I understand that. I don't have a cat yet, so there's noone who would hate me. But I believe you could build new trust together if you know that she is uncomfortable. And knowing that something is wrong will help you. So wish you that your cat is happy and loves you:)
me personally my cat would never hate me like literally i got myself a leepard gender ahh cat and ong its like the most dumbest cat gender out there preach to all of them
My cat is obsessed with me. When I get home from work she legit follows me EVERYWHERE! 😂❤️ Even if she’s sleeping next to me on the couch and I get up for two seconds to get a drink, she’ll wake up and follow me into the kitchen. She sits in between the curtains the whole time I shower, and never allows me to get up because she’s constantly on my lap, arms or legs. Sleeps cuddled in my arms every night. She is my best friend. Look forward to coming home to her every single day! Love you Emmy! ❤️
Same!!! Sometimes I think that I don't have a cat but a dog instead... We shower together, she eats when I eat, she goes allmost everytime on the toilet when I go... Sometimes it's allmost creepy but I love her so much can't imagine a better cat then her
lucky… I catsit for the 2 most adorable cats but they follow each and every one of these signs. One is pretty much all the reasons except for hiding, and the other is super scared and hides and bolts when you appear.
Only saying because you say you sleep with your cat. Cats lick their anus than lick their fur. Their saliva is so toxic that as soon as a wild animal as so much as a tiny scratch they will die in 48 hours due the bacteria a cat harvests. So unless you have a 100% indoor or catio cat- you run a high risk to be infected.
@@abfmkarin Saliva that kills prey within 48h sounds more like comodo dragons. Also I googled toxo-idk forgot to it already- but according to Wikipedia most humans get it once in their lifetime, often without any symptoms. It's really only a risk for pregnant women 🤷
i understand your sadness. I also had a very very lovely cat that died, after that we found a few days old kitten without a mother, unfortunately he also died at the age of 1 month.

