To those of you who are concerned about the way we euthanized the fish, that was how the DNR instructed us to do it in order to legally remove them from the lakes. We were required to put them on ice. As much as I would have preferred to use Club Soda instead, my first priority is to make sure everything is done legally.
Snake Discovery Rex is adorable!!! I love alligators!!! I dont care for snakes but i would never kill one.......id just turn and run......lol but turtles, lizards and alligators are too cute!!!
I’m happy that you got to help the fish and the ecosystem. Even though it meant murdering innocent fish... It’s ok though. You were just trying to help 😊 Edit: oh wow. That’s the most likes I’ve ever gotten. Thx.
Please please consider adding clove oil to the bucket you threw them in before tossing them on ice. Ice is an incredibly inhumane way to euthanize fish. Clove oil or smashing/decapitation are the most humane ways to euthanize fish. I understand they are invasive but that is no reason that they should suffer. (Also some incorrect information about goldfish were given in your video, the max size that most goldfish reach is 12 inches in captivity as well as the wild, 6 inches is an incredibly stunted max size for goldfish!) Editing this to add a response to the people replying to me: Ice is in no way humane, please do research. The fish suffocate and freeze. Common Goldfish max at around 12 inches (with some cases of them reaching 18 inches). Koi are the ones who grow larger. I will admit I didn't think of how clove oil could harm the reptiles, I'll give you guys that one. I understand that they said to remove them and put them on ice. You could still kill the fish with more humane means than suffocation before tossing them on ice. These fish are animals too, they deserve a humane death at the very least. I understand the circle of life but that does not mean that we should throw chickens in a bag and beat them to death, or that we should cripple a cow before slaughter. This video has upset me so much that I had to unsubscribe, I wish you all the best.
It boggles my mind to see that some people don't even bother to read or listen to what Snake Discovery has posted/said regarding this whole situation and get all bloody upset. While I don't like the idea of killing animals even fish, it had to be done because the gold fish are an invasive species and were disrupting the ecosystem, which could be detrimental. Also, they have stated that using clove oil would have a negative effect on their reptiles that they would be feeding the fish to AND not to mention, they were required to put the fish on ice in order to get it done LEGALLY. READ, PEOPLE, READ, before you fly off the handle!
@@maggiekarabel123 who is they? Snake Discovery, most definitely, know they have to feed their animals and clove oil would most probably affect their animals they are trying to feed.
For people who don't understand what invasive means. An invasive animal means an animal that is not suppose to be in an area. Some people might say "Well whats wrong with introducing new animals to different places?" It might seem harmless but it has A LOT of negative effects. It's like some stranger living in your house and eating your food.
If you’re sad about the goldfish dying then you should be *more* sad about all the native species the goldfish are killing! It’s not their fault people are ignorant about releasing them but culling is the only way to stop the native animals from starving horribly and mass dying. The ripple effect of invasive species can be devastating and cause *more* awful deaths. They’re spending their time volunteering to do important work and deserve huge kudos for this public service. Death is a natural part of the cycle of life, I’ll never understand people who love animals but don’t understand that culling is an important part of saving wildlife and get angry at people who do it. Culling even happens naturally sometimes. They did it as responsibly and as humanely as they were allowed to do
@iamalien6215 no, being pets is how they ended up infesting the lake and decimating the local wildlife. A goldfish gets released again or a pescavore bird spread eggs to another area and the cycle starts all over again. Vast majority of fish owners are unable and unwilling to care for such large fish, you couldn't rehome that many goldfish to save the ecosystem. They are torturing the native ecosystem. They cannot be taken and given away and have the possibility of spreading. Take some time to research invasive species
@@iamalien6215 Those fish can’t live in a bowl, they would have to go to a pond and most people don’t have ponds. if there was a goldfish sanctuary that could take in hundreds of goldfish then sure, but we need to face the reality we live in where there’s limited space and resources. If they can’t relocate the fish then they need to cull them, anything less is as I said creating more death and destruction. I don’t like it, I wish they were never abandoned in the first place, but they are doing a community service and shouldn’t be attacked for it. It’s sad but someone has to do it and by doing so they are helping and saving all the native species that live there
