Excellent presentation, as expected from your videos.
The way you take your time to explain not just what the sliders do, but how they do it, really helps me understand the processes in your videos.
As well as learning the topic of your videos, I always feel I come away with a few little shortcut extras , too - either new ones, or those I’ve seldom used and then forgotten.
    👍🏼

Great approach: color noise -> luminance noise -> sharpening. That helps a lot. As to the grey scale and the edge between the two tones of grey. You said the image is JPEG. The tonal changes on either side of the edge between the two tones are cross bleeding artifacts from the raw processing done in camera to generate the JPEG form the raw shot. Ideally, that cross bleeding should not happen. Compared to 15 years ago, it is marginal, but it is an artifact, nevertheless. It would be interesting to see how Lr does this compared to the camera, when it starts from a raw file. When you sharpen that transition - you mentioned micro-contrast before - it feels again like micro-contrast is applied and it feels like it highlights the cross-bleeding which is undesired. As the border between the two grey patches is precisely vertical, another presumed effect of sharpening would be how the app depicts curved or slanted lines in a raster of pixels (anti-aliasing). It would be interesting t zoom in on that too.

Great instruction. It definitely provided me with a clearer understanding of the finer features of the detail section! As I watch your videos, I am finding that often "less is more". Starting out, I have been over-using some of these features to the detriment of the photos. Thanks!

This is great! I like your workflow within the app, and your use of highlight tools to demonstrate the techniques is very helpful. I will practice this workflow til I get it! Much better than my random approach. I would enjoy seeing a sequel where you show what’s possible with this image in LR as compared to Denoise or which ever other one you pick. Thanks again Anthony. I’m about to get the new MacBook and I think I will work through some of your other videos. Geoff

Thank You, I think your comment about doing in LR or PS is the first step. If that doesn't work then plug-ins are a great solutions, but a lot can be done just in LR/PS. Especially Masking sharpening in PS via masks.

Something I’ve had good luck with for OCD people or people who have more time on their hands is using the brush tool to sharpen and remove Noise from the background separately. Just mask off what you want effected. I found especially useful for wildlife photos where you can make them really pop from the background.
But now I am just spoiled by Denoise AI and Sharpen AI…

great work!! color default value of 25 is the worst setting in lightroom for high iso photos. it reduces the colors of the photos. it should by by default at 5 like your video settings

    Another terrific demonstration Anthony, thanks.
If you have a set of photos taken in the same setup (same camera, lens & most importantly same ISO) would you try to optimise the de-noise & sharpening on one typical photo and then synchronise those settings to the rest of the set? Or is it best to run through this process on each photo individually?

I know when you use Topaz, you always denoise before making any contrast-affecting adjustments, which makes sense to me. Do you follow that same logic when staying in LR? and if so, when do you sharpen?
