- I hear people say all the time that there aren't any new bands making good music these days... but THEY'RE WRONG. It's out there, you just need to find it. Join Trevor from the Krash Kourse Metal Show and I as we talk about 10 Modern bands keeping the 80s sound alive... come along for the ride!
This was fun representing my era of “hair” and “sleaze”metal! Cheers guru 🤘
Hell, yeah, brother, it was great having you on!
Great to see Krash on the channel again. Awesome selection of new bands to be discovered.
Thanks, Brother. I suppose I'll have to invite his junior high ass on the show again at some point...
God bless folks like you, Guru, Krash Kourse, and others for keeping these types of artists in the music conversation! You’ve definitely turned me onto some great new (and old but new to me) hard rock and metal bands! This episode alone got me hooked on Sabire! Ice Cold Lust is a bad ass song! Ordering the CD today!
Dirty Honey , Another Last Time and the new song You Make It Alright , absolutely brilliant for any decade or genre . The lead singer is up there with that Cyborg Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons .
I know of Dirty Honey, but I'm not sure I've listened to 'em. Thanks for the recommendation, Brother.
Great Band
I saw them open for the Black Crowes , few years back . Think they have 3 Records , Each getting stronger .
If you want a band that breaths the 80s, check out Cobra Spell. These ladies tear it up. Lyrically, they bring every 80s cliche about sex.. from a female perspective … with a smattering of pop satanism. The songs are crazy catchy and the playing is top notch.
I forgot about them. They're awesome. Kinda like Aerosmith 70s sound.
Great picks. Some I’d recommend:
Supagroup
The Wild!
Wig Wam
Crazy Lixx
Silvertide
Kissin’ Dynamite
Humbucker
La Chinga
Dirty Honey
Kick ass selection of more great bands.
I believe after 2000 there are countless really great albums and bands. Great to see here Gemini Five and Million Dollar Reload. My recommendation:
Punk/Sleaze:
Backyard Babies - Making Enemies is Good
The Wildhearts - ¡Chutzpah!
Harder Rock/Metal:
Striker - Play To Win
Eden’s Curse - s/t
Hard rock:
Bulletrain - What You Fear The Most
Melodic rock/AOR
Miss Behavior - Last Woman Standing (maybe the best album after 2000)
Justin Hawkins has an awesome UA-cam channel.
Yeah, it's really cool, I've watched his stuff a few times.
Here are some of the bands I’ve recently discovered and enjoy. Some are from the early 2000’s while others are new or newer bands and just a very brief description.
Nasty Idols (sleaze metal, LA Guns)
One Gun Shy (straight up hard rock)
Sweet Oblivion (Geoff Tate guest vocals)
Misery (Dokken, Lynch Mob)
Circle II Circle (Savatage Zachary Stevens on vocals)
Sven Gali (Saigon Kick)
Dark Mile (Lynch Mob guitar licks)
Human Code (Christian hard rock)
Maverick (Warrant)
Wanted (Skid Row, Pyn Siren)
Rock Boulevard (Firehouse, big hooks gang vocals, party anthems)
Fierce Heart (melodic hard rock, AOR with a bit of grit)
Wish you guys would list the bands & albums on the description so we could check all the bands out quickly without the filler.
I see your point, but we took a lot of time putting all that "filler" together. My goal is that you would watch the video.
Awesome show guys !! Trevor...love seeing a younger guy with the enthusiasm for this shit & I'm gonna check out your channel. One I remember from 2008/2009 maybe would be "Freakshow". Loved that song called Everyone. Still jam that tune. Thanks for the great watch !!
Great debut album ! I interviewed Ronnie from Freakshow a few years ago 🤘
@krashkoursemetalshow Right on brother 🤘
My 5 off the top of my head?
H.E.A.T - Address The Nation
Wig Wam - Wigwamania
Crazy Lixx - New Religion
Pink Cream 69 - Thunderdome
Nelson - Lightning Strikes Twice
Couple of new bands to me mentioned, gonna have to check' em out! There's a couple bands I'm VERY surprised didn't make the list for one of you guys Wigwam, Peppermint Creeps and Stop, Stop! Those 3 are absolutely worth knowing :) Trashcan Darlings, Midnight Devil's, Santa Cruz, Loud N' Nasty, Reckless Love, Crashdiet and Robin Black & The Intergalactic Rock Stars!
