In this tutorial, I explain how I deal with images that are a stop or two over or under exposed. I do the demo in Lightroom but what I go over in this video is applicable to any post-processing application.

G’day Anthony, you sure know how to give us huge amounts of useful material of which we can follow and learn how to make a photograph really stand out. I learn on an almost daily basis. I appreciate your attitude and knowledge. It’s almost Midnight and this old Bloke is watching and learning. Thank you.

Anthony, definitely among the best tutorials I have ever seen. Followed your process step by step on some of my over and under exposed photos using both On1 Photo Raw and Luminar AI and it works perfectly every time. I tried it on both jpeg and raw files and it works with both although I found the results better with raw files. Thanks a bunch.

Very simple and easy to run! Obviously, after that beautiful video lesson demo you kindly gave us. Fantastic! Thank you very much for this valuable teaching.

Thanks. Very helpful, High-low first, then exposure. Didn't know that. Thanks also for limiting this video to 1 problem. Editing it further is a different subject. Many tutorial makers can't resist the opportunity to show how much further this photo can be improved.

Thank you so much for what you do. Some images from my Italy trip in 2019 are important to me. Unfortunately, the light was simply not very good some days. The technique you describe here took the underwhelming captures from ho-hum to very good end products. I questioned setting -100 highlights and +100 shadows. However, once I tweaked Contrast I was quite happy with the results.
You are a treasure of knowledge and so very easy to listen to as well. Know that you are appreciated.

This is good information, I have one question, on a pc, how do you make the side panels larger. My eyes are getting older. Lol

I know it depends on individual or creative but Most professional strictly advice never down highlight -100 and +100 for shadow because image turn in unnatural and pure HDR. They always say try to keep natural than looks like heavy editing. Sometimes its makes hallows if highlight is 100%down and +100 SHADOW.

Thanks, the key is working with a raw file. My guess is that a jpeg wouldn't give you near as much flexability.

Does this work with photos of people too? I've found lowering highlights and raising shadows 100% can make skin tones look a little off....

Your technique is much like mine but after you finished I would have done a little dodging and burning to highlight the areas where I wanted their eye to go.

I don't agree with the overexposure of the first image. I put myself in that time of day given the type of weather, clouds, etc and I'd have to say I think the camera's interpretation is accurate. The 2nd image definitely needed adjustment.
