- Is it bad to sleep next to cats? 😴😾 While many people enjoy sharing the same bed with their feline companions, not everyone considers whether or not it is healthy for either ourselves or the cat. My cat October had cancer that couldn't be fixed. Sleeping next to me helped to comfort him in the months before he died.

Rip, didn't get to October. At least cancer isn't transmittable; my friend lost his 4 dogs to the same disease which caused their brains to slowly disintegrate.

That doesn't sound crazy at all. When my cat/sleeping cuddle buddy died, I couldn't sleep in my bed for months, and got insomnia for half a year before I was finally sleeping more than 3 hours a night again

I don’t sleep with my cats but I do sleep with my 4 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua every night since I rescued her a few months ago. And the one night when she didn’t sleep in my bed with me I actually had nightmares.

That's the same age as the black and white cat I had. She'd wait for me to get sound asleep before getting between my ankles on top of the blanket. She got to where she couldn't jump, so I built her a small set of stairs to climb up on and get on the bed. I don't see how anyone couldn't love a cat. Breaks your heart when they're gone.

My first memory is of our cat "Blondie" sleeping next to me in my crib before I was one year old. I have had cats share my life ever since and I'm almost 70 now. My cat sleeps with me every night and I can't imagine any other way. Cats are wonderful, MEOW!

bon qui qui honestly its fine. Just make sure you’re changing your sheets weekly and get a lint roller which is like £1.00 and do a quick roll on your bed when you make it up in the morning. (:
@@bonquiqui8190 I had the same problem until I started using a blanket over the bed . When the cats sleep with you or jump in bed only the open side of the blanket will have cat hairs. You can simply slide under it and the bedsheet won't have cat hairs and there's less risk of inhaling them.

My cats literally cry if they can't get into my room. I have anxiety issues and used to have a lot of sleep paralysis. My cats (4cats, but mostly 2 or 3) always sleep around me or on me, and they help me sleep better. Every time I wake up, they come to say goodmorning. I have asthma problems and allergic to mites, but I just change my bed regularly. Sleeping or relaxing with my cats, makes our bind stronger. They sleep like babies, like there is no worry in the world. Love them so much

Sleep paralysis is absolutely horrifying. I keep amphetamine by my bedside drawer because if I have it then go back to sleep it will happen again. So when I have an episode I put some amphetamine in a cup of coffee and I’m up for the day. Sounds extreme but that’s how terrifying it is to me.
My Cats slept when and where They pleased and if I didn't like it was ignored. Dogs have owners, Cats have staff.

I slept with both of my cats from when they were kittens until they both passed away my first one passed away at almost 12 years old and my one who is actually a month older than the first one passed away last November at 19 years 7 months old. I enjoyed sleeping with them and they enjoyed driving me nuts helping me sleep and just hanging around.

My cat slept with me from day 1 but turns out he has excessive energy, even for a kitten, and simply can't leave me alone. During the day it is already almost impossible to get to my work (he's going to get homeopathic medicine after advice from vet and behavioural specialist), but I only slept 2 hours a day... when he did. After 2 wks I had to decide to no longer let him into the bedroom. We're now 3 weeks further and he still doesn't understand that. Every night it's a hell to make sure he's far enough away from the hallway door so I can open it to get upstairs without him sneaking up with me. Every night it breaks my heart. But well, fainting and getting migraines constantly because you haven't slept at all or hardly in days isn't healthy either. So indeed, definitely don't kick them out after a longer while. Make up your mind fast if it's a yes or no as soon as you've adopted your furbaby. If it doesn't work out, don't wait too long to make a decision to change it.
I really wish he could come back. While he isn't the type to stay with me on the mattress (he prefers sleeping on the floor or *under* my bed, but this could be because this summer is really hot), the first half hour we always cuddle or he lies between my feet and falls asleep like that. After half an hour he wakes up and jumps down. It's just relaxing for me to have him there and I love to see him happy and relaxed. Especially because he always wants to touch a part of my body when he falls asleep at first. So cute!
I really hope with all my heart he starts sleeping a lot more - also for his health - and will calm down too. That way he would be welcome in the bedroom again. But they told me, at 2 years of age at its earliest probably or maybe never😔 if this energy is a character trait instead of part of behavioral issues (which it is currently treated as. He also bites when he doesn't get attention. Even when you've just played with him an hour and he's dead tired. He just fights the sleep).
I hope all your cats are happy and healthy. My Minós (despite his behavioral problems) is such a great addition to my household. Can't imagine life without him🥰😻🐾.
I've always let my furr babies sleep with me. It does make me happy and relaxed. But sometimes I don't have room to move but I can live with that 😁

There is nothing like inside cats, it's just we have come up with to reduce our guilt that we're locking up our cats.

