I have a 2003 F4i with 80.000km on it and it still runs super-strong. Engine compression around 170psi on each cylinder. The only thing that needs attention on this model is the camchain tensioner. They do not last very long compared to other models. There is a guy here on youtube who made 300.000miles on an F4i like this. It is now a cheap, pretty good looking, pretty comfortable and very reliable bike. And still quite strong to keep up with any modern sportbike when you equip it with a good rider :)))
I have a 2005 CBR600F4I. No centrestand and only 1 headlight operates on low beam which looks really odd. Apart from that, the bike is simply fantastic. It does everything beautifully with the exception of taking off on a turn because there is virtually no low down torque. Still love it to death though. And she looks damn sexy! 😍
The thing I disagree with the most is the notion that "Every bike should have a digital speedo", my bike has a digital speedo and I would change it to an analogue speedo in a heartbeat. He said "Imagine trying to read these numbers at speed" as though you would need to, surely you should know where the numbers are on your speedo, so you would only need to know where the needle is pointing and your peripheral vision can take care of that, whereas with a digital speedo you have to take your eyes off the road to read it.
My bike has analogue, my 125 had digital, I want my digital display back. And at speed you're better off just concentrating rather than checking your speed to gloat later lol
Awesome bike I've a 2002 use it for work everyday for the last 10 years. 70k+ miles and has nothing wrong with it apart from the regulator witch went after 25k I think. Best upgrades are bar raisers to make it more ergonomic for long distance and a rear hugger which are cheap so worth it if you ride in the rain like me. Change that oil after 2k much longer and the cam chain will suffer, keep the chain lubed and acf 50. even if it lives outside like mine it's still in great condition, ok not show room but buffs up nice and doesn't look too out of place amoung larger newer bikes even after 22 years. It sees the mechanic for a January and July service usually 4 hours £240. Even the tyres last a fair amount as the bike isn't that heavy despite its larger look. It's no 990 super duke in the Torque department but gets by.
another difference from the F to the FS (or F4i) are the suspensions..the internals on the "sport" versions is totaly different..the gearing isnt the same also, not only the rear sprocket..and frame, swing arm, and fork are painted..
bought a MIVV exhaust on my bike, i dont give a single shit about my neighbors, they should be lucky to hear that eargasm very morning :D got the sporty 600FS looks waaay better, and the big kick stand is useless weight ^^
I've just bought this on a 03 plate, My first proper bike! with only 8000 miles on clock, is yours still running good pal? And recommend for a beginner?
@@stanza77 Forgot I wrote this comment 😅 It’s been an absolute blast. Probably the best bike I’ve ever owned. Comfortable, sporty, smooth yet powerful delivery and every time I go out on it someone compliments me on it 😅👍💛 I’m lucky that I found one in such lovely condition - but I’m being sensible and not modding the hell out of it. I want it to stay as near to original as possible. The only one negative id say, is that at 6ft2, it’s a little small for me. Don’t get me wrong, when I was learning the bike, that was a bonus, but the longer I go with it, the more I’m aware of how big I feel on it. I should be able to do longer stints on it, but due to my height, after about 45 minutes I’m ready for a break. A VFR800vtec or Speed Triple would probably suit me better height wise, but at least for the next few years, I’m very happy with my CBR 👍
"The frame is the same but it's differently done". Huh? Then he says that the frame has been beefed-up to cope with "the extra power". But the power on this bike is the same as the carburettored bike it was developed from. Not a bad review overall, but I don't like it when reviewers just make stuff up.
@SunzOffski All engines have a choke, the difference is FI engines have an automatic choke, always have, always will in some sense. Engines don't like low rpm's when cold so bringing them up a little prevents them from stalling.
That is absolutely stupid reaction that all bikers motivate to a police officer and get their registration taken away. If you want to be seen: ride SLOWER!!!

Worth mentioning: The auto choke revs up to 3000RPM. And it's Loud with an after market exhaust. Good or bad, that's up to whomever rides it.
Certainly annoys the neighbours at 6am
I got 1 .. he's right.. that Centre stand is very handy!... and the banana seat is more padded and better for long journeys!..

True. Though, remember this video is nearly 16 years old, back then digital speedometers were the shit.
I agree. I find lcd displays hard to read.

since when does an f4i have bad low end power?? lol bullshit
I think he meant to say torque. Compared with my VFR800F the CBR600F4I's torque from takeoff is abysmal. But still a beaut bike though.
They are a bit gutless at low revs. But, I had a 750 before.
Very small bike ( just 600 cm3 ), very small torque, very small engine sounds! :DDD

CBR600RR is better
Barely. It's minimally faster and more aggressive. This is for sure every bit as reliable and much more comfortable.
