5th Wheel 5.0 Escape Travel Trailer (Unbiased Review)

- This video is a COMPLETELY UNBIASED RV REVIEW of the @takeyourescape Escape 5.0 5th wheel travel trailer. This is a fiberglass built RV that is compact and light weight.
We loved that the Escape 5.0 is easy to tow, has lots of storage space, has a lovely wet bath including a sink, had a beautiful contemporary decor and can be highly personalized. We wished that there was a cutting board and the compartment doors had used magnets.
We think the Escape 5.0 5th wheel travel trailer is best suited for the RV Sometimer, full-timer, or weekender/vacationer because of its space and amenities with it's ease of mobility. If one where planning to be more stationary as a snowbird a little more space would be advised. It is ideal for a couple or solo traveller with the occasional guests or a small family out for short periods would enjoy it too.

I LOVE the lighter & brighter interior! I wish more manufacturers would catch onto that trend!
We really loved this interior too. So bright and you could still match it with some nice darker contrasts in seating or counters. It has so much many choices. Hope you are doing well, thanks for watching
Another great review, thanks for stopping by!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
The 5.0 is my favorite Escape & it is so much better since Ellie was in it too. I really liked it but felt it was smaller than the 2 of us & our 2 dachshunds. I do,like the size, light weight, and quality workmanship. I simply love this rig.
We agree! The 5.0 is unique and Ellie really is the star of the show. Thanks for watching.
Your videos & channel is one of my top 3 favorites! You do an outstanding job of informing the consumer about all the many things an “everyday NEW RV’er would want to know. Ty do much for the great content & delivery. Very much appreciated.
Awesome we are so happy to hear it. We hope we were able to help you. Thanks for watching
Ever since I've seen the Escape 5th wheel on videos, I've wanted one! :) Thanks for the detailed tour!
Glad you liked it, they are a pretty cool little trailer. Hope you get one soon. Thanks for watching.
Me too
Same here 👍🏽
We have ordered ours... Thanks so much for the great tour Denise 💞🤗
This is a beautiful travel trailer. Another Canadian Utuber used the Escape for their travels. I love how it is build and how it is held together. Great review guys. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Fantastic walkthrough! This fits everything we could ever need.
Yay! It really is a fantastic trailer. Good luck and let us know if you get one. Thanks for watching
love the solar, very cute design camper. Wish they did away with gas stove and use the induction instead would give you more storage. Also tankless hotwater heater would be so much better. I am surprised that this being from Canada its not already insulated better. I was a little shocked over that one. Over all I do like the design of the camper. It is cute and mostly well thought out. By the time I add all the extras I feel would make it better I'm looking closer to probably 50,000. ☹
Nice, I like the contemporary colors. Well worth the price, too.
It really is nice we agree. Thanks for watching.
Super build quality!!!!
Love your descriptions and the product
That's great to hear and we love the Escape trailers too. Thanks for watching
Looks great. Thank you
Nice. Love everything except the wet bath.
We hear you. They are coming out with a bumper pull with a dry bath and we can't wait to see it. Thanks for watching
I'm a wood man myself. I like the wood texture look in a trailer.
Fair enough. Escape has sooo many different options in cabinet and flooring decor. Check out some of our other Escape trailer videos to see their wood cabinetry. Thanks for watching
I like this trailer, very nice.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Great review.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
That was a nice, clean review.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Love these reviews, especially for the Escape trailers. We’re partial to the 21NE but this 5.0 looks interesting. We’re also anticipating the new E23 with the dry bath. We’ve heard the prototype should be completed in June/July of this year. Thanks again - Tricia & John
hey there guys, we will show you the 21NE in the coming weeks, we liked it too and we are antsy in our pants to see the 23. It is going to be so cool. We hope we can get back to the showroom for it's debut. Thanks for watching.
@@DoesSizeMatter has the E23 come out?
She did best showing this 5th wheel of all that i seen !
Thanks for the review. We just picked up our 5.0 in May, and loved our 2 wk return trip. Super well built.
Glad you liked it. It's great to hear that you got one and are loving it. We are sure there are lots of adventures coming your way. Thanks for watching
Love this unit, great review and walk around!
Glad you liked it. We think the Escape trailers are great too. Let us know what you are looking at. Thanks for watching.
@@DoesSizeMatter currently researching truck campers, but love fiberglass trailers, especially this 5th wheel! Great size to liveability factor!
