Good lord, Michael. As usual, your vision and composition are remarkable. You create images that are truly original and beautiful. You are an inspiration to all photographers. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the support!
Bridge and birds was my favorite 🙌
Thanks Michael for your amazing photos and time lapse! It never gets old experiencing such an iconic place through the eyes of a photographer that knows SF so well.
Simple shot with the Birds
*goes to arguably one of the most photographed places in the world
*creates original images
Jeez Louise. This is great. Very inspiring approach-wise.
I preferred the photo without the person in it at sunset but both are fantastic.
Cheers.
I like the photo with the birds and the bridge...it is stunning. You have a couple of things going on. The cool tones of the fog against the warm, international orange colored bridge cables as well as the birds within the fog providing a contrast with all of the cars on the bridge itself. It is fantastic!
The master of Timelapse. Choosing the right moments in the right conditions.
There ya go, asking to pick which image is liked better and it's not possible! 😂 The timelapses and night images are just out of this world, Michael!! ❤
Bridge and birds for me is the absolute cracker ! What an image !
I agree with not making a long exposure. The fog detail and texture add a lot to the photo. Personally, I like the shot with the people.
Just beautiful! And the time lapse ones were mesmerizing. Thank you for sharing!!
All great photos Michael.
Fabulous shots
This might be the best video I've ever watched. Love this city, love this bridge and the conditions and the views are breathtaking
Wow thats a huge compliment, thank you so much!
8:18 I prefer the horizontal composition because it is not cluttered unlike the vertical composition. The sunlight on the birds make them pop from the background. Amazing photos and video as usual!
Birds and the bridge is better. All the night shots are spectacular. The one wide-angle still reminds me of that movie the 13th Warrior - "the glow verm [worm]".
Great images. Thanks for sharing your vision and expertise.
Getting another photographer in the composition is always a win in my book! For the bridge shots, I like the one with the person for scale. another great video.
you, or you and your team, do such an awesome job with these videos. You could put this on cable television as is. Thanks for making the technical parts of this hobby more interesting to research. It can be defeating to try to understand a lens without enjoyable content like this
Always with the relaxing voice and great photos. Thanks 🙂
So much fun seeing a few of the spots we photographed during our workshop again on a different day and conditions, through your eyes. As always, love your vision for minimalism and the way you share your process!
Thanks so much Bill, Its really interesting how much the view changes with a bit of fog! But we did get some really cool stuff at sunset!
The bridge and birds photo takes my top pic from this video. Those conditions are epic! Can't wait to get back out that way. Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers!!
Absolutely beautiful work 🤩 I love the bridge and agree the birds really added something special to the images. What a stunning shoot ✨
Birds and bridge was the best shot 🔥
I prefer the birds and the bridge.
Bridge and bird was my fav as well.
Wow !!! That was such an enjoyable video. The still shots and time lapse were fabulous.
That image at 7:49 is just outstanding. Well done!
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed that one!
As always a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing your methods. 👍
SO INSPIRATIONAL.THANK YOU!
8:29 is almost identical to a shot I took in Yosemite and it's one of my favorite photos ever!
Thank you so much.
I'm visiting the Humber Bridge in a couple of weeks time to photograph it at sunset and do some night shots, watching your video is given me a few more ideas. The photos you showed looked amazing. Many thanks
Thanks so much for putting this together, I live near S.F. and this will help next time I'm out there and will help when working with fog in general.
Wow!
Birds and the bridge for me, Michaele
Superb video Michael. As usual you share with us magnificent photos and timelapses in a poetic way. Thanks!
Thanks so much James! :)
The left one is amazing 😍
thank you!
Amazing shoot. Your images are fantastic. My preference was the image with the bridge and the birds to the Right.
Words fail … simply superb 👍
thank you so much!
Awesome work, Michael! Of those two you ask about, I prefer the people shot because I'm on a telephoto phase after reading The Photographer's Eye. Cheers!
Hey Michael... thanks for sharing another great episode! Dude i can´t even say wich image i like the most! It looks absolut amazing with all that fog. Love it!