@@nadashamyetderelicte4675 (im italian) i said "he" because i did not know how to translate it properly since in italian the neutral is expressed with the male pronoun.
Point to add; most cats understand these behaviors by instinct and can recognize them in humans as well as other cats, so you can flip some of these around to communicate with your cat to a limited degree. A good way to tell your cat that you trust them (and let them know that it's ok for them to trust you) is to look at them while they look at you and then slowly blink, and possibly even turn your attention away from them. This tells them that you don't consider them to be a threat and don't have hostile intent.
Imagine my disappointment when it turned out that my cat shows all of these signs towards me most of the time... I truly love him, feed him, shows him signs of affection in a 'cat manner', I even defended him from my grandmother who hated him and wanted to beat him for every single demerit when he was younger. My heart is kinda broke.
When I was a kid my dad always said this to me.. He calls them unloyal unlike a dog, but I still really love them from the bottom of my heart 😂@@emptythoughts3060
i feel like a lot of this is situational. some cats have play aggression and might not have been around their littermates long enough to learn bite inhibition. the main sign a cat is uncomfortable around you is aggressive vocalization or hiding.
One of my cats was dumped in the snow. He was about 9 weeks old. I fostered him then adopted him. When I go to bed, he will sit and groom me. While grooming he will nibble at me - the same way he does when he grooms himself or one of our other cats. He seems to get a bit carried away and the nibbles become bites. Not painful bites but I do feel them. We don't know how long he was out in the snow for but given he was about 9 weeks old, it was obvious he'd been taken away from his mother and siblings far too young. We got him just before Christmas 3 years ago. The following summer, one of our local rescues got a female, very pregnant cat in. She was identical to my cat and it was obvious they were siblings so some callous person dumped the two kittens to fend for themselves. The cat gave birth to 5 healthy kittens while she was in rescue and I'm happy to say all found good homes - and all were neutered and spayed. She was found close to where my cat was found so I think they were bred by someone who lives in the neighbourhood then dumped because they didn't sell to make money for Christmas. My boy is a much loved member of my family and shame on whoever dumped him and his sister.
Exactly. Like the ears down thing is honestly not always accurate. Mine does it constantly and seriously will follow me to stores for ten blocks and wait for me then follow me home. She also won't stop cuddling and sleeping on my chest. Like constantly. She's weirdly in love lol.
@@metalklown Otto, the one who was found in the snow, I'll be bringing his favourite toy out this week - our 7ft Christmas tree. He's a big cat but somehow manages to climb to the top, knock the star off but has only once knocked the tree over. He'll knock the star off nearly every day until I take the tree down again. His partner in crime, Kira (also a rescue) knocks the baubles off and runs away with them. Last year I managed to take a quick photo of the tree before the cats set about wrecking it (again). Less than 2 minutes 🤣
@@retrogamer2503 We have one like that. She lived rough for at least 4 years and it took her a long time to trust us. She's quite elderly, maybe about 15/16 now and she will come and sit on my lap or my son's lap but it's on her terms only.
My cat is a diva. She doesn't really like most of her toys like she did when she was younger except for the little mice toys. And she will jump on my lap and want me to pet her but if I cough or sneeze too many times she gets mad and wants to rip my face off. So I can't move too much when she's on my lap for fear I might be disturbing her royal highness. 😆
My older kitty used to be this way. She got used to it after a while and I can even move her around and position her in my lap or lift her up and put her there now. My younger kitty is just starting to sit in my lap, and she's quick to learn! Some Cats just figure out how us hoo-mans operate faster than others.
If you ever experience this, you can just sit near them and wait. May take several times to several weeks. But this worked for me with 2 cats saved from death stations. If you add talking with them and repeatably hold your hand towards them, so they can smell your hand if they want, it will speed the process up.
Its been said that dogs are like children and cats are like teenagers. Children love immediate attention and enjoy your presence, as do dogs. But teenagers need space and time alone but they will come to you for affection and reassurance if needed, just like cats. thank you for coming to my ted talk.
I haven't met very many teenagers with hypodermic needles in their mouth and on their hands and feet and willing to pierce your skin with them over and over again just because you walked into a room. Pets aren't people. People really need to stop treating their pets like they are people.
@@michaelmann8800 He didn't say cats "are" teenagers lol. Obviously they're a fully different species, so I don't see why them having claws contradicts the comparison. But the fact that they're moody and sometimes attack for no reason just reinforces that yeah, they're kind of like teenagers lol. Also, what does it mean "treating their pets like they are people"? If you mean dressing them up and doing little cat weddings and whatnot, then yes I agree with you. On the other hand, if you mean trying to understand them emotionally and respect their boundaries, then you should definitely treat them like they are people.
@@elhammo7478 So, then, while telling me he didn't SAY they ARE teenagers, you keep reinforcing this idea that they are very much LIKE teenagers? So for all practical purposes, they ARE teenagers? You are doing nothing but making my point for me. Cats are cats--in this context they are DOMESTICATED PETS--and people should stop trying to treat them as if they are humans. Given how crappy many people are as parents of real kids, the last thing people should be doing is trying to treat a cat as if it is also human.
@@michaelmann8800 Are you ok? Your hostile tone is telling me you're not a cat person lol. Get a grip man, some people like cats and spoil them like a child. Doesn't effect you in the slightest.
Had a maine coon who did all the agression things:stairing, ears flat, puffed up but he did it because he wanted to play rough. I regularly got shredded but he still was never truly angry.
My daughter’s Maine Coon is the same way. It wasn’t actually aggression, it meant it was go time. When he’s done, it’s time for the love fit. Crazy ass cat 😆😆😆
@@popuptarget7386 i hate to say how accurate you are. Its almost kinda weird dude. But youve just proved you had a maine coon, without saying you had a maine coon
My cat was 8 when I got her from the SPCA. I know at that age several things come into play: they have a defined personality, will have defined habits, will assess the situation and pretty much make the best of this new life. My responsibility is good food, clean water, clean litter box, clean home, and providing a safe environment. While my cat is not a cuddler she likes to rub her head on my belly. First day she came home she showed me her belly after a couple of hours. It will be 1 year on January 23, 2024. We are doing fine.
Random fact, just got a cat, found it roaming the streets and it looked like a baby, and it sounded PETRIFIED. Brought it home, and it was litter trained (like, didnt use the bathroom on anything besides the litterbox) seemingly healthy (didnt have worms, problems digesting food, energetic but not too insane lol) and is all-in-all a really good cat, which pleases me since this is my 1st ever cat :D
No no, i said it wrong. didnt take a cat, it was roaming around a pretty empty place, no houses or anything, we were a bit too far from houses for it to have wandered away since it was so small and clean, i personally think it may have been abandoned, we even looked around at houses just to make sure it wasnt just really lost but nobody had seen the cat before
