It’s crazy how zeus went from a unmatched S tier god in hades 1 to possibly being the worst god so far in Hades 2, Hephaestus at least has funny bing bong and mint condition
@@phiphi2209 Zeus is actually S-tier for high fear and really scales well on itself just like in Hades I, it’s just in regular play his synergies with other gods aren’t as good. Scorch + air quality kinda op though

@@2admie this comment I relate to perfectly, all though I played hundreds of hours for hades 1, hades 2 felt so difficult when first starting out. So Demeters freeze saved me so many times when I didn’t have specific arcana cards or ones upgraded
It's good for early runs because it counters the inability to stunlock armored enemies, but falls off in later runs from low base damage on her core boons.
Yeah, one of Icarus' more powerful upgrades (Supply Chain which gives a small max health boost and 3 levels across random boons every 5 encounters) is effectively useless at the moment because you're unlikely to even have enough remaining encounters to trigger it more than once, if at all. Once the surface is complete, assuming there's not a major nerf once they see it in practice, you essentially have Eurydice's Pom Porridge every 5 encounters for 2.5 biomes worth of gameplay. Shrines of Hermes in the rift have the same issue - one doesn't usually pop up until the back half of the biome, and you have no definite way of proving you have enough encounters to ensure you didn't just wait 70-150 gold on a boon or health upgrade that won't spawn until after the Eris fight.
One thing about hera that disappoints me is that she gains strength the more enemies have the hitch curse but supergiant changed both boons that helped spreading hitch, the sprint and the cast and i wish they added more ways to spread hitch
exactly!!! unless im going torches hitch seems a bit underwhelming, especially compared to the rama bow that the effect is based on. also i miss the lil green tethers shooting across the screen when enemies spawned
i think hera should be able to allow you to summon ally creeps so you can apply hitch to your ally, hit your ally and it spreads damage to the enemy. her attack boons feel really bad because you can't use her hitch on single targets. Her link damage design is cool but needs better support or something.
The problem was that with the old cast (or even the new cast if you augment it with the "on casting cast" boon), suddenly all the screen is hitched and you can almost instagib entire encounters (which is not a bad thing, but it's kinda a bit too powerful). Sure, when pushing fear its really nice, but for the typical runs, the players in fear up to oh, let's say 10, they could semi-afk the entire run if they got a single good ability and an entire screen full of hitch.
@@PhilipAlexanderHassialis oh no i agree it was too strong as it was but i wish a second tier boon of her could help spread the hitch, like killing enemies in the cast could spread the hitch to a certain number of enemies for example
I really think they should've kept her sprint boon as the same "hitched enemy spreads hitch to +x enemies", I don't really care about the on contact damage that much, and the new sprint makes it way more annoying to actually use her mechanics and apply hitch
It's kinda funny how your skill at the game can influence the perception of a boon. Me, who's pretty bad at the game, thinks that for example soot sprint is the best defensive boon in the entire game. I always go for that no matter what. I hate poseidons attack boons because I usually play slow weapons like axe and staff. I really like hestias attack boon because I can apply damage and then run. Her duo with aphro is my favorite duo boon because I can run around and dodge while the damage keeps ticking. I really like in how many ways you can play this game.
lmao thiss!! Hades 1 was me not being able to complete a run if I don't have Athenas dash, goal was to escape damage, leave a bunch of effects and run.
fellow axe player here!! i have found that pos attack has SOME value on default mel axe just as a way to keep enemies from swarming me on higher fear or on the surface where encounter rooms tend to be smaller on average. but yeah, 30 damage when im already doing 90 per attack base feels pretty bad
I second this. I definitely agreed with most of his rankings, but Hestia's boons with the torches are soooo powerful. Absolutely the strongest god for torches in my opinion. And I thought he was going to say Soot Sprint is the strongest sprint boon, since it fills a similar role as deflecting dash.
Most legendaries honestly feel like massive amounts of effort for a meme boon, with few exceptions. Like, Fire Walk sounds like a boon that only exists for players who have an irrational (albeit perhaps not entirely unjustified) hatred of the oil slicks in the Rift of Thessaly.
Slippery slope should do more than a boring damage bonus. Maybe make enemies hit by backsplash get knocked further back too? Dont get the sense of "slippery" from the boon Love the base mechanics in this game a lot, but IMO the duos and legendaries need a lot of work. Just don't get very excited to see them, they don't feel impactful unless I really planned to make it work.
I fully agree. Supergiant shouldn’t be afraid to make the legendary and duo boons quite strong and to get ‘wacky’ with them. Maybe Cherished Heirloom should allow you to immediately equip a second keepsake for the run. This would allow for a lot of new strategies and it would be really fun to find out what the best combination of keepsakes is. Where Hades 1 and 2 shine imo is when they allow you to radically change your playstyle with specific builds.
@@Combustiblelemon-gu8zo Ahhh that change would be soo cool. Fully agree on the wackiness, the best part of rouge likes imo is being able to get combinations that are game breaking. I don't think hades needs to be like isaac where you end up crashing your own game, but supergiant does seem to be too worried about power creep in a single player game.
I think something worth note with heph is that his core boons are nice to grab if you have a button you arent clicking much in your build. You mentioned how going all in on him requires rarity and poms which is very true but he also works as just a button you fill for say pan daggers attack or than axe special. Its nice to just be able to do a big burst of damage in a large aoe whenever you need, and since the rest of his boons are mostly solid defensive options I really love having him in the pool on most runs
the thing is, zeus is better for filling in damage. Blitz has no cooldown and at high rarity's it is same as herph blast for primary boon. Most of special don't really use hephasta boon. dagger is main one that gets most value because it can melee then cancel into a dagger throw. it is also because dagger doesn't use blitz that well. I also believe critical hit from Artemis dagger works with his boons. this also stacks with Artmis cast boon where enemies in circle gain +13% critical at like blue rariy. So your very very likely to crit his special for big damage.
