"I wish a better sounding mix would come through my heart"
- Chris Hammill
Wrote here, to be forever!
The before and after is dramatic. That church got its money worth. Hats off to the sound guy for convincing the church to buy you a ticket. Hats off to you for doing such a good job.
Mixdown Meltdown is one of the best Audio Series I have seen on UA-cam and it was needed. Please do not stop the good work. PS you could come London 👀👀👀👀👀👀
I’d love to
Man there are soooo many churches that could benefit from your services! You’re def gonna be going all over
rt
He needs to come to Vegas first. 😉👍
@@kevinmcd112 I would love to go to Vegas. Never been and always wanted to go.
I wish all churches and companies would create a diagram or spreadsheet for how devices are routed/connected. Would make things so much easier.
they always do. but usually it's in the form of a mind palace
@@georgvoldemartomusk1538hahaha
I am almost done helping set up a Sq6 shared between 3 churches and different inputs and channel layouts. Thankfully, my partner is doing the orginaztion chart!
Definately did this because it makes work flow better
At my Church we do, thankfully.
As a long time professional touring sound guy, and volunteer church sound guy, thank you for being so kind to the church folks. I have worked in this business a long time and most (99%) FOH sound guys I have run into are a-holes (even the ones in the churches). You were so kind it was a breath of fresh air. May God bless you in your endeavours!
I’ve always wanted to be on the road with a band. Don’t think that will ever happen but cool to dream! Glad you like the video. I’m a stereotypical curmudgeon sound guy, I just keep my grumpiness to myself 😂
Chris, thank you so much for your time and talent. You played that soundboard like an instrument. I really appreciate your appreciation for our harmony. As the baritone, my job is to fill out the sound, and you made that happen. The peace of Christ be with you.
My pleasure!
After working in church music/audio, this series is borderline spiritually therapeutic. It does my heart good to hear good church audio setups independent of size and budget.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy!
Bro saved their audio. This was incredible to watch!
Man I've watched all four episodes and I am still craving some more. Thank you for the help you are providing to these churches because speaking out of experience (as a person who does sound at my local church) most of us are just winging it due to the fact that finding a person who have experience is extremely difficult and VERY VERY EXPENSIVE so we just have to do with what we have and can to get by. So these videos for me are not just for entertainment but also try to learn as much as I can
Thanks again Chris, and God bless you.
Thanks for showing me a beautiful side of the country and inviting me out.
Im a Cowboys fan, but that " dig" about them was SPOT ON!!!!😂😂😂😂
As a Green Bay fan, we too are also used to fumbling in the postseason, especially if it’s against the 49ers. 😂
As a Wisconsin native, I laughed at the Cowboy jab. I then laughed harder at the Packers jab.
Expanding the story line with more outside the chuch stories..nice.
Hahahaha the windows crash in the middle xD I think it SHOULD now be apart of mix meltdown xD
yoo that goldwing and shelby tho 😍🔥
The Shelby was epic. You're in luck. Next Mixdown Meltdown has a Windows issue too!
@@chrishammillaudio lessgoo 😂😂😂
Man I’m glad the first thing you acknowledged was that those drums were in *desperate* need of a tuning lol.
Yeah. They needed some TLC
LOVE this series! Props on a small church for even caring about there sound…. Wish I could convince mine to get some help! 😂
Just make it happen! Chris is the man…
Hey man, hang in there! God's got this!!😊
Church FOH gave me the audio bug about 8 years ago. Once we gained the ability to multi track our worship sets and take them home... my home studio was born 😂.
I frequently mix in a school auditorium, very much like this room with questionable speakers and no acoustic treatment... It always feels like an uphill battle it's great to see how good you can make it sound despite the room problems.
I resonate with you bro.
Those clashing loud and unclear sounds are exhaustive.
The questions is how can we overcome?
Missionary of Audio!! Best series on YT right now. Looking forward to the next episode.
God Bless Texas! 🤪
I knew Albert was Brazilian before I could see his t-shirt, just by those flipflops 😂! Salve mano
Never heard of Gordon, Texas. I lived in Allen about 20 miles North of Dallas. Praise his name for Hammy
something that is often overlooked is a church investing in things that make thier band perform better. This could be hiring a worship leader that can coach the team or investing in resources to make individual band members better. Often when mixing, the abilities of the band is the hardest ceiling to overcome. You can treat the room, optimize processing but you get out what you put in.
That's all I can think when I see some gear heads get so deep in the rabbit hole. Like dude, it doesn't matter if you have a $5,000 drum kit if you can't tune it or hit the center of the head.
I totally agree with you. That investment is critical and not doing it ensures the needle will not move on the desired changes, meaning the complaints will just continue.