Oh wow seeing those HERDS of invasive goldfish was nothing short of horrifying. Even knowing you guys picked out a solid 40, there were HUNDREDS left. To think that all happened from maybe one or two pet goldfish. Scary!
Fish Season, W/ Zac' Ti'szen probably so, but if you live here the bait shops get OVERRUN so they usually run out of fish, and they tell you where to stab the goldfish Incase it escapes the hook
People disliking a video of 40 goldfish being killed by the people who literally paid a vet to operate on a wild snake whom they have to hand feed now cause it has no eyes... Haha wow... there is not a cruel bone in Emily's body. I can't believe this video has that many dislikes. SMH
Most likely bots, but probably there’s a lot of people who have released their goldfish and then seen this and refused to believe that they’ve caused this wreckage
Listen yall I'm deeply disappointed about the amount of people that would rather care about the safety and life over an invasive species (aka the goldfish) rather than the entire ecosystem. Emily and Ed work hard to keep the animals and ecosystem around them as safe as possible and now it's suddenly a crime to clear out the problem in which is causing and unbalanced ecosystem. I'm sure If nobody cared about this topic it would be far worse and the decline of the surroundings species would have been way more dramatic. It's the circle of life. Please stop hating on people who are trying to save the ecosystem. Don't wake up and choose hate. Keep it to yourselves. Ed and Emily I'm very happy there are people as wholesome and caring as you guys in this world yet I'm deeply disappointed in the people whom hate on people like you. ❤
People are so angry that she used ice to euthanize the goldfishes and making them suffer but not at the fact that native species are also suffering from an invasive species. They're only looking at one side of the issue smh.
@@aubreysturgeon3679 Because most people seem to have slept through biology classes. I mean I´ve read comments where they said "mimi what if the fish had babies ready to be born!"....they don´t even understand how fish even reproduce.
@@toasterteostra5906 also not to mention that if the fish had laid eggs it would be significantly more devastating. Like, if it were up to me in how the world worked, invasive species wouldn't exist. @@auroraborealis9763 you need to understand that these fish aren't native and they hurt other species...they got there because of humans releasing them into the wild. They do deserve respect thought for being able to thrive in their new enviroment
I respect the cause as removing invasive species is something we don't have enough of! But damn, is it sad seeing all these fish that are gonna get euthanized because of someone releasing their prior pet into the wild. Please never release your pets into the wild. The original fish could've been given to someone more capable to avoid this type of incident, and the native species don't have to lose their food/space.
@@iamalien6215To where? They aren't native anywhere in this country, not to mention relocating that sheer number of fish would be really really bad for the other fish in the area they are relocated to, plus I am not sure that they even have a place where they're native, I think they are purely domesticated. It's sad, but this is the best option
@@iamalien6215 And I presume you have a very good place in mind as to where such a huge number of goldfish can be relocated? You know, a place where they will not be depleting their environment of resources at an alarming speed, due to overcrowding, and starve to death by masses, or kill each other over food? So I guess it's only the human population in this world that was deemed the honor of you know "being controlled"?
When you release your animal into the wild to give them a 'better life' what you're actually doing is basically just saying: "I don't want to take care of this living creature with it's own needs and I'm too lazy to find someone to take them, so I'm going to abandon them in an environment that they have likely never been even close to before, filled with things that will either hurt them or that they will hurt. My animal will most likely die young, but I'm not going to think about that, I'm just going to imagine it finding others of it's kind and singing kumbaya around a campfire so that I can pretend I did the right thing!"
Once we found a dog and drove around town with it shopping. We thought it was recently ditched. We dropped it off where we found it, turned out to be that person's dog. =_=. Nice point you're making.