I hope whenever the games story progresses and we free everyone from Chronos's clutches we can get Persephone's boons too. SG's creativity on agricultural boons sounds intriguing
I guess Icarus, Medea and Circe are more godly than Daddy Dearest, since the latter didn't make the cut. 🤔 There's no way Dan just _forgot_ the guy the game's named after... right? 😅
While yeah, it's funny that he forgot daddy, but to be fair i don't know if it is even possible to go through tartarus without an option to get his boon so it's literally no downside, free help against the final boss only. In my case I found most of his boon useless anyway, small burst in 1st phase which you don't worry about, bonus dmg after you die is only useful when you need a bailout, going dark is dogwater, you get a crit or two max in a fight. Cast is useful pretty much only for range builds, on melee I refer the consistency. The boon to which I always gravitate is the reinforcement one, cuts out the stuff you need to worry about especially in the 2nd phase when a lot is going on on the screen.
Honestly it's kind of weird to me that Icarus, Medea, and Circe are even on this list, moreso than Hades being off of it. Feels like the mid-run encounters should have their own tier list since they're so separate from most of the Olympians. The closest thing you get to a direct connection or synergy is Haephy letting you keep Arachne's dresses if you're lucky on both the timing and boon selection, or Narcissus' 'Legendary' gift helping infusions along. With Artemis and Hermes you can at least argue that A) they've been counted as Olympians since the first game and B) they can still synergize with the others, even if they don't have the same duo/legendary mechanics, but the rest feel like their own thing.
Sun worshipper has a fun interraction with nasty comeback where the summon does count for it so Chronos can hit his little sand buddie when he is on your side and deal up to 999000 damage
As a daggers enthusiast, the best way to use Scalding Vapor is with Aspect of Pan: Put Poseidon on Special, Hestia on Cast, Hestia on Sprint -> get hook knives/concentrated flurry -> Scalding Vapor -> full circles of steam combustion as you reapply scorch via cast and slip via the daggers special. It's fun, super safe and time grandpa just gets melted
I feel like the power gap between Aphro and everyone else is crazy big. All of my best builds and best runs seem to revolve around her. Specifically, Lim and Oros + Aphro + Daedalus Upgrade for Special, turns your Omega Special into a nuclear powered shotgun.
I feel like another interesting tier list would be high (32+) fear god rankings. Hephaestus stands out for this - he's so essential on higher heats he's pretty required vs being pretty mid/bad on lower heats
As someone who spent about 2 years playing on the first Hades, and now 150+h on H2, one thing I noticed about H2 is that compared to the first episode, there seem to have no specific synergies built in yet between the gods. I mean, in H1, there were some very specific trio boons (duo boons between 3 gods) that were particularly synergetic between each other (thinking about Artemis/Aphro/Dionysos, or the triple A's : Athena/Aphro/Artemis, or Zeus/Poseidon/Dionysos). Somehow, I feel like H2 still lacks these kind of trio tag teams between their duo boons (with maybe the exception of Aphro/Apollo/Heph, with their Hearthrobs machine gun build, or maybe Zeus/Demeter/Heph with Hail storm and room temperature, basically letting you applying Hail Storm non stop. But so far, so little). We'd need some more of these. But it's all good, we're still on Early access, and this period is precisely to fine tune all these kind of things.
I'll be real I've gotten an insane amount of use out of exactly chain lightning from Zeus, so while most of his boons suck that one alone has boosted my game by such an insane amount.
My opinion on Hermes swings wildly from like S to C based on the average reward i had to take from my last 3 encounters with him, because I'm reactive and dumb.
While I agree...but then heph would actually be extremely overpowered...like S+. (I disagree with haelian which is fine. I consider heph to be S tier through patch 4.) You would be doing like 800+ points of damage easily. Combine that artemis marked and/or with white antler (with mint condition and/or trusty shield) and you're putting up big damage numbers.
cling clang disbeliever, burn him!!! 😤 cool tierlist, even though i have a lot of hours in the game its always nice to get some more opinions to make you consider trying for some new builds
I think perfect image is going to become a better boon (or perceived as a better boon) as people get better and more practiced at the game to avoid damage better. It could use a damage buff, maybe, but I like it personally.
I would rework furnace blast for Haeph to make him an exciting and fun choice. Instead of "vent" - a lame a debuff that encourages you NOT to use your blasts, I would make it a stacking a blast damage debuff with a short timer. Like every time you blast something, it gets a stacking 20% blast damage taken debuff for 4 seconds. That way you are horny for blasting, and it makes things like the double blast duo boon an awesome synergy. I would also give him a revenge a blast boon. And instead of his lame +1 weapon legendary, I'd do one of a combination of the following: lower blast cooldowns, increased radius, inherits a % of damage from attack/cast/special boons for scaling, or even give him a shield on blast to encourage vengeance blasting
I once made a build focused on Nasty Comback, Hera’s taking damage boon. I remember I got the percentage up to like 3000% with a shit ton of poms. I would use my attack to inflict hitch on as many enemies as possible, then just let myself get hit and watch all enemies disappear. That was super fun.
I'm at 25 fear and I really don't like Zeus in this game. He was my favorite in Hades 1 but here it just takes a lot of effort to get blitz going. For world 1 Zeus is basically useless as 120 damage kills most enemies. So it feels like nothing is on your attack / special. When blitz does indeed get going, the damage is too low to even really notice. I almost always rely on other gods for my actual damage dealing tools.