I talk about most of those bands on my channel and yes , stop stop are my boys ! Had them on for a fun interview 🤘
CRASH DIET is my favorite modern sleaze metal from the 2000s
I liked the second EVERY MOTHER NIGHTMARE more than the debut. Same with TUFF. I do like the debut but the second was at least as good and that one is also from 94 or so. Cool video with some love for newer records. Need to check some of the out. Some of my fave of today are SISTER, CONFESS, CRASHDIET and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR. All bands from Sweden i think. All 80s influences hard&heavy with some glam touches too.
1990 Mothers Nightmare Debut
We were mainly going with 21st Century Bands that weren't part of the hey day. I love that album, though.
These are bands that I’ve always felt that fits the bill for me.
1. Halestorm. Lzzy has been flying the flag for rock and metal for years now. She’s admitted being influenced by Cinderella, skid row and Van Halen. Saw them live a few years ago and they were fantastic
2. Bad city- welcome to the wasteland. Love this album
3. Lynam- slave to the machine might be my favorite album of theirs. Jacob Benton is awesome
4. The last Vegas
5. Charm city devils. Their singer John used to play drums for a band called child’s play that was released in 1990 awesome stuff
6. Royal bliss. Great band from Utah
7. Adam smash. Their debut might be my favorite
8. Adelitis way. Saw them open for Halestorm and they were great
9. Voodoo six. I only have their first two albums
10. Aces high- I just heard this one recently
11. Dirty honey is great
12. Eve to Adam- they just released a new album this year
13. Aranda- love this band
14. Black stone cherry. Another great live band
15. Hinder. They’ve put out some good stuff.
I know some of these bands aren’t exactly sleaze but still great rock bands that I feel are great and deserve a listen. Another cool episode 👍🏼
Always been a fan of Lyman , charm city and bsc 🤘
Great video, if only These bands or rock in general was given a chance or promoted again in any way that would be great. There's a lot of good newer bands that deserve attention, rock is never given that anymore though. Something is preventing it from coming back, I hate to see it. Thanks for this video, always enjoy hearing your thoughts.
Hey, Brother, thank YOU for always watching and supporting the channel. Seriously, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, almost any new rock band is going to get less promotion from the mainstream media, so they're always starting two steps behind. Hopefully a label or some radio station takes a chance and really gives a new band a shot to succeed.
All the old popular bands of the past got "promoted" because they got signed to a big label that then spent tons of money on them to promote them. They had a team around them and they barely had to do anything other than play. With that all gone you have to find new and different ways to promote yourself and sadly its too much work and effort for a lot of people to do it all by themselves. Its literally a full time job when you already have a regular full time job. You literally got be posting on social media everyday providing consistent content and not everyone wants to do that. Even if you do that theres no guarantees of major success.
Also, the mainstream media hates hard rock and rock in general unless its certain subgenres so they arent going to help you out and give you promotion. Youre lucky to get smaller rock music specific outlets to help you and thats all you get.
Sabire is interesting. They are certainly going for that old school 80s production. The guitar tone reminds me of early W.A.S.P ,Celtic Frost and Icon. I can certainly see why some folks have a problem with all the reverb, but it’s not that big a deal for me….It makes them stand out. I’m still making my way through the album, but so far, I like it.
Thanks Guru.
One more band. I love the Struts. They have everything going on. Reminds me of a modern day Queen.
“You Spin Me Round” was by Dead or Alive. Dead Can Dance is a great world music fusion band (albeit worlds away from hair metal).
As a Brit i find it hilarious that three hours away from you in the US is considered local. I live in the north west of England and three hours away is London, which is like another country!
I like Icarus Witch but haven't heard that album. The only one i have heard is Rise.
Great show guys!!! I have 3 modern bands that are 80s style for you guys of course don't know if you've heard of them, but they are Striker, Hitten and Nestor. All Incredible bands!!!
Shit, I have not heard of any of those bands. Thanks for the recommendations! Gonna check these out tonight.
@@HairMetalGuru419 Did you get a chance to check them out?? Striker is killer!!! Check out the new video "Live to fight another Day" it's brand new.
Y'all should check out Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, Cruzh, H.E.A.T., Hell in the Club, Kissin' Dynamite, Midnite City, Reckless Love, and Tango Down!
I've listened to Crazy Lizz and Crash Diet. You're the 2nd person to recommend Hell in the Club, haha. And the other ones I need to look into... thanks for the recommendations, Brother, I appreciate it!
