Saludos!
I have spent around $20 learning Chinese. I have been studying for a little over a year. However, the first 9-10 months I didn't really do much speaking. I started speaking every day about 45 days ago. I talked with 2 teachers on iTalki. However, now I just talk to people in real life or Hello Talk. My goal is to be fluent which I think will take me 1-2 more years since I'm learning multiple languages at once.
In the end it depends how you're learning. Casual is more about the mindset. Is it something that you're committed to doing no matter what or just learn when it's convenient
Being casual in the sense of going with the flow and not putting too much pressure on ourselves, as long as we stay consistent. Without letting it become so casual that we miss days. I get what you're saying now.

Keep it up! You're on the right track.
What's considered casual? 1 hour a day?

One hour a day is no small amount!
