I wanted a tough over built pocket knife. I did not know if I should go with the AD10 or 4-Max. In this video I explain the difference between the 2 knives. I also wanted to explain the difference between these Cold Steel knives because in the next video I try to use the 4-Max as a throwing knife.
Also watch my video, Can I throw a pocket knife?

I EDC the Scout. It's perfectly fine...a may get an AD10 as a low profile knife at some point though.
Thank you for your reviews! I just subscribed to your channel!
You should check out the 5max
Wow, I had no idea they now have a 5max. The 4max is usually too heavy for a pocket. I slide it into a backpack most the time. I wonder what the 5max feels like.
Well, apparently I'm a total Andrew Demko simp cuz i have an AD22 in my glove box of my car, a 4-max scout in my backpack (that i carry every day like most people carry a wallet, cuz i need a lot of shit in my job) , and an AD 20.5 in S35vn in my pocket :)
I have a Finn Wolff. Great EDC
Didn't like the forward weight bias / balance on the 4 max scout, or the skinny handle. Can't afford 4 max elite. Almost perfect AD - 10 it is then !!
(Oh, and an AD - 15 LITE too, just becos, becos Cold Steel!)
COLD STEEL
U should do a cold steel sword video. Like ik this is a knife channel but swords r lowkey cooler ngl
Maybe I should do a video about throwing a sword?
No yeah fs do it. Like Frong would be so baller ngl
I gonna buy the knife I don't need!
Scout is all steel - the lock, backspacer, liners, pocket clip, there's zero Titanium "mechanism" in it.
The spacer is plastic. The lock looks titanium but it is possible it's steel stained like titanium. I just don't know.
@@halfspinelite has all titanium hardware, backspace, clip, etc.
@@halfspin Elite has steel lock bar and titanium liners + backspacer + clip. You can actually see the metal color difference between the lock bar and the liners or the spacer since they are close to one another. My guess for leaving the lock bar being steel is that triad lock requires very precise machining of the locking parts with very small tollerances and steel is much easier to machine to that level. Even on the original custom Demko 4max, the lock bar is steel.
odd opinion on the 4 max 😬
I've always appreciated coldsteel for their strength and overall quality. I've been collecting them for many years. Their old American made carbon v fixed blades were seriously hard to beat. Locks on their folders have always been strong and the tri-ad lock takes it to a whole other level. However I have not purchased anything by them since Lynn Thompson sold the company. I'm sure they're fine but I'll have to handle some of the new stuff before I fully trust. I do however like the G10 scales on that Taiwan made 4max elite. my old American made one has plain grey. I also have the AD10 and the 15. both great folders and much better size. Have a great weekend buddy.👍
I think so too..AD 10 much better size and comfort than the 4 Max
i would never buy a knife as expansive as the Elite, knowing that i will not use it. i am that type of person, i own 2x Leatherman Surge for edc and sometimes use a lesser Gerber, 2x OlightBaton3... at knifes i did well, i bought the 4MaxScout knowing i will not use a real expansive variant. 4maxscout is more expansive in Europe, anyway!
I don’t know how strong is 4max but the 4max scout is almost indestructible (watch the “joeX” test) so the scout is the best choice pricewise I think. It’s heavy but that is the only flaw. Im using olight baton 2 ans LM Wave, both excellent stuff.
@@zoltan2728 thank you. i know, i own it from some time.
AD10 would not be legal in the State of Delaware as the blade exceeds 3”. Check your states knife laws.
Would have been a more informative video if you’d mentioned a few specifics at the right places. A big difference is the steel, but you didn’t tell us what steels were used. You made a big deal of the handle materials as well, but didn’t mention what they were. Anyone who knows a bit about knives would have appreciated those details. Hope that helps!
As you can tell, I am a knife thrower and spend a lot of time with throwing knives but dont really review pocket knives. Thanks for the feedback.
@@halfspinBut then, you did. Good points he made. Impt info for a knife collector / user / prospective customer ...