Yeah, evidently cats are born litter-trained. I have seen barely walking kittens stagger out of the nest box, walk over to the litter box, sniff it, crawl in, poop, cover it, then back to mommy. Also, kitten came to neighbors garage sale, was picked up by little girl who thought it was mine and gave it to me. Calm and friendly, so I checked all over the neighborhood. No one knew anything. Still have him, his only fault is a fascination with the faucet water going down the drain. Cats aren't owned, they OWN!
I’m so happy my cat does none of this, she literally follows me everywhere and sleeps next to me every night. She even sits at the table with me and my partner for dinner 😂
My first cat was very cuddly. He did once give me a good chomp when I made him uncomfortable and swished his tail, but that was about it since I backed off for a little bit afterwards. I knew the signs of aggression. And as a result I had a good relationship with.
Lil tip if y’all want a cat when you already have a dog: Don’t unless your dog is calm around other pets, search for cats who were fostered when they were very small by people with dogs, since it’s way harder to get an adult cat used to dogs.
I would usually agree but I have two cats and my mom recently moved in with me & brought her puppy. Neither cat has been around dogs in their life. It’s not even been a few months and their relationships are decent. One plays with him constantly and the other tolerates him. He’s a puppy so he’s high energy and very in their face. It definitely differs on the animal though, I don’t think you specifically need a cat that’s been around dogs, or a dog that’s been around cats. If the dog has history of cat aggression it’s already a no no, but other than that I feel like if you give it time and patience and the right introduction you’ll be all good? No animal cozies up to a new atmosphere/addition immediately, regardless.
@@summerbummerr678 that’s true! It’s pretty common that cats who haven’t been around dogs yet will tolerate or play with them (take my first foster cat for example) but if you want the highest chances of getting them to get along I’d definetely search for a cat who you know tolerates dogs
I've researched that it's also good to either pair up a kitten and an adult dog or a puppy and an adult cat if you already have an adult of either species. something about "babies aren't threatening". I do want a kitty too though! my dog already gets very happy when she sees cats, but they almost always run away from her! :( I'll take it as my cue when I find a tiny kitten up for adoption or a (definitive) stray baby
Except for #2, these apply to my cat. I’ve had my cat, a tuxedo, for more than five years and she STILL acts like a snob! My previous cat, a tortie, was very affectionate. She would let me pick her up, she purred all the time, she would crawl into bed with me in the morning. I had her for nearly sixteen years.
IDK, I've had mixed signals from cats laying on their back. What usually happens to me, if I reach out, it they will grab my hand in their claws, and start licking me to death. I also had one cat that would sit on the floor in front of me, then here pupils would get really big (attack mode anyone?) Then she would launch herself off the floor onto my chest. After that, she would scramble over the back of the couch and race into the kitchen. She expected me to follow her, and if I didn't she would come back and bite my wrist. There was only one time I got injured, and that was by accident. She slipped going over the back of the couch and caught my arm with her back claws trying to keep from falling. We still played tag over the back of a chair with blood dripping down my arm. Yes, she was using me for hunting practice. And no, her bites never were hard enough to break my skin. Her most usual position was sleeping on my scanner, on my face, or on the couch next to me while I played video games. Also, she would go out in the morning when I went to work, and meet me at my front door when I came home from work. One of her favorite things to do was to steel the eggs from the sandwiches my room mate was making. He complained about how she always stole his food, but never mine. I told him, that's because I feed her the same thing I'm eating, so she knows what it is. Also, I kept watch for her antics, while he turned his back on her. Her name was StarFire. Another cat I had got pregnant. A couple weeks before she was due, we went on a tour of my entire house with her exploring every nook and cranny looking for a spot to have her kittens. She eventually chose a box in my bedroom closet. I cleared out all the junk I had there, lined it with 2 hand towels, and she took another look and decided that was her spot. I told my room mate to never shut my door. He didn't listen. When I came home from work about 2 weeks after this she was frantic. I looked at my door, and saw it was closed. I yelled at my room mate saying the cat was due right now, and you shut my door. Her nesting box is there. He looked at me and said "You can't possibly know that!" I said "Watch!" and opened my door. She went racing for the box and started having her kittens. I opened up a can of cat food and put it in the box with her so she would not have to move. About 2 hours later, I was petting the new born kittens. My room mate still could not believe that the cat told me what was going on, even though he had seen it. Her name was Sparkles. Hope you enjoyed this.
My brother's family had a male cat who lived to be over 20 years old. The cat was great by his 'nature' and he formed a mutual trust with me; I let him approach me whenever he felt to and he usually rubbed his head against mine, we even touched each others' noses. He never ever scratched me or bit me in the face. I was once visiting my parents and the cat was also there that day; my father came into the room laughing at some joke and I literally saw the cat's eyes turning completely blood red, it looked like he was ready to kill. I let him have his own space to cool down then and there.
He was too pampered thats all. Like sheltered kids cats act out when others show up and take attention from them. Didnt need space just needed to get over himself lol.
After staying in my home for 2 years, my cat still gets nervous from time to time, always run away whenever I tried to reach him. There are a few spots in home he would feel comfortable to be pet, and would actively approach me or my family members when he feels hungry. Never asked for hugs, and you couldn't hug him for too long. I still don't know if my cat hates me or not, but me and my family is still putting all our love into him. Maybe he was just born that way (a stray cat kinda kidnapped by me), but we have the patience to show him our love.
During Covid, i wanted a Companion, so I went to our Local Pound, Adopted a 6 month old Mistreated Tuxedo Cat, named Poppy, well, at 1st, she hid under my Couch for a Couple of Days!, now, SHE OWNS THE PLACE!, I'm a staff Member of Hers!, that's cool with me!, Cheers.
My cat doesn't do any of this stuff, but when I got him at the shelter he was super anxious and still is. He didn't play with the other cats and always wanted to go hide in the corner. They even told me I can't take him out because he wasn't going to come up to me. It took him about 2-3 months to actually come out of hiding for him to trust me. I would go to wherever he was hiding and pet him so softly for hours. He would get up and start walking around in circles almost investigating me and the situation. After a while, he finally came out of hiding. 2 years later he meows like crazy when I get home and just in general. (He never meowed at the beginning) The only thing he does on this list is bite me, but it only happens when he's laying on me when I'm sleeping and I decide to pet him. I looked it up and it said sometimes cats just don't want to be pet, so whenever I pet him and he starts biting, I stop petting. You have to respect these little creatures, they're so adorable and you want them to love you as much as you love them.
Well, my cats are the complete opposite of this list. They are TOO obsessed with me sometimes. I can't go into a room without them or they freak out. They constantly have to rub on my face and they love laying on my chest while I play my Switch or watch TV. Yay. ❤️
awwe, when i visit my cousin his cat constantly follows me and constantly lies on my chest, one time i had to endure that for 14 hours, plus its not very good for me as im terrified of animals and i stayed up all night in bed making sure she didnt walk in