It’s been like five years since I watched Emily and I still live this channel and I love how detected she is to animals even invasive species I also love how upbeat and informative she is
Remember y'all, goldfish are a type of carp and will grow to fit their ecosystem and can live decades! Never release ANY pet fish, animal, or plant (people forget plants are invasive as well) into the wild. Invasive species crowd out native ones and ruin habitats not meant to support them.
Lmao we in Europe have and still probably have issues with rododendron plants becoming invasive af. Shits so annoying to deal with AND theyre deadly poisonous. All because someone didnt keep their plant inside.
_This_ is how you become an environmentalist. Doing our part in supporting balance in our native ecosystem helps keep it alive and healthy. Free pet food is an added bonus. Love the video.
If anyone is having trouble with the damage an invasive species can do take a look at cane toads in Australia. Invasive species that don't have a natural predator in the area will boom and use up all resources that others need. Like how you're meant to weed your garden if you want it to thrive. Weeds are invasive and so are goldfish. It is sad that this happens because it isn't the goldfishs fault it's humans that's at fault.
Cane toads are turning the whole food chain basically upside down being able to kill crocs, im assuming the gold fish are just like our cane toad problem
thank god im a game wardens daughter, i grew up learning about animal control, population preservation and wildlife. everything about this video is factual. my dad, brothers and i went into a lake in MN that was overrun with goldfish. took them out of the water, iced them, and brought them back home to till in our garden. not only did it feed us, but we donated the rest of the produce to my workplace. and yes, placing fish on ice is the way to not only the safest, but quickest euthanization of a fish. it's safer because it eliminates the time when decomposition starts by crystalizing the inside of the fish itself, aka bacteria are killed immediately. also, fish are cold blooded creatures, their bodies adjust to the freezing temperature and they pass out. if you even read human stories about surviving hypothermia, they say it's the most euphoric feeling right before they pass out. knowledge is power, the more you know the more you grow ;) thanks for coming to my ted talk edit: i should add that icing is the quickest and safest for a large group of fish that you're planning on handling with your hands. if it's a pet fish, by all means euthanize him/her with clove oil and have a nice ceremony. but do the world a favor and BURY them without plastic bags. the critters underneath in the soil will flourish. you can even plant a (-->native to your state
Park Ave Dude, you’re a creep. I think ur comment just made her uncomfortable, because u sure made me uncomfortable just saying that to another female. You’re such a weirdo trying to get a girl through UA-cam comments.
As a goldfish owner this is really sad to see. Just knowing that these fish could have lived a good life in a pond in someone’s yard. Glad you guys are helping! I’ll never release my children I promise they’ll stay in their massive tank.
They couldn’t have brought them to a pond especially after filming it for millions to see since that would be illegal since they are an invasive species but if someone did capture some and put them in a pond without filming I doubt anyone would know
The first 2 mins explains why it's illegal too lol. If it rains and the pond overflows it could be introduced to another body of water and kill that new body of water.
People keep goldfish in bowls thinking they don’t get over 3 inches and although it is sad to see how much they have literally invaded this environment I think people really need to see the size goldfish get if kept in reasonable space. My goldfish currently are in 30 gallons but are 3in they will get a foot long and will be in ATLEAST a 90 gallon tank. Thank you Snake discovery! ❤️🐠
I know I am super late to this video, but I am so glad Emily and Ed made this video. In my area people were flushing live goldfish down the toilet and they ended up messing up the sewer system with all the babies. Also, I had a goldfish I won at a school carnival that was 1 inch long when I got it, and it grew to be over 15 inches long and was 7 years old when landlord poisoned it with a bug fogger. He would come to the surface to get pets from me, but would bite anyone else that tried.
I had a goldfish that I got from a carnival and it survived a hurricane, in which it got no food or filtration for 2 weeks, killed over 14 other fish, and grew to about 12 inches. It survived 8 years and I really grew attached to it. They really are very hearty carps, which is why they can take over so many ecosystems.

