  • Today we're hunting for cool rocks, shells, fossils, coral, and more on a beach in Clearwater, Florida! Unfortunately, Clearwater Beach was absolutely PACKED (I was unlucky enough to go during spring break), but I was able to sneak onto a private beach for some beachcombing. I would say rock hunting, but it was slim pickings in that department. I still had a lot of fun, though, and I hope you do too living vicariously through this video.
I apologize for the rough audio quality on this one. I had to yell to hear myself over the wind, and while my new microphone did a great job canceling out the wind, it didn't take so kindly to my yelling. Oops.
Leave me a comment down below with a fun fact about you, a totally mundane tidbit about your day, or your favorite banana bread recipe. Whatever floats your goat.

I love that your husband recognizes and is excited by your talent. A nice walk on the beach and he gets to help you continue your craft, relationship goals!

I love how when it's cloudy and damp nobody goes to the beach, that's when I want to be there most. Glad you and your hubby got to find crafting materials and enjoyed a beautiful day out!

I just came back from Clearwater and found the best place for larger, but dormant shells tend to be out just past where the waves will knock you over! Although I understand why you guys didn’t!

Butterfly shell is a coquina, you didn’t find a sand dollar it was a shell. Second piece was a sand dollar😀 spiny shell is half of a jewel box, rainbow color shell is a pen shell, I never found sea glass ever. Lived there five years.

@Coffeeislife33 I'm so glad you listed all of these. I was sitting here the whole time knowing what shells etc I was seeing but I couldn't remember a single name. (Hurt my shoulder and apparently the meds took my memory with it. Lol)

It was so nice spending time in a moody beach with you guys!

I live in the Tampa bay area, what is crazy to me is these moody days means less people at the beach. The PERFECT time to go and just embrace and enjoy nature... I don't know why more people don't go out when the weather is like that.

Sorry to hear about your menopause, you look way too young for that. Good to see that your husband is so supportive.

He was joking about the menopause, but he is very supportive of all my other womanly woes 😂 I lucked out with him!

@moonriserocks Watch out for whenever the peri-menopause hits. IMHO, it's just as awful.
I've always been one of those people who is cold. One might think hot flashes would be a saving grace, but nope. It's like existing on the surface of the sun. Lol

In Florida the best beach combing where you will find huge full shells and unfortunately no sea glass. You need to go to Sanibel Island.

You should have gone to Honeymoon Island State Park for rocks and great shells.

If you want amazing rocks go to the beaches of Lake Superior in UP Michigan, those rocks are beautiful and while you can’t find shells you can find endless large/medium rocks and sea glass all tumbled by the lake. Ontonagon is where I stayed and it is a very peaceful and beautiful town :).

I don’t know my rocks but if you ever wind up in Washington state, the beaches here have TONS of cool looking rocks. I’ve got a couple I’ve collected just because I think their pretty though I don’t have a tumbler to make them even prettier

@@r3dleafI had NO IDEA how different the Gulf side was until I saw a video this past Fall.
I'm in NW Pennsylvania so my beach combing has been limited to the Atlantic and the Great Lakes (killer rocks in the latter). I've been to the Outer Banks in North Carolina a few times. Atlantic City had amazing sea glass around an older out of the way fishing pier.
All of that to say, I'm used to WAVES, always waves of dang solid strength.
I never really considered that other places might be calmer. Then last Fall, a lady who has a channel that's all beachcombing who does her regular shelling on the Gulf side of Florida, went to the Atlantic side of the state and I was gobsmacked!
I don't know how I never put it together that she wasn't getting slammed left, right and center by waves in her regular videos, but man, seeing other people get smacked with Atlantic waves was really eye opening.
So now of course I want to visit the Gulf side of Florida. 😂
