I know some people didn't like how samey the games felt, but ironically that's what made me really enjoy NSMBU Deluxe (base + Luigi). After playing only the Wii game for the longest time, I saw gameplay of U and because of how familiar it looked, I picked it up on the Switch. It gave me similar vibes to the Wii game, and I mean that in the best way possible. Games that gives me the same fun and feel but I don't have to replay the Wii game for the 50th time. It was the kind of game I couldn't put down because of how addictive and fun it was
I always found it funny how people complain and say that the games feel/look the exact same, yet the same people 5 seconds later could go on and on about how they love Galaxy 2, despite feeling like a watered down version of 1 with the same artstyle, and then they'll say they want a Galaxy 3. Like... what? You're okay with them milking Galaxy yet you draw the line at a NSMB sequel? Okay, makes sense
@jesse4437 That's not true. Galaxy 2 at least wast has new levels, power-ups, Yoshi, new mechanics & other features that didn't felt like your playing Galaxy 1 again. Yes. The gameplay is similar. But the layouts & worlds are very different. That's what made Galaxy 2 as good; if not, better than Galaxy 1. New Super Mario Bros Wii-U are exactly the same because of the worlds & structure of the games are the same. Don't only thing it adds anything new is the power-ups & co-op. But everything else is still the same. It lacks motivation & originality.
People always complain about “more of the same”, but I agree. If it’s fun, wouldn’t “more of the same be good??” Like you said, so you don’t have to keep replaying the same old levels
@Dr.Frasier_Crane If it's nothing NEW like the name of the title was listed and everything is still the same as it was before without being different, than no! It's not always gonna end up good. It can be repetitive & boring pretty quickly.
Mario U's final boss is amazing because up until this point you've never fought giant bowser directly, he was either chasing you or in the background trying to attack. Seeing him fly up and land directly in front of mario was crazy.
Blue shell talking :P the blue shell is one of the things that always surprised me with people online, with how many people dislike ( or at least find it less than preferable ) at least. i love the blue shell as a power up, because running and turning into a moving shell with the ability to jump is a lot of fun to change the way you go around levels, and while admittedly it can be a less than ideal power up for some spots, like if you just need to run a little ways and end up in the shell, its a bit annoying, but the shell can quite easily be exited while youre in it if you just jump and let go of run i believe (or let go of jump, i forget which) being able to avoid enemy damage, swim faster, and moving in the shell itself is just fun to me, it just has a learning curve. its ok if you dont like the shell, but i just feel "poorly executed" isnt how id describe it, more so a bit misunderstood, a bit flawed, but a fun item to get to use when you get the hang of it.
Something I feel like not enough people talk about when it comes to the NSMB series is the movement. No platformer beats it. That’s largely thanks to it (at least originally) based off of super Mario 64, which in its own is a testament to how well that games movement holds up. Wonders movement was descent especially with the badges but it’s not as fluid and responsive as the new super games. If you haven’t played in a but and you’re wondering what I’m talking about look up any NSMB TAS video or speed run. Its special tech is pretty dope as well but I’m still learning it. PS: I’m now a 6 month member!!!
The movements in NSMB are cool & all. But that's all it has going for. Wonder's movements has the exact same fluid & responsive as NSMB series has. It just Wonder does all of that much better than anything NSMB offers. Especially when it comes to originality, new features like the badges & other things and the level designs that surpasses it.
From the company that claims they don't like reusing the same idea repeatedly over successive games pump out the same idea repeatedly over successive games.
I was born in 2005, the first nsmb came out in 2006, and even until now I’m almost 20 years old they’re still going with nsmb wonder, this series was literally my childhood and my life.
I find it funny this video feels like something we have seen before with a slight few changes, like the New super mario bros series. Like was that joke on purpose cause if so thats pretty good 😂😂
I just remembered something random. In my first play through of NSMB Wii when I was a kid, the outlines of W6 and W8 convinced me for some reason that W6 was going to be volcano themed and W8 was going to be candy themed. There was no rationale, but I was genuinely surprised when I got to 6 and it was a mountain.
The Original NSMB was amazing but the Wii NSMB has to be my favourite I use to play it with my dad and I remember beating bowser and me and him celebrating.. Memories
Because I didn't see it brought up at all during your Luigi U segment, I thought it would be fun to point out that despite you saying the timer is 100 seconds in the stages, it's actually not. The urgency of having a lower timer is what adds tension to the game, but in actuality, the seconds that count down are SLOWER than the Seconds in Mario U, by something like an extra .7 of a second being added to the Luigi U seconds, making the 100 Second timer a total on-screen lie. While you DEFINITELY have more than 100 seconds to complete the levels, the timer IS massively shortened from the usual few minutes you typically get. Just- not to 100 seconds, lol
DS is the only New Super Mario Bros game I liked the most because it has way more simple, yet solid design, doesn't overstate it's welcome when adding things like co-op or gold coins that doesn't do anything special and it was new than the others.
I think the movement of the blue shell is the entire point, because instead of standing still you should challenge yourself to complete a level without doing so, mario has always been the speedrunning type off game. And its like the opposite of the big mushrooom which is too over powered in my opinion but at least there is something for both playstyles. Anyways they should bring the blue shell back exactly like it was in the first new super mario bros game.
I dont know if its just me, but I think Wii looks better than U. U is in HD, so its in a high quality. But wii to me looks brighter and more colorfull. While U looks darker and plastic-like, I dont know how to explain it.
New Super Mario Bros. DS - Super Mario Bros. 5 New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Super Mario Bros. 6 New Super Mario Bros. 2 - Super Mario Bros. 7 New Super Mario Bros. U - Super Mario Bros. 8 Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Super Mario Bros. 9

Eh. It doesn't beat Wii's or 2's final boss IMO.
I LOVE the blue shell power up. Easily the best addition to the series

I would really love seeing more kingdoms explored in future 2D games. I especially wanna see Sarassaland return

NSMB on the ds was my first mario game growing up as a 6 year old.
Video idea: Is Mario and Luigi Brothership really that bad?
These were some of the first games I ever played, and they hold a special place in my heart.💖🙂🙏
1:21:14 This is cool but you can totally do this with Mario
Is this reuplaod???
shoutout NSMB, gotta be one of my favorite franchises
My faivoirite one IS Wii because of The duficulty and worlds
DS is the only good NSMB game. The rest aren't bad. But nowhere near as good.
The minigames in NSMB are really addictive but the main game is not really worth playing through nowadays.
A whole 1 hour video about soup 🍜