So far the only pet I remember getting rid off were a couple of red-ear sliders my brother and I had. We were very little and thought they were cute, didn't realize the full extent of their care (neither did my parents), and we couldn't actually provide them with what they needed. Even though red-ear sliders are native where I live, we still opted for rehoming them rather than setting them free.
ty for the video, I knew this as a wee child, and forbid my friends from releasing their fish in a local city pond. I ended up re-homing a turtle at a local pond, but it was a sanctioned action, since they needed more turtles (theirs were being stolen), and the environment was better for her. Years have gone by, she's still alive, thriving, and will recognize me??? she'll come up to the edge to see me, and her underbelly design is unmistakable - love that girl. I can still pet her head.... I don't know how but she'll think of me - and I'll never forget her.
she was released in a city, man-made pond, those caretaker's objective was to teach and instruct children about the animals living in it, and from it. it's a garden, famously know for the tree-climbing chickens...and my turtle, Ms. Bean, because she was handheld since a wee baby, and is a sweetie. I miss her - but I know she's better there, the caretakers take excellent care of her, she he has a huge pond, friends, plenty of food, and dedicated caretakers...every day. But I do miss her...
There is a UA-camr named RAWWFISHNG I think that’s the name something like it anyways he bought like 1000 goldfish and released them into a pond he’s been doing stuff like this all over his channel. Well I'm seeing this 5yrs later, and all I can say is THANK YOU!! I've been watching young guys in my native Florida catching invasive tropical fish and throwing some or most of them back into waters they didn't belong in to begin with. What you did here was a welcome change. I hope you have gone back and eliminated more goldfish, and maybe even gotten help. The shear size of the goldfish population in those lakes is an atrocity, and it's to bad no one will be held accountable for it. Some one knows who caused that and they should speak up. Not for you or I, but for the planet and future generations. If people think they should be caught and given to good homes they need to get busy at it. Sorry I gotta stop this is a subject I could rant on about for days. I'm definitely a new subscriber. Love you guys. Keep up the amazing work.
I love how in all of your videos you thoroughly explain the things you are doing, and why you are doing those actions. I find that just by the brief explanations that you give helps me in interpret more about what's going on in your videos. That's also what I find to be the most interesting part of your videos. Also, your videos are very well done a organized, and the content you put out is so interesting! I love it when I can actually learn a thing or two from just watching your videos. Thank you for making them:3
One part of me is sad that the fish are getting killed, the other part of me is glad your helping control the population of a very invasive species. And you are feeding your own pets 😁
Cira Commie apparently putting them in ice is not a good way to kill them because they freeze and or suffocate to death. Sounds like fun. Somebody mentioned putting them into clove oil is way less painful for the poor fish.
This is the very first video I have watched from you guys maybe about 4 years ago and I have been hooked every since. I love you both simply because of your personalities. You both seem such sweet open minded people and that’s why I love your channel so much other than your love of animals. Keep up the good work with both your channel and everything else you do, I look forward to continuing to watch your videos.
Bryce Alumia Yesssss, I was like “NO THAT’S NOT A PERFECT NUMBER!!” And then went “Bless you from the bottom of my heart” when they got one more just to make it 40 😬
exactly, but they are spreading awareness... maybe others with animals that need feeder fish will also go there, and word will spread. if everyone catches 40-50 each every so often, that can make a dent.
So many people talked about the inhumane euthanization of the fish. I don’t think they read the pinned comment throughly, if they didnt put it on ice. It would be considered illegal and they could go to jai. While the mutated fish harm the rest of the ecosystem. Plus, the fish was meant as alligator fold, not human food. Btw, clove oil is toxic to reptiles. Its bad that the fish had to be killed in a pretty painful way, but they were a risk to the ecosystem in the creeks and rivers and its illegal to do otherwise
What a fantastic way to feed your animals with all natural food and make a small dent in removing invasive species from the environment! It also looks like a super fun day out! I don’t normally comment but I wanted to make a point of showing my support because I feel like showing a video where animals are being killed for food may stir up some negative feelings in viewers. Great video!
Kevin_the_ Collector the Human race is invasive 😐 we go where we are not wanted it is our will to poop all over mother nature that helps us survive until mother nature gets a huge slipper to hit us with but it'll be a hell of a ride up until that point
Pinkus Dean well to an extent you are right but not all humans are invasive. Like native Americans or the Inca or Mayan. Maybe an African tribe or something but white people are the most invasive. Australia, Africa, America. You name it white have been there and probably messed something up.
They’re invasive. Leaving them would devastate the native ecosystem and putting them on ice was the only legal option in their area. It’s fine to feel sad about the goldfish, but so long as you recognize that it needed to be done. Apparently other comments have been made saying that it was cruel or that the goldfish were “innocent” (whatever that means is pointless as they are inherently bad because they are invasive), but it was a necessary thing to save an ecosystem.
Humans are also an invasive species. And humans released the goldfish in the water in the first place, making them the dominant species. And we, humans, devastate various ecosystems like no other species. What should be done about us?
maigo1341 - nothing because we do a fine job of killing each other, both in the short and long term. The need to expand and consume will be our downfall, as our ambitions out grow the available resources and our livelihood becomes unsustainable. The only other major threat to our species would be a natural (or planetary) disaster of an extreme scale, like a super volcano, asteroid, etc. Climate change is a more gradual problem that (*I would think) escalates to rapid succession (as the food chain starts to collapse). If you can’t tell I’m pessimistic to a fault and think humans are the worst thing to step foot on this planet. Would much rather be a single cell organism.
You know..... it's 3 years later, I'm curious if you've gone back and gotten more Gold Fish for your reptiles. It's free, clearly fun for you all, and a good mix in the diets as you stated. Plus it gets an invasive species out of the area as much as you can. I can see you 2 going back with bigger coolers and just netting a bunch to feed to your animals. Getting a lot out as much as possible.

