I could see that actually. It's hard because I feel good about seeing gods based on the build I'm going for. Artemis is kind of like Athena but for damage. She's got a lot of boons that just take builds to the next level in their damage.

Artemis, I think is the most OP and Deserves S tier simply because the Damage you can get from most weapons with her Critical and her Legendary...If you have no Artemis boons the game will likely take forever
I honestly didn’t think too much of Hermes until recently, I had the lambent plume, max zag sword, and then I got rush delivery and it was legitimately the FASTEST I’ve ever killed hades, and I think that’s one of the best things about hades, that EVERY god has some uses that make them feel super powerful

Artemis is an easy S tier. Her boons almost universally improve every other god, and by herself she can take many mediocre weapon aspects to extreme power. And her duo with Athena raises her own consistent damage output even higher, doing or trolling average damage output. Athena/Artemis/Dionysus cast for example can result in D's level 1 white cast hitting for 500+ damage each with Pressure Points.

Dionysus underrated here. Multiple strong builds rely on him. Whether it’s Chiron Bow and Drunken Flourish or the cast loading weapons using Trippy Shot, his T1s define multiple high tier builds.
Agreed. If you combine him with Artemis, Ares and Aphrodite it's absolutely disgusting how much damage you can output. Between those 4 gods, if you get even just 2 or so Duo boons, you melt bosses. Nevermind if you can get all possible combinations.
My favorite build is Dionysus special on aspect of chaos shield. His legendary as well as his duo boons with Poseidon, Aphrodite, and Ares give this build a crazy combination of high damage and amazing survivability. I also love Dionysus as a support on pretty much any run because of boons like Strong Drink and Premium Vintage.
I like Dionysus because he gave me one of my first ever wins, using the rail with drunken strike. Made it easy to stack the five stacks of hangover at all times
You mentioned that killing strike from Demeter, which is great, but one of her boons that I really enjoy is killing freeze, basically around 20 damage per second if every enemy is afflicted with chill. Great for bosses, and if you've got Dionysus boons on top of that the enemies just start melting like butter
I think my only thing from my personal preference is I would flip Aphrodite and Ares because I found Aphrodite requires less maintenance to get the most out of her boons. Particularly if you can get Sweet Surrender and Broken Resolve to further expand the debuffs you can place on bosses. Ares for me is just too dependent on Duo Boons to get the most out of his boons. Which admittedly, he's part of some the strongest duo boons in the game, but at that point the more you rely on that much to get the build really working, the more susceptible you become to the RNG.
Duo boons are a huge part of the game and can make or break your build often times if you do/don't get the ones you were aiming for. Merciful End and Hunting Blades are arguably the two strongest ones in the entire game and can just wreck bosses. Heart Rend is strong but not nearly as game winning as those two. Weak feels sorta underwhelming as a status curse, her cast is so short range that it's incredibly annoying to try to use. I don't feel like her minor boons like Different League and Life Affirmation are all that much better than Ares' (Blood Frenzy, Urge to Kill, etc), if at all. With Gods' Legacy and the God Keepsakes, getting Duo boons isn't nearly as much of a problem RNG wise as you seem to make it out to be. Unless you have Routine Inspection turned on, if you're going for a Duo boon you realistically should be able to get it if you shoot for it and don't diversify the gods whose boons you pick up too much.
Chaos really lives up to their name. Especially since I started Hard mode, they have cost me some otherwise promising runs with stuff like 'Dash is 48 reduced'. Of course, when it goes right, Chaos is my best friend. Hard to say no to '+148% damage from behind' or extra cast stones, for any price.
Been playing this game since drop. Love the evolving tier list series. I hope it gets an official expansion or incorporates some multi-player run options. Would be cool to see boon interactions that are only achievable with partner play.
I can definitely respect this list. Aphrodite is the only one I don't agree with, she has the highest base damage attack and special in the game. I would swap Ares with Aphrodite, but that's the only change I'd make. Great list, thank you very much for the tier list.😁

I love Dionysus’s boons offensively. Drunken flourish is my go to for higher heats since I can dash around and attack others while previous targets continue to take damage. Esp with spear
I feel like without Hermes’ boons your run with suffer greatly against the final two bosses. Greater haste, hyper sprint, or bonus dashes allow you to survive and avoid damage. So for being so necessary, especially against Forced Overtime, I would put Hermes at S Tier.

