I have to disagree with him. Parents should be able to rely on the social structures they live within. No one exists in a vacuum and certainly our social systems are lacking in many ways. I don’t think this absolves parents of responsibility, but I don’t fully agree with the original statement either.
This judge is an example of a great professional and human being. What a lesson on justice and compassion (something not easy to combine and, unfortunately, not taken at all into account in most of the cases). This video should be shown in every law school.
There's almost no actually treatable mentally ill people outside of schizophrenics, and even then the danger is always present since you have to trust they will take their pills.
• Father in prison. • Mother & brother died… Wow. Doesn’t excuse her crimes, but this woman seemed doomed for a life of crime or danger. We all have to be thankful for our blessings.
I would be absolutely terrified to share any amount of space with her in prison. Her eyes constantly 'mock' the whole world and those around her. Every thought, feeling, word etc. from anyone about her is met with a look of complete sarcasm, mockery and disdain from her. She's a constant ticking bomb that needs absolutely no reason whatsoever to just explode on anyone in her vicinity. She's some type of severe evil I've never seen before. And that's with no drugs influencing her currently. May god help anyone near her in prison.
She's gone buddy. That's not her but it possession. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but dark spirits. I dated a girl for a short time who I found was a prostitute. Nah, I give thanks to the police, prosecutor, defence (to ensure fair trial), judge, jury and the corrective services for keeping her off the streets. No need for a special man in the sky.
I think both of your positions are respectable. Its hard to see past her evil but commendable to be able to see the compassion of the court as everyone deserves a fair trial no matter the offence. As soon as that goes away society is truely broken. But again this women is pure evil
Likely the judges are tasked with writing up a sentencing memorandum and ruling in that state so the judge was reading what he already wrote. I agree that the most important sentence the judge said that sums up the case is sentencing her to life without the possibility of parole. The rest of the sentence explanation was not needed. The blame falls on the criminal for forcing a trial by pleading insanity instead of pleading guilty the evil violent crimes she did and not wasting the court's time
The judge's kind words served a significant purpose. Think long enough, maybe you'll figure out what it is. I doubt it though; your response to the judge's words speaks volumes.
I love this judge. His words were admirable. He treated her like a human being while also recognizing the gravity of her actions and that she can’t ever be let out. Any attempt at an appeal would be useless for her.
"Society" didn't make that comment, her father did. And "society" NEVER makes that comment, only certain people do. PEOPLE need to get THEMSELVES straight. It is ironic that the comment is blaming "society" for blaming "the system".
So if by default families are "responsible" for their children or grown adults as far as mental illness or self injurious behavior is concerned, then family locks up their members in the basement and prescribes them appropriate drug treatment and gets the drugs from ?? Just wondering at what point family intervention starts and government stops. And I'm seriously asking, not being facetious. This person SHOULD have been in extended involuntary commitment before this crime, then only released to a group home setting. It's the only thing I disagree with the judge on. He himself said she "never had a chance" which is at odds with the notion that family is responsible for everything. Just to be clear, there are legal lines family cannot cross and we rely on the mechanism that exists to step in. They often don't though they should. It IS a failure of the "system". Until we have eugenics to prevent unfit people from breeding, we NEED these social safety nets to actually function!
@@reefshadow1 Family is responsible . If they want help then yes the system should help. But with people like you ..help enable the the ongoing BLAME Game.
Research has shown that death penalty cases cost a lot more money to the tax payer than cases with only life in prison without parole. If your only concern is money, then life without parole is the cheaper answer. Personally, the idea of being locked in a box until I die sounds like the worst thing ever. Many death row inmates have been relieved when they find out that the final end is in sight.
But it isn't, hence it is cheaper for non-death penalty cases. Also, 20 years in a box, to find out if you are killed by the State, sounds like a severe punishment to me. Jut lock them up and throw away the key as in this case.
@@JohnWick-vh2qyit's not bs, the United States court system strives to be fair and give everyone a chance at a fair trial and appeals, many people have been wrongly convict and in your world they would have been immediately killed unjustly. Because of the gravity of a death sentence the amount of proceedings and appeals often ends up costing more than housing an inmate for life. You could look this up and not just take our word for it.
This woman gives me goosebumps!! She looks most of the time apathetic and so surprised when he said body parts in a container.. She is truly a psychopath and should never ever meet freedom again.
We have a natural instinct to detect psychopaths, it’s in our genetics, the strange feeling we get of unease and concern come from this very instinctual response ❤️
'psychophant'? Well, apart from being wrongly spelled, she certainly was nothing of the kind. As for being a psychopath - she probably fits that mold but the prison service psychiatric teams will be assessing her (and may have already done so)
I don't know how bad life in prison really is, but I do know that as long as you are alive you're able to make the best out of your situation. A death victim can't.
Women's prisons , I've read are not as horrible as Men's. Because ( other than her ? ) women are less violent then us males. But , I believe in the Death Penalty.
Taycheedah correctional institution is way better than sitting time in county jail. She'll be able to attend school, church, or go to the smudge house since she's native. They have actual rec, walk on a track, plus counseling sessions. She'll be in the max building no doubt due to the seriousness of her case, but it's not that bad. I'm speaking from experience, however there's more confinement time when you are a killer vs someone with petty charges!
The look in her eyes is absolutely bone chilling at times. It looks like she struggles between not trying to cry to where she's confused and wants to take out that judge. I'm guessing the spit guard is what's on her face and she wasn't behaving? Just shows she needs to stay locked up.
Regarding the spit guard: She’s smiled and had some pretty disrespectful facial expressions throughout the trial-think that was part of it too with today being her sentencing, especially with the judge speaking.
She has shown no ability to cry, whether when the love of her family was brought up, or mention of her son. Shes never shed one tear and that is highly disturbing.
Agree that it's probably to hide her disturbing (admit it-you were creeped out, too) and inappropriate facial expressions more than anything else. Such a deeply disturbed human. Shad and his family did not deserve any of this.
Had the system worked, it would be known that the daughter of a single convicted father would need more social supports to prevent this outcome. Thats what love thy neighbor means.
He may well of failed her...but clearly so did the mental health system considering she had been in and out of it several times and not had the magnitude of her psychotic issues recognised and treated or dealt with by being put in a mental health institute.
Im always so impressed by how calm and compassionate a lot of these judges are, but they are shrewd which you need to be. Thank you to the justice system 🙏
she's a psychopath through and through, every time the judge mentions the fashion in which she killed the victim she kept making those judgemental looks.
This judge seem to be the kind of judge we all would want. Compassionate, fair, respectful but firm. Recognizes the difficulties in her life but Not making excuses for the choices she made. Thank You
I really admire this judge. He's not an authoritarian, He's very plainly fair. The fact that he even took the time to learn who this murder really was before even passing his sentence. That told me he wanted to feel good about his decision. This woman was not a victim. He recognized her hardships and such. I'm happy he did what he knew was right.

