    So true about license doesnt mean skilled in everything. My current stylist MESSED up my hair so badly with relaxers. That was one of the reason why I went natural in the first place. My hair started breaking like crazy and I lost all density and length. Either my hair didn't like the relaxer she was using, it was too strong, or she didnt know what she was doing. my old stylist use a very mild one + bi-eekly protein treatments...I miss her, she moved to another part of the country 😥. I tried to get the current one to do the same, but she wouldnt!!!!
    Anyway, I've been seeing her for 7 years now...stopped relaxing my hair for almost 2....now she's trying to get me to color my hair. I will NEVER allow her to put another chemical in my hair EVER 🤣.

      I feel you! I only ever relaxed @ home w/2 mirrors. Every time I went to a stylist it was a DISASTER, over cutting, not listening 2 what I wanted,etc...
      I had my girls over 1 time & they were like OMG u flying through that like a professional! ALWAYS sectioned, did my crown 1st, then worked through roots only. Only pulled it a lil past the roots for the last few min(like 5). I NEVER did my ends. Protein treatments at least 1x monthly & I always deep conditioned after shampooing(still do the same things as a natural).
      It kept my hair silky, healthy, strong & down to my bottom!
      I've been natural for almost a decade &I'd NEVER go back! I haven't straightened my hair for 6yrs, but I also do that by myself.

      You had twice a week protein treatments? That's a lot. Too much protein can make your hair dried out and brittle and it may not be apparent right away. Relaxing already can be drying to your hair. Did she balance wit deep conditioning treatments?

    I sooo do not miss getting the relaxing process. That cold feeling of the creamy crack on my head while at the same time my scalp is heating up🤯 My hair is very dense, fine strand 4c hair. A few hairdressers that I went to would opt to use the relaxer for coarse hair instead of the mild and timing the process. I personally prefer to have my hair based before the relaxer. Loved watching this though.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    This is crazy. If your client is telling you her scalp is burning, please DO NOT make her sit there. Wash it out immediately. Also you should never relax down to the ends of the hair that was already relaxed. Ladies having healthy hair is more important than having straight hair. Please beware of stylist who use these techniques. I've been there and done that only to find that my hair continued to thin out until I went 100% natural. Now my hair is extremely thick and gorgeous.

    you need a base before you start relaxing you’re supposed to base the scalp first I’m from Detroit Michigan that way they don’t burn and if they burn you supposed to clear the perm off that area and spray some oil hair oil but she didn’t protect her scalp at all and I seen that perm on the right side and I was like that’s gonna burn from experience 35 years of hairstyles from Detroit to Florida

    This was a pleasure to watch. This was almost EXACTLY the way my stylist relaxed my hair in the late eighties early nineties. I got a touch up and trim EVERY eight weeks. She also conditioned/ deep conditioned on a schedule. Finally, she refused to give me a permanent color because my hair is very soft. She told me I had to choose between a relaxer and color. I colored my hair ONE time (It broke off badly) I did what I was told after that. My hair went from a pixie cut to almost to my bra! This video shows that good technique is timeless.
    I’ve been natural since the late 90’s. I went natural because I moved across the country and couldn’t find a stylist that didn’t over process my hair! So now I have Locs.

    Years ago back in the nineteen eighties when i was about 9 or 10 years old, my mom got sick and couldn't do my hair . So my aunt - her sister who was a licensed beautician told her that she could perm my hair with no problem. My mom said ok. My aunt did my hair. She put the perm in my hair and then had me sit under the dryer because as she said my hair was course and needed to be softened up. My mom didn't know any better at the time . This kept happening for a while. But it wasn't before long my hair started shedding big time. My mom talked to someone else about it and they told her that my aunt was not supposed to put me under the dryer with perm in my hair. My mom stopped me from going to her.

      @@lisaforbes7325 yep after that we started doing home perms to. Lets just say i learned a lot from that to. Since ive been watching these videos on UA-cam about hair and perms and breakage i found out that i should've been at least giving myself protein treatments once my hair started breaking off after my aunt did it. Plus I've been natural before. In my twenties i got so frustrated with my hair i had my mom shave it off 3 times. So far ive shaved my hair off about 5 or 6 times over the years since ive been grown. Last year my head started burning ( tingling) and itching. So i just figured it needed washing. I started to wet my hair and it started coming out in droves. I stopped what i was doing and got the scissors and clippers and cut all my hair off again and then washed it. So far its growing slowly. But my crown is still a problem for me.