I enjoy watching videos related to cats, my baby passed away 4 years ago so I been through owning a cat for 23 years (her age).. I never looked at these types of videos while having my angel so its interesting to understand more on what she was feeling all those years based on tendencies. I am dissapointed in myself for not being around much in her last few years, when she needed someone the most.. However, I could never understand why my cat hated my dad so much, he didn't have to do anything to make her that way but from first eyesight she was scared for life.. I can't wrap my head around it to this day... I feared my dad back in the day too but could she have sensed that meeting us both basically on the same day as a kitten?
Yes, cats are very perceptive. I had a cat that always knew if I was upset about anything, he would immediately be by my side if I came into the house feeling angry or upset about something, and if I was swearing, he would swat me a few times...really, it was the coolist thing. I had a lot of respect for him, we had a great friendship.
#9 with rolling on their back... most younger cats do this to play fight. I've had cats that do that and latch onto your arm with claws only to start licking my hand.
@@emo-gu9zn i myself would still count 1y old cat as almost a kitten. Like not exactly grown up but not kitten anymore either. I have one cat that is like 1,5y old and she still sometimes tries to do this but we dont let her much. 😅
I've been around cats my whole life and learned much about cat behavior growing up. So imagine my surprise when my first cat hated me. I still don't know why. I adored her. She was never neglected, teased or abused.....at least by me. She hated my ex much more. But, when she met my husband, she made it a point to show me that she preferred him. Oh well, one of my two cats now is definitely my kitty. She picked me by climbing up my arm and perching on my shoulder when I was choosing a kitten from the litter. She's been my baby ever since. My other cat prefers my husband, but he likes all of us.
I know the feeling... I've always wanted to have a cat but my parents weren't too fond about the ideia.. Eventually they changed their minds and we got a kitten, and surprisingly she prefers my dad or my mom and most of the time ignores me even tho I'm the one feeding and petting her all day xD But that's ok I still love her anyways...
I like cats well enough, but the idea of them not being too fond of y'all when you're the ones doing the most for their well-being doesn't sit right with me. Were you guys the first person your cats met at the time of adoption? If so, there probably shouldn't be a problem with bonding.
When my 2 year old son is awake, the cat behaves very cautiously.... when he's nappimgor asleep though, they either stand guard right by him or come cuddle up next to him and sleep too 💙
The cat knows he's your "kitten". He's a very _big_ kitten, so they have to be careful because he doesn't know how to play safely, but he's still one of the clowder's kittens so they'll be protective of him.
Ever since moving into my room (my cat stayed in the master bathroom when she was a kitten) she refuses to sleep anywhere but my bed at night, on my chest, draped over my side, by my feet, curled up in the bend of my legs, or on top of my extra blankets next to my back, she also rubs her face on me to wake me up, it’s adorable
I remember I adopted 2 cats, female and male, from a friend a few years ago. They were ridden with fleas, but were the cutest things. I cleaned them, got them checked out, etc. The female was very loving. Took easily to anybody that came over. The male was the same but he did not like me at all. He never bit me or anything, but he made sure to never let me touch him and always ran away when I came around him. I kid you not, it took him a whole 2 flipping years before he got comfortable with me. One day he jumped up on the back of my couch and just started playing with my head and started licking me. I didn't know what to do as he never did anything "touching" to me. So I let him do what he wanted and ever since, he loves to lay on my lap and play with me. I never known any pet to be so distant for so long, when you always treated him nicely. Just glad he came around.
@@elastrorey5722 well this is true as far as i know. My cat (m) likes my mother more than me as far as i can tell. He still sleeps near me regularly but he enjoys it much more when hes near her. Idk why but ok.
you can tell a lot about a person whether cats like them or not :) they like gentle souls and can read people very easily. my cat is obsessed with me & follows me everywhere I go. my boyfriend and I got her together when she was a kitten, but for some reason she just chose me as her favorite and became attached. she doesn’t like being picked up, she’s very sassy and everything has to be on her own time. she likes sitting on my chest when i’m laying down, but she will only do it if SHE walks up to me and decided to do it. if I pick her up & try to put her on my chest she will run off, and then come back 5 mins later and sit on my chest, because it was on “her own time” lmfao. she’s such a dork & I love her so much. her name is KeKe & she’s a long haired siberian cat
yeah that one depends if they clamp on to your hand right away every time with teeth and claws then it means no. If they just roll around and cuddle all is good.
7:03 our feral black male cat that we been feeding for years and is very nice when its near our home but if when going to the place where there's more cats and he's there you cant pet him or anything he hisses, or as if says "meow!" (don't touch me) weird, why is that? could it be he doesn't want to be seen as a human pet because there's female cats or something, or territory thing?
I had a cat a number of years ago, who made friends easily with everyone, even people it had never met before... except for my sister! That cat REALLY hated my sister, even going so far as to actually give an unhappy sigh when it heard her coming through the front door. We had that cat from it was a very small kitten, until it died about thirteen years later, and never once did it let the sis even get to pet it. Amazing judge of character, that cat...

