Matt finally pulls his Corvette out of winter hibernation with a new set of HRE FlowForm FF01 Wheels on Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires! We do a full run down Latigo Canyon Road, one of Malibu's finest and most technical driving roads to see how the car is doing. - Авто та транспорт
And... he sold it.
Days like that are some of the happiest days of my life. It's almost therapeutic with the nice weather, amazing sounds and manual transmission. My family thinks I'm just an immature manic that wants to race, but I truly just enjoy whipping through canyons like this. I drive exactly like Matt - right to the limit but not an inch further. I'm shopping for a C5 right now and I can't freaking wait. One of these days I'm taking the trip out to this road in my C5.
"I'll never sell this car" well I guess we can't trust Matt anymore :(
one of my favorite if not my favorite one take you've ever done Matt! car sound's beautiful and its so well sorted
It's amazing how modern the C5 looks with the new wheels and headlights.
those headlights are a blasphemy
Thanks for doing this one. I've always loved your C5.
Thank you Matt. This is what we all love cars for. They simply put a smile on our faces. Thanks for sharing. We dont mind the one takes. It is what it is.
Watching Matt for years. Love his cars, love his work. Hope he sees this and knows there are genuine people who like him:)
Drove this road today. It is simply amazing!! Super, super technical. Probably more technical than anything that I have seen in France, Germany or Switzerland.
TheSmokingTire Jesus those wheels man crazy. So glad you still have the corvette. Corvettes are just so amazing one of the best cars out there.
xarnoldx10 I also see where your coming from with the build quality. In my opinion though the materials maybe aren't the best but i do feel as if it was put together very well and on top of that built to last for high mileage.
Sometimes with seeing the cars that he drives, I think that I should've been born with my siblings in the 80s. But then I think again about how if I never had videos like this I wouldn't have the passion I have for cars today. Because of that I thank you Farah, you're the man.
new set pads, and I'm going up there..this was absolutely amazing. thank you sir!
This was one of the most enjoyable videos I've ever watched on UA-cam. My god, how I want to take my own car up and down those hills. Sadly, we don't have anything like that in the Mid-West.
That's a nicely done C5! Looks sick!
This is the best video you’ve ever done. Love the long drive and the commentary. Thanks Matt. Appreciate your work and we all hope you’re making great money . =). All the best!
This is awesome to watch. Thank you Matt! I hope the atmospheric V8 won't die. Ever.
This is my favorite car you've driven :)
Hey Matt, next time your in the SD area, if you haven't yet, Highland Valley Rd. in Ramona, CA San Diego County, is a very fun drive. I think you would like it a lot. Very nice wheels btw!!
This Video is exactly why a C5 is still my dream car!! You do such a good job of showing what the corvette is all about!! In fact this exact Corvette is my ideal corvette a perfectly balanced car!! I will totally be using this for my project when it happens in life!!
Hell yea, glad the C5 is back up and running strong like bull.
Fun to watch Matt smashing on this road. Looks like an amazing road!
the c5 was a huge leap ahead compared to the c4. I still love how they look.
yeah the c4 was just dogshit tbh.The c4 zr1 is the only one that is worth buying.
@@alpe6228 easy to say over 30 years later but consider the context of late 80s/early 90s.. and the C4 could pull over 1g even back then.
You should do a one take for all your cars. Very nice Vette btw!
Sounds amazing! I love listening to that. Nice job Matt.
by far the best video you've ever made. gave me so much joy to see you enjoy your own car.
I really love that car.
I feel like a concave wheels in the back would have looked splendid. I see lots of cars with wheels that are flat in the front and then have a concave design in the back. Nonetheless, they look really great.
***** you can't do that with a Corvette. It has strange offsets that prevent you from running wheels like that without them sticking out past the body lines.
TheSmokingTire Ahh I see. Sucks. I think they would look great without doing the whole StanceNation-poke thing.