Interesting list. Mine would look pretty different. I would never, under any circumstances put Athena anywhere near the top. Offense is the best defense in Hades and she is lacking in that regard - also, I find most her boons not exciting. However, your reasoning for your decisions is solid and enjoyed the video very much.
So I thought that also but just had a run with Athena+apherdite yesterday. It's an n of 1, but you only need 1 strong damage boon, and having the heavy defense to support the one good damage boon really carried the build. Definitely rethinking Athena a bit now.
@@Creationweek Fair, and I don't want to trash Athena at all. Simply saying I prefer other gods. Also, as I got better at the game my taste/views changed: in the beginning I was running Athena and Aphrodite a lot (successfully). The defense made it easier to learn the game, I think.
I agree that her boons are less exciting than the others (other than merciful end) but whenever I am doing something especially difficult in the the game (higher heat, challenges) I almost always include Athena for the dash, call, death defiances etc.
Divine dash is the strongest boon in the game by far period. All though I have to say the best god in general for me has to be artemis because of trucks load of damage.
My top picks are Poseidon, Artemis then either Zeus or Dionysus depending on if I want to be aggressive or passive. I'm more likely to add Aries if on a hangover build for the potential faster poison effect and is also one of the rare occasions I may accept Aphrodite nowadays if using a weapon that can stack hangover quickly to benefit from the extra stacks. Athena is an odd one for me as I love reflect on certain abilities, but don't like having her potentially block the more offensive gods and possibly have me stuck with weak attacks at a bad time. Oh, and... "A lot of people asked me to include Chaos." [Gives Chaos their own tier] 🤣
Haha, thanks for the input! I think a lot of people don't enjoy Athena as much, but I'll just say that in a pinch, there is no other god I'd rather have in my boon list. If i'm trying a higher heat level or if I'm doing a challenge of some kind, Athena is great to have for her dash, her call, and the death defiances. She's one of the only truly defensive gods in the game.
For how I like to play, Poseidon is the only god in S-tier for me, with Artemis, Zeus and Dionysus in A-tier. Everyone else is B-tier for me, and I know it hurts some players, but I really don't use casts all that much. I came from Dark Souls, all I need is dodge and attack, with the occasional call to finish bosses off with a flourish!
@@JawlessPaul At this point, Supergiant Games might as well be called wizards for what they've achieved. Isaac, Risk of Rain, Spelunky, every other roguelike (and lite) have significantly more items, powerups, routes through the game, etc... and yet Hades has MORE WAYS TO PLAY - it both makes no sense and, considering their previous titles, isn't surprising in the slightest!
I'll admit, that category reveal at the end got me xD I think it's a testament to how well the game is balanced that a tier list doesn't feel like the right way to talk about it. In most tier lists a B-tier would be anything that is S-tier in the right circumstances but lackluster otherwise, and that's basically everybody. Aphrodite's is my most-taken Olympian keepsake because the damage bonus was useful for my 32 heat run with Hestia's Rail.
Good tier list, that makes a lot of sense. I personally have felt that my own list fluctuated quite a lot depending on how I explore the game and how I change my gamestyle from offensive to defensive to specific curses to a balance of all. Now that I've been playing it for almost 900 runs in about a year, I don't quite try to rank them in a list anymore. Each god-dess serves different purpose, and it really depends on the mood of the moment and what type of build I want to do. Sure, taking them separately according to their own merits is good, but the game is really about how to combine them, and how to cook them all together like divine ingredients to make up a delicious dish, smokey and drippin'hot ! (or a salad, if you're into these kind of things). My personal favorite gods to combine together are : 1/ Zeus/Poseidon (obviously) and any of the following : Artemis for crits and optionally lightning rod (especially with Jolted, which becomes one of the most broken duos of the game, which enters auto damage mode all over the screen), Dionysus for Exclusive Access and Scintillating feast. I don't personally find sea storm that impressive on heavy hitting slow weapons, but on fast hitting weapons like the rail, it slaps ! Even better if you can find Zeus'legendary splitting bolt, that's a bonus of 80 damage points per BULLET on top of its base damage, which is insane ! Especially if you found jolted and fractured + the mirror's 40% more damage for 2 curses. Coupled with Zag's rail with its double ammo, and even better, if you find the infinite ammo hammer, it becomes one of the most broken weapons of the entire game (I melted Hades EM4 in around a minute and half with it, my fastest fight with him, ever). 