I wanted to share this cause it was recent but I went to my moms house after not being there for a few months and as soon as my three cats saw me they all came to me like they missed me. I’ve never seen a cat do that before (these were my first cats I’ve had since kittens) even our rescue was excited to see me. It made me realize they really do like me cause you can’t be sure sometimes with cats lol
What if your cat “hates”you? If you adopt a cat who has not been well socialized and they exhibit these behaviors, you just need to exhibit a lot of patience & kindness. Talk to the cat in a calm voice regularly. Sit near them with out invading their space place a super delicious treat in between you & cat, be chill when/if kitty takes the food. If cat doesn’t come take the treat move treat closer to kitty and yourself further away. Sometimes just sit there doing your work, read, whatever, so kitty can observe you and get used to your natural behaviors. Using a toy that keeps a safe distance between you and the cat can help build trust with younger cats & kittens (from the cats pov). Listening to a cats signals & respecting their boundaries goes a long way when building a relationship with your cat (and humans too lol). Often older cats who have had bad experiences with humans or other animals may only be able to trust you to a certain point. Please don’t take that personally, be happy that they trust you enough to come as far as they have.
What if your cat poops in your bathroom only? Does that still mean he’s uncomfortable around us? Actually we don’t have a litter box we just keep him outside during the night so he can do his buisness then.. but we always find it in our bathroom such as the floor or bathtub, only when we accidentally leave him in the house overnight
I hope that ppl will not take the title literally and will watch and listen carefully. I don't want anyone to feel any kind of negative way towards their cat(s). Ppl must be patient & sensitive to their cats and their moods & physical state of being, such as stress or a health issue, & work with them & when in doubt & when necessary seek out a veterinarian's assistance. 😁
My cat only avoided me once i got put on a ventilator. I didn't fault her for it because the machine is noisy. But her last day of life she wasn't scared, and died in my arms. She loved me all along but the machines noise scared her to much.
Love this and completely agree. I've had cats my whole life and rescued so many, and they all have very different, distinct, and obvious personalities. They are also easily traumatized, which can affect their personality permanently, much like humans. Respect and love your kitties for who and what they are, and don't try to form them into what you want them to be. As someone else on here said, "they're not dogs"
Whenever I would pick up,hug and pet my cat she had subtle way of telling me she had enough. She would gently lick my hand and then wait if she wasn't on the ground in less than a 10 seconds by then she would then full on bite my hand to get the message across.
I have thin one cat who gets spooked incredibly easily, but she is always happy to see us (unless you move too quick, then she runs) and loves snacks from the breakfast table and demands her pets regularly. But she is super nervous, has been the last 12 years. Than again, sometimes just the noise of heavyer rain on the roof (no storm, mind you) will send her hiding and crying, so I guess it ist just how she is. When she is not scared though, she is a lovely, cuddly, sweet girl.
Also if you wanted to teach your cat to like being carried always take it somewhere fun like a hiding spot or its food bowl, it'll learn to associate carrying with a reward so they're much easier to handle just place it at the top of some cupboard to start
As far as biting, it does seem like it's a trust issue with my cat. She's incredibly smart and I'm her favorite human, but there are times she'll bite lightly.
SUCH A DISHEARTENING VIDEO. Cats are like humans in that they have different personalities, moods and gestures to show LOVE, CARING and APPRECIATION. From love bites to mean bites, consider YOUR actions towards your cat and see where YOU may need some work. CATS ARE EXTREMELY INTUITIVE! 🐈
It sounds like your cat loves you. The video doesn't do a good job explaining. 1) Ears plastered back is an angry or threatened cat. Gently back or off to the sides is relaxed & content. 2) You really have to read all the body language to get a clear picture. 3) Purring is most often done by a content kitty, but never by an angry kitty. Sometimes it is used by cats as a self-soothing measure. Purring also has healing qualities for both the cat & those around it.
@@lauraw.5015 I know he loves me. Got me wrapped around his little claw he does. He decides where to sleep and I have to pretend I’m a cat and contort my body around him. He’s very dominant.
What a nice relief to know that my cat does none of these things to me. Well, she is a B***h sometimes and can be moody 🙄 but she definitely shows me love and even calls for me when I leave the room and close a door to the room I'm in. Especially follows me everywhere. It's so cute to leave the door cracked while I shower and when I get out I see her sitting comfortably on the toilet seat waiting for me to get out ❤.
Ours has started just howling to go out where she previously would lay down and chill and sleep for hours. Now, all the sudden, she paces from door to door, and whenever she comes in, howls and complains until someone lets her out. She will follow you all around the house thinking you will let her out. To clarify, she's a stray that adopted us. Fixed and was catch and release in my neighborhood. We've had her going on 5 years and it took almost that long for her to become comfortable indoors enough to sleep. She would come in after my children went to school and sleep during the day. She has food water and so on. She gets good low ash food and is treated for parasites often. She appears to be at least 6 or 7 from her teeth and is a lovey kitty. She adores scritches and purrs whenever she comes up to me.
Just watch their ears and attitude, most need space and you need to be calm around them. Each have their own personalities and moods. Had a kitten of mine hsss at me for getting spooked by themself and I happened to be nearby so stared at for 2 half seconds and preceeded to run a few feet away in embarrassment then came back to me. Lmao
This makes me feel so much better. My tuxedo cat is so skittish and runs away from me but when I sit down she comes and lays beside me on the couch and sleeps. And she sleeps on my bed at night. And she also has a shaky tail when I’m around. So I’m pretty happy I think my kitties like me 😍
@@MisterMikeTexas how do u even know that? They don’t talk to people. A cat doesn’t work. It’s a pet. The way they communicate is through body language. When my cat comes to me purring wanting me to pet her I believe that’s appreciation enough. You sound very bitter and angry.
Purring doesn’t mean it’s happy, cats purr when they’re under extreme stress or even when they’re dying. Purring is a soothing thing, it can be done under pleasure or stress
@@ateyaba7253 yeah, but some cats legit puff their tail when they're happy. Mine does that too when I'm petting her, and she'll always keep on nudging me for more while purring.
Please be aware that in English disinterest does NOT mean lack of interest ( as used in hour video.) A disinterested party is not one showing lack of interest but one which does not take sides in a dispute. A football referee does not lack interest in the way the way the game is played but should be neutral in his decision making and therefore disinterested in the result.
According to google you are both right and completely wrong. Google’s definition: dis·in·ter·est /disˈint(ə)rəst/ noun 1.the state of not being influenced by personal involvement in something; impartiality. "I do not claim any scholarly disinterest with this book" Similar: impartiality neutrality objectivity 2.lack of interest in something. "he chided Dennis for his disinterest in anything that is not his own idea" Similar: indifference lack of interest I don’t think I’ve ever heard disinterest used as as synonym of impartiality or neutrality before, so I’m glad I searched it up instead of straight up telling you you’re wrong.
I'm the one who've always wanted to get a cat in my house, everyone were always super against it. Eventually we finally adopted a kitten, except that she obviously prefers my parents over me, even tho I'm the one feeding, petting and playing with her most of the time. But that's ok I still love her anyways...
This part! Everyone was against the pet except me and then we eventually got one and surprisingly she likes my mom more and my mom didn’t even want a pet. But she’s still not use to her new home because she’s worried she might have to move again because she used to be a foster cat
Idk why I watched this, my cat literally won't even stay in a different room than me. He follows me around and never shows any sign of being uncomfortable around me.l and is incredibly emotionally attached to me. I've actually never had a cat be uncomfortable around me, they always seek me out.
This was interesting but I do have a cat that is always nervous and doesn't like to be around me. She let's me pet her for a moment when she wants to. So what do you do to get your kitty to be more comfortable?
@@mahmoods2134 Thank you so much for your help. It's so weird like it's just her personality bc I rescued her and her brother at the same time, aprox 6wks old and he's not like her at all. Play with her more often and have a little treat around. Also if you stick your hand out and let her come to you that will kinda start showing when she’s more comfortable
The best way to get a cat and a dog to get along is always to intrude the cat to the dog when they’re about 6-12 weeks old, since that’s when they’re the least scared of things for some reason
Well...this won’t happen if you keep cats according to cuddliness level. I kept 3 kittens from different litters my 2 original cats had and they are OBSESSED with me. One is my little spoon, he loves to cuddle with me being the big spoon
defenitly seeing the cat doing the number 8, its usualy when it have been some loud noices earlier, like when my dad was playing his instrument or someone had been using the vacum cleaner. then they would normaly get one of those looks from the cat
Haha that’s cute, sometimes when you keep little kittens from the day they’re born, you’ll notice that they wag their tail when they play with their siblings. It’s really funny ngl
@@jennytimelord9689 I think these less common "wags" (which I've never heard of described officially) are very apparent by the "owner" that it is a friendly show of affection. It is really a slower version of a dog's wag. An agitated cat will thrash it's tail (move in a back & forth motion), which is what one is told is the sign of a cat who is "not happy" (like when they are overstimulated from petting). But, it is clear from the behavior that follows (biting, swatting, hissing, &/or running away) that it is miffed. Anyway, that's my interpretation on this cute behavior only a few of us have witnessed. I hope it's been helpful. ☺️
im scared to see this video i hope my cat does none of these lol
I understand that. I don't have a cat yet, so there's noone who would hate me.

