    Wow, if only I had known some seeds can take months to crack. I've given up on so many thinking they were duds. Thanks for the video. I've got two cracking now. I'm excited.

    • @Sky-vh6fp
      @Sky-vh6fp 5 років тому

      I've learned that these indoor seedlings we sprout should not be put in direct sunlight. They haven't conditioned themselves to it. You are supposed to put them in the shade for some time and start conditioning them slowly so they can better accustom themselves to the harsh sunlight. I'm not sure about the time frame or climate conditions for any areas, but maybe google...."Conditioning indoor seedlings to outdoor sun". I'm thinking that may get you some necessary info. I do what you do. I think maybe some real sunshine will help and it just shocks the plants and burns the tiny leaves. It's super disappointing! Good luck! I'm in Vegas so it's already an issue with the sun for already established plants.

    How long from planting should you expect to see fruit production?

    • @Imad_Harb

      I think it takes at least 5 years, but if you graft it you can see fruits within couple years or less

    • @snrnsjd
      @snrnsjd 5 років тому

      4 years only if you're grafted it and you know how to take care of it. If you don't you can wait 8, 10 ,20 or more years .

    So many unanswered questions! The cracked ones, do you plant those or toss them? When do you plant them? Direct sunlight?

    • @Genchie192
      @Genchie192 5 років тому +1

      The cracked ones you can plant. When I saw them cracked it had a little bit of roots coming out already. I burried the seeds half way with soil in a plastic planter pot and I checked on them two weeks ago seems it has grown a foot already. I think I planted it in the pot on June. But it took a while for them to crack but with a little patience the time will fly by fast. 😊😊😊😊 Happy planting.

    Thanks for this. Trying to grow multiple seeds to better my odds was taking a lot of room with the toothpick method. I can also see how this my simulate the more natural way the seed grow, if their was a rainy season and the ground was swampy or boggy but drain a bit in later seasons. Please post more videos. :)
    I want to experiment with growing it with a beta fish or gold fish due to my region and ants. Do you know any one who has aqua farmed or hydroponically grown avocado trees?

    I'm new to avacado plants. My son knocked down my cup of water n the pit split in half so I stuck it back together with toothpicks and now it has sprouted in total 1 month time. I'll try directly in soil next.

    Fuerte sprouts easily & quickly. Its seed is already split open once the fruit ripens. However The two halves of Hass seeds are tightly packed. They take long time to split. In fact you will find that the roots emerge much earlier even before there any sign of a shoot emerging OR the the tow parts start splitting. It is suggested that the top 1/4th of the seed be sliced off so as to allow the shoot to emerge earlier. I have tried this. It works. There is no damage to the seed in doing so. Try it.

    • @alexdavis7664
      @alexdavis7664 5 років тому

      This is something I've come across with the Hass seeds as well. They have taken almost 2 months to show any signs and only the roots are starting to come out. No sign of a shoot anywhere in sight.

    Mine has cracked in a week! Was it too fast? I would like to keep it in the water for a few more days so that I can be sure and see the nib. Would that be ok or am I going to kill it? I tried before and it didn’t crack even after a month (it was huge, huge one) so I gave up and this one cracked within a week so now I am confused! Any suggestions please?

      I've noticed if the avacado is really ripe (even starting to rot) it process is faster. Some are already cracked and have 2 or 3 roots growing in the fruit