2/ Artemis/Aphrodite/Dionysus, one of my favorite trio of the game, and one of the surprisingly most synergyzed ofthe game, with heart rend (especially on Nemesis), splitting headache and low tolerance, one of the most broken trio of duo (if that makes sense) boons of the game, and if you get Dionysus's call, it melts bosses HP like snow under the sun. Add Hermes's wombo combo ( and why not Athena's or Chaos backstab damage) and you've got another daddy melter. Zeus's wild kids know how to throw a party ! 3/ Ares/Athena/anybody else, for Merciful End, obviously. Even better on the fists with doom on the attack and Dire misfortune + impending doom. 4/ Ares/Artemis/Chaos for more cast stones,thus more Hunting blades madness. 5/ Poseidon/Dionysus/Aphrodite Also one of the most synergetic trios of the game, with exclusive access and sweet nectar : Epic boons everywhere + massive levels up ! And no, I still don't take Demeter coz she's old and boring... (except with Artemis and her hunting lasers and Dionysus ice wine. A possible trio I enjoy with her would be with Dio and Zeus, for Ice Wine scintillating feast, which can be fun, or with Poseidon and their duo cast, which is one of the most broken of the game).
I’m about 16 heat with most weapons at this point, and I’ll say the two gods that I criminally underrated early-on were Demeter and Dio. Dio is tricky to put on everything for hangover/trippy shot, but if I see him early on, getting Strong Drink is nuts. Never sad to see an early Dio for that alone. Demeter is similar in that outside of some of her more janky builds with cast/chill, she is just an all around good “support” champ. Nourished Soul, Ravenous Will, Rare Crop, and even Snow Burst are all really good. Shows how well designed they really made all the gods.
Getting rare or epic dash from hermes makes the Hades fight incredibly easy and if you have tidal dash then is also makes the styx rooms hilarious, but I'm sure you already know that
Definitely agree on chaos! I just finished the prophecy of using all the different mirror picks, to get more titan blood. I did like 9-10 of the "opposite" picks at once, just to clear them up quickly. And getting that extra DD, when you have stubborn defiance, and using a bunch of unfamiliar things (1st time trying most of them at all. Ruthless reflex, golden touch, stygian soul, etc); anyways, Chaos was literally a life saver lol. Not to mention the extra cast, and the insane damage output... best pick up all the time, UNLESS you're in a bad spot to deal with the curse.
Aphrodite is great, keeps hades damage in check, highest base damage boons, easy procs of privileged status. Also has even more damage reduction and extra healing if needed. Ares has extra damage after death defiance which can carry vs em4 hades.
half of aphrodite's duo boons are aspect defining. smoldering air that lets you rack up crazy damage on any aspect that lets you get in close with zeus, heart rend for any 1-2 punch combos with artemis, low tolerance & curse of longing that punch up doom & hangover effects. her cast is also one of the most powerful in the game, making her a viable pick for any cast build; esp considering aformentioned duo's
I appreciate your points. I'd argue that some of those are only beneficial for very few builds. Curse of Longing is a trap though. Just apply doom again so it does full damage. Anyway, thanks for the thoughts!
Interesting ranking. For me, I will always take Athena, Artemis and Ares, if offered their boons, so I'd place them in my S tier. Deflect is just too good, yo. Zeus is probably A tier, and especially if I'm using the fists or the rail, my favorite weapons. I won't say no to Poseidon dash or call either. Hermes is great (extra dash and more speed FTW), but I've never won a run solely from Hermes either, and sometimes I have skipped him if absolutely necessary. Demeter is fun for chill/slow and I do like the crystal beams, but her boons don't always synergize well. Aphrodite would be better if weak didn't feel so useless tbh. It's better to take 0 damage than to reduce damage, after all. Dionysus is probably my least used god, although I do love the boon that allows you to fully heal at any fountain drink lol
As a beginner/bad player Aphrodite and Athena have become my top 2-3 gods. Basically I haven’t even cleared a run without having a full on defensive build or kiting build like shield+doom special.