Well as a Florida native I already knew that even though our lakes don't freeze, they get pretty frosty and the gators "sleep" so to speak in the winter. They get so slow you can touch them. I've also seen fish floating too, just to start swimming the next day, only once when it got below 20. I think those people are just sensitive/uneducated, we Floridians know our way around sea life.

Releasing goldfish into the wild sounds like something PETA would do. Edit: to make things clear, I never said they did it, I'm saying it sounds like something they might do.
When my turtle got too big, me and my dead double checked to see if it was a native species before releasing it into Morgan's cove. If it wasn't native, it would have ended up at the nearest pet store.

It's inhumane to release invasive species causing the eradication of other native species. Not to mention, those fish weren't just tossed away, they were used for sustenance for another animal. Say it with me: IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIFE!
I'm guessing like, 90% of them still eat hamburgers and steak without noticing the contradiction. Or, heck, even fish. Fun fact everybody: that salmon fillet you ate yesterday doesn't just grow like that in the wild on a bush or tree. It's part of a fish.

@@amiaswolfgang You are way too defensive. I never claimed that you have to be a vegetarian to be a good person. My point is simply that it is entirely hypocritical to object to the killing of these goldfish as a foodsource, while at the same time participating in the meat industry. A person doesn't get to act like the killing of these fish was some terrible act while ignoring their own participation in the continuation of the meat industry. It's intellectually lazy and hypocritical.