Hello Cherry how’s the weather over there
I’ve literally tried to slow blink at my cat to let him know I love him ever since I read that it’s a good thing😅 hopefully he got my message

I learnt the slow blink from a cat. I used to do it back before I ever heard about them liking it 😂
Imagine my disappointment when it turned out that my cat shows all of these signs towards me most of the time... I truly love him, feed him, shows him signs of affection in a 'cat manner', I even defended him from my grandmother who hated him and wanted to beat him for every single demerit when he was younger. Man that absolutely sucks...
i feel like a lot of this is situational. some cats have play aggression and might not have been around their littermates long enough to learn bite inhibition. the main sign a cat is uncomfortable around you is aggressive vocalization or hiding.
Mine does hide from me a lot, and tries to avoid getting picked up, but at the same time, will start purring if you pet her for a minute or two.
She's quite elderly, maybe about 15/16 now and she will come and sit on my lap or my son's lap but it's on her terms only.
my cat: sits on my shoulders, head butts my face, circles my legs purring, licks my face
Also Me: oh my god what if my cat hates me
My cat is a diva. 😆
💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣 yesss girl. When my cat used to sleep with me when I got up to use the bathroom she would get very disturbed and leave me lol.
Get her new toys?
My older kitty used to be this way. She got used to it after a while and I can even move her around and position her in my lap or lift her up and put her there now. My younger kitty is just starting to sit in my lap, and she's quick to learn! Some Cats just figure out how us hoo-mans operate faster than others.
cats rule the house 😂
Just wow
If you ever experience this, you can just sit near them and wait. May take several times to several weeks. But this worked for me with 2 cats saved from death stations.
If you add talking with them and repeatably hold your hand towards them, so they can smell your hand if they want, it will speed the process up.
Thank you so much i need this so much 😭😭😭
Its been said that dogs are like children and cats are like teenagers.
Idk my cat is like a toddler. In a good way lol but also in a "Don't do that!" kind of way hahaha but yeah she acts more like a dog for sure

