I just now learned of the targeted adjustment tool in the tone curve. I tried it to reduce the light pollution on some night sky images and it really worked great using the parametric version. Thanks.
Thanks Anthony, I’ve never used the targeted adjustment tool but will probably do so now after watching your explanation of how to get the best results from it.
Thanks for the great explanation and demonstration. I will give it a try. Looks like a great way to bring out the best in images.
I've been using Lightroom for over a year now, but I didn't know about the targeted adjustment tool, so thank you for that, Anthony! It looks to me like it will be useful for me in the HSL area. I adjust particular colors fairly often. I think this will help target the color in the image I'm using better, rather than having to guess which color(s) is/are most appropriate to adjust.
Excellent! This is valuable to know for my automotive photography. Thanks!
I love it when I learn something I can and will actually use - thank you
Wow, thank you for posting. Very beneficial. I did not know about this. Cheers from Canada.
I use it in the HSL panel frequently. When doing real estate interiors it makes it easier to control color casts and to adjust specific colors. I had not thought of using it on the curves to adjust shadows.
I use it all the time for food photography; fantastic way to make certain colors in food pop more. 😋
thanks….. always learning!
I’ve used it for some years now, ever since I started using LR 5.. someone put a video on it.. maybe it was you..I use it mostly with HSL to adjust skin tone... now, the tone curve application is new to me.. I’ll try it!!., Thanks, Anthony!!- Carlos.
Hi Anthony. As usual, you have given me an exceptional amount of ideas that I will study closely and use your tips on a daily basis. You sure keep me learning and trying. A week ago I attained the age of three quarters of A CENTURY. Bloody hell, thank you for your knowledge and commitment.
Thank you Tony !!!
Here is a suggestion too !! (1) In Basic Panel, on Right Hand Top Color : Black & White hit Black & White. (2) Now HSL panel becomes B&W. There is still Target Adjustment tool. Select it, drag this tool over portions of the picture that is now B&W, watch its B&W tonality change with color sliders on B&W panel sliding along.
For this helps me in managing the tonality of B&W by enhancing the original "colors", something like filters or pseudo filters..... Call it what you want, but do check out the tonality impact on B&W by this targeted adjustment tool.
As rjo34, I am a real estate photographer and use it in the HSL panel frequently and use it sometimes to adjust shadows and highlights.
Great stuff!
I never use targeted adjustments in the Tone Curve and occasionally use it in the HSL panel. Thanks Anthony.
No, I never use the targeted adjustment tool. I haven’t discovered a good reason to, yet. Another great little tutorial Anthony! 😎
The TAT with HSL is particularly helpful to me, because of a mild color deficiency ("color blindness"). I often don't really know what color (or mix of colors) an area is, so using the TAT helps me to make changes that remain natural looking.
That was on target. Thank you.
I didn't even know it was in the HSL panel but yes I do use targeted adjustments.
I don't use the targeted adjustment tool very often - sometimes for HSL; rarely for Tone Curve
Thanks!
Thank you very much Jeff!
I use it a lot while in the HSL tool. So much so that when I'm in another program that doesn't have it, such as Luminar, I really miss it.
Thanks, I've used it occasionally. I suspect that since it effect the whole picture, an object that is a mixture of colors might be effected even if you didn't want it effected. I guess that's where PS with masks comes in.
Hi Anthony, I use it in the HSL panel but not the tone curve.
Thanks
Thank you William!
I sometimes use it in curves to place the point exactly on the tone I want to adjust. Then I move the point “manually.”
Hi Anthony
Occasionally use in Colour module but you need to check that the colour change in the rest of the image is not causing a problem
I only use ACR for these types of adjustments but it's surprising that LRC functions differently than ACR when it deals with the point adjustment tool?
I can't use the tone curve because it will make everything look awful. For example, if I bring the highlights down a little, it turns them an ugly grayish color