My uncle caught an eel and took it home as a pet. He found that the eel wasn't thriving in captivity (geez, I wonder why 😂). So then he released it back into the wild into a different body of water. The eel wasn't used to the current of the water (cuz it was kept in an aquarium), and kept getting washed up on the shore. My uncle thought that the eel would "figure it out", and he just left. A day later, he was watching the news, and there was a news story about how ppl found a non-native eel in that body of water. 😂
Lol yeah really is quite the mystery. Washing up on the shore has gotta be a good sign! The level of “eh, not my problem” that I’ve seen from people is so whack.
Fortunately, the eel was taken to a fish rescue, and my uncle def learned his lesson. Thankfully, this happened over 20 yrs ago, and fishing laws are more strict in Taiwan (where this happened 😅) now.
look as a goldfish owner i get it but they're called invasive species for a reason. the amount of you who refuse to understand this and are ignoring the pinned comment is embarrassing tbh
I remember up in Spokane someone released a sick goldfish (it had herpes) into the Japanese koi pond. Most of the koi died within the next year or so. A lot of the koi had been there for decades. >_>; I feel for the old owner. Probably had no idea it would end in such a mushroom cloud.
When I went fishing with my dad as a kid, we’d put the fish on ice to kill them. After reading these comments, I turned to my boyfriend and asked, “Hey, if you went fishing and wanted to eat the fish, how would you kill them?” You know what he said? Putting them on ice. This is how it’s done.
“Hey, we used to do surgery by holding patients down and performing it while they were still awake. How do you do it?” “We hold them down and perform surgery while they’re still awake.” “See? That’s how it’s done.” Do you see how ridiculous your argument is? When a fish is out of water it is literally suffocating, and also terrified and in distress. They are in pain while they are being frozen alive. Just because a lot of people do it that way or used to do it that way does not mean it’s humane or that there aren’t better methods.
Alex Linders did they really save the lake or make a difference at all? They literally took 40 goldfish of the thousands of orange spots across the lake.
I have watched this video about 4 times now. I understand it is old and no one will probably see this I have an opinion... I have pet goldfish. Several of them. I love them to bits and some of these fish were GORGEOUS and I'd have loved them in my tank! But while ice was not the most humane way to kill them... I really don't have a problem with this video. Unsubscribing or negative reacting, simply because they did what was best for their own animals (which would and SHOULD come first) and what they were instructed to do, is ridiculously absurd. In the end you don't know the circumstances. They should not have to explain themselves the way they did, be thankful they did! It could have been a simple case of Emily and Ed not really knowing better and just doing AS THEY WERE INSTRUCTED. You wanna throw a fit? Call the DNR in the state of question and complain to them about giving incorrect and inhumane information. I'm sure next time they will either smash the head or stab the brain for a quick and humane death for the fish, just to appease the masses. I will add that because goldfish are a cold water fish, ice is actually a much slower and painful death than it would be for, say, a tropical fish who would probably die from shock not long after hitting the ice. Still painful either way. One is just quicker. A humane death that will not affect the quality of the fish for feeding is one that involves quick fatal damage to the brain. Done however you see fit whether with a knife or blunt force. Knife is much more effective. Sometimes they live through other methods. Which... Ouch. :\ Keep doing what you do, Em and Ed. I will not be someone going anywhere anytime soon. You'd have to literally neglect your animals and I know better than that!
Omg the newest comments are all (seemingly) children complaining about the goldfish getting killed. This was years ago, and while I doubt anything differently would be done if it came out recently, I still don't understand why you're so upset invasive animals being euthanized in a not too cruel way(I understand there's better methods but all things considered it's not like they went out of their way to make the fish bleed to death or something (rather extreme but you get the point)).
5:26 "At the end of the day, though, they're just carp." Yup. Goldfish are basically carp that were specifically bred for something like the last 1500 years, with the orange/gold coloration being specifically encouraged for a variety of reasons. Fun fact: goldfish were basically the pet-equivilant of diamonds back in ye olden days. The number of 'properly' colored goldfish was kept restricted to maintain their ability to be status symbols to the point where goldfish were a not-uncommon one-year anniversary gift for married couples.
To think that all it took was one ignorant person or kid who thought they were doing something nice for their pet to damage and essentially destroy an entire ecosystem and kill off other native species. Invasive species are very difficult to remove.
it sucks that theyy had to do this in the first place for 1. the goldfish that could of been happy pets were it not for the idiots that decided they didnt want them anymore and 2. the environment.
So they were invasive so I’m going to explain this very very simple they not meant to be there, they ruin environment, they not good in that area, it illegal to take them home alive, so that only way
@@freebrams6732 I am fully aware of that. But they wouldn’t have been there in the first place if (like all invasive species) someone hadn’t put them there, and the fact that someone DID put them there, and the fact that their harm to the environment could have been avoided if someone didn’t put them there. That’s what I’m mad about.
I agree. Not the fish’s fault but the idiot humans. I have a big tank inside I have goldfish and when watching this video I was standing in front of the fish tank “guarding” it I guess. But I will never let mine go and die like that
danisnotonchairs calm down think for a moment when you touch a snake and jerk thats a feeling of fear when you get more used to touching it you finally don’t panic
Some of the dislikes are because people don't agree with the method in which they killed them, but a lot of the dislikes are from people who think it was wrong to take them in the first place. Lots of ridiculous arguments in the comments about it if you're curious. In short; It has so many dislikes because people won't listen to logic.

Edit: oh wow. That’s the most likes I’ve ever gotten. Thx.
I can’t have a number that ends in a 9 either 😂
Please please consider adding clove oil to the bucket you threw them in before tossing them on ice. Ice is an incredibly inhumane way to euthanize fish. Clove oil or smashing/decapitation are the most humane ways to euthanize fish. I understand they are invasive but that is no reason that they should suffer. (Also some incorrect information about goldfish were given in your video, the max size that most goldfish reach is 12 inches in captivity as well as the wild, 6 inches is an incredibly stunted max size for goldfish!)
Editing this to add a response to the people replying to me:
Ice is in no way humane, please do research.