Zeus is a great supplementary god. Air Quality and Hail Storm are very helpful for the Freezer Burn torch build, although Blitz is underwhelming that's for sure.
For Heph, I'd like to see his attack and special boons function like Seismic Hammer, which can be stacked on top of another god's cast boon and shows a cooldown. I would feel much better about taking Heph's attack or special if they added the cooldown blast effect to whatever you've already got going on. That would also synergize with Spiteful Strength, as you'd still get the increased damage from not having a boon on your "regular" strikes.
Glamour gain + Poseidon-Aphrodite duo (so all enemies are counted as nearby) + Nervous Wreck combo is some great stuff. Every enemy has weak and 3 other random curses, just cause. I find it a very strong support option that can easily carry a run that would be really bad without it.
@@ruxbon 1. I know this, and he mentioned it in the video anyway. 2. It's still great because a) weak is permanent so you have 50% to origination all the time b) the effects make clearing enemies a breeze, especially so because of origination card being so good. It would be gamebreaking if all enemies would have weak and 3 curses permanently.
@@sebastianzarek7056as I said in my initial comment, the problem lies in longer encounters, applying curses isn't as practical when compared to the previous game, imo, so until you get that second curse, you have 0% dmg bonus from origination. I also don't imagine this interaction would be gamegreaking if it kept reapplying curses once the ones already on enemies expired, tbh. I mean, getting a legendary takes time and effort and the same applies to duos, even if you try your best to get them, there's a good chance you won't. plus, most of the curses don't do much, anyway. ppl keep complaining abt how most duos/legendaries are weak, so either they start getting better or we'll be stuck with what we have, the hard part is probably coding that interaction, I suppose.
@@ruxbon Tbf I think duos are much stronger and more fun than in Hades, and legendaries are also a bit stronger and more unique. And I don't know what do you mean by curses being weak now. Curses in Hades II are insanity compared to Hades. There's no bad curse, all of them do a good job. Not to mention origination is now stronger than status from hades because of cards being stronger. About coding, I think it could easily be fixed by making that weak have a duration, let's say 3 seconds, and just making it apply weak constantly.
Zeus really doesn't feel good in most cases, unfortunately, unless you're going all-in on his cast. Getting Blitz on your main strikes makes it feel like you have no boon at all, most of the time. You could argue that adding it on a secondary button you're not focusing on could be a nice bonus to your main source of damage (like some people use Hephaestus), but since you'd want to keep reapplying it it takes more effort than it's worth for not even as much damage as you could get from other effects. It's sometimes kinda fun to use in niche builds (it was kinda cool to use it when I got that Dash Attack+Special hammer for the daggers, for example), but overall, you kinda never want it. It also doesn't help that Air Quality affects like 2 things in the entire game, it feels like. So combined with all the other tier-2 boons that focus on lightning effects, it really feels like you should avoid him completely unless you go for the cast.
re: Spiteful Strength, i've found myself missing underworld customs often and this would be another reason. If you got this boon, had underworld customs, and had another biome left it might be an easy choice to take it. hope they bring some of those pacts of punishment back!
@@bensimon8234 totally agree, I pick his keepsake almost always whenever I get the boons/duo/legendary I want somewhat early. Armor and invulnerability are awesome, and like you said, the free high dmg burst is fantastic for attack/special only builds
For Hera's Legendary, I honestly think they should really lean into her Priming with Born Gain, maybe she provides more damage and defence the more magic that's been Primed. I think that would open up a lot of interesting builds and playstyles and her Legendary would work with the Prime boons that every god except Apollo provides!
Nervous wreck should maybe be more like, "If you hit a foe aflliced by weak, apply X number of random curses." Exactly how many curses it should apply depends on balance. Imagine applying a cast for weak and then getting freeze, scorch, and blitz on your next hit. Just about any other boons you have which buff those curses now synergize. It's not predictable, but you will reliably stun and get off a large chunk of damage.
daggers, zeus attack, ring and lance, then pick up as many Hera duos and kings ransom them. Clear 30+ just auto attacking without sweating. If you wanna complete fear quests on a weapon you don't like just get lance and ring and again try to give up as many Hera boons with kings ransom. zeus ring will clear it for you no problem. Wouldn't work on like 40+ because you will have to give up too many boons.
Personally, I find that Zeus absolutely mauls enemies when you use the Zoraphet (axe), especially with the hammer that lets you hit twice with your final strike. Will let you trigger lightning nearly every time you hit, sometimes applying it more than once before the attack ends. The chain lightning is great on nearly all weapons, and you can make all those lightning effects potentially hit twice. For me, Zeue belongs in B, maybe low A tier.
i tried axe 1 with it. it is not good because attackspeed is too low but an interesting gimmick i found during the run is that Dash-attack double strike hammer is actually good with that axe aspect because you can double hit to proc lightning then proc it in the same strike. it becomes budget big chop hammer with no recovery. Could be abusable if you buy a lot of hera boons and then get duo boon to power-level primary attack. Dash attack-> 1 normal attack is also alright for blitz proc. Wouldn't recommend playing axe like this though.
It's so funny origination is basically the main factor splitting the list of the main gods. All the top ones have good origination applications, all the bottom ones have impractical ones
It's kind of funny how reserved some of the sprint boons are compared to Zagreus', "My Athena makes me invincible just so long as I'm dashing . . . which is all the time because I can do it thrice in a row."