That sounds like it belongs to someone tbh
So you stole a cat?
No no, i said it wrong. didnt take a cat, it was roaming around a pretty empty place, no houses or anything, we were a bit too far from houses for it to have wandered away since it was so small and clean, i personally think it may have been abandoned, we even looked around at houses just to make sure it wasnt just really lost but nobody had seen the cat before
@@stxrrychloee3814 check for chip. Take to vet. It could still be someone’s cat. Even if so, thanks for taking it in!! You’re a great person.

My first cat was very cuddly. He did once give me a good chomp when I made him uncomfortable and swished his tail, but that was about it since I backed off for a little bit afterwards. I knew the signs of aggression. And as a result I had a good relationship with.
And that is surely EVERY cat am I right?
Neat
Lil tip if y’all want a cat when you already have a dog:
Don’t unless your dog is calm around other pets, search for cats who were fostered when they were very small by people with dogs, since it’s way harder to get an adult cat used to dogs.
My dog raised my 3 week only kitten. It was nice to see him grooming him.
@@sarina3081 aw that’s cute! Where’d you find the kitten?
Except for #2, these apply to my cat. I’ve had my cat, a tuxedo, for more than five years and she STILL acts like a snob! My previous cat, a tortie, was very affectionate. She would let me pick her up, she purred all the time, she would crawl into bed with me in the morning. I had her for nearly sixteen years.
torties are normally the snobby cats lol, your cats switched personalities !
I try to give my cat space when he flattens his ears, but he just chases me.
I literally had to get a clothes basket and block him from attacking 😂😂😂
I had a cat that loved his belly to be rubbed. He was a very sweet big cat with a gentle soul. He did trusted me in the belly rubs on top of my belly.
My Cat The Same For 4 Years, We Got Her When She Was A Kittie