They did it as responsibly and as humanely as they were allowed to do
Culling shouldn't be a thing. Relocation or rehoming them as pets is the answer.
@@iamalien6215 ain't no way your finding proper homes for that many goldfish

Probably 1000+ to be honest
There is an easy 10000 plus gold fish
Unfortunately i would but my turtle is strangely afraid of fish and maybe needs to grow an inch or 2 first before eating a fish that large

Ice euthanasia is actually painless for fish (if I’m wrong plz don’t comment bomb me 😂)
The laws are stupid, there's a better way to do it.
@@iamalien6215 Laws are laws, you have to follow them or run to change them.
00WolfSpirit she explained why she euthanised them that way, it was actually illegal for her to kill them with club soda etc. She had to use ice.
Pinkus Dean the conversation is about removing invasive species from places they don’t belong, and it’s not racist if I’m white.
You name it white have been there and probably messed something up.
xWinterWolfx7 not all of the human race is invasive.
Small and Stressed we know Emily told us....But still that’s true
WELL SAID!!!!! The ignorance expressed by some people is so astounding!!!
@@smallandstressed2364 I see we're on the same page. :D The only question is - how much will we kill on our way out...

WOW!!! So many comments about how cruel putting them on ice is, doesn't anybody commenting know fish are cold blooded like reptiles? it literally just puts them to sleep as their body temp slowly drops like a reptile. We had a fish pool outside an it iced over one winter an the goldfish were all on their sides on the bottom like they were dead but a couple days later when it warmed back up they were back up swimming around an fine, I'm thinking y'all must be from South Florida or Texas maybe? to have goldfish in lakes like that, I don't think they would survive a whole winter in a lake frozen over?
Well as a Florida native I already knew that even though our lakes don't freeze, they get pretty frosty and the gators "sleep" so to speak in the winter. They get so slow you can touch them. I've also seen fish floating too, just to start swimming the next day, only once when it got below 20. I think those people are just sensitive/uneducated, we Floridians know our way around sea life.
Lovie Love Yup that's right we do, but there's still snow birds letting their unwanted pets go,
We've even got talopia an those lil alge eaters in N FL in the St Johns River, but not like farther south, that was 2010 wasn't it when it froze so bad down there the iguana's were dropping from the trees an all the fish froze, there were even snook up here in the river most people didn't think were this far north floating up. Lovie Love Dang your about 30mins from me, really small world, I sure will an if you hear 1st pls let me know, the talopia in the river isn't bad I don't think, they mostly eat vegetation an there's plenty of that in the river. Which the game commission put's carp in every new pond that's dug to control the vegetation but I don't think they realize they also eat spawning fish eggs an any time a fish tries to bed they come along an wipe out their eggs that night, I've watched beds destroyed over night in the ponds around here, everytime the bream an bass try to bed, they're gone the nx day, I'd rather c them stock the ponds with talopia at least you could eat them
Goldfish are nothing but carp and they live in frozen over lakes and rivers all over the US.
I have 7 in a 100gallon and they are that size (6-10")so it boggles me when people think theyre fine in fishbowls then argue that they dont get the size they are and this is more proof. That said i think that this is a good thing theyre doing to reduce the invasive population (even tho the turtles are happy for the food) because theyre taking the native fauna's food and space, probably eating their eggs and reaking havock. IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIFE!
I'm guessing like, 90% of them still eat hamburgers and steak without noticing the contradiction. Or, heck, even fish. Fun fact everybody: that salmon fillet you ate yesterday doesn't just grow like that in the wild on a bush or tree. It's part of a fish.

My point is simply that it is entirely hypocritical to object to the killing of these goldfish as a foodsource, while at the same time participating in the meat industry. 😂

Which... Ouch. :\
Keep doing what you do, Em and Ed. I will not be someone going anywhere anytime soon. You'd have to literally neglect your animals and I know better than that!

Yup.
