best of 2024's fishing outings

Clinton lake mostly. I usually don't post WIFA outings in my monthly updates since most of the WIFA properties are way outside Douglas county but I have included the best fish from those outings. Despite the generally poor fishing in the lake this fall, I did manage to score a few nice fish and reptiles.

this was the suckiest fall fishing season since i started making these vids. weather was mostly nice and i caught some fish but it's not about catching some fish. it's about catching lots of fish! november is included too.

pretty slow month. i usually pick up a few more largies but they didn't show up. one crappie? that's pretty bad. a few walleye scattered throughout the month but none were bigens. always nice to go for a walk along the shoreline when the weather is good (bad fishing or good).

sorry about some of the sound quality. quick summary: offset grinding is NOT why this strange stroke exists. some takeaways from the discussion: do the math (rule #2), beware of the white haired old farts (rule #1).

how to properly vent the type 1 case (to avoid blowing oil past the pulley) and why. it's the why that separates my vids from the other vids out there. summary: don't vent your valve covers. unnecessary, counterproductive and it's a great way for the parts houses to grab a few $$$ from the naïve and the newbs.

too hot to camp so 4 nights in hotels. the high point walk took about 4.5 hours on a hot day. we also did a 4.25 hour walk in tallgrass. we stopped briefly at big basin prairie preserve which didn't have any bison. we briefly visited clark count state park and fishing lake which is very scenic. some of the drive on the gypsum hill scenic byway was very scenic. we also drove the flint hills scen...

includes last day of the spring white bass spawn in rock creek. picked up my first ever blue catfish. species featured are large and small mouth bass, bluegill, green sunfish, walleye, white bass, wiper, channel and blue catfish, drum, black and white crappie.

may 21 and may 27. i made a small ignition timing change but other than that, just a couple of nice days for a drive and an adventure out in the grass. empi header is holding up so far. one of the trips netted 28.7 mpg. thumbnail is a view looking south from the highest hill in the park.

just my usual 220 mile round trip to tallgrass national preserve outside cottonwood falls and strong city. super nice day for a drive and hike. it was cool enough on the way home that i was glad i have heat. empi ss header is working fine so far.

i always expect to catch some 2 pound white bass this time of year but only caught one. picked up a nice wiper. first channel cat of the year. always manage to land a few crappie during their spawning time but the boat people always do better with them. north america's largest rodent makes an appearance. if you're local and it's still early may, the white bass spawn may still be on at rock cree...