TheSmokingTire Soooo.. widebody? yeah.. widebody. mmmmmmmmmm
Ali Ahadi sounds like a good explanation.
I really enjoyed seeing you just gush over your car. Good job with it! Keep em coming!
So far my favorite one take. Great video Matt keep up the amazing work!!!
love the corvette
Is this Matt Farah's million mile Lexus ?
Yup
Che1seabluesdrogba11 HAHAHAHAHA
speaking about his cars, he does not own the fiesta st any more?
i think he just stopped comparing everything with the fiesta
omar fuller it is not on his wheelwell profile
Matt I am ever impressed by how courteous of a driver you are. Letting that Mini turn first and not bombing by those houses. Impressed sir.
That's living the life.... It's not always about having the most power but the best balance. I mostly drag race but canyon driving is by far the most fun and involving. Great video n the wheels look great!
I was always under the impression that forged metal is stronger than cast, although casting allows for more intricate details and alternative alloys that normally do not forge well
Me to
Forged in terms of engine blocks, pistons, cranks, etc is better for sure. When you're talking wheels though, forged can get real expensive (just look at some of the styles especially matt's). Cast wheels done right will be lighter, and as long as you're not aiming for mid west pot holes I'd say they're probably the strongest wheels for the price and weight.
It is. Alignment of the grain vs scattered in castings, this can also allow for the use of less metal with comparative strength and hence a lighter part
Great road. Reminds me of Advocate Harbour in Nova Scotia - minus the multimillion dollar homes lol.
Awesome vid, forgot how much I love your vette. Loved the longer vid too, felt like I was just chillin' in the car enjoying the canyons, great stuff sir.
Nice set of wheels, nice car you have, Matt. Keep going with the excellent job you're doing!
Do you still like the aftermarket headlight housings? I personally love pop up headlights.
Removing glorious pop ups is sacrilege.
10:00 Well, that quote lasted less than 2 years, lol
This channel is making me want to move to California. I'm still under 2 ft of snow on the east coast... And those roads are just wonderful - What a place to drive!
Great stuff as always. Happy to see the Vette going strong again!
TheSmokingTire God damn that thing sounds absolutely god like man. Im so happy you made this video!! ive missed this thing... and has made me really want to buy this exact year of the corvette over the 01 Cobra i was looking at. Is there a specific year in the C5's you would recommend personally? Thanks again!!
Dorian W. With a C5, they added more features down the road like Magnetic ride and heads up display. Buy the newest one you can afford.
Dorian W. really? 01 cobra vs c5 vette? at least compare the c5 to a termi not a 99-01
ljgamer it all depends with in budget for me man. If i can find a termi for around 18-20 grand ill for sure do a termi. They arent common where im from and they are high priced when you do find them. But trust me id loooove a termi.
TheSmokingTire thanks! Looking at an 02 navy blue full load in Vancouver this weekend! Completely stock and one owner by an older gentlemen who just snagged a new z06.
Your wheels look great, thanks for the tip!
Dorian W. I agree it sounds wonderful. I have a 99 C5 I have put over 100k miles on and I never thought about doing an exhuast system on it until now.
You should make more videos about your corvette.
Nice road, nice ride. That sound reminds me of a grumpy old muscle car. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you're finally getting to enjoy the Vette again. Great video.
Hey Matt love the wheels on that C5, I'm looking at getting some HRE's for my C7 but can't find a set I'm really in love with. Just wondering have you thought about getting a new vette at all? Sorry if you've already answered this but I'd just like to hear your opinion on the Stingray. Thanks!
Street Speed 717 The new stingray is awesome. But I've already got one vette and don't feel the need for another.
Makes sense, your C5 looks incredible. Thanks for the reply!
I just came from watching one of your vids 😂😂 I'm subbed to you
Daniyal S. Thanks man I appreciate it!
@@StreetSpeed717 buy another c5 and make it a track car pls
Damn those wheels are hot but I would of preferred the rear one be deep dish wheels but that's just me.