I'd move artemis to S because her Crits provide such a stupid amount of damage its insane. Also probably move Demeter to low A because like you said the chill effects are super underrated. The only one I REALLY disagree with is Zeus, I'd have that mofo at like C or D on par with Aphrodite. I hate his boons, he has so many mid boons, its only somewhat decent if you have like 4-5+ of them and even then I'd still just rather stack Artemis boons. Also Poeisdon with Tidal dash + Razor Shoals is super OP
Bruh,...same league🙌...i tried it...felt the same but when i upgraded it to lvl. 16, if you get it to shoot precisely, you can instantly kill anything(except hades himself)⚡
You massivly undervalued Demeter. You can get a boon that adds decay to chilled enemies as long as they are only enemy on the field (So any boss fight) or the boon that upgrades your boons rarity to heroic after 9 encounters.

to be honest ares, poseidon, and dinoysus funnily enough are my top 3. Doom slaps early and mid game, poseidon giving enhanced loot is so amazing, and dinoysus carries late game with healing at low health (though if we talking how op they are hermes and artemis are some of the best as well as athena)
My favorite run is getting ares, zeus, aphrodite, athena, and dionysus. My strat is being a FRICKING TANK and using my revenge boons to melt hades while i use dionysus to heal before every zone thing
Dionysus in B? Honestly I feel like he could go into S very easily. His single boons can do literally anything. Damage, Defence, Cast, Special, Healing, but where he gets BUSTED is his duo’s. He pairs well with Artemis, Aphrodite, Zeus, Ares, everybody. Splitting headache, low tolerance and curse of nausea are absolutely broken with the right setup with the shield of Zeus and the Chiron bow.
I think if you look at what each god brings to the table, you can make any of them VERY good. It's when you compare potential against each other, that's when you see the difference. Of course, it's all about play style and preferences. Cheers!
If hades had new expansion or DLC , it would be cool if they did the Titans escaped and zagreus had to go murder them ! Getting helped from New Gods and heros of the underworld ! Blood and darkness ... Maybe Cerberus , Lernie the hydra could come to help out or some new God calls . Itll be a great add on leading into the Hades 2 game thats introducing a new character to play ...
For the love of Aphrodite: Smoldering Air makes the bosses a complete joke. Even without Smoldering Air, her Call is insanely helpful. also gives good %dmg buffs for weapons like Hestia, Arthur, and Bow attack. My tier list: S: Artemis, Athena, Zeus A: Hermes, Chaos, Poseidon, Aphrodite B: Ares, Demeter (only because of her legendary, and her duos can be fun) C: Dio (he's just my least favorite for most the weapons I prefer to use)
Poseidon also has a few demo bones that I think are like critical for builds I know the main build I use actually centers around See storm, My other favorite build which is Bay blades also wants To get Mirage shot if it can, I also think Morales shot hes just very good for cast builds in the 1st place
I've fallen into abit of a bad habit lately of always taking Aphrodite then Artemis and Dionysus for the extra crit chance and hangover stacks. The combo works well with alot of aspects but i need to shake my game up a little...
Athena is probably the single best god for fighting bosses and specifically Hades I was doing a Stygius run earlier with the hammer upgrade that lets you slash nonstop and he just couldn't hit me 😂
Nothing is best or fav. in my opinion. Each god is best with the right aspect and the right weapon. Best build with boon: 1) Aspect of eris + zeus or artemis attack + no reload hammer. 2) Aspect of rama + aphrodite attack + dionysis or ares special + (+4 spl) hammer. 3) Aspect of lucifer + zeus or demeter attack + ares spl. + no reload hammer. 4) Aspect of chiron + Dionysius spl. + (+4 spl.) Hammer + hermes faster special boon. 5) Aspect of beowulf + poseidon special + artemis or ares cast + choas additional cast boon + dash strike armour hammer. 6). Aspect of nemesis + ares attack + artemis special + thrust damage hammer. ( Never ever try to pick the chop attack hammer,...worst ever decision...it'll ruin the aspect attack) Note : try using pom as much as possible or try choosing persophone's keepsake for every chambers. Gives best results when boons upgraded to the fullest.
I enjoyed the video. I definitely agreed with some and disagree with others. But that’s what makes the game so great. You can stack your boons to how you play. Like if I play with my girlfriend. We have to choose different boons. Because she has a slightly different fighting style then me. So even if I didn’t agree with a placement of a god. I can understand why you would rank your gods differently than I would. Great Video 👍
Poseidon is personally my least favorite. Knock away powers are terrible for close range weapons, especially fighting enemies in the middle of an open area, I choose him mostly to farm gems
@@JawlessPaul Poseidens dash and special (on the spear) were my first favourite boons. Now that I have hundreds of hours I almost never take Poseidon unless I'm pushing for a specific build. I just hate getting his useless treasure lol when other gods have so many good options
Aphro is my favorite and least favorite god at the same time. On one hand, she is practically one of the best champs to have in most builds. She’s an immediate status proc, has the highest base damage multiplier on attacks, and some of the best duos in the game (smoldering air, heart-rend, curse of longing, low tolerance) On the other hand, her other “support” are pretty bad/boring. Other than more damage against weak, who actually cares about “longer weak duration” or tiny amounts of damage reduction? I’d probably place her higher on the basis that her duos are always great, but damn, it sucks when she gives you all of the other shitty support boons
Her duos are OK, I'd argue that low tolerance is rarely useful, and curse of longing is a trap. Better to just reapply doom then let it peter out. I do agree on smoldering air and heart rend though :) Her cast is super fun though

Curse of longing can “kinda” work as secondary DPS if you have Doom on something that doesn’t proc a lot, but I always felt like it was really awkward with Dire Misfortune wanting multiple doom procs Is Low Tolerance that bad tho? A lot of the aspects I would use Dio on could easily get to 8 stacks, and while I would want to have Ares first for Nausea, there aren’t a lot of other ways to boost Hangover damage right? The only alternative I would see would be having Artemis with PP or Artemis/Dio duo
Honestly the only thing that Poseidon is good with in my opinion is giving gold, I just think that the knockback is just too specific and only ever useful in Styx which is the place that you attain generally because you already had a good build to attain it and is absolutely useless against every boss of the game
I'll wait til next vid to tell you about my craziest run I just had like my build was so busted op that it trivialized the need to think focus and strategize to beat hades and you could just press buttons and win
I'd say this list is pretty good. I think for veteran players not so much, for new players it's accurate. I think Artemis is S, Hermes is S, Athena is A tier or B tier, Dionysus is A tier, everything else I agree with. Good video though solid points across the board 👍
I don't know if I agree with the idea that you just want to ignore damage altogether. Uh during the early game and I guess like just like through the normal play thru of the game yeah but once I got to the point where I was like Speed running at just making a normal run like at least once A-day It didn't really matter to me that I was taking damage because I was going to kill them faster anyways. It got to the point where I stopped trying to Dodge dad's laser and just started dashing at him because I did more damage it was probably gonna kill him
The only thing id change is that Poseidon is still D tier sure he has SOME great boons but most of the other ones are doo doo at least in my opinion and Artemis is definitively S tier no questions asked because most if not everything us useful when it comes to her
@@JawlessPaul true true and tbh im probably underestimating Zeus and Dionysus, stacked lightning boons at the start can go a long way, same with stuns and status weaknesses like crowd control later on
Aphrodite has better damage though, but yeah, deflect is super strong. In Hades 2 they removed it from the game, probably because they realized it was the simplest way to beat the game
Interesting to see Demeter in b tier, personally I try to stay away from her. The slow down is nice but I don't really like a lot of her boons especially her cast.
@@JawlessPaul she does have that one duo boon with Artemis that makes them way more useable. It actually makes it my second favorite cast but unless your lucky getting that duo boon takes a while to get.
I’m shocked Zeus isn’t higher, he has so many great duos. Besides Sea Storm, there’s Smoldering Air, Lightning Rod, Scintillating Feast, Cold Fusion. Plus his Legendary. Sure there are some other great non-Zeus duos like Merciful End but in mind no other god has that powerful a lineup of duos.

