There's something else - blue channel on early digital cameras from the 90ies and early 2000s was super noisy, it was easy for the bluescreen to poke holes into your blacks. There has to be a simple physical reason for why the film didn't have this issue, i suppose, but i can't figure it out.
That's not the reason the screen switched from blue to green. It's because the Bayer filter dedicates half the sensors to green and 25% each to red and blue. So there's more resolution in green to play with.
The CLOCK GAME on "The Price Is Right" had a blue chroma key for the contestant's subject for the first 31 years. Then in 2003, they changed its colour to green.