TheSmokingTire Easter miracles do happen! Thanks for sharing the drive. Can't wait until I can take a 2003 Z06 out! Have a great week!
wow, best clean-looking C5 I've ever seen!
Axl Rose's driveway on the right side of the road 14:07
how do u know
I looked it up. Search for axle rose house and u will see that it is on Latigo.
whos 4800 Latigo Canyon Rd
Malibu, CA 90265
You look like Matt Farrah from /Drive
You drive a lot of amazing cars. It looks like this older vette is still due a lot of respect!
I may not be a vette person, but that car sounds fantastic. It's just a pleasing pitch, so sonorous and deep. Like it's roaring not screaming.
Chevy nailed the looks with the C5! Looks better than the new one in my opinion.
The very famous celebrity is Axl Rose btw
great sound! good package all around, nothing is overdone. Another great video!
I loved the video Matt, I'm gonna watch it again!!
dynamat those doors!
Matt, when your Foxy Mustang is finally finished up, are you gonna buy a bigger garage or is one of the cars going to be left in the driveway? And has anyone ever mentioned that the headlight setup you have on your Vette makes the front-end look like a late model NSX?
I have a warehouse where I keep my cars. Only my DD lives at my house.
TheSmokingTire Is Paul Walker's style of storage with the car lifts an inspiration of what you have going?
@thesmokingtire nice wheels, what car do you use as a daily driver?
***** volt
quickguesswho His sister has it, he DD's the million mile lexus now.
Wheels are looking great Matt! And the Vette sounds incredible, really makes me excited to either start modifying my car or waiting until I get my next one TheSmokingTire
Thank you for reminding me why living in Missouri sucks!
Looks like you could have had more meat on the rear wheels
RetiefGoosen i can. I re-used the tires I had before, lots of life left in them. Probably go up to 305's with my next set.
Excellent, loved the video.
Not usually a fan of Vettes but DAMN. Your vette just seems to be so well sorted, and there is something about HRE's that just catches the eye. love it
Awesome to see a video with a car you love so much!
what kind of an animal removes the flip ups on a corvette?
+Ryan Barbolt He did it because it started to effect aerodynamics at night
+851995STARGATE he owns 15 cars, drive a different one at night. Seriously, though, I hate these. I saw some on c5s I've been looking at. But we all have different tastes.
rrpostalagain
No according to his wheel well he owns 7
+851995STARGATE I was being a smart ass.
Wait what?! he owns 7 cars?!!!
What's the cost of those wheels?
R Dixon around $3,000
TheSmokingTire Thank you, those look great on your car, that's expensive but not as bad as I was expecting is that just the wheels or is it wheels and tires?
R Dixon I am guessing just the wheels
R Dixon just the wheels.
TheSmokingTire change your wheels on wheelwell it still has old wheels listed
I had the biggest smile on my face this whole video haha. I can't imagine what its like to be behind the actual wheel! Nice car Matt!
Always loved this car Matt. Keep giving us updates it is so cool to see your personal cars on the channel. Ford and Chevy guy :D
Put the pop ups back on!
No good road in Illinois that I know of hate this place
Galena?
Lots of great road in Illinois . Get lost then. Less tacos the better.
Gabriel Castro you bring up a fair point I should head there more often
thomascampr mind sharing location? Hahaha ignorant fuck
Anything closer to the Illinois-Indiana border, just south of Chicago?
I LOVE my German muscle, but holy hell does the Corvette have a special place in my heart. What a damn well setup C5 Z06 you've got there, Matt. I would drive that beast any day of the week, street or track. Much love!
That exhaust sounds MEAN! I love it!
thanks for respecting cyclists. :) people bash on cyclists all the time, hopefully they can learn a lesson from you.