Also, artemis is sh*te. Crit chance is not dependable. Yea you can hit for 4000+ on the 3rd swing from stygius aspect of arthur, but can you count on it, when you are facing 2nd phase hades?
It's actually pretty dependable if you find Hunter's Mark. I actually don't prefer crit with slow weapons because yeah the number is bigger, but the small chip damage is great and if it crits it's so much better. It triples the damage, which just can't be ignored. The more you use Artemis, the more you notice just how much additional damage you are able to do.
The thing about Poseidon is that he is ridiculous at clearing rooms but absolute dogshit against bosses
So bad they gave him a boon to compensate for that.

Dionysus underrated here. Multiple strong builds rely on him. Whether it’s Chiron Bow and Drunken Flourish or the cast loading weapons using Trippy Shot, his T1s define multiple high tier builds.

Agreed. If you combine him with Artemis, Ares and Aphrodite it's absolutely disgusting how much damage you can output.
Between those 4 gods, if you get even just 2 or so Duo boons, you melt bosses. Nevermind if you can get all possible combinations.
My favorite build is Dionysus special on aspect of chaos shield. His legendary as well as his duo boons with Poseidon, Aphrodite, and Ares give this build a crazy combination of high damage and amazing survivability. I also love Dionysus as a support on pretty much any run because of boons like Strong Drink and Premium Vintage.
I like Dionysus because he gave me one of my first ever wins, using the rail with drunken strike. Made it easy to stack the five stacks of hangover at all times
dionysus pairs extremely well with the rail and strong drink is literally a lifesaver
You mentioned that killing strike from Demeter, which is great, but one of her boons that I really enjoy is killing freeze, basically around 20 damage per second if every enemy is afflicted with chill. Great for bosses, and if you've got Dionysus boons on top of that the enemies just start melting like butter

I think my only thing from my personal preference is I would flip Aphrodite and Ares because I found Aphrodite requires less maintenance to get the most out of her boons. Particularly if you can get Sweet Surrender and Broken Resolve to further expand the debuffs you can place on bosses.
Ares for me is just too dependent on Duo Boons to get the most out of his boons. Which admittedly, he's part of some the strongest duo boons in the game, but at that point the more you rely on that much to get the build really working, the more susceptible you become to the RNG.
Duo boons are a huge part of the game and can make or break your build often times if you do/don't get the ones you were aiming for. Merciful End and Hunting Blades are arguably the two strongest ones in the entire game and can just wreck bosses. Heart Rend is strong but not nearly as game winning as those two. Weak feels sorta underwhelming as a status curse, her cast is so short range that it's incredibly annoying to try to use. I don't feel like her minor boons like Different League and Life Affirmation are all that much better than Ares' (Blood Frenzy, Urge to Kill, etc), if at all. With Gods' Legacy and the God Keepsakes, getting Duo boons isn't nearly as much of a problem RNG wise as you seem to make it out to be. Unless you have Routine Inspection turned on, if you're going for a Duo boon you realistically should be able to get it if you shoot for it and don't diversify the gods whose boons you pick up too much.

Chaos really lives up to their name.
Especially since I started Hard mode, they have cost me some otherwise promising runs with stuff like 'Dash is 48 reduced'.
Of course, when it goes right, Chaos is my best friend. Hard to say no to '+148% damage from behind' or extra cast stones, for any price.

Been playing this game since drop. Love the evolving tier list series. I hope it gets an official expansion or incorporates some multi-player run options. Would be cool to see boon interactions that are only achievable with partner play.

I can definitely respect this list. Aphrodite is the only one I don't agree with, she has the highest base damage attack and special in the game. I would swap Ares with Aphrodite, but that's the only change I'd make. Great list, thank you very much for the tier list.😁

I love Dionysus’s boons offensively. Drunken flourish is my go to for higher heats since I can dash around and attack others while previous targets continue to take damage. Esp with spear
I feel like without Hermes’ boons your run with suffer greatly against the final two bosses. Greater haste, hyper sprint, or bonus dashes allow you to survive and avoid damage. So for being so necessary, especially against Forced Overtime, I would put Hermes at S Tier.

Interesting list. Mine would look pretty different. I would never, under any circumstances put Athena anywhere near the top. Offense is the best defense in Hades and she is lacking in that regard - also, I find most her boons not exciting. However, your reasoning for your decisions is solid and enjoyed the video very much.
So I thought that also but just had a run with Athena+apherdite yesterday. It's an n of 1, but you only need 1 strong damage boon, and having the heavy defense to support the one good damage boon really carried the build. Definitely rethinking Athena a bit now.
@@Creationweek Fair, and I don't want to trash Athena at all. Simply saying I prefer other gods. Also, as I got better at the game my taste/views changed: in the beginning I was running Athena and Aphrodite a lot (successfully). The defense made it easier to learn the game, I think.
I agree that her boons are less exciting than the others (other than merciful end) but whenever I am doing something especially difficult in the the game (higher heat, challenges) I almost always include Athena for the dash, call, death defiances etc.
I'd say she's great just for that deflect on the dash
Divine dash is the strongest boon in the game by far period. All though I have to say the best god in general for me has to be artemis because of trucks load of damage.
My top picks are Poseidon, Artemis then either Zeus or Dionysus depending on if I want to be aggressive or passive. I'm more likely to add Aries if on a hangover build for the potential faster poison effect and is also one of the rare occasions I may accept Aphrodite nowadays if using a weapon that can stack hangover quickly to benefit from the extra stacks. Athena is an odd one for me as I love reflect on certain abilities, but don't like having her potentially block the more offensive gods and possibly have me stuck with weak attacks at a bad time. Oh, and...