I haven't even watched the video yet, but holy shit you managed to probably piss off a lot of Poseidon fans (and some who cling to the bried era when Hera was OP outside of Born Gain). Already 10/10 and I haven't even hit play yet xD Anyway, see how much I get right blind: S+: Chaos. S: Aphrodite (usally start with her keepsake with melee), Poseidon (Same for ranged, though I may go Demeter or Hera) A: Demeter, Hera, Apollo B: Hestia C:... sadly my favourite god, Hepaestus (his attack/special/cast are all so bad, but his utility boons are top tier... they just don't define a build), Zeus (Blitz is literally a strictly worse Doom from H1, and he donesn't really have any utility either, though his magic gain is a lot better than it used to be)
I think heph is underrated. Not good as an offensive god, but as defensive god pushing high fears I think he is extremely valuable in saving you a lot of life. Mint condition, trusty shield. I try to include heph in my god pull almost on every high fear run. Maybe I am just bad at dodging.
I definitely disagree with a lot of things but thats the point of a tierlist ahah. Really liked the fact that you showed all Boons to help us remember what everything does
kinda weird to see Artemis in S, her boons are not that amazing imo, but since she only has 7 boons to offer, there's a good chance you'll get at least a very good one offered. still, I'd probably put her in A tier instead now, kinda working the opposite way, I think Hestia could be A tier. unless you're running a build around cast, hers is always a good option to fill core boons and it can be a reliable origination proc along with Demeter's Gale Force and you can play around her duos, that you agree are good, I even think Hot Flash is good, too, despite how hard it is to apply Weak. she's not often as good as other gods can be on the Attacks/Specials boons department, but you know... Scorch good. other than that, I think I mostly agree with this tier list. rly happy to see Aphrodite in S, btw, I think her boons are really good, really sad that her attacks/specials don't apply weak in this game, but considering how much she already buffs them, maybe she'd be too strong.
Heph in C is crazy :D His 2 defensive boons are simply amazing and needed for high level fears imo. I would rate him S just because of this 2 boons lol
Yep. Getting trusty shield + mint condition makes the game much easier. Heroic mint condition is 14 (or 15?) seconds and can be repeatedly upgraded. Most non-guardian/boss encounters can be completed in that time. Even epic mint condition is 12 seconds.
i think the olympian tier list is pretty accurate, but i find myself ending up with demeter on my runs more often than apollo or even hera. also hestia scorch requiring you go into it fully isnt really true *imo*. i usually just take scorch ring for origination and it ends up doing a good chunk of dmg even as my only source of scorch it ends up pretty high on chart at the end. honestly this fully depends on play style, i dont like omega cast but love normal cast, especially gale force+scorch. also i miss hades 1 arty, in hades 2 a) feels like i dont see her much b)even when i get her, her boons dont feel that great, c)you only see her once i feel like we should get more crit chance options, its a fun mechanic also side note, i hope they make aphro legendary work with glam gain+ poseidon duo (maybe give it like 10 seconds cooldown?)
So Aphrodite magic gain is actually great now that all nearby enemies are weak. Because you'll be using it with melee builds where you want to be close, you'll basically have 100% uptime on the mana regen, which is a substantial amount.
It's not a terrible boon, but kinda struggles to find a home. For heavy magick builds the regen simply isn't enough, in low magick builds you'd take Unseen and not worry about a gain, and in no mana builds you'll disable your huntress by regenerating mana.
Hestia and Apollo’s duo should be something to do with like fireworks or flash bombs. I feel like that would make much more sense and also just be way better than the current duo
Switch demeter's gain to giving mana back per second for each cursed enemy. Simples. That fixes her gain from being totally useless to having a decent niche.
I dont like heph at all, but that just might be my personal preference. I think zeus needs to be changed, the discharge is just not interesting or strong enough to build around for me. The hades 1 zeus was almost too strong, especially on fast hitting weapons. I think changing his curse to work like curse of longing did. You could have 3 seconds to apply stacks to an enemy and after that for each stack a lightning bolt comes down, of course the damage would be adjusted from what it is now. It just feels weird to use it. I didnt understand how to trigger the lightning at all when I started the game.
My problem with Zeus is that for so many enemies, they die before they take any damage from Blitz. Alternately, if you're moving around a lot, you might apply blitz but not be able to do anything with it. But it's not like the damage is so exceptional it makes up for it by being a boss killer. It just never feels like there's a good use for it, based on that mechanic.
Looking through comments, I have thought of a potentially effective blitz rework. Lemme know what w think: Once you initially apply blitz, you have 2-3 seconds to apply as much damage as you can. Once the time ends, blitz deals a varying percentage of that damage you dealt. That percentage would be the thing you’d pom. How’s that sound?
@@Mr_Sting It still suffers from the same problem that it ends up being useless against most enemies and better against bosses, which isn't the end of the world. But the thing I think we're all missing--correct me if I'm wrong--was how fun Zeus bouncing lightning was when you had a fast weapon. It worked (too) well against rooms full of enemies, and that was fun. It worked well against bosses, too, since almost all of them had adds in the room. This form of blitz doesn't scale with weapon speed/damage, you just get a little bonus damage if you're *already* doing lots of damage. Weak enemies die before it does anything, and bosses don't take enough. At least your solution scales up against bosses, but I'd still probably choose something else. Aphrodite, Hestia and Demeter will almost always feel AND scale better.
@@drawbyyourselve Definitely Hephaestus' is the bottom. I'd even prefer it if it applied the damage randomly in a way that averaged out to once every 16s at the base level, because at least then every once in a while you'd get two back-to-back explosions that would feel awesome, and it would feel good to pom it and get some rare but broken-awesome damage bursts.