+Daniel Bipatnath Cyclist bring the bashing onto themselves. Don't scream "share the road"...then ride 15mph in the middle of the lane, and expect everybody to stay in 1st gear behind you, without wanting to drive right through your back.
there is good in bad in everyone
+Sahadi420 this 👍🏼
the problem with cyclists is that they really think cars and bikes are on equal ground. I'm always careful around cyclists but they forget that they can die from a collision that doesn't even dent a car.
Most cyclists I see are completely oblivious. They make erratic lane changes without any hand signals and then get mad when you have to slam on the brakes or make some other evasive maneuver to avoid crushing them.
In my opinion, your previous wheels looked better.
me too. because they had that nice fat lip. Creating that lip to make them look so cool is why they kept cracking, and a wheel that can't stay round is just about as useless as anything I can think of.
TheSmokingTire True. Why did you pick this color though? Did you just want something fresh, or do you really think this color looks a lot better?
TheSmokingTire those fast and furious style nitrous buttons seem pretty useless. Not hating on another Corvette owner just found comedy in it
TheSmokingTire and the black and those bolts looked cool lol
TheSmokingTire They were carbon fibre, too, if I recall correctly. Not the sort of wheels you want to chip and have to drive in the soaking rain.
What an exhaust! Good to see you driving the Vette again
YES LOL YES so true the sound of a well made door closing is music to my ears, I thought I was the only one
You know, for having relatively good taste in cars/ mods... I can't believe you went with those terrible frog eyed headlight covers!
Li
Is this the same Corvette that the chick called a Ferrari?
JustLetMeComment yeah
JustLetMeComment This is unrelated but I have a Suzuki Samurai that people think is a Land Rover all the time(due to cosmetic changes). Once in a McDonalds drive through the cashier asked if it was a Willy's which to this day I don't understand (I can see the Land Rover mistake but a Willy's?). Some people don't have any idea what they are talking about.
That is a really nice car, Matt! Enjoyed the video, thanks a lot!
I've never heard a Corvette sound like that! It's sonorously glorious! It's the epitome exhaust note...a rich and full burble, with the right amount of what I call a throaty "Monza"-style snarl, if that makes any sense. And while some presenters' style of driving can almost make you car sick just by their video footage, the driving in this video was quite smooth and easy to watch. Good job, Matt. You lucky SOB.
You could have filmed the way back too, could watch this all day. Mat you are living the dream, wish one day i could drive a great sports car like the vet on such nice roads and canyons...
Thanks for the video!
That car is a monster! Well done!
Couldn't stop looking at that sweet Mustang parked next to the C5. Nice wheels BTW. Congratulations.
Every time I visit California, I always make it a point to drive this road, it's beautiful. I haven't missed it once yet!
That's a beauty! Nice tasteful mods & sounds great!, I personally think the C5 gen looks the best
Man that road is awesome. Great car, great video once again!
Great vid, love the sound of the vette!!!
Glad to see the vette back on the road. Nice video Matt!
Damn that Vette sounds good! Loved this video. Oh and the new wheels look epic, good stuff Matt!
TheSmokingTire I've been wondering where this beast was . Glad to see it's still alive. Watched the whole video, unbelievable. That thing sounds like a monster!!! Beautiful car man, great job. Those rims look sick man!!!
Looks great and sounds even better
Those wheels are lookin' really slick! Awesome car.
You drive all types of cars so it's cool seeing you having a blast in your c5. I have a 02 c5 and the interior feels like it will fall apart any minute, yet the relative simplicity compared to modern cars is awesome. V8 that makes cool noises and 6 speed with none of that rev match nonsense, it's great!!
And the wheels are slick man. Congrats.
Wheels AND that road look great!
Great choice of wheels Matt! Looks awesome!
Vey nice car matt, love the sound and the wheels look awesome. oh and your One Takes are very addictive to watch.
One Takes. Quite Possibly my favorite series on UA-cam.
The exhaust sounds very exotic!
I drove this road a few times one late afternoon in my friend's mom's bmw z3. Such an awesome road.
What a beautiful driving road.