Good list 🤘
@@HairMetalGuru419 and most of those bands are still together and putting out new music regularly!
@@krashkoursemetalshow thanks! I forgot about Hardcore Superstar, Vypera, and Temple Balls!
Great show ! Check out a band called Last Vegas i think they only have one album out !
Yes goood band , vocals remind me alittle but of Tesla. I think they have 4 albums actually 🤘
@@krashkoursemetalshow i will have to check on there other stuff really enjoy that debut album !
Please look in the Swedish band Eclipe. They are the best band that could have survived in the 80s and 90s. Great lyrics, singing, and music. Maybe they've covered the but I'm new to this channel.
1. Enforcer 2. Skullfist 3.Evil Invaders 4.Raptore 5. Hitten 6.White Wizzard just to name a few other great bands from the NWOTHM scene since you mentioned Bullet - also check out a UK band called Jayler (look up their videos for No Woman and Take Me Home).- there are literally hundreds more kick ass metal and rock bands out ther just gotta dig for it
Spin you round is by dead or alive
Shit, I was close.
Paralandra. Not really that "sleazy" per say but its 80s hard rock inspired and the singer is doing a album with George Lynch. Also check out Pete's Diary who put out their debut album in June. Very AC/DC inspired and Tracii Guns played on their album.
(Other Trevor here...) "Technically" Danger Kitty was the precursor to Steel Panther 🤑😝
Check out the new band wanted from Michigan. Young guys sounds like icon .
Shit, sounds awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks, man.
@@HairMetalGuru419 love the show
Nice !
New American Shame is great, got that when it came out.
New ones you are missing is Last Vegas Band and Deraps. Both are throwbacks to the 80's Sunset Strip days
Shit, I love The Last Vegas. Good calls. I've heard of Deraps, but not sure I've listened to 'em... thanks for the recommendation, man.
This is James Anthony I agree with you their are always new bands out their to be listened to their are bands from the 80s that is never heard of and now I'm listening to thanks to yoy my brother their are always new music out their to be found enjoyed the video never stop the rock my brother
Great attitude to have James 🤘
@@krashkoursemetalshow thank you
Thanks, James, I appreciate it, Brother.
@@HairMetalGuru419 anytime my brother
I recommend the album babylons burning by babylon bombs and distorted nation by Underride.
Also check out the supergroup collaboration The Local Band. They have a CD of covers. Sunglasses at night, and Untouched are the videos on UA-cam. It’s members of Reckless Love and Santa Cruz.
Awesome, I'll see if I can find their stuff, thanks, man.
Is that the one with alexio from children of bodom. ?
here we go!! HELL YEAH!!!!
Hell to the YEAH
🤘
Check out a band called madhouse song down and dirty. Definitely worth checking out.

Crazy lixx is one id recommend
If you love million dollar reload check koritni album game of fools got a ac dc feel to it
I think I've heard of them, but not sure if I've checked em out--thanks for the reminder.
Why buckcherry didnt appear in this list???
Very valid question.
@@HairMetalGuru419 good band but dosent everyone know them already ? Lol
Check out midnight devils
I think I've heard that name, but I'll check 'em out. Thanks, man.
Fun band 🤘
Got to interview sam , cool guy as well 🤘
Not sure that "Modern" means groups from 20 years ago. I would put Gunshine at #1 for keeping sleeze rock alive. Dirty Honeys as well. Look atGunshine - Wall said to call
When you're my age, anything in the 2000s qualifies as "modern."
@@HairMetalGuru419 I'm 48 this year. I get what you are saying. Much love
Even to me 10 years ago feels like 2008 😂
@@toddgambrel4316 Appreciate it, Brother.
Sorry, Eclipse
Million Dollar Reload change their name to Blackwater Conspiracy
Shit, that's right. Have they put anything out that you know of?
Just found some stuff on UA-cam...
What about Buckcherry?
@@johnpierce4976 well if you include Buck Cherry you have to include Silvertide too. Their debut Show & Tell was awesome. Nik Perry has his own band now Nik Perry and the Underground Thieves. It’s more 70’s hippie music but the guy can play some blues guitar.
Valid question. No reason I didn't include them... and I'm a big fan as well. Just picked 5 that I liked and went with them. But we should cover them at some point.
They arent modern, dude. I get when you get old you think 1999 is modern but its just not. 25 years is a long time.
@@mikeb.7183Show & Tell is an amazing album!