@@brianmabin5947 Yes it is. The fiberglass campers are nice too. We have only reviewed the Lance campers but we have been to the @bigfoot factory and would love to film there but so far they aren't ok with it, not sure why cause their campers and trailers are really nice. If we get a chance we will look into the Northern Light too. Good Luck with your search, you will find the unbiased resource in our video description a good resource too, check it out. Can't wait to hear what you get.
Really like this rv👍👍
It is a good one. Thanks for watching
awesome video
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Extremely nice RV and very affordable...One suggestion for the host...It would be nice to know your height in future videos so that a potential buyer has a point of reference...
Glad you like it, we did too. I am 5' tall, hope that helps. Thanks for watching
Great 5th wheel! We love everything but the wet bath, we don't mind wet baths in a class B or B+, but not so much in a 5th wheel. I bet this could be pulled by a half ton truck? You kind of get the best of both worlds, small and maneuverable almost as good as a B+, and as comfortable as a big travel trailer. Great review, thank you!
Glad you liked it. We would also try to avoid a wet bath whenever possible. Escape does have a 23 coming out that will have a dry bath. We can't wait to see it. Thanks for watching
Some midsized trucks, when optioned appropriately, can even tow this. The long bed chevy Colorado diesel comes to mind.
I think it would be cool to get this behind that new F150 hybrid and boondock with AC using just the truck.
This weighs less than my Rockwood Mini Lite TT which my F-150 with 2.7 Turboboost and 3.73 rear end tows just fine.
@@robertd9850 that is the idea for these smaller fiberglass trailers. It gives more options to those who don't want or have big trucks.
@@DoesSizeMatter The 23 is a travel trailer if I understand it correctly.
Cute fifthwheel. I think I liked it better than the escape travel trailer. Draw back would be trying to make the bed. Not a big fan of wet baths but these campers are smaller. That said it didn't seem to bad its just you have to wipe everything down afterwards. But overall nice. Is Ellie a new family member? She's so cute.
Yes these are very nice small fifth wheels yet they are still bigger then the other Escape trailers. For those folks who size or wt of the trailer is a big priority wet baths and more difficult beds are something they are willing to trade on. It's all about give and take. Ellie is our granddogger who we are lucky enough to get to doggy sit as often as possible and we love bringing her along as much as possible. She is so cute. Thanks for watching.
These would fly out of dealerships in the UK . The only 5th wheel options are the celtic rambler or dreamseeker which are super expensive. Or a US Rockwood / Puma import which although legal they are limited due to weight & lengh.
I might consider it if I was younger but the bed would be difficult to crawl into and out of not to mention making it up.
We hear that. It really is all about pros and cons and what your personal priorities are to find the right RV for you. thanks for watching
Love this video. How would I go about getting the build sheet for this particular model? any info would be greatly appreciated.
Glad you liked it. It is a great little trailer and the info you are looking for would most likely be found on the Escape trailer website and the link for that is in the video description below the time stamps. Hope that helps you out. Thanks for watching
The 5.0 Escapade semi-trailer is in a class by it’s self. If only for the three interior color schemes. Floor options, counter options, cushion color options, ad infinitude. Does any other fifth wheel have any options? Well over 100 options to make the 5.0 exactly what you want!
Yes the Escape 5.0 is a great little trailer that you can customize yourself with lots of choices. We are glad you liked it.
nice video and format. But, YES and YES to the name of ur channel. It most certainly does at least for me. haha Merci
Glad you liked it. thanks for watching.
I'm wondering, could my 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL Premium have a 5th wheel hitch put in it to pull this unit ?
Nice and thinking of selling our Class A and getting one. Mary 💕 Fred
It is very nice and a big change from a Class A. Good luck and have fun.
@@DoesSizeMatter We have a class A and tow a truck camper to get to places we cant take our class A. However, when we need to downsize my husband really likes the Escape.
Do you know how long orders are taking before delivery due to covid interruptions? Also can the table be swapped out for a sofa or 2 theater seats? Tks
Hi Aurora, we're now booking guaranteed delivery dates into April 2023 if a deposit is placed today. However, we have been moving people up in the line and just did a big adjustment this past week, more will be coming. And sorry but we do not offer a sofa or theater seat option.
do you think I would be ok towing this with a Nissan Frontier mid size pick up truck? says I'm good up too 6000 lbs but I wouldn't want to be towing at max.