Haha, thanks for the input! I think a lot of people don't enjoy Athena as much, but I'll just say that in a pinch, there is no other god I'd rather have in my boon list. If i'm trying a higher heat level or if I'm doing a challenge of some kind, Athena is great to have for her dash, her call, and the death defiances. She's one of the only truly defensive gods in the game.

For how I like to play, Poseidon is the only god in S-tier for me, with Artemis, Zeus and Dionysus in A-tier. Everyone else is B-tier for me, and I know it hurts some players, but I really don't use casts all that much. I came from Dark Souls, all I need is dodge and attack, with the occasional call to finish bosses off with a flourish!

@@JawlessPaul At this point, Supergiant Games might as well be called wizards for what they've achieved. Isaac, Risk of Rain, Spelunky, every other roguelike (and lite) have significantly more items, powerups, routes through the game, etc... and yet Hades has MORE WAYS TO PLAY - it both makes no sense and, considering their previous titles, isn't surprising in the slightest!
I'll admit, that category reveal at the end got me xD I think it's a testament to how well the game is balanced that a tier list doesn't feel like the right way to talk about it. In most tier lists a B-tier would be anything that is S-tier in the right circumstances but lackluster otherwise, and that's basically everybody. Aphrodite's is my most-taken Olympian keepsake because the damage bonus was useful for my 32 heat run with Hestia's Rail.

Good tier list, that makes a lot of sense.
I personally have felt that my own list fluctuated quite a lot depending on how I explore the game and how I change my gamestyle from offensive to defensive to specific curses to a balance of all.
Now that I've been playing it for almost 900 runs in about a year, I don't quite try to rank them in a list anymore. Each god-dess serves different purpose, and it really depends on the mood of the moment and what type of build I want to do. Sure, taking them separately according to their own merits is good, but the game is really about how to combine them, and how to cook them all together like divine ingredients to make up a delicious dish, smokey and drippin'hot ! (or a salad, if you're into these kind of things).
My personal favorite gods to combine together are :
1/ Zeus/Poseidon (obviously) and any of the following : Artemis for crits and optionally lightning rod (especially with Jolted, which becomes one of the most broken duos of the game, which enters auto damage mode all over the screen), Dionysus for Exclusive Access and Scintillating feast.
I don't personally find sea storm that impressive on heavy hitting slow weapons, but on fast hitting weapons like the rail, it slaps ! Even better if you can find Zeus'legendary splitting bolt, that's a bonus of 80 damage points per BULLET on top of its base damage, which is insane ! Especially if you found jolted and fractured + the mirror's 40% more damage for 2 curses. Coupled with Zag's rail with its double ammo, and even better, if you find the infinite ammo hammer, it becomes one of the most broken weapons of the entire game (I melted Hades EM4 in around a minute and half with it, my fastest fight with him, ever).
2/ Artemis/Aphrodite/Dionysus, one of my favorite trio of the game, and one of the surprisingly most synergyzed ofthe game, with heart rend (especially on Nemesis), splitting headache and low tolerance, one of the most broken trio of duo (if that makes sense) boons of the game, and if you get Dionysus's call, it melts bosses HP like snow under the sun. Add Hermes's wombo combo ( and why not Athena's or Chaos backstab damage) and you've got another daddy melter. Zeus's wild kids know how to throw a party !
3/ Ares/Athena/anybody else, for Merciful End, obviously. Even better on the fists with doom on the attack and Dire misfortune + impending doom.
4/ Ares/Artemis/Chaos for more cast stones,thus more Hunting blades madness.
5/ Poseidon/Dionysus/Aphrodite
Also one of the most synergetic trios of the game, with exclusive access and sweet nectar : Epic boons everywhere + massive levels up !
And no, I still don't take Demeter coz she's old and boring... (except with Artemis and her hunting lasers and Dionysus ice wine. A possible trio I enjoy with her would be with Dio and Zeus, for Ice Wine scintillating feast, which can be fun, or with Poseidon and their duo cast, which is one of the most broken of the game).

I’m about 16 heat with most weapons at this point, and I’ll say the two gods that I criminally underrated early-on were Demeter and Dio.
Dio is tricky to put on everything for hangover/trippy shot, but if I see him early on, getting Strong Drink is nuts. Never sad to see an early Dio for that alone.
Demeter is similar in that outside of some of her more janky builds with cast/chill, she is just an all around good “support” champ. Nourished Soul, Ravenous Will, Rare Crop, and even Snow Burst are all really good.
Shows how well designed they really made all the gods.
Getting rare or epic dash from hermes makes the Hades fight incredibly easy and if you have tidal dash then is also makes the styx rooms hilarious, but I'm sure you already know that
I absolutely love Dionysus with the Adamant Rail, my personal favorite attack boon right after Zeus’.
Definitely agree on chaos! I just finished the prophecy of using all the different mirror picks, to get more titan blood. I did like 9-10 of the "opposite" picks at once, just to clear them up quickly. And getting that extra DD, when you have stubborn defiance, and using a bunch of unfamiliar things (1st time trying most of them at all. Ruthless reflex, golden touch, stygian soul, etc); anyways, Chaos was literally a life saver lol.
Not to mention the extra cast, and the insane damage output... best pick up all the time, UNLESS you're in a bad spot to deal with the curse.

