    I should have clarified that compared to basic glasses, especially with high prescriptions, contacts are often better. However, modern, advanced prescription lenses are almost always better than contacts.
    What do you prefer? Let me know! 👇

      💪🏻 I prefer glasses there’s millions of different styles out there that are available. Right now i have a pair of randy Jackson frames in the clear there a prescription frame there transition they turn into sunglasses outside and back to normal inside. As well just had to get a new pair of glasses since my prescription changed but was only able to get whatever my insurance was willing to cover there no fancy name brand at all or transition can’t afford them at all 💪🏻.

    I’ve never been tempted to try using contacts. One of the reasons why not is that there are times of the year when I use eyedrops (sodium cromoglicate) against pollen allergy, which I think are incompatible with wearing contacts.

    I agree with all your points, but I would argue that they only apply to those with weak or medium prescriptions. I have a prescription of -8 in both eyes, and wearing glasses is a huge inconvenience because theyr'e thick and heavy, there's very few frames that I can choose from for my prescription, and worst of all I can barely see without my glasses. That's the number one reason I prefer contacts for my prescription, and also why I'm considering eye surgery.

    In your opinion, what is the best tint that you’ve come across that is great for the following conditions:
    - Consistently exposed to harsh sunlight or artificial indoor lighting
    - Not intrusive to vision during nighttime
    - Suitable for those who experience discomfort when adjusting to light
    - Blue light protection
    - Can take a prescription
    - (if possible) Not photochromic or a transition
    The frame I’m looking to get them in, specifically, is the RSF Classic in Black with gold accents.

Yes, now I still started using glasses again for minor + prescription and astigmatism in one eye, and I have nothing against glasses, but I am not as blind and dependent of them as earlier.

    I had laser surgery 20 years ago. The biggest issue IMO is that now I need cataract surgery and having LASIK makes it way more difficult for them to figure out what lens to put in my eye. Also, I wonder if LASIK increases risk for cataracts.

  • @dianp4824

    I was really thinking of going for laser surgery until I read it's actually correcting the vision by inserting a small lens inside in the eye, which is in conclusion an external outside body that is sitting in your eye. No ty. I will continue to wear glasses that I can actually remove from my natural eye at any time I want to.

    I am very minimalist - i like athletic pants - athletic shoes - no watches or necklace or rings - my keychain has one key on it etc. I would very much prefer to not have glasses - but I cannot touch my eye and don't like the idea of touching it. Laser surgery, from what I researched typically only works for 5yrs or so and can potentially cause permanent eye damage or blindness, that is just way too big of a gamble for me to take.
    I have no issue with how glasses look on me - but every job I have had gets them dirty, not to mention how annoying glasses are in the rain. It is nice to have a permanent shield over your eyes though, there are plenty of times where things were blocked from hitting my eyes to which i am grateful.

Those were the same issues I was facing and the fact that I stay in a place of extreme temperatures, they felt so uncomfortable. all people I've interacted with that have done lasik have negative post effects.
    I'd love to have a pair of leather eyewear, just wondering how hygienic they'd be. I had leather sunnies but gave them away no so long.
    I'm fastidious.

    Perhaps the most compelling reason for choosing glasses over the other forms of vision correction is that glasses are accessories! Not to mention, there's plenty of cases in which contacts or laser surgery may not be viable or the most practical options. For example, if you have photophobia, glasses are your best bet, as they can be tinted, contacts can't (at least not that i know of)

    I have an eye glass wearer for over 20 years now but it’s quite expensive to style prescription sunglasses which is making me consider contact lenses .. good quality sunglasses are already over £350-400 add prescription to them and they very easily hit £750-800 if I want to style a couple of pairs then that is quite an expensive affair.
    Having Contacts means one can just buy good quality sunglasses instead

    well, I would most definitely have taken laser surgery if I could, but I have Keratoconus and therefore I can not. I don't mind glasses too much, it's just that some frames are painful with a headset, I can't even use glasses in my paintball mask, and most VR headsets are very uncomfortable with glasses on. Plus glasses don't really "fix" my vision because of the Keratoconus so I kinda need to use some special contact lenses for that, but I usually end up only using glasses regardless, just because it's more convenient I guess.

    Actually wait it’s not a skill issue you just have eye problems like WTF GET RID OF THEN ALREADY I DROPPED FROM -2.6 TO -0.25!!!
    Also, don’t fully correct the stuff. Just undercorrect a little and clear up the blur naturally and then eventually you can reduce more and more over time and then see normally
    Also, NEVER WEAR MINUS LENSES FOR CLOSEUP
    If you have mid myopia and can’t see your phone clear enough at arm’s length, just wear differentials that only correct up to screen distance except not really though and try to see clearer farther in them and eventually reduce

    Glasses are useless in the rain; when entering a building in the winter; they can't improve peripherial vision meaning you have HUGE blind spots from each side and no DriveSafe technology can help with that. Being a photographer I can't wear glasses while shooting, can't use tints because I need to actually see what I'm doing colorwise and I can easily think of at least 10 more activities where glasses won't work, without even touching on sports.
    I agree though that LASIK is questionable but contacts -even though they can be a hassle - there has been nothing better invented yet. They are irreplaceable in way too many situations to be dismissed like that. It's to be expectated from a spectacles vendor, but let's try to be more fair here...
    And if hygiene is seriously one of the deal breakers, then I suggest one should reconsider their habbits, because contacts or no contacts, clean hands are a civilizational attribute and an absolute no question must.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому +1

      Yes, glasses with the right lenses can give equal peripheral vision to contact, and superior vision overall. Seems like you've made up your mind already though, and that's OK. If contacts work for you, awesome. I'm a photographer too, BTW.

    • @accordingly1
      @accordingly1 Рік тому

      @@thespectaclefactory I take your word for it - even though I can't imagine how it can be acomplished, but I'm not going to argue with a professionalist in the field. Other than that, it's not about making my mind up, I've been using contacts for a long time now out of pure necessity, not because I'm loving them so much - as I said, it's just that nothing better has been invented yet for some situations. Doesn't mean that they are great or that they provide the perfect vision...
      I like your content btw and if my initial comment was a bit harsh, it's simply because I was rather disappointed by the biased presentation of a serious topic - an unusual approach on this channel. Thank you for taking the time to go through the comments and reply, it's very much appreciated!