$12,000 worth of options. I’m very curious what the options are. That seems very high considering this trailer is very basic considering what kind of options come on the standard style 5th wheels.
Are twin beds an option in the bedroom?
We do not think they are but if you click the link in the video description you will be able to see what things are options for each trailer. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
What is the length and weight of this camper?
You will find this information in the Numbers section of the video. You can scroll to the title clip in the video or go directly to it by clicking on the time stamp listed in the video description. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
Is there a dry bath option?
Escape is coming out with a dry bath option but it will not be in the 5th wheel. We are waiting to hear more about it.
This would be perfect for Europeen roads and so comfortable, but unfortunatly not possible to buy it here ☹☹😢
We are sure you could get one shipped over but we can't imagine what it would cost! but then you would have the coolest rig on the road right! Thanks for watching
I'm new to RVs. So the Escape is like an upscale Scamp?
Great question and since we have not researched or reviewed the Scamp we can't really say. What we do know is that they are both fiberglass shelled trailers. What we don't know is how they are put together, insulation, floor build, tank placement, finishings etc... So they are for sure in the same trailer category but we can't say yet how they compare. Here is a link to a resource that we use that probably compares the two some. rvreviews.net/?ref=7 Hope it helps. Stay tuned and will work towards reviewing the Scamp. Thanks for watching.
It is my understanding that while a Scamp is superior to any stick and tin trailer, it is pretty near the bottom of the all fiberglass lineups. Oliver is probably at the top, followed Big Foot, then a tie between Escape and Casita, with Scamp rounding out the top five. All are really nice trailers.
@@markashlock9017 We can't confirm your opinion on this at this time but we will work towards doing the research and reviews on the others to learn more. We have had the opportunity to do a Big Foot factory tour and we were very impressed by them but we have been unable to film any reviews as they are so far behind in production that there has not been time between finished product to shipping out to have us back to film. We will keep at it to share the best info we can get with you.
The scamp is 19ft and single axle. They build them not far from me. I plan on buying an escape in the next few years.
Love your Video's.. Thought I would Love The 5.0 UNTIL I saw all the cheap staples and wood construction when you opened the storage doors... those staples do NOT hold up.. worse way to secure a frame. At least the Olivers are all aluminum, so I thought these were made as good... Sure was a disappointment.
Sorry you are disappointed with it. Escape is having no problems, complaints or warranty issues that we know of with the construction of their furniture. It seems to be standing up very well to time. We can not confirm details on the Oliver as we have not had an opportunity to review it but to our knowledge it is a similar fiberglass construction trailer and we can't confirm what the furniture is made of. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching
how much
You will find the price in the numbers section and you find that by scrolling to that section of the video or clicking on the time stamp in the description and it will take right to the information. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
Is midsize truck strong enough to tow this? Say Toyota Tacoma...
For the price I can't believe how many things are optional, most of the storage outside has no lights, outside shower is optional?? Any travel trailer has it as basic. When you pay 40k and above they should include the stove with 3 burners, not put that as an option. Anyway, that's my opinion.
We hear your point of view but what Escape is trying to do with offering so many options is to really allow you control over what you pay for and the ability to customize your RV. With all RV manufacturers nothing is 'included'. You are always charged for every little thing it is just not itemized for you and you don't get a choice. If they use a more expensive stove or always put in the plumbing for an outdoor shower the extra costs of those things are factored into the base price. They are not giving it to you for free. This is why we are seeing many manufacturers coming out with the stripped down version of a product like Imagine XLS or Jayco SLX. They are finding things or building processes to remove and reduce costs for the consumer. We think it is a good thing to give the customer more choices. Escape is just doing it up front and allowing you to customize it yourself. Another point to consider when comparing prices is, you have to compare apples to apples. Building materials, building processes, lifespan, resale value and volume produced to actually compare prices. We get that you can get a less expensive trailer, which may be way better suited to your wants, needs and priorities, making it the better purchase for you personally but the only way to know for sure if the Escape is too much is to directly compare it to the same kind of trailer. Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for watching.
@@DoesSizeMatter I see your point and it's ok, I still believe with the pandemic ( I guess excuse) supply and demand, prices went to the roof. I have a travel trailer, is a Gulfstream vintage cruiser 19rbs, maybe the quality is inferior but I paid 18.5k for it. I think when you say bare bones and they give you just the living space and 65 percent is all optional, and when you see the prices, outside shower over $100, upgraded AC, $1700, you can get these items on Amazon at half the price. Not trying to argue, I know they need to make money, but boy, don't go all out.