Aphrodite is great, keeps hades damage in check, highest base damage boons, easy procs of privileged status. Also has even more damage reduction and extra healing if needed. Ares has extra damage after death defiance which can carry vs em4 hades.
Definitely a good defensive god!
half of aphrodite's duo boons are aspect defining. smoldering air that lets you rack up crazy damage on any aspect that lets you get in close with zeus, heart rend for any 1-2 punch combos with artemis, low tolerance & curse of longing that punch up doom & hangover effects. her cast is also one of the most powerful in the game, making her a viable pick for any cast build; esp considering aformentioned duo's
I appreciate your points. I'd argue that some of those are only beneficial for very few builds. Curse of Longing is a trap though. Just apply doom again so it does full damage. Anyway, thanks for the thoughts!
Interesting ranking. For me, I will always take Athena, Artemis and Ares, if offered their boons, so I'd place them in my S tier. Deflect is just too good, yo.
Zeus is probably A tier, and especially if I'm using the fists or the rail, my favorite weapons. I won't say no to Poseidon dash or call either.
Hermes is great (extra dash and more speed FTW), but I've never won a run solely from Hermes either, and sometimes I have skipped him if absolutely necessary.
Demeter is fun for chill/slow and I do like the crystal beams, but her boons don't always synergize well. Aphrodite would be better if weak didn't feel so useless tbh. It's better to take 0 damage than to reduce damage, after all.
Dionysus is probably my least used god, although I do love the boon that allows you to fully heal at any fountain drink lol
The boon i like the most is lightning rods (the one that deals 70 damage pretty fast near the cast shard on the field)

As a beginner/bad player Aphrodite and Athena have become my top 2-3 gods. Basically I haven’t even cleared a run without having a full on defensive build or kiting build like shield+doom special.

I'd move artemis to S because her Crits provide such a stupid amount of damage its insane. Also probably move Demeter to low A because like you said the chill effects are super underrated. The only one I REALLY disagree with is Zeus, I'd have that mofo at like C or D on par with Aphrodite. I hate his boons, he has so many mid boons, its only somewhat decent if you have like 4-5+ of them and even then I'd still just rather stack Artemis boons.
Also Poeisdon with Tidal dash + Razor Shoals is super OP

You massivly undervalued Demeter. You can get a boon that adds decay to chilled enemies as long as they are only enemy on the field (So any boss fight) or the boon that upgrades your boons rarity to heroic after 9 encounters.
The truth is, they did a great job of balancing the gods. They are certainly all strong in their own ways.

to be honest ares, poseidon, and dinoysus funnily enough are my top 3. Doom slaps early and mid game, poseidon giving enhanced loot is so amazing, and dinoysus carries late game with healing at low health (though if we talking how op they are hermes and artemis are some of the best as well as athena)
My favorite run is getting ares, zeus, aphrodite, athena, and dionysus. My strat is being a FRICKING TANK and using my revenge boons to melt hades while i use dionysus to heal before every zone thing

Dionysus in B? Honestly I feel like he could go into S very easily.
His single boons can do literally anything. Damage, Defence, Cast, Special, Healing, but where he gets BUSTED is his duo’s. He pairs well with Artemis, Aphrodite, Zeus, Ares, everybody. Splitting headache, low tolerance and curse of nausea are absolutely broken with the right setup with the shield of Zeus and the Chiron bow.
I think if you look at what each god brings to the table, you can make any of them VERY good. It's when you compare potential against each other, that's when you see the difference. Of course, it's all about play style and preferences. Cheers!

If hades had new expansion or DLC , it would be cool if they did the Titans escaped and zagreus had to go murder them ! Getting helped from New Gods and heros of the underworld ! Blood and darkness ... Maybe Cerberus , Lernie the hydra could come to help out or some new God calls . Itll be a great add on leading into the Hades 2 game thats introducing a new character to play ...

For the love of Aphrodite: Smoldering Air makes the bosses a complete joke. Even without Smoldering Air, her Call is insanely helpful.
also gives good %dmg buffs for weapons like Hestia, Arthur, and Bow attack.
My tier list:
S: Artemis, Athena, Zeus
A: Hermes, Chaos, Poseidon, Aphrodite
B: Ares, Demeter (only because of her legendary, and her duos can be fun)
C: Dio (he's just my least favorite for most the weapons I prefer to use)

I've fallen into abit of a bad habit lately of always taking Aphrodite then Artemis and Dionysus for the extra crit chance and hangover stacks.
The combo works well with alot of aspects but i need to shake my game up a little...
It's a solid choice for some weapons. The slow hitting weapons do better with other options I think. Try focusing on lightning in stead

I was doing a Stygius run earlier with the hammer upgrade that lets you slash nonstop and he just couldn't hit me 😂

Nothing is best or fav. in my opinion. Each god is best with the right aspect and the right weapon.
Best build with boon:
1) Aspect of eris + zeus or artemis attack + no reload hammer.
2) Aspect of rama + aphrodite attack + dionysis or ares special + (+4 spl) hammer.
3) Aspect of lucifer + zeus or demeter attack + ares spl. + no reload hammer.
4) Aspect of chiron + Dionysius spl. + (+4 spl.) Hammer + hermes faster special boon.
5) Aspect of beowulf + poseidon special + artemis or ares cast + choas additional cast boon + dash strike armour hammer.
6). Aspect of nemesis + ares attack + artemis special + thrust damage hammer. ( Never ever try to pick the chop attack hammer,...worst ever decision...it'll ruin the aspect attack)
Note : try using pom as much as possible or try choosing persophone's keepsake for every chambers. Gives best results when boons upgraded to the fullest.