Sunshine is definitely an auxiliary god, all his boons feel like hammers, I honestly don't think he should take up slots except for the sprint and the mana Regen

im so glad that zeus is mid in this game. i was so tired of feeling obligated to pick him up every run! and the devs have left him in a much more interesting spot coming in to hades ii. his boons come off as 'greedy,' in that you have to devote a lot of slots in your build to his boons if you want to maximize their power. but, when you do, it feels great! especially if you have easy ways to proc static shock. hes a god who asks a lot of you, which feels thematically appropriate as The Patriach of The Family :3 i do think that blitz needs some work, though. seeing him pop up in oceanus for the first time in place of a god you actually want to build can feel pretty bad

@@utq1 I don't know what to say. medea is one of the free rooms on the surface in ephyra. After patch 3, I didn't see medea on the surface for around 20 consecutive runs (which might have been a bug) but I saw her again when SgG released patch 4. But 240+ runs? That seems like a bug in your game. I would F10 and report that to SgG. That's not normal. If you haven't seen medea, that means you're also missing one of the keepsakes - the blackened fleece (which is one of the better keepsakes in the game).
Are you sure about Soot sprint being bad? It lets you skip entire bullet hell rooms for free which lets you focus more on dealing more damage undisturbed
Honestly, I kinda wish there was a boon shop that could appear in certain areas like the healing pools where you could sell off certain boons that don’t really benefit you; plus it would make Spiteful Strength a bit easier to use. Maybe a character could sometimes show up at Charon’s shop and you can sell to them? I know we have Hestia but 9 times out of 10 she usually asks for a boon that I don’t want to get rid of.
What I'm really hearing is that Hades 2 god boons simply suck. Nothing ever makes you feel powerful or is visually arresting. It's a big step down from the fantastically designed boons of H1.
I'm gonna keep saying it, but I'd really like to see more Dash-specific boons like in Hades 1! There's plenty of Sprint ones, but I'd like to see more effects like Weak tied to Dash (maybe Blitz like you suggested).
You can apply the effects of your sprint boons by using only your dash. They are just not advertised like that in the text description. As an example there is no difference between Hades 1 passion dash and Hades 2 passion rush.
I'm partial to hephaestus sprint builds which can help gamers or moderate skill cheese the game even up to very high fear (40+ fear). While his sprint doesn't automatically inflict curse (vent), his furnace blast support boon does and makes him very strong.
I haven't really tested this out myself but I gotta ask: does Winter Harvest still work on bosses like it did in the first game? Cause if so that makes Shocking Loss totally irrelevant lmao
Yeah I mostly focused the list around just having strong runs at relatively low Fear (like 16 or less imo). At the end of the day, my channel is here to help new players more than anything so catering a tier list to 32+ Fear doesn't really make sense for me I think.
Is glamour gain really that bad? I found it very useful on the daggers where magick consumption is not that high, and a passive magick gain means one less thing to care about… or maybe im just sucks at the game idk
It's usable, but the amount of magick regeneration is quite low and not as fast as the better ones like Hera and Apollo. Even Zeus is better. As a result, it is rarely used in magick-heavy cast/omega builds. Glamour Gain is primarily used to apply Weak for damage amplification.
S-tier: Hestia A-tier: Demeter, Hephaetitus,Hera B-tier: Appolo,Aphrodite,Zeus C-tier: Poseidon, Hestia has strongest attack boon in the game, it applies curse and when picking Origination, you get +50% damage for free. Pyre technique is also good even without Slowcooker. Demeter: Has strongest cast boon in the game, freezing enemies can save you a TON of damage. Her slowcooker boon is best offensive in the game for every weapon except for skull. Weed killer is good. Hephaetitus: Mint condition and Trusty shield are best defensive boons in the game. extremely useful for high fear. Arguably the best support/3rd god to acquire. Hera: Has best mana boon in the game, Elemental infusion is crazy strong. Bloodline can be good in most builds. Hitch is very good effect even now. Her cast boon that inflict hitch is also strong if combo is acquired, it is just more expensive than pre-nerf. She is contender for 3/4th god slot after obvious Hestia+Demeter combination. The other god boons are irrelevant/not important. They're good fillers and can work on certain weapons but you don't need them. Poseidon was probably A-tier when golden rule was good for raw damage builds but he is now the worst god as he has no good support boon, bad attack boons, bad mana and his resource boons entirely relied on golden rule to be good. Hestia steam duo boon is situational.
@@Weraptor To be fair, so many builds are viable in some capacity that I feel every god is B-Tier at the lowest. @@calliope-greii he's never BIS for any build in current patch. You actively want to avoid him. He was BIS slot pre born gain patch/pre hestia buffs for golden rule. He had strong synergy with Hera Born gain and Appolo's legendary/double hit hammers.
@@dodang_9147 I see your point. However, you can still make an extremely solid build on, for example, Pan blades with Poseidon on the special and going for King Tide.
I really enjoy Hades 2, but the boons are no where near the quality of Hades 1. Not saying that all the boons in 1 are great, because there are definitely some stinkers, but rather I feel like the quality and build potential was much more enjoyable. Duo boons and legendaries in 1 were almost essential while most of them in 2 I couldn't care less about.
Woah...wait...hephaestus listed as a "C" tier??? Under poseidon who is rated a B?!?!? I strongly disagree. I'm definitely surprised by your ranking Haelian. I have hestia and hephaestus as the only S-tier olympians through patch 4. Mint condition or trusty shield alone makes hephaestus super strong. Having both is hilarious. And aphro's high damage percentages are a bit of a fool's gold since they only work on close enemies. Thanks to hephaestus sprint build, every build is viable on very high fear (40+ fear) even for average gamers if they learn how to time his sprint explosion and apply it efficiently against the spawning enemies. I would've had hera as a S-tier but SgG quickly nerfed engagement ring. Dammit!