@@Norman1965arg It is good to hear your Gulfstream is working well for you and meets all the criteria you had in an RV for a great price. So as long as it is right for you that's what matters. Whether it be the pandemic, shortage of supplies from blocked tankers or simply supply and demand prices from all manufacturers are going up in 2022. When we think about the supplies and worker time to put in the plumbing and install an outdoor shower, $100 seems pretty inexpensive and ya you are probably right about being able to get items for half the price on Amazon but then you have to learn how and do the installation yourself with no warranty recourse if it gets messed up so that alone would be worth the cost to many folks. What's important is that you have what makes you happy at a fair price to you and it's ok if others are happy with the quality and choices Escape gives them and feel those trailers are worth the price. There is a right RV out there for everybody that's why we love checking them all out.
You absolutely right.
I’d expect a wet bath in a truck camper but not a 5th wheel.
Yes you should expect a wet bath in a truck camper but you can get them with dry baths now too. Wet baths are very common in small trailers, no matter if they are 5th wheels or bumper pulls. It all comes down to your wants, needs and priorities and these small trailers offer many pros for those who don't have bathrooms high in their priorities list. Since you clearly do we suggest watching many of our reviews of larger trailers that will certainly meet your dry bath criteria. Hope that helps. thanks for watching.
I like the Escape 5th wheel, but wouldn’t buy one because it has a wet bath which is also small. Not sure I like the table support. Boycott products in video.
Nope don't like bedroom or wet bath
Too bad but oh well there are lots of others on our channel for you to choose from. Not every RV can be for every person. Thanks for watching.
A billion times nicer than the Scamp.
We like it to
optional sensors for water?!!!! EVERY rv I've owned had them at no extra cost and the frickin door doesn't open all the way? wet bath in a 5th wheel, what a joke, everything is an option.
Oops, don't forget to check your facts before commenting. The UPGRADED tank sensors are the option and many RV doors don't open all of the way so no biggy there and a wet bath in such a small, light weight 5th wheel that can be towed by a smaller, less expensive truck means no more out house in the great places you can fit this into AND you get to custom make your RV just the way you want it. Sounds like a win! Take another look or check out the rest of our videos. There are so many to choose from we are sure you will find one you like. Thanks for watching.
Can Americans still purchase these with all the political problems? Really want one
Absolutely, click the link in the video description to get in touch with them. They deliver in the US and we have some other US followers that are getting their's this month. We are super excited for them. They even have programs where you can meet up with an Escape owner in your area to see it and ask questions and they do tonnes of video discussion and direct email conversations. If you want one get ahold of them. They are great. Good luck
Waaaaay to expensive.
The price is actually very competitive to comparable RVs and remember these are in Canadian $. Price is also relative to a person's wants, needs and priorities so for some people it is appropriately priced for what they are looking for but we do understand that it may not be right for you. So it really is more of an opinion you are expressing not a fact. Hope that helps, thanks for watching
Can't believe they have DOUBLED in price for base! Wow!
Two year lead time -yikes.
We don't think it really is that long but they don't like to give a date that they can't meet and these trailers are going to those that are planning farther out. They also give folks lots of opportunity to get in on their stock sales as they come up. Check out their webpage or IG and you will see them. Every manufacturer is struggling with timelines these days and the smaller ones are no different. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
@@DoesSizeMatter good info. Thanks!
Slow down! You passed many outside doors w/o explanation...why? It's not a race. We are here for information, not your thoughts on what's important...
Every outside compartment door was covered in this video. If there is something specific you would like to know more about please just ask we are happy to help. We are never in a race just being cautious of our viewers valuable time. We share our research and our thoughts and experiences. That's what our channel is all about and we encourage you to watch many more of our videos so you can get comfortable with our style. Thanks for watching
@@DoesSizeMatter Actually, bird dog is correct. I just watched the video and you passed by 2 outside compartments on the driver side, just above the wheels and one compartment just to the left of the water fill, near the back of the trailer. I was wondering just what those 3 compartments were. Overall, your video was very good.
@@chrisogren8154 Hey there, as we mentioned to bird dog, none of the outdoor compartment were missed. Above the wheels and to the left of the water fill were not storage compartments but venting and access to appliances like the furnace and hot water heater which we never go over in a review video as there is nothing to show you in these and they would be better found in an RV maintenance or repair video. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
no money no funny