Yay. ❤️

Is that normal for 1 ish year olds? My cat does this everytime I walk down to the basement and meows 💀
@@emo-gu9zn i myself would still count 1y old cat as almost a kitten. Like not exactly grown up but not kitten anymore either. I have one cat that is like 1,5y old and she still sometimes tries to do this but we dont let her much. 😅
@@Halipatsuinen Haha yeah. I always say she's a toddler 😂
Eventually they changed their minds and we got a kitten, and surprisingly she prefers my dad or my mom and most of the time ignores me even tho I'm the one feeding and petting her all day xD
But that's ok I still love her anyways...

I like cats well enough, but the idea of them not being too fond of y'all when you're the ones doing the most for their well-being doesn't sit right with me. Were you guys the first person your cats met at the time of adoption? If so, there probably shouldn't be a problem with bonding.
When my 2 year old son is awake, the cat behaves very cautiously.... when he's nappimgor asleep though, they either stand guard right by him or come cuddle up next to him and sleep too 💙
Toooo freaking cute.
same with my cat and my niece (also 2). the cat will run from her all day but when she falls asleep she’s the first one to cuddle with her
The cat knows he's your "kitten".

Yes, that's a sweet cat, love her for all the time you're together.
Congrats on ur cats

my cat once got mad at me, so i just left and went to sleep in my room. few minutes later, woke up to loud purring and my cat was asleep on my chest.
I'm not am expert, but don't cats usually only show their belly's to people they can trust, since the belly is such a vulnerable area?
you can tell a lot about a person whether cats like them or not :) they like gentle souls and can read people very easily. my cat is obsessed with me & follows me everywhere I go. my boyfriend and I got her together when she was a kitten, but for some reason she just chose me as her favorite and became attached. she doesn’t like being picked up, she’s very sassy and everything has to be on her own time. she likes sitting on my chest when i’m laying down, but she will only do it if SHE walks up to me and decided to do it. if I pick her up & try to put her on my chest she will run off, and then come back 5 mins later and sit on my chest, because it was on “her own time” lmfao. she’s such a dork & I love her so much. her name is KeKe & she’s a long haired siberian cat
Cats are useless creatures
Un-conditional Love, it works wonders.
The one with on their back had me dying cause I thought they were vulnerable so its a sign of trust lol
yeah that one depends if they clamp on to your hand right away every time with teeth and claws then it means no. If they just roll around and cuddle all is good.
My cat knows how to trick my dad into feeding him an unhealthy amount of food, so he is always unnaturally nice to him for food.🤣

**Cat owner gives cat treats and food**

Mine gets his feelings hurt when I don't invest in him ther way he likes 😅

Finally after those 8 minutes I’m happy 😂🥲
My cat won’t leave my side and cries when left alone
My cat doesn’t hate me nor like me. She just tolerates me
I have thin one cat who gets spooked incredibly easily, but she is always happy to see us (unless you move too quick, then she runs) and loves snacks from the breakfast table and demands her pets regularly.
This video is unintentionally hilarious LOL. Good info!

So what’s it mean when my cat crawls on my chest, practically nose to nose with his ears slightly back, but still purring?
It sounds like your cat loves you. The video doesn't do a good job explaining. 1) Ears plastered back is an angry or threatened cat. Gently back or off to the sides is relaxed & content. 2) You really have to read all the body language to get a clear picture. 3) Purring is most often done by a content kitty, but never by an angry kitty. Sometimes it is used by cats as a self-soothing measure. Purring also has healing qualities for both the cat & those around it.

I’m confused ! One of my cat have mixed signals, I can’t decide if he loves or hates me 😭
Well if the rest like u he probably does
Just watch their ears and attitude, most need space and you need to be calm around them. Each have their own personalities and moods. @@MisterMikeTexas how do u even know that? They don’t talk to people. A cat doesn’t work. It’s a pet. The way they communicate is through body language. When my cat comes to me purring wanting me to pet her I believe that’s appreciation enough. You sound very bitter and angry.

Google’s definition:
dis·in·ter·est
/disˈint(ə)rəst/
noun
1.the state of not being influenced by personal involvement in something; impartiality.
"I do not claim any scholarly disinterest with this book"
Similar: impartiality neutrality objectivity
2.lack of interest in something.
"he chided Dennis for his disinterest in anything that is not his own idea"
Similar: indifference lack of interest
I don’t think I’ve ever heard disinterest used as as synonym of impartiality or neutrality before, so I’m glad I searched it up instead of straight up telling you you’re wrong.