Just having warm bodies isn't enough.
love the editing, color grading, and comedy in this video
love what you're doing. Hope this turns into a lot of fun adventures of saving mixes all over the country
I really hope I can quit my day job from these videos.
I love how you are showing these churches that they can multiply their 2 bags of silver. Keep up the great work!
I really appreciate how kind you are to these churches when you’re helping them. You tell them about problems and what they can do to fix it, but it never seems like you’re judgmental or condescending. A kind person who also knows what they’re doing is so huge in the tech world! Thank you for serving the Lord!
My favorite videos on UA-cam right now please keep them up!!
Episode 5 coming next week.
We call it: Blessed to be a blessing. Use your talents for good.
Your storytelling voice is divine. On par with paranormal shows. Keep it up!
Thanks, I think?
@@chrishammillaudio definitely 👍 keeps the viewer hooked while listening (if that makes sense?)
@@bankruptsee I'm used to people creatively saying my VO is boring and/or AI lol
@@chrishammillaudio nah man it’s excellent and concise without being forceful. Keep doin you!
When you don't even need to identify a Brazilian, they always proud to wear the flag and wear flip flops anywhere 😂. Nice to see a fellow brazilian in such a nice city like that, congrats bro.
Also, nice job Chris, keep on mixing!
love these videos man, keep making them!
Another beautiful video i have been waiting for. Thank.s for the great work you are awesome 👏
Wayne’s singing voice is awesome. Very smooth lol. Great video Chris! You nailed this one too
Thanks very much!!😊 @bakerfx4968
this was sooo fun to watch keep it up !!!!
Very interesting serie of videos - better than Netflix.
Thank you for sharing. This was a lot of fun to watch.
This was awesome. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic work, i love it!
Really is a great series you're doing here. Enjoy every minute of these!
Nice job man love these videos
Enjoying this series!
It's always fun watching these types of videos! Crazy how it feels like really its primarily a matter of getting the basics right for the rest of the sound to follow suit. Keep doing what you do! Good stuff to observe and learn from, and I'm sure for you to experience.
love your content bro, please dont stop showing every step. Seeing you figure out the mics and make an input list was really interesting.
Wow
This was an amazing episode, it was definitely worth the wait regardless of the copyright.
I can't express how much I love watching these. I used to setup sound in my highschool chapel and we had the craziest moments working with little to deliver an amazing experience for the school church services. So these episodes strike at the very bottom of my heart.
I watched you literally deliver the mix from grass to grace. Thank you for the humility you potray which has enabled you give your time to help out these churches.
About the windows PC crushing, yep. That was a bummer. Happened to me while I was Livestreaming a high level event with a whole Minister for Health. I had never sweated in my life like I did. I have learnt that you have to stop automatic update service for any production machine.
And oh yeah, that car was wild. My goodness.
Thanks for watching. Glad you get enjoyment out of them.
Good point on the automatic updates.
WOW ! A MA Z I N G WORK ! Be blessed !
LOVE THIS SERIES!
Amazing piece. God bless you Chris.
Nicely done! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love watching these videos please keep them coming
I really like these videos. Well done!
Those series of videos is inspiring me to learn sound mixing and helps me make my choice of career, never stop!
Love the drone shots at the beginning, helps tell the story. Great job as always!
I love the live EQing, it helps with the learning process!
Love this content keep it up! ❤
I love these videos God bless you, greetings from Chile
I'm really enjoying this series.
You’re a humble professional Chris. I love your videos. Keep going and have fun!
Awesome video, you absolutely saved that churches audio. Thanks for sharing!
The mapping chart is an amazing idea for anyone going in blind, I'm really new to any of this and going in somewhere blind would give me a panic attack unless you can work out your outputs quickly before a show, the console re-routing took less time than someone having a quick snack, lightning quickness, honestly whenever Chris Hammill is in the building... your in good hands..we need a clone of you in the UK man, the work you do is so brilliant, the church sounded fantastic and amazing drone footage of Texas too!
ok im no expert. but i loved the process in finding the feedback... i was listening with nicer headphones the entire time and i understand how difficult it might sometimes to determine the culprit. i was thinking man that piano is piercing sometimes. great content.. i hope you get a lot more subs.. this channel is gold.
Appreciate it!
Camera quality is looking awesome, and the mix is sharp as always! Good stuff, Chris!
For an iPhone its not bad. POV cam is a DJI Action 4.
Just subbed. I just realized why i wasnt getting alerted when a new video drops. My pops brought me to this channel. I understand having to deal with terrible room acoustics. Good job my guy👍🏿
Thanks for sharing!
Very good, you are good at what you do!
Thanks alot Chris~!!!
Good job as always greeting from S.Korea
Love these videos, super insightful! Also beautifully shot, those drone clips were phenomenal!