Blitz is just lame in general, visually meh, not enough damage, meh synergy, I wish they would just bring back the arcing lightning it looked so cool and actually made you feel like you were just BLITZing through an encounter. Now it's just sad
Fixed Gain (Heph magick regen) rework idea: restore (50/60/70/80%) of your missing HP as magick every 1 second so if have 200 max HP and are currently at 100 HP, you're missing 100 HP, so you restore 50/60/70/80 magick per second. Fixed Gain is so bad because it gives you a limited pool of magick to work with like Born Gain, but unlike Born which clears your primed magick for a fresh start every room it's tied to your HP, so you have a limited pool of magick which carries over room to room. if you take a bunch of damage in a previous room, you loose access to magick on future rooms because that HP doesn't come back, and damage taken at full magick is wasted because you can't overfill your magick meter. this rework keeps the premise of "gain magick by taking damage", but in a way that allows access to an unlimited magick stock (which is how every other gain except born works) and doesn't allow you to screw yourself on future rooms by messing up on an unrelated previous room. it also encourages an exciting risk reward playstyle, since allowing yourself to remain at low HP without healing also allows you to spam omega attacks aggressively as an alternative rework, scale your magick regen off of total damage taken (same running damage total that Blackend Fleece tracks), so you can slowly charge up a really powerful magick regen over the course of an entire run without forcing players not to heal
It's funny how my choices are almost a mirror of yours. It'd go something like S- Heph, Demeter, Hera A- Aphro, Zeus, Hestia B- Apollo, Hermes C- Poseidon (This is from a 50 fear perspective)
you look up the gods in your encyclopedia (press C usually) and then press I for boon info. before you can see it you need to unlock an enchantment from the cauldron though called Insight into Offerings, the prerequisite for which is gifting every god at least one nectar
Nah that's not really how this game works, the "difference" between S and C tier is really not that much but visually it looks like a lot because of the tier list format.. Also my rankings are far from indicative of the game's balance.
Ranking Chaos, Hermes, Artemis, Icarus, Momus, Circe, Hades, etc. doesn't really make any sense. Since they always only add to your build, they can only rationally be S-tier since you don't have to pick and choose between them when stacking against the pool.
this is in fact, a god-tier list

God-tier god tier list
It’s crazy how zeus went from a unmatched S tier god in hades 1 to possibly being the worst god so far in Hades 2, Hephaestus at least has funny bing bong and mint condition
@@phiphi2209 Zeus is actually S-tier for high fear and really scales well on itself just like in Hades I, it’s just in regular play his synergies with other gods aren’t as good.
Scorch + air quality kinda op though
@@gameygame6300 Storm ring is possibly the best cast as of now but that's kinda it. You can't really count on getting multiples of him or even air quality. Blitz bad unless Aphrodite duo. Chain lighting much better especially with Heph duo (high fear)
@@WeraptorNot only is master conductor not even very good, it is actively harmful at high fear since it is still bugged to strip away your lovers cards. Static shock alone is top tier
Zeus is very good overall for high fear
Blitz is solid on quite a few aspects, storm ring is amazing, AQ is decent, hail storm is amazing and double strike is a great secondary
@@Foolish_S0 lol i didnt make the connection between having master conductor and not having an acorn
I don't think the difference between the "best" and the "worst" god in this game is really all that much.
Demeter's cast is new Athena's dash as a newbie winning boon IMO. And her whole kit is very helpful when learning the game.
This. Demeter with the axe is the first combo that can allow a new player actually dive deep into the underworld.
It's no surprise that Aphrodite is considered S tier. I think she takes the same place as Artemis in 1. Great self-synergy and plays well with others.
as is befitting of the goddess of love, lust and the naughties :D
I see Circe and Icarus being better value once the next surface biome comes along
100%
Greetings from the future. Our next two surface allies are Athena and Dionysus and yes, they are great! Divine dash is back!!!
Would be cool if Glamour Gain regenerated more Magick based on how many enemies are close to you
I think it should scale with how many enemies have Weak applied to them, it would really buff the pos/aphro duo
I thought the same and was going to leave a comment until I saw this lol
Not a bad idea imo
I thought that was the case, actually. But yeah, if not yet, then absolutely.
Slippery slope should do more than a boring damage bonus. Maybe make enemies hit by backsplash get knocked further back too? Dont get the sense of "slippery" from the boon
Love the base mechanics in this game a lot, but IMO the duos and legendaries need a lot of work.
Indeed, Poseidon and Aphrodite's "% damage boost" legendary are practical but boring.
Yeah I think it would be cool if slip made foes move slower or something that affected their movement since they are supposed to be slipping
Agreed, especially since we didn’t get to experience them in Hades 1.
I guess Icarus, Medea and Circe are more godly than Daddy Dearest, since the latter didn't make the cut. 🤔
There's no way Dan just _forgot_ the guy the game's named after... right?
I have to try this 😂
As a daggers enthusiast, the best way to use Scalding Vapor is with Aspect of Pan:
Put Poseidon on Special, Hestia on Cast, Hestia on Sprint -> get hook knives/concentrated flurry -> Scalding Vapor -> full circles of steam combustion as you reapply scorch via cast and slip via the daggers special.
I agree another tier list would be needed to discuss 32+ Fear.
Maybe Heph/Hestia/Apollo? (Chain Reaction & Rude Awakening) but that's all I can think of.