I sleep with three on a queen sized bed. There is plenty of room on our nightly love boat cruise. No one sleeps too near anyone else and yes the sheets are changed weekly.

I couldn’t imagine not having Jackson right next to me during the night. My ex used to have a problem with cats in the bed....needless to say, he’s the ex and no longer invited 😏. Jackson is a rescue and registered emotional support animal to help with my anxiety and depression. There is nothing like a cat’s love 😻❤️😻
How cool that you could register your cat as such. I have mostly physical health problems (sometimes a depression as a result) and I've noticed a slight decrease in pain and increase in relaxation. Emotionally the difference is enormous. I wish I could register him like that aswell in my country, cause he's saved my life! (I was in such extreme pain that even specialist doctors agreed life wasn't worth living. Being with him feels like my pain meds suddenly work 10 times better and I can sit for 10 minutes straight when he's purring and I can feed him and clean his litterbox. It all hurts, but I *can*. I was completely bedridden on my stomach before, didn't eat, hardly slept from pain, couldn't function. For others this would still be reason to end things I'm sure, but getting a semblance of normalcy after that hell...to me it feels a bit like a life again. I wish I could also start up my volunteering again - helping others, inspiration etc as experience consultant).

My fiancee and I have 7 rescue kitties! From 14yrs old to 1 yrs old. My 4yr old siamese Titus was given to me by the vet when our beloved Tonto passed away. Titus had a very noticeable head tilt and was oblivious to loud noises plus extremely crosseyed. We thought for the longest time he was deaf! But kept him anyway, didnt want him to be with out a momma. We acquired him when he was 6wks old(someone threw him out into an alley! Cops rescued him) he was a tiny little guy who ran in circles most of the time. And he loved to snuggle with me. He has a unique way of sleeping with me. He'll crawl onto my chest and has me roll him over so he can sleep on his back! He has to have both my hands touching him and my right arm around him, if I move my hands he'll grab them and pull them back to him. Once he got lost for a week, and we were so traumatized as well as himself that he's slept by my side every nite since then(for 2 yrs now). Couldn't imagine my life w/o him! Hes a love bug!

My little Banshee used to curl up on the pillow beside my head. One morning I woke up and found her little claws wrapped around my finger. I found her dumped in a ditch alongside a country road when she was maybe 2 months old and she always loved me for rescuing her. The feeling was mutual for 10 years until sadly we had to put her to sleep with cancer June 14, 2010. I will never forget my little black cat Banshee.

My cat Harry is the best sleeping pill and antidepressant. There is never a day that I don't wake up to thank God for bringing Harry into my life. He was found in a puddle of water by a man who surrended him at the vet clinic my daughter works at last year. He was only 2 weeks old...in fact he was an early Christmas present last year 2018...he came into my life at a time where I needed unconditional love. Cats know how to love...more than what my Ex husband ever would understand or know. Cats are awesome!:)

Hi, we are not at all trying to be misleading. if you watch the video you can see there are things to consider. While a cat may want to sleep next to you, there are times when this is not a good idea (for either you or the cat).

I adopted my cat from the local Humane Society,she not only sleeps with me but sleeps on me !!
I slept with my cat for 14yrs I have allergies and breathing issues...The only issues I had were #1 he would lay down near my feet as I was crunched up so when I wanted to lay straight it was hard for me to stretch my legs I had to be crooked....the other place he laid was to spoon me with him in front because Im a side sleeper he would manuver himself right next to me touching me from his head to his tail...so in the mornings I would have to lint roll my bed and pillow where he was....The positive was like I said I have trouble breathing he would pounce on my chest everytime I stopped breath which would make me gasp for air and in turn start breathing again...I had no issues sleeping next to him because I loved him so much I never minded the so called issues that came with it. Sadly he passed away in May this year (2019) I would give anything to sleep with my baby again....problems and all....😞
My cats sleep with me, especially my butters, and I had to get a breathing machine for sleep apnea, scared my cat, and he wouldn't curl up with me anymore. After a few months, bye bye machine. Slept better with my cat.