Thanks. Any time I can incorporate the drone I’ll gladly do it.
The, "time to go back to reality" is what did it for me.
LOVE these videos
Great video as usual. LOVE to hear the progress and improvement. The Baratone singer has great pitch and tone.
this is the first series ive ever followed lol. Too good Mr Hamill
Love the video especially the ending with the Cobra 👍👍
Boosting for the algorithm😂. Love these vids
Stephen A. Smith just cracked a smile at you, sir. Well done on the mix and the shot at the Cowboys.
So glad to see you were well blessed by the church, and that you were able to repay in kind (yes, what you did for them will be seen as a blessing too). Kindness and generosity with whatever gifts we've received is how we help everyone flourish.
Incredible!
Love the Videos! I currently attend Full Sail University for my Recording Arts Bachelor's Degree. Your videos have truly motivated me and made me fall in love with the audio world even more. I grew up in the church scene and have gone to plenty of churches with the same problem, Sound. lol. Not all heroes wear capes! Thank You for this type of content!
🤘
You’re spot on, you don’t need to be a card carrying member of any religion, you live it.
Great job dialing this project in. Apple, hands down, is the best for audio and media applications.
Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Thanks for watching!
My suggestion is being a believing through faith member of Jesus Christ. That’ll get you where you want to go.
This was really a great wholesome video! Love watching your church mixes. Considering reaching out to you as well!
Send me an email!
The before and after is night and day! well done bro!
Chris, I park exclusively in end spots when I can find them for that reason. I don't trust people enough not to open their doors into my sides, even if it also damages their vehicle in the process.
I truly appreciate you 💗 .. I really dooo
Keep up the incredible work. This is the inspiring, satisfying work I absolutely love and will root for it as long as you make them
Appreciate it!
I love this series so much. I'm currently taking up music technology and seeing the process in a real life scenario is a lot of fun. Learning the process and routing and all.
Good luck, happy this series helps you!
Excellent work
I love these videos! Good job on the mixing! 😊 Awesome drone shots and I like that you include other footage as well. 😊 Such nice people! 😊 The car in the end just topped it all! 😊
Glad you enjoyed!
Another great video... I'm hoping this "series" of videos really takes off for you man.. I mean obviously it's looking good.
You and me both!
God bless you^^
Great way to end the vlog, I’m not much of an American car guy but that’s a nice American car forsure lol
I absolutely love my Golf GTI, but I also equally love my Mustang. Nothing beats the sound of an American V8.
Keep making these
Nah as a Cowboys fan and a drummer I totally get that! Hahaha made my day right there!
Love your channel. You deserve all the success. Respect.
Thanks. Appreciate it 🤘
44:16 GAH!! I can relate to this SOOOOOO much!
Love the drone shots and new color grading👌
Thanks. Happy with how the footage came out considering the fanciest camera I used is my iPhone. Drone was a Mavic Air 2.
@@chrishammillaudio I love my Mavic 3 DJI knows what there doing
@@You_dont_know_me_I_think I want to get a Mavic pro 3 but can’t afford it yet. Soon, though.
@@chrishammillaudio tbh with you the classic is the best bang for the buck the telephoto and the wide angle lens sensor on the pro is so small that it honestly doesn’t look good especially with UA-cam’s competition.
I use drones almost every day for my day job. Definitely would use the Mavic pro 3.
This always gives me joy. I have been thinking about taking up sound in college, along with being a car mechanic. So if one thing doesn't work out, I'll have options, and I can enjoy myself on either path I take!
Audio is a tough field to break into. Smart of you to have a backup plan. If you want to go to school, don’t go for audio.
@@chrishammillaudio I've still got my senior year, and an extended year to decide and finish taking automechanics. So I'm covered for either route I go. These are two huge passions for me, so it's gonna be a tough one!
Best episode so far! I left Morris County for the hill country of Texas 13 years ago. Never looked back.
I grew up in Denville!
@chrishammillaudio Rockaway here, small world hahah. Keep up the good work, you're killing it dude!
great video
😆 I just knew you were going to say Whataburger! , I used to do the same every time before leaving Texas for a while and coming back
Like you, I also do local mix down meltdowns lol. I don’t know how familiar you are with RTA mics and tuning the speakers “room” with pink noise but it’s helped speed up the process for me. Again, great job. Doing the lords work
That’s good for tuning a room, but not for feedback hunting. Nearly all of the soundcheck was me adjusting the EQ because feedback popped up everywhere.
@@chrishammillaudio In those cases, where do you decide enough is enough trying to EQ feedback out? I've had the situation where you end up removing frequency after another and suddenly the sound is completely wrecked
Until I can hear it at a loud enough volume. Whatever it takes.
Love the bass singer at the end of the video.
Bros jokes are A1 love this guy 🙌😂
