Thank you both very much! I like what both of you said. These types of shots are new for me. Our beaches look nothing like this. So many things caught my eye. I thought this scene looked interesting but something was off, which is why I submitted it. (And no, I was not with Adam, actually with Nick & Francesco here. Lucked out and got Adam & Sean in the woods!🌲).
I'll go back to the drawing board and see if I can polish this 💩 with your suggestions 😁. Which ones, I haven't decided yet - maybe both! ☺️
Thanks again so much! Very helpful.
I really like Alister's idea of cropping the image. It has much more impact that way. It's been great watching these critiques. I find myself looking at, not only my photos closer, but others images as well and critiquing them in my head. I think this series is a good education for all in learning composition and processing.
Can anyone tell how i can submit my pictures??? Plz reply
Super helpful, thanks for this. Can learn a lot even from critiques of other people's images
'dirdy' phodagraphs' 'liddle' 'padderns' ...who's editing out the 't's?
Excellent Critique Adam. thank you for doing these.. it is such an excellent way to mentor others.. giving to others.. so glad you and Alister are doing them. I am a fairly new landscape photographer, trying to slowly hone the craft hoping to perhaps become more professional with it. I am at a point where I am dying to get feedback from others like yourself, people that I admire and appreciate. Are you two open to still taking in more photos to critique? How would I go about submitting one to be considered for a review? Thank you.
I love these critiques for so many different reasons for me personally... Once again there isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer here as I agree with both Adam & Alister's opinions here...My immediate impression was that the beach area along the top needed to go, but the lower left needed some work with a simple enough " white adj. " bringing out that area substantially better, visually speaking...Since it is a abstract with questionable quality light, cropping out the beach & removing a few distractions on the edges was the way to go with this image imho...
All the best,
Bill... :~)
Fascinating image! What are those golden streaks? For a sec I thought it was a long exposure of people swimming!
Where can we submit photos for critique?
I love your Videos, just not so much the ones with Alister Benn. I prefer your ideas..
Really appreciate your doing these critiques! Truly amazing what you, with your experience, see in an image! I find these videos very helpful as a learning tool!
I wondered about the top section, too, Alisrer. It would have ben the first thing to try in post, with or without?
@adam gibbs Does it have to be a landscape because I have an intimate flower photo I would like to submit and I know that's where you started. And I think you would like it.
Lightroom has definitely become more overlapped with the capabilities when compared to photoshop. Since you can use luminosity masks and intersect different masks. It’s not perfect but does offer a lot more capability than before. These are good videos
I have a very similar image to this one. Like mine, the stronger elements are the lines formed by the reflective water, and the texture of the sand and its shadows. Color didn't help mine, so I made it monochrome.
How can I submit a photo for critique?
If it was mine I would crop in top and bottom to where the ripples begin...
The photos you review are already very good. In past episodes you begin by saying, “This is a beautiful shot, the only way I would improve this is by [insert minor edit here].” It would be interesting to see you critique something that is less refined as that might present a better learning opportunity.
Nice catch Alister, I was thinking the same thing about the top of that image.
It's the sort of shot I Iook for as well, and you made it pop more, Adam
👍
Firsttttt
Like I care
Just kidding, I did care :)