My cat sleeps with me all the time. When my kids come to stay she sleeps with them. She will visit me though to say hello and has a cuddle then goes back to them. She protects us all. She is a seal point Siamese and is just the most loving thing. She helps me relax at night and never leaves my side.

A few months ago, my elder cat, Ben, came into my boat at 7am and looked at me and his sister, Lucy, who was on my bed, one after the other. He was obviously jealous. My cat loves to cuddle with me, and would sleep with me every night if I let him. But it’s dangerous. While asleep I rolled over onto him and he FREAKED OUT. Woke up to screeching noises while my feet were being torn up by his claws. my sheets had blood everywhere!
I couldn’t sleep without my cat Tom next to me at night and you should hear him purr he gets his last feed of the day just before bedtime and that keeps him sleeping all night 😻💕

I don't know why I bothered clicking on this. My cat sleeps beside my head, eats my hair and gets up after 20 minutes to spend the next hour wandering around yowling and I still let him sleep with me. Nothing I learn in a video will change that.

Sleeping on the head can be a domination thing too.
The main problem, I find sleeping with my cat, is that he is spacious! He occupies most of the bad and I am left with a little part. This usually gives me backaches.
Can't you just move it over could it scratch you if you try? I am just curious thinking of getting a cat never had one

I have two cats. The youngest one sleeps right beside me or at the foot of my bed. It's rare that my oldest cat sleeps near me because she doesn't care for the youngest cat that much. But when I woke up this morning, I expected to see my youngest cat in the bed but it was the oldest. They switched shifts for the night lol.
I get awake because my cat is on top of my head.
That's me..mine is too fluffy and it prefers sleeping on my head... I love it thou

@@kellsasitar3229 mine chose me cuz at home the rest wdnt cuddle with it.. They pushed it away xuz they aint too cat ple like ME ..so i guess deep inside they can tell who tolerates them and share their love with that person
I'm the fortunate slave of three tomcats, two are nine and the other one is two years old (he was rescued). They've always slept with me since they were little kittens and they are not used to sleep in any other place at night. When morning comes, one of them puts his paw on my nose or cheek and begins stroking me. I know it's breakfast time.
The reason why I let them sleep with me is very simple. When my blackie was about 1 year old, he was sitting on my bed at about midnight. I had turned off all the lights and was about to sleep when he starts hissing, growling and meowing at the door, which I kept open. There was a "presence", if you wish, that I had felt for some days, and when my cat began growling and hissing at it, it just went away.

I've had cats since I was six anr most have slept with me, cats even slept with my children as toddlers in their crib. I lost my 19 yr old 3 months ago, she passed next to me in the middle of our bed. It's so empty right now. My daughter has 2 cats but they are her rescues and she sleeps in "their" bed. I do miss the purring at night.

I always wanted my dog to sleep with me but she was really independent (or maybe I moved too much?) When I rescued my two kitties (some months apart) they slept with us in bed because they chose to and I loved it although it kept me up (especially as kitties). This video doesn't take into account that cats are not dogs, dogs can understand you want them to sleep outside but still love them, if you hurt cats feelings or shun them the bond between you can break easily and they may learn to live full time without you. If you don't like dirt or bugs, don't get a pet. They live precious, short lives and you should enjoy every moment and make memories!
My cats sleep with me. One in the bed and one on top. I went away for 3 days and when I came back the younger one slept in the bed on top of my shoulder with her head tucked into my neck for several nights. Nearly broke my heart that she would miss me so much because she's a very independent little miss.
My cat has her own adult sized single bed ..she stays with us for 15 minutes or so then toddles of into her own bedroom with her soft toys
Can't sleep without my cat beside me! It is the most comforting moment of my sleeping time. 😍