Awesome video as always!
Fog and San Francisco are putty in your hands! Epic is not too strong a word in this case. And you are a timelapse master! While I do like adding people occasionally for scale and for the sense of being there, I really love the simple birds and bridge in the comparison shots. The photographer right in front of the tower in the later shot was perfect. I hope he got to see it somehow! You gotta love birds in the shots! Were those pelicans in the last ones?
Beautiful shots! I used to live in Marin, have taken and seen seen many captures of the bridge and city from the road to Mt Tam and these are very special captures.
Nice! Really enjoyed the Timelapse. As for the comparison between the composition with the guy for scale and without, I like them both. Preference would depend on my mood at the time. Thanks for sharing!
I love the pictures, great memories Michael! Cheers from Italy.
Thanks so much!
Superb video 👍🙂
Great video thanks Michael. Yes, playing around with an interesting, constantly changing scene is great fun. You produced some wonderful results. I prefer the"simple shot with the birds". I have to say that place is a wonderful vantage point... Also if you're going for a macro lens, the Laowa lenses are great, really sharp and go to 2x BUT they aren't weather sealed at all. I don't know why they don't put at least a rubber gasket on the flange and a few seals inside, cheap to do. Personally as someone that has shot a lot of macro for decades, I'm often caught in bad weather or in wet, rainy forests and am always glad to have weather sealed kit..... That last image with the tail-light trails and fog on the bridge is fantastic.
Yep, simple shot w/birds. The birds here balance the comp more so and they have more presence.
Wow! I have been their several times traveling from the east coast (NJ), and never thought to go higher. If you have workshops down the road, I would Love to attend. Love all of the shots.
Hey thanks so much. I do one-on-ones in San Francisco, so shoot me an email anytime, and we can schedule something! :)
Holy crap bro, amazing work. Subscribed!
Thank you Kai!
Amazing photos, as usual Michael. As you well know, we don't have that kind of fog here in San Diego. I think I need to move north. 😂😂
❤
I love both images but I'd probably display the Bridge and Birds photo in more of a home or nature focused environment, and I love the image of the Bridge and the Person but can imagine it being displayed as a huge print in a commercial environment or an adventure store or something similar. Probably more than you wanted to know, but I love them both.
No, thank you so much for your thoughts on it, I think you are totally right, the person definitely gives more of a commercial appeal, where the birds and the bridge can be more of a fine art shot!
The shot with the person for scale.
I like both images. The one with the birds can be printed and hung on a wall, the other one with the person would tell the story really well in a photo book.
A question if I may... What software do you use to create the timelapse from the images?
And it's also a video idea if you could show some tips about it. I would be definitely interested.🙂
Good grief what are you carrying in that bag? Great minimal shots. Fog Heaven.
Thanks so much Chris! Way too much stuff haha, filming vlogs means more gear unfortunately :(
Shot with humans and bridge is more relatable than birds via clever device screen could be totally different using another viewing platform or in person.
Cheers!
What is your process for predicting low level fog? I take it there's plenty of it up in your neck of the woods, but would love some insight on websites or apps you use for pin pointing these conditions. Thanks!! You're such an inspiration!!
Ok sounds like a plan, I will set up my vacation and send you and email
1) Your first timelapse was for like 10 seconds, according to your camera screen it took you 36 minutes, was it longer then that?
2) do you have a workshop on how to do timelapse coming soon?
3) and thank you for all of your videos, they inspire me to do better!!
Hey there, I have a few timelapse videos on the channel you can check out. For that one the timing was off because it was set to like 2000 shots previously. I changed it to only do about 400 shots and it took about 6 mins to do the full timelapse.
Looks like you need a better lens, Michael. You deserve a better one. Get the sony 100-400mm.
Hauk tuah
Very thought provoking, thank you.
I vote for the left photo without the person.
I think the end shots with Gulls included are OK but would have been much better if you had waited for the Golden Eagles. Just sayin🤣🤣🤣

WOW, wish i was there with you, I could use the training with my nikon Z6
As always a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing your methods. 👍