I feel like heph’s blasts should just inherently apply vent and that would make them a lot better
My Aphrodite - S tier! The world is right!
cling clang disbeliever, burn him!!! 😤
cool tierlist, even though i have a lot of hours in the game its always nice to get some more opinions to make you consider trying for some new builds
Increased range (radius) was the previous legendary, and is now a regular boon in believe.
@@Mr_Sting Fair enough, but you have to admit a stacking blast damage debuff would be way better than what vent is currently.
@@MoonlightHorizon-ev7ev True enough, the current one favours some aspects more than others right now.
@@Mr_Sting If you could change Haeph to make him more fun or interesting what would you do?
@@MoonlightHorizon-ev7evwell, I believe you already mentioned a revenge boon. That. That’d be great 😂
I once made a build focused on Nasty Comback, Hera’s taking damage boon.
I find it a very strong support option that can easily carry a run that would be really bad without it.
no
if you don't refresh weak, Aphrodite's legendary doesn't apply new curses, making it useless, that combo is rly bad on longer encounters
Another Artemis and Aphrodite sweep, the best goddesses no diffing their entire pantheon :) [Hermes can chill too I guess]
Having Blitz is like "you've heard of doing a lot of damage right now, but what about doing a bit more damage way later?"
I like hef if I'm using something that basically only uses an attack. you special or something 12 seconds purely for a big burst of damage
@dodang_9147 try Thanatos aspect. It's my favorite, and it slays with Zeus
It's so funny origination is basically the main factor splitting the list of the main gods. All the top ones have good origination applications, all the bottom ones have impractical ones
Dude get hestias cast with Demeter cyclone cast effect and then the duo with them both and it sooo good
It's kind of funny how reserved some of the sprint boons are compared to Zagreus', "My Athena makes me invincible just so long as I'm dashing . . . which is all the time because I can do it thrice in a row."
Mono god Hestia run with daggers and an extra sthing for origination is *mwah* chef's kiss.
What if shocking loss worked on bosses but just does a big chunk of their max health instead? like a reverse demeter legendary I guess.
I haven't even watched the video yet, but holy shit you managed to probably piss off a lot of Poseidon fans (and some who cling to the bried era when Hera was OP outside of Born Gain). Already 10/10 and I haven't even hit play yet xD
Anyway, see how much I get right blind:
S+: Chaos.
S: Aphrodite (usally start with her keepsake with melee), Poseidon (Same for ranged, though I may go Demeter or Hera)
A: Demeter, Hera, Apollo
B: Hestia
C:... sadly my favourite god, Hepaestus (his attack/special/cast are all so bad, but his utility boons are top tier... they just don't define a build), Zeus (Blitz is literally a strictly worse Doom from H1, and he donesn't really have any utility either, though his magic gain is a lot better than it used to be)
I think heph is underrated.
Really liked the fact that you showed all Boons to help us remember what everything does
transistor 10th anniversary shirt spotted 👀
cool video!
kinda weird to see Artemis in S, her boons are not that amazing imo, but since she only has 7 boons to offer, there's a good chance you'll get at least a very good one offered. still, I'd probably put her in A tier instead
now, kinda working the opposite way, I think Hestia could be A tier. unless you're running a build around cast, hers is always a good option to fill core boons and it can be a reliable origination proc along with Demeter's Gale Force and you can play around her duos, that you agree are good, I even think Hot Flash is good, too, despite how hard it is to apply Weak. she's not often as good as other gods can be on the Attacks/Specials boons department, but you know... Scorch good.
other than that, I think I mostly agree with this tier list. rly happy to see Aphrodite in S, btw, I think her boons are really good, really sad that her attacks/specials don't apply weak in this game, but considering how much she already buffs them, maybe she'd be too strong.
I don’t understand the Heph ranking at all, but you do play far more than I do.
Even epic mint condition is 12 seconds.
i think the olympian tier list is pretty accurate, but i find myself ending up with demeter on my runs more often than apollo or even hera. also hestia scorch requiring you go into it fully isnt really true *imo*. i usually just take scorch ring for origination and it ends up doing a good chunk of dmg even as my only source of scorch it ends up pretty high on chart at the end.
honestly this fully depends on play style, i dont like omega cast but love normal cast, especially gale force+scorch.
also i miss hades 1 arty, in hades 2 a) feels like i dont see her much b)even when i get her, her boons dont feel that great, c)you only see her once
i feel like we should get more crit chance options, its a fun mechanic
also side note, i hope they make aphro legendary work with glam gain+ poseidon duo (maybe give it like 10 seconds cooldown?)
I feel like that would make much more sense and also just be way better than the current duo
omg, I can't believe he rated [INSERT GOD HERE] low!
lol, yep...I disagree with haelian on his ranking for hephaestus.
@@JanGoh-jb5ge yeah it feels like a waste to use when almost (not heph IMO) all other gods have a more tangible effect
Looking through comments, I have thought of a potentially effective blitz rework. Lemme know what w think:
Once you initially apply blitz, you have 2-3 seconds to apply as much damage as you can.
Do weapons aspects tier list!
Sunshine is definitely an auxiliary god, all his boons feel like hammers, I honestly don't think he should take up slots except for the sprint and the mana Regen

Yoooooo that's me!!!!!!!!!!! I'm there!!!!!!
As a crap Hades player, Heph is the reason I beat Chronos. Heavy carried me in the late game with the attack/special effects.
im so glad that zeus is mid in this game. i was so tired of feeling obligated to pick him up every run! and the devs have left him in a much more interesting spot coming in to hades ii. his boons come off as 'greedy,' in that you have to devote a lot of slots in your build to his boons if you want to maximize their power. but, when you do, it feels great! especially if you have easy ways to proc static shock. hes a god who asks a lot of you, which feels thematically appropriate as The Patriach of The Family :3 i do think that blitz needs some work, though. seeing him pop up in oceanus for the first time in place of a god you actually want to build can feel pretty bad
If you're like me and play spin-to-win with the axe, then Aphrodite and Hera are your favorite gods to see.