I cannot imagine how much more stressful the jobs of the people where she is incarcerated is about to become. In an already stressful environment, it sounds absolutely unbearable.
I loved this judge's speech! I am so sick and tired of hearing people blaming the system for all of their problems. Those people need to wake up and realize that THEY have control in how they live their lives and THEY are responsible for raising their children right; not the government!

ongoing terrible, terrible trauma has obviously happened to her. She is very ill from her childhood. Clearly. That is why people are involved with drugs. It is all just VERY VERY sad.
Not at all, you'd be surprised how many of these psychos have totally tolerable lives. This is purely the result of her own depravity and complete disregard for human life.
Look, what she did was grim. But he didn't suffer for long. She didn't torture him. She killed him, that's the worst thing she did. Everything after that was disturbing AF but he was dead and beyond suffering. To me, a crimes level of "horrificness" (!) depends on the amount of suffering the perpetrator caused to the victim. I don't see that here. Don't get me twisted, I'm not objecting to her sentence. But I don't see her as an out and out monster. I see her as an incredibly messed up individual. Like, really, really messed up!
You’re not responsible for where you come from, but you are responsible for the choices you make. Amen, Judge. Well said. Everyone should take that to heart.

If we had more judges like Judge Thomas Walsh here, maybe our legal system would be better. He is the shining example. The outstanding exception instead of the pathetic norm.
I agree with whoever said drugs are irrelevant. Only someone that is evil or has never done drugs would believe drugs caused this. If that were the case, we would find heads everywhere.
As someone in recovery I not once did the things she did, thank god! It can’t be blamed on “drugs” in an excusable way! Plenty of people harm other without ever having touched drugs!
Yep. After the judge mentioned about how she had worked in the community and praised her for it she did her little smirk and looked to the side at someone.
There is something evil within her. It's so palpable. I'm not easily disturbed by serial killers or true crime, but there is something extremely off-putting about her. She is indeed terrifying.
Prison will not rehabilitate her. She should not be sent to prison with any hope that she will learn from her mistakes and become a better person. The reason she needs to be in prison for the rest of her life is simply because she is a lethal danger to anyone with whom she comes in contact. Prison will make her worse, prison will make her more violent, and prison will erode any possible hope she ever had about being a human being again. THe sooner we forget about her the better.
The whole point of Rehabilitation is to give HOPE and that's the one thing you need if you are spending the entirety of the rest of your life incarcerated, without hope of some sort of salvation, you put other prisoners that might be locked up for lesser crimes and not life sentences in more danger from this convicted murderer.
I wouldnt be sad if they shackled her to a wall in a wet and cold dungeon with no food or water . They could put in on a livestream to deter others from being evil.

Time to enforce the death penalty when an obvious murderer is caught. Life in prison is a waste of money.
@@myth2005the death penalty should be done within 1 year of sentencing. None of this 20 year appeal bs.
But it isn't, hence it is cheaper for non-death penalty cases. Also, 20 years in a box, to find out if you are killed by the State, sounds like a severe punishment to me. Jut lock them up and throw away the key as in this case.
@myth2005 bullets, rope and other methods are pretty cheap so spare that BS
@@JohnWick-vh2qyit's not bs, the United States court system strives to be fair and give everyone a chance at a fair trial and appeals, many people have been wrongly convict and in your world they would have been immediately killed unjustly. There’s hundreds of these types of people in this world free and roaming around why be scared of her
Prison will not rehabilitate her.