We have to choose different boons. Because she has a slightly different fighting style then me. So even if I didn’t agree with a placement of a god. Poseidon is personally my least favorite. Knock away powers are terrible for close range weapons, especially fighting enemies in the middle of an open area, I choose him mostly to farm gems
That dash just dominates styx though. I felt the same way about him for a long time but I like him a lot more now obviously!
Artemis is DPS for the cautious. Athena is DPS for the tactical. Aphrodite is DPS for the oafish.

Aphro is my favorite and least favorite god at the same time.
On one hand, she is practically one of the best champs to have in most builds. She’s an immediate status proc, has the highest base damage multiplier on attacks, and some of the best duos in the game (smoldering air, heart-rend, curse of longing, low tolerance)
On the other hand, her other “support” are pretty bad/boring. Other than more damage against weak, who actually cares about “longer weak duration” or tiny amounts of damage reduction?
I’d probably place her higher on the basis that her duos are always great, but damn, it sucks when she gives you all of the other shitty support boons

Is Low Tolerance that bad tho? A lot of the aspects I would use Dio on could easily get to 8 stacks, and while I would want to have Ares first for Nausea, there aren’t a lot of other ways to boost Hangover damage right? The only alternative I would see would be having Artemis with PP or Artemis/Dio duo

Honestly the only thing that Poseidon is good with in my opinion is giving gold, I just think that the knockback is just too specific and only ever useful in Styx which is the place that you attain generally because you already had a good build to attain it and is absolutely useless against every boss of the game
I'll wait til next vid to tell you about my craziest run I just had like my build was so busted op that it trivialized the need to think focus and strategize to beat hades and you could just press buttons and win

I'd say this list is pretty good. I think for veteran players not so much, for new players it's accurate. I think Artemis is S, Hermes is S, Athena is A tier or B tier, Dionysus is A tier, everything else I agree with. Good video though solid points across the board 👍
That is probably fair. I'm usually thinking about new and intermediate players

I don't know if I agree with the idea that you just want to ignore damage altogether. Uh during the early game and I guess like just like through the normal play thru of the game yeah but once I got to the point where I was like Speed running at just making a normal run like at least once A-day It didn't really matter to me that I was taking damage because I was going to kill them faster anyways. It got to the point where I stopped trying to Dodge dad's laser and just started dashing at him because I did more damage it was probably gonna kill him
Artemis Poseidon and Aphrodite are my favorite, Ares and Athena are right below them
The only thing id change is that Poseidon is still D tier sure he has SOME great boons but most of the other ones are doo doo at least in my opinion and Artemis is definitively S tier no questions asked because most if not everything us useful when it comes to her

@@JawlessPaul true true and tbh im probably underestimating Zeus and Dionysus, stacked lightning boons at the start can go a long way, same with stuns and status weaknesses like crowd control later on
Why would anyone get aphordite instead of Athena? Athena is just better Aphrodite
Aphrodite has better damage though, but yeah, deflect is super strong. In Hades 2 they removed it from the game, probably because they realized it was the simplest way to beat the game

Id put Aphrodite and Dionysus above Ares. The Doom procs too slowly to be useful and blades are yoo hard to aim
Fair enough! The damage can scale up quite high for both blades and doom though. Try and find merciful end and hunting blades duo boons some time :)

Interesting to see Demeter in b tier, personally I try to stay away from her. The slow down is nice but I don't really like a lot of her boons especially her cast.
The slow is a great mechanic for when you are learning fights. I agree the cast can feel underwhelming with no burst
@@JawlessPaul she does have that one duo boon with Artemis that makes them way more useable. It actually makes it my second favorite cast but unless your lucky getting that duo boon takes a while to get.

I’m shocked Zeus isn’t higher, he has so many great duos. Besides Sea Storm, there’s Smoldering Air, Lightning Rod, Scintillating Feast, Cold Fusion. Plus his Legendary. Sure there are some other great non-Zeus duos like Merciful End but in mind no other god has that powerful a lineup of duos.

Bruh, dio & ares are at least A tier, if not lower S tier. Doom + aspect of gilgamesh max, you can basically dash-uppercut your way to hades
Also, artemis is sh*te. Crit chance is not dependable. Yea you can hit for 4000+ on the 3rd swing from stygius aspect of arthur, but can you count on it, when you are facing 2nd phase hades?

It's actually pretty dependable if you find Hunter's Mark. I actually don't prefer crit with slow weapons because yeah the number is bigger, but the small chip damage is great and if it crits it's so much better. It triples the damage, which just can't be ignored. The more you use Artemis, the more you notice just how much additional damage you are able to do.