What about Echo, though? And Narcissisus or Arachne?? Yeah, they don’t _really_ give boons but I’d compare at least Echo with Circe boon-wise.
Who the fuck is Medea i did like 30 runs how did i never see them
Yeah she doesn’t come up often 😂
I have done more that 240+ runs, maxed out all weapon aspects, completed both stages on 24 fear AND I have not seen Medea once !!
@@utq1 Wut? How have you not seen medea a single time on the surface?
@@sam.k.classic none, at the beginning I was seeing a character at the crossroads with a cat then it vanished from everywhere, never seen again. did not see her in the game .
S: Aphrodite, Hera, Chaos
A: Artemis, Apollo, Hestia
B: Demeter, Hephaestus, Zeus
C: Hermes, Poseidon, (Selene)
D: Hades
Luv u
what about arachne??
Poseidon in B: No ha ha
Yes, Winter Harvest works with bosses. It even makes Grandpa play the dying animation before the dialogue appears lol
The tier list for high fear is soooo much different
Yeah I mostly focused the list around just having strong runs at relatively low Fear (like 16 or less imo). At the end of the day, my channel is here to help new players more than anything so catering a tier list to 32+ Fear doesn't really make sense for me I think.
@@Haelian yeah that's fair. glad that poseidon has a place at least at low-mid fear
Not going to lie, my current teir list would look way different. I think I'd be judging them on slightly different criteria though.
Imo, the rankings have no real meaning but it was fun discussing the different boons/affects!
It's better as a curse applyer than it is at recovering Magick. It's not quite good enough for builds where you spend a lot of Magick imo.
S-tier: Hestia
A-tier: Demeter, Hephaetitus,Hera
B-tier: Appolo,Aphrodite,Zeus
C-tier: Poseidon,
Hestia has strongest attack boon in the game, it applies curse and when picking Origination, you get +50% damage for free.
Poseidon is BiS where he’s good, and weak where he’s not. Being niche doesn’t make him the worst.
@@calliope-greii he is both niche and worst
@@Weraptor To be fair, so many builds are viable in some capacity that I feel every god is B-Tier at the lowest. I also really disagree with this person’s placement of Aphro, as if you’re not on a weapon that can reliably stack scorch and/or you have a need to kill things very quickly her attack boons are by far the best
More low hanging fruit I am lazy and don’t like reaching
Fire god burn. Me like fire.
Disappointed about Zeus but can’t disagree. Poseidon to me should be higher. Aphrodite is too good. She synergies with herself too well.

@@HaelianLOL
Dammit!
Downfall of Zeus should be studied...
Zeus in C tier wtf dan 😭
Blitz is just lame in general, visually meh, not enough damage, meh synergy, I wish they would just bring back the arcing lightning it looked so cool and actually made you feel like you were just BLITZing through an encounter. Now it's just sad
Not the Zeus Fall off 😢
I DONT AGREE, REEEEEEEEEEEE
Fixed Gain (Heph magick regen) rework idea: restore (50/60/70/80%) of your missing HP as magick every 1 second
so if have 200 max HP and are currently at 100 HP, you're missing 100 HP, so you restore 50/60/70/80 magick per second. Fixed Gain is so bad because it gives you a limited pool of magick to work with like Born Gain, but unlike Born which clears your primed magick for a fresh start every room it's tied to your HP, so you have a limited pool of magick which carries over room to room. if you take a bunch of damage in a previous room, you loose access to magick on future rooms because that HP doesn't come back, and damage taken at full magick is wasted because you can't overfill your magick meter. this rework keeps the premise of "gain magick by taking damage", but in a way that allows access to an unlimited magick stock (which is how every other gain except born works) and doesn't allow you to screw yourself on future rooms by messing up on an unrelated previous room. it also encourages an exciting risk reward playstyle, since allowing yourself to remain at low HP without healing also allows you to spam omega attacks aggressively
as an alternative rework, scale your magick regen off of total damage taken (same running damage total that Blackend Fleece tracks), so you can slowly charge up a really powerful magick regen over the course of an entire run without forcing players not to heal
It's funny how my choices are almost a mirror of yours. It'd go something like
S- Heph, Demeter, Hera
A- Aphro, Zeus, Hestia
B- Apollo, Hermes
C- Poseidon
(This is from a 50 fear perspective)
50 fear is basically a whole different game lol
how do i get to the god boons list/info in game?
you look up the gods in your encyclopedia (press C usually) and then press I for boon info. before you can see it you need to unlock an enchantment from the cauldron though called Insight into Offerings, the prerequisite for which is gifting every god at least one nectar
@@Feayeme thx
So many C and D tier gods is a bad sign for the balance of the game.
yeah was going to say most of the gods feel underwhelming, I hope they balance things and make some of the obvious trash boons way better...
Nah that's not really how this game works, the "difference" between S and C tier is really not that much but visually it looks like a lot because of the tier list format.. Also my rankings are far from indicative of the game's balance.
bruh, Heph rocks
Arti stays winning.
This is looking more like a waifu tier list.
Ranking Chaos, Hermes, Artemis, Icarus, Momus, Circe, Hades, etc. doesn't really make any sense.
Since they always only add to your build, they can only rationally be S-tier since you don't have to pick and choose between them when stacking against the pool.