    Hi, my name is Ginger and I'm from Akron, Ohio. I have 2 questions, How often should you put a texterizer in within a year? Also can I straighten a texterizer out like you do a regular perm and put a curling iron curls in? I also like your information your giving people on how to take care of your hair. Take care😊

    She looks like she does a great job, but I've been relaxing my own hair since forever lol. It's to my waist. It's fine to relax your own hair, it's not hard. You just have to be thorough. I part my hair in four sections and start at the crown and the back part, as she said. Watch your time, take your time, make sure you rinse completely, and you're good.🎉 Also IMO, relaxed hair is so much easier to take care of, and healthy hair gets longer faster, because you don't have to constantly chop it.😊

    I absolutely love the energy and banter you always have in your shop! I really wish I lived closer!!!
    OAN I mentioned on another video how I’m battling excessive shedding 😢 I’ve had blood work done to eliminate any unknown medical issues, thyroid problems, and/or anything that would cause hair loss. It’s not that or any side effects from any medications I’m taking. I’m seriously at a loss 🥺 I know it’s not breakage because each strand has the root bulb still attached….yes I’ve become THAT obsessive that I actually check my shed hairs 😂😂. I guess I should be happy it’s not breaking but I don’t know what to do.
    My UA-cam profile picture with all that hair was from January 2022 and at this point it had just started shedding.
    Shit….I lost my brows too 😂🥹 it was at the point I just shaved the few little hairs I had left. I wasn’t as heartbroken over the brows like I am over my hair. Shit I just ordered a few sheets of the brow tattoo stickers (think those tattoos we used to get in Cracker Jack boxes that you used to apply with water?) and they look AMAZING.
    Anyway, back to the hair issues…..I feel like I’ve lost damn near 1/2 of the thickness/density I use to have and I’m really trying to hold on to what’s left 😣😖😫🥺 I trim regularly and I protective style meaning I usually part my hair down the middle and wear 2 low braids or I’ll wear those same braids up higher and wrap them around in buns. I try to keep my hands out my hair and I oil my scalp 2-3 times a week with an oil I mix. I mix avocado, argan, rosehip and grape seed carrier oils with peppermint, rosemary, frankincense, eucalyptus, clove and tea tree essential oils. Only a few drops of each into a 2oz bottle.
    I KNOW this is a lot of info but I wanted to include alllllll the details 😂
    Haaaaaalllp please

    To the lady with scarring alopecia, try PRP treatments. It’s painful and expensive but its definitely helped me. I was considering a hair transp;lantern but now the areas are somuch fuller that I’m considering a relaxer again.

    THANK YOU for saying we can wash our hair every day or every other day!!!!! My fellow african american people in my life gasp at me when I tell them I wash my hair 2x a week (eventhough im a personal care chemist)!!!! Thats the best way to get moisture in your hair...and I don't mean from the water, water isn't moisture...I mean the application of the conditioner(s). They aren't meant to condition the hair for long periods of time. They only last 2 days if your lucky.

    • @naeloveslove8690
      @naeloveslove8690 2 роки тому

      Who wants to do that twice a week,especially if you go to a stylist,that's a waste of money and time consuming

    • @ziolp
      @ziolp 2 роки тому

      ...but moisture comes from water,
      and did you mean to say conditioning elements from the conditioner? Because it's also liquid base (containing water). The added ingredients make the hair feel soft and smooth.
      also what's your hair porosity? it wont last more than two days if your cuticles are open vs low porosity hair (some low porosity folks can last up to a week).
      just got a lot of questions lol

    This is the 3rd video I've watched back-to-back today. Now that's straight. I love the fact that you thoroughly rinsed her hair out. My hair is thick, but I don't remember my hair being rinsed like that. Also I learned that it's good to put a conditioner on before shampooing. Back in the day they rinsed, used the neutralizing shampoo then conditioned. I am natural now and have been for years. The way people wear their hair is their choice and not anyone else's. As strange as it may sound, I enjoy taking care of my natural hair more than I did when it was permed even though it takes much more time. Most of the time our scalp burn is because we try to keep it on longer. When it's burning we say, "It's OK" when deep down it's not. I'm going to try your hair washing method to wash my natural hair. Perfect timing when you told the guy you don't do men, the woman on TV was wiping away her tears. That 2nd hair washing looked so good it was putting me to sleep. KEEP UP TGE GREAT WORK! 😁👍🏽

    When you tell stylist what to do they have a problem with you. I know plenty about my hair because my old stylist taught us everything so I truly listened and asked plenty questions over the 13 years she was my stylist. She since retired from being a stylist and I miss her soooo much because alot of stylist don't know nothing. I purchased my relaxer, protein treatment, and moisturizing treatment which are excellent name brands and she used before on my hair. I find that most stylist are inexperienced and old fashioned which is bad for the customers.
