sorry but nope (unless i'm not following your logic). draw a picture and prove it for yourself. to get to 78.4 with a stock crank you use a technique that involves welding additional metal to the outer 1/2 circumference of the stock rod journal. it can be done but it's not as simple as offset grinding a stock 69 crank.
@redshirt-scotty I wouldn't think it would. But I always try to understand the embellishments of the VW community. Even in the car club I'm in you'll have the rinse and repeat crowd. From oil filters to carburetor types. The carburetor is particularly interesting. When I told everyone In the group what I was gonna run, some with that same setup said they wouldn't idle in traffic. And now I get asked how I did it with mine. But none of them wanna go to the videos I watched to make mine work the way it does. And only because the videos are not VW-related. Kinda interesting how that works out.
@redshirt-scotty like the valve rotation, I completely offended some when I said that's ridiculous. My GM 350, 283, Ford 300, and Honda 3.2 didn't say anything about that. But somehow the Volkswagens I own need it. And some get outright upset. I've never seen anything like it. But it can be a fun few minutes if you read the room first. 😉
ah yes, stuff like that! that's probably the worst of the lot hehe. that must be why i have so few subs. i offend so many vw people who want to attend vw church. including the young crowd like tuned tunas. incidentally, i haven't gotten a thumbs down on my last 11 vids (literally, it's 11) until this, number 12, 78.4 vid. 1 down, 4 up for this one so far. alright mr. critic, what did i get wrong? the joker didn't leave a comment.
Would incorporating the .040 for rod bearings in that offset, get you to 78.4 with the chevy journal?